This Cylinder should be an elevator. I glanced at it and was about to step into the Cylinder, but as my gaze swept over the bottom of the Cylinder, I abruptly stopped in my tracks. 0

At the bottom of the Cylinder was a set of Geometric Patterns, resembling a Tangram, with Triangles, quadrilaterals, and pentagons. That wasn't particularly concerning, but from my angle, I could see that these geometric shapes were not on a flat surface. 0

I crouched down to observe closely. Indeed, these Geometric Patterns were not on a single plane; part of the darker designs protruded slightly. I gently touched them with my finger and felt that these protruding geometric shapes seemed to have some give, as if springs were installed inside. 0

Interesting! 0

I stepped back about two or three meters, thought for a moment, and then grabbed a few large cushions from the sofa outside the Bar Counter to use as shields. After preparing my defenses, I picked up an Ashtray from behind the Bar Counter and threw it at those protruding shapes. 0

Clang! 0

The imagined scene of arrows flying everywhere did not occur; everything remained as it was. 0

It seemed I was overthinking it. Just as I was about to drop the cushions, an impulse struck me, and I picked up another Ashtray to throw at the flat geometric shapes. 0

Crash! Crash! Crash! Crash! Crash! 0

Several dazzling white lights flashed, and I stared in shock at what was inside the Cylinder. 0

There were six gleaming blades at three different levels—top, middle, and bottom—each cross-section featuring three horizontal and three vertical blades arranged in a mesh pattern. If I had been inside the Cylinder at that moment... well, there would be no doubt about it; I would be dead for sure. 0

The designer of this trap understood human psychology all too well. Even if someone noticed the irregularities underfoot, they would assume that the protruding shapes were suspicious. Consequently, they would step onto those seemingly safe Geometric Patterns, leading to a fatal outcome just as I had imagined. 0

After throwing a few more Ashtrays inside, there was no further reaction from the Metal Cylinder. I approached to inspect it and found that the blades were quite thin. I searched for a piece of Cloth on the Bar Counter to wrap around my hand and then twisted the base of one blade with considerable effort. It took quite a bit of Kung Fu to bend these eighteen razor-sharp blades. 0

Holding four cushions, I cautiously stood in the center of the Cylinder. This truly was an elevator; inside the Cylinder, there were four buttons: one for opening and closing the door and two for moving up and down. I freed one hand to press the door close button, then pressed the button for going up. 0

The elevator shook slightly and began to ascend slowly. Suddenly, a thought popped into my head: elevators are usually pulled by steel cables, but this one shouldn't be, as there was no place on top for a hoisting machine. 0

Whatever, how it operates is none of my business. Once the elevator stopped, I pressed the door open button while holding all four sofa cushions in front of me. 0

The door opened slowly, and a dim blue light illuminated the space. Before me was a hall that looked exactly like the one on the surveillance screen earlier, except for the Glass Case in the center; the hall was otherwise empty. 0

I dropped the sofa cushions and took out my phone to activate the camera function. When I pointed it outside, the screen filled with dense infrared lines that made my scalp tingle. Damn it, with such a dense array of infrared lines, are you trying to weave a fishing net? 0

This trick of using a phone camera to see infrared was something Fatty had told me about. Originally, I wanted him to help me buy a pair of glasses that could see infrared at the electronics store, but he was too lazy and just searched for it on Baidu, showing me the results—glasses that could see infrared do not exist, but a phone camera can achieve this function. 0

We even tested it with a TV remote control, and indeed it worked. However, the remote's emission energy was weak; it only showed flickering red dots without any visible beams. 0

Baidu is truly amazing. 0

I put my phone away, having no intention of crawling through the gaps in the infrared beams like in the movies. I'm not a monkey; besides, with such dense infrared lines, even a monkey couldn't get through. 0

I stacked a few cushions under my feet and lit a cigarette. A thought crossed my mind: I wanted to grab one of the cushions and throw it out to see what traps would be triggered by the infrared hitting it—would it be machine gun fire or a volley of poisoned arrows? 0

After taking two puffs of smoke and feeling increasingly frustrated, I cursed a few times but realized it was futile. I started scratching my head and thinking of a strategy. 0

Since Xu Qingyu's fingerprint could unlock this Glass Case, it meant he could walk over there. He definitely wouldn’t pass through these dense infrared lines; that was impossible. There must be a switch or a remote control that could turn off these infrared beams. 0

If it's a switch, then it should be inside this Metal Cylinder. If it's a remote control, then its Receiver shouldn't be too far from where I am now. 0

With this in mind, I carefully searched inside the Metal Cylinder, but found nothing unusual—almost getting cut by a blade in the process. Although I don't rely on my looks for a living, I can't just ruin my face! 0

Next, I looked outside; everything was bathed in dim blue light, making everything appear vague and unclear. At this moment, I couldn't help but miss Fatty. If he were here, he would definitely be able to spot the Receiver. 0

I took out my phone and opened the Camera to focus. Now I could see a bit more clearly. I scanned the surroundings and noticed a metal box in the upper left corner of the doorway. There was a faint green dot flashing on top of the box. I wasn't sure if that was the Receiver, but I decided to treat it as such. 0

