If the one who argued with Li Chao was that ghost, then the ghost probably didn't need to open the door to leave, right? It just vanished in a flash, like in the movies. If it wasn't a ghost, then what did Li Chao mean by wanting to return the peach? By the way, if this person just walked out like that, someone should have seen it, right? 0

I pointed outside and asked, "When did those people in black come?" 0

"After Captain Ling left, Uncle Jin made a phone call. Around ten o'clock at night, people started coming one after another. By the time I went back to my room to get my clothes, six had already arrived, and another seven came today," Yang Guo'er recalled with a frown. 0

"So, this person walked out and those six didn't react at all?" I asked in surprise. 0

"Yes, when I came back, there were already two people in the lobby. To leave from Li Chao's room, you have to pass through the lobby; those two couldn't possibly not see him," Yang Guo'er nodded. 0

"There are three possibilities," I raised one finger. "First, the people in black all know this person and recognize him as part of the Jin Family, so they ignored him." 0

Yang Guo'er and Ding Fatty nodded in agreement simultaneously. 0

"The second possibility is that he just opened the door and lingered for a moment, then heard Li Chao shouting and went back to close the door." I raised a second finger. 0

Yang Guo'er thought for a moment and slowly nodded. "Yes, that's possible. Maybe this person only left late at night or is still in Li Chao's room." 0

"And the third possibility," I continued, "is that what Fatty said makes sense too; Li Chao was just on a call, and opening and closing the door was an unconscious action driven by his extreme anger. When people are particularly furious, they often vent their anger by smashing things." This wasn't just random talk; at least Ding Fatty had broken two phones during arguments with his girlfriend. 0

"I agree!" Ding Fatty said. "However, I think there's another possibility." 0

"Oh?" I gestured for Fatty to continue. 0

"Ding Fatty" said, "There is also a possibility that it really is a ghost, and when it reached the door, it became invisible!" 0

I frowned and replied, "I considered that possibility too, but then dismissed it. First of all, does the ghost really need to open the door and walk out before becoming invisible? Secondly, the Vietnam War veteran in the lobby exudes a fierce killing intent; I doubt the ghost would dare to walk past them openly! This is just a ghost, not a deity!" 0

"How do you know it's a ghost and not a deity?" "Ding Fatty" countered. "Do you know about pretending to be weak to deceive the strong?" 0

"If it were a deity, why would it need to pretend to be weak? It's like an adult bullying a child; is there any need for them to show weakness? Just for fun?" I replied. 0

"What's this about ghosts and deities?" "Yang Guo'er" interjected, clearly confused by my and "Fatty's" conversation. 0

After I briefly explained the worldview that "Kong Xuan" had shared with me, "Yang Guo'er" looked somewhat pale and was left speechless. 0

I quickly changed the subject. "Now, who is that person? Whether they are human or ghost doesn't matter for now. We can confirm one thing: Taozi and "Jin Yang" were kidnapped by someone, and "Li Chao" knows who took them. We need to start with "Li Chao." "Fatty," go get some listening devices—something small with a long range." 0

"Fatty" responded with an "Oh," turned to leave, and then asked at the door, "Should we develop tickets?" 0

I jokingly scolded him, "Damn it, of course we should! And make sure they have scratch-off prizes! If you don't win anything, you better come back here with your head!" 0

"Fatty" chuckled as he walked away, leaving just me and "Yang Guo'er" in the room. The atmosphere suddenly became awkward. 0

"You two seem pretty close!" After a while, "Yang Guo'er" remarked. 0

"Well, naturally. We've been partners for over two years and have gone through a lot together," I reflected. "Only friends who have endured various hardships together can truly be considered good friends. There was a time when we had to share a single pack of instant noodles." 0

"It seems like you've finally come out of hardship into happiness now?" "Yang Guo'er" smiled, her eyes curving pleasantly. 0

"Not bad, I've solved my basic needs and I'm on the way to recovery," I said with a smile. 0

A moment of silence followed... 0

I asked, "Why didn't you tell Captain Ling about this and instead came to me?" 0

"I don't know, it just feels like this matter is related to you from start to finish, so I came to you. Besides, you're easier to approach than Captain Ling!" Yang Guo'er laughed. 0

Another moment of silence... 0

"By the way, do you have a girlfriend?" 0

"By the way, do you have a boyfriend?" 0

Both of us asked the same question simultaneously, and after a brief pause, we burst into laughter. The answer didn't matter; what was important was that the awkward atmosphere dissipated instantly. 0

After that, we chatted about everything under the sun. In the middle of our conversation, Fatty called back and asked me to get Yang Guo'er’s phone number for Li Chao. I was a bit surprised but didn’t ask why. I handed my phone directly to Yang Guo'er, who pulled out her own phone and provided Fatty with the number. 0

Time flew by as we talked, and when Fatty knocked on the door and came in, I was still surprised and asked, "Hey, how did you come back so soon?" 0

