Mario observed his surroundings nervously and vigilantly, with nothing but a solitary piece of land beneath his feet. It was as if he were the last being in the universe. Just as he began to doubt whether he was experiencing auditory hallucinations, a faint orb of light suddenly appeared, floating gently in front of him, like a glimmer of hope emerging from the endless darkness.
As Mario reached out to touch the ethereal orb, the anticipated warmth and guidance vanished in an instant. The orb erupted into a piercing, mocking laughter, seemingly taunting his helplessness and despair. Its voice echoed sharply and provocatively in the silent space: "Hahaha, Mario, are you trapped? Is this how you give up?"
Mario looked in astonishment at the glowing sphere, his face alternating between anger and disbelief. Instead of providing the help he expected, the sphere mocked him at this most desperate moment, leaving him feeling unprecedented humiliation and anger. Mario attempted to fight back, saying, "I, Mario, will never give up! What right do you, you damn little speck of light, have to mock me!"
But the sphere continued its disdainful laughter, then disappeared into thin air, leaving Mario standing alone in this endless void. As Mario looked around, he saw that the surrounding space was still an endless darkness, with nowhere to escape, nowhere to hide. He realized that he was truly trapped, with no one to rescue him and no way out.
At this moment, Mario felt an unprecedented sense of loneliness and helplessness, his heart filled with fear and despair. This was not just a loss of the material world, but also the collapse of his consistent arrogance, self-importance, and the belief that he could control everything. He finally realized that no matter how powerful he had been, he ultimately could not overcome the arrangements of fate.
In the endless darkness and silence, Mario knelt down, his voice carrying an unprecedented weakness and pleading, slowly flowing out: "I'm sorry... I was too arrogant, please come back... at least let me know what's going on." His words seemed to be directed at an unseen opponent, or perhaps at the order of the entire universe, hoping to gain a shred of explanation, a shred of comfort.
But all around was still silent, and the mocking light ball did not reappear, leaving Mario with only his own echo and the deep loneliness and despair. In this moment, Mario truly felt helpless, realizing that all his pride and power were nothing but a speck of dust in the face of this unknown and endless emptiness.
This realization filled Mario with deep fear and led him to truly reflect on his actions and choices for the first time. He began to question whether this unraveling was the result of his own doing. Was it his own arrogance and selfishness that led to the downfall of the entire Mushroom Kingdom, and even his own demise?
However, no matter how much he reflected and repented, the surrounding darkness remained unchanged. Mario was alone, facing this unknown end, and could only helplessly wait for the ultimate answer, perhaps an answer that would never come.
Just as Mario felt he would be swallowed by endless darkness and loneliness, the previously disappeared light sphere suddenly floated in front of him, with a hint of mockery and disdain in its tone, gently saying, "Now you're being honest, right? Still want to talk back?" The tone of the light sphere seemed to be mocking Mario's previous arrogance and self-importance, as well as reminding him that no matter how powerful he had been, at this moment he was just a mortal trapped in despair.
Mario knelt on the ground, looking at the seemingly controlling orb of light, he shook his head helplessly. In a moment, all his pride and arrogance turned to ashes. His voice carried a hint of pleading: "Please... please tell me, why is all this happening? What should I do to... to end all of this?" Mario's words were filled with powerlessness and despair. He knew that in this unknown and terrifying situation, he had lost all control. The only thing he could do was seek answers from the orb of light in front of him, even if that answer might further plunge him into despair.
The orb continued to float there, seemingly contemplating whether to give Mario a hint or to let him continue to struggle in this endless cycle of despair. Mario's fate seemed to be completely in the hands of this mysterious entity.
The laughter seemed particularly harsh in this dead silence, and the orb spun nonchalantly, emitting a sound as if from another world: "Ha! You are so naive! Do you think all of this is just a simple game ending or a new beginning? No, no, no! This world, your world, has been chosen for 'purge.' Just like resetting a malfunctioning system, wiping out all data, and starting over."
Mario lifted his head in confusion, his brow furrowed with a hint of fear: "What do you mean? What does 'purge' mean? Are you saying that everything we have, all of our history, memories, existence, is going to be... wiped out?" His voice trembled, as if the answer behind it concealed the truth he least wanted to face.
The light of the orb flickered slightly, as if savoring the moment: "Yes, that's right. Your world is no longer allowed by the rules of the universe due to a series of mistakes and errors. Now, it must be reset, starting from scratch. And you, Mario, and your world, will only become forgotten dust."
This conversation felt like a cold blade piercing Mario's heart. He couldn't understand, couldn't accept it. Were all the efforts, all the battles, all the victories and defeats, ultimately just meant to be objects for the universe to erase? Mario's vision blurred, not just from tears, but also from facing this absolute despair. He didn't know what to do.