I checked the time on my phone; it was almost eleven o'clock. I wondered if Fatty and the others had already started the Health Treatment. I needed to hurry; if that old Wang was a quick gun, he might return early, and that would be trouble. 0

Since I had found the Receiver and my phone was equipped with infrared capabilities, I decided to try the Remote Control Spirit. I opened a webpage, found the Remote Control Spirit's Official Website, downloaded an app, and after selecting the relevant options, I pressed and held my phone towards the metal box, waiting for it to automatically pair. 0

Ten seconds, zero seconds, zero seconds... No successful pairing. 0

One minute, one and a half minutes, two minutes... Still no successful pairing. 0

I kept pressing for almost five minutes, but the Remote Control Spirit showed no response at all. I despondently gave up. Five minutes! Even Avatar and Avanti would have paired successfully by now. 0

At that moment, my phone rang again, and I pressed to answer. The voice of Isolated from the World came through the headphones: "How's it going?" 0

"I found the entrance; I'm right in front of that Glass Case," I replied weakly. 0

"Then go ahead and open it using Xu Qingyu's Palm Print Gloves," Isolated from the World said excitedly. 0

"Open it? There's infrared in front; I can't get through," I cursed. 0

"..." Isolated from the World seemed unsure about something. After a moment, he finally managed to say, "This matter must succeed tonight, no matter what. Zheng Nan, let me put it this way: if this doesn't succeed, the consequences will be unimaginable. Our family will suffer a huge blow." 0

"Your family?" I asked curiously. 0

"Regardless, you must succeed tonight!" Isolated from the World avoided answering my question and said fiercely, "If I'm not doing well, you won't have it easy either. Yang Guo'er will surely have no place to be buried, and you will undoubtedly die." 0

With that, Isolated from the World hung up angrily. I suddenly found it amusing; I was used to hearing threats like this from Isolated from the World. He often threatened me for no reason while in reality, Guo'er hadn't been harmed at all. Was he just playing house? 0

It may be funny, but the work still needs to be done. I can't guarantee that if I don't complete the task tonight, he won't really hurt Guo'er. 0

The Remote Control Spirit is useless, and I can't find the switch. The situation has fallen into a deadlock. 0

I smoked, continuing to smoke. After finishing three cigarettes, the phone rang again. I didn't even look at the number and impatiently answered, "Hello, what now?" 0

"Ghost Brother, it's me! Hurry up and open the door! I can't get in!" Fatty's voice was particularly grating yet oddly familiar in my ear. 0

"You finished that quickly?" I was taken aback. 0

"No, I'm alone!" Fatty immediately replied. 0

"Okay, wait a moment." 0

I pressed the elevator button and ran to the company entrance to let Fatty in. "Where's your partner?" 0

"Do you remember Lily Baby?" Fatty chuckled. "I introduced him to Lily Baby; he probably won't be getting out of bed tonight!" 0

I suddenly recalled Xu Qingyu's unsteady footsteps and chuckled lightly. 0

Walking into the Coffee Room, Fatty was astonished to see the curved blades in the elevator and exclaimed, "Ghost Brother, are you risking your life here!" 0

"Who isn't?" I let Fatty into the elevator. After explaining the situation above, I pressed the button for the elevator to go up. 0

Fatty looked outside curiously and asked, "The Remote Control Spirit isn't working either?" 0

I sighed dejectedly and shook my head. 0

"Just smash it if it's useless!" Fatty picked up an ashtray from the elevator floor and threw it at the iron box. This guy used to be on the basketball team and still holds the school's shot put record, so his aim and strength were quite good. Plus, he had excellent eyesight. With a loud clang, the iron box was knocked down by Fatty's ashtray. 0

Before I could express my opinion, Fatty proudly said, "How about that? Can you see any infrared now?" 0

I looked through the mobile camera and, to my surprise, there really was none. What had I spent so long doing before? It felt like chasing after a beautiful woman: "Hey, let me buy you a car so we can be friends," and she flatly refused; "How about I buy you a house?" Again, she refused. Finally, when you pick up a stick to hit her, she immediately says, "Where are we going to play, handsome?" Sometimes it really does take non-violent means to get cooperation. 0

The elevator door was about ten meters away from the glass case in the lobby. Fatty and I moved cautiously, stopping every step to observe our surroundings. After a while, we finally approached the glass case carefully, with that enormous key right in front of us. 0

"How do we break this?" Fatty asked, pointing at the glass case. 0

"I guess we need to place our hand on that screen," I said, indicating the platform in front of the glass case where a liquid crystal display was glowing green. This should be a scanner; once you place your palm on it and it verifies correctly, the glass case will open. 0

"Let's do it! The sooner we finish, the sooner I can go back for the second half!" Fatty said cheerfully. 0

I placed my hand on the LCD screen, and immediately a green light lit up brightly, casting a ghastly hue on both our faces. With a buzzing sound, a white light slowly scanned from the bottom of the screen to the top. After pausing for about a second, there was a click from the glass case followed by a faint buzzing sound as it slowly opened ninety degrees, making the key within reach. 0

Just as I was about to grab the key after releasing my hand, an eerie voice suddenly echoed in the air: "Beast, let go of that key!" 0