Fatty was carrying a large box. Hearing my question, he looked astonished and checked his phone before saying, "Bro, I've been gone for over two hours... Oh, I get it!" He then looked at me and Yang Guo'er with a strange expression. 0

"Did you buy it?" I asked bluntly. 0

"I did! Look!" Fatty grinned as he sat down and opened the big box. Inside was a set of precision receivers, with a large headset standing out prominently. Fatty pulled out a SIM card from inside and proudly said, "High-tech! As long as we get his phone and swap out this card, we can use the phone to listen in on him." 0

I clicked my tongue twice and said, "Fatty, it's not about you. I have a question for you." 0

Fatty looked confused and asked, "What?" 0

Holding the SIM card, I said, "What if Li Chao's phone is one of those Apple models that requires a card cut? Don't tell me you brought your card cutter!" 0

Fatty's eyes widened in shock, but fortunately, Yang Guo'er laughed and said, "Li Chao's phone doesn't need a card cut; I know that much." 0

Fatty finally breathed a sigh of relief. "You scared me!" 0

"Guo'er, go check if Li Chao is outside. Your phone is dead, so borrow his to use!" I handed her the SIM card. "Then, swap this card out. By the way, Fatty, what if Li Chao has his contacts saved on the card? If you don't have any contacts on it, won't that blow our cover?" 0

"It's all high-tech now. When you ask for their phone numbers, that guy will handle it just fine. I can guarantee it this time!" Fatty declared confidently. 0

Yang Guo'er went out for a while and returned about ten minutes later, excitedly giving me a peace sign to indicate she had succeeded. 0

"Try it out! Try it out!" I urged Fatty. 0

Fatty put on the headphones and pressed a series of numbers on the Receiver. Before long, Fatty made a 'K' gesture at me. 0

Just as I was about to ask Fatty how the sound quality was, he suddenly frowned and made a shushing motion at us. After a moment, he took off the headphones and said, "Just now, Jin Zhenzhong called Li Chao and asked him to drive to the company to pick something up. After hanging up, Li Chao muttered something to himself—'Just right.'" 0

Just right? Just right for what? Was Li Chao going out to find that mysterious person? Or was that mysterious person an employee of Jin Family Company? 0

Not wanting to think too much about it, I asked Yang Guo'er, "What car does Li Chao drive?" 0

“Benz, Uncle Jin drives a Benz too,” Yang Guo'er replied confidently. 0

I told Fatty to pack up the suitcase: “We need to follow Li Chao.” 0

The two of us quickly ran to the District Entrance, as Li Chao's car had stopped in the underground garage, which allowed us to catch up before him. 0

Fortunately, we managed to flag down a taxi. Once inside, I told the driver, “A Benz will come out from here soon; follow it closely.” 0

The taxi driver’s eyes lit up immediately: “Bro! Are you working on a police case or filming a movie?” 0

I quickly replied, “You’re overthinking it. We’re just a group looking for a place to eat; his car just can’t fit us all.” 0

The taxi driver sighed: “I wish it were that good!” 0

I exchanged glances with Fatty and Noodles. Had their lives become this boring? 0

Before long, a black Benz emerged from the District Entrance. The taxi driver started the car and closely followed behind. I chuckled, “No need to tail so closely, right?” 0

The taxi driver shot me a look in the rearview mirror: “Bro, that’s a Benz, and I’m in a BYD. If I don’t stay close, he’ll lose me in no time!” 0

Luckily, this was in the city, and amidst the crowded traffic, the difference between the Benz and the BYD wasn’t significant; both were moving slowly. Because of this, our car following closely behind Li Chao didn’t seem particularly conspicuous. 0

Wait, isn’t this direction not towards the Jin Family company? It’s simple; the Jin Family’s Golden Summit Investment Limited is located in Qinghu District at Qidasha, occupying the top three floors of that building. Now, however, the car ahead is taking us into Yuhua District. 0

I signaled for Fatty to activate the Receiver. He nodded, opened the suitcase, put on the headphones, and then looked at me with confusion: “No signal!” 0

What a mess! Could this be interference, or is this a low-quality product? I took out my phone to check, and the signal was full, so there was no interference. 0

"His phone is off; that shouldn't affect anything, right?" I whispered. 0

"It won't affect anything as long as the battery isn't removed; it should work normally!" Fatty said with frustration. "Could it be that his phone is dead?" 0

That was indeed a possibility. Since that was the case, there was nothing we could do but follow him for now. 0

After about twenty minutes of walking, Benz suddenly turned into a residential area. This area, Rainflower New City, was quite famous in Star City and considered upscale. 0

The taxi driver looked back at us. "Are you going to eat here? Do you want to go inside?" 0

I nodded. "We're going to a friend's house for dinner, so we need to go in." 0

Following Benz, he stopped in front of one of the buildings. The door opened, and someone walked out. Fatty and I gasped; it was Jin Xinghua. 0
