Zhong Kui's Diary
Everyone present is going to die?
If it were someone else saying this, I would definitely scoff at it. However, since Lou Wei said it, I truly have no reason to doubt. After all, if the six plain-looking men behind Lingfeng are as formidable as I am, that makes six experts. Lou Wei looks imposing and exudes the aura of a top-notch master.
In contrast, on our side, Aijia Yu and Brother Five are injured, A Long and the Black-clad Man have combat abilities that are at most on par with Fatty, Xiao Qingcheng is a Taoist, and her ghost-catching spells might not be effective against people. Cui Gu Yi is even less useful, busy playing with a spoon.
"It's rare to be out like this; my hands are really itching. Who's the strongest on your side? I want to have some fun," Lou Wei said, casually rolling his neck and taking off his jacket, tossing it aside.
Cui Gu Yi and the others all turned their gazes toward me. With Aijia Yu injured, I naturally had the highest combat ability among the remaining people.
This was clearly a cat playing with a mouse, but the mouse had no choice in the matter. I chuckled lightly and stepped forward into an open space, cupping my fists toward Lou Wei: "So, Lou Wei, are you still recruiting?"
Lou Wei stepped forward as well, standing three meters in front of me and looking at me with interest: "Recruiting? We do have that plan, but unfortunately, it's not your turn."
"Can't even chat a bit? That's really boring! Since that's the case, let's get started!" Knowing full well that I might not be his match, I still wouldn't show fear. Confidence is crucial for martial artists; if you back down before even fighting, what's the point of fighting at all?
I dashed forward three steps and leaped up in front of Lou Wei, driving my left knee straight toward his chin. This is one of my signature moves; Fatty calls it the "Open-Mouth Smile." I used it twice during my underground fighting days, and everyone hit by it ended up with dislocated jaws, their faces resembling wide-open smiles.
Lou Wei let out a light exclamation, his expression turning serious as he stepped back. He pressed both hands together to push down on my knee. I took advantage of this and lowered my left leg while twisting my body in mid-air. My right knee arced upward like lightning and struck toward Lou Wei's left ear.
Lou Wei let out a soft shout as he raised his left hand to block my knee. His right palm then slammed against his left arm with great force. I was unexpectedly sent flying two meters away by his strike.
Motherfucker, that's some serious strength.
I gathered my energy but wasn't quite ready to launch another attack when Lou Wei grinned: "Now it's my turn."
Before his words faded, Lou Wei dashed forward three steps and leaped into the air. All I saw was a knee rapidly enlarging in front of me. Instinctively, I pressed down with both hands. Lou Wei used my momentum against me while his other knee came crashing toward my head. The force and speed of this strike were clearly stronger than mine; the fierce wind from it made my cheeks sting.
Damn it, this isn't how you play! That was clearly my move!
I barely had time to curse when I hurriedly raised my hands to the side. A powerful force slammed into me, and I felt as if I had been hit by a speeding car—specifically, a dump truck. My body was thrown five meters away, and as I struggled to get up, I felt a sweetness in my throat. I opened my mouth and coughed up blood, kneeling on one knee while supporting myself with one hand, gasping for breath.
Something rolled off my chest, and when I looked down, it was my phone. It hadn’t been smashed; it had just fallen out due to the force of my fall.
“Let’s do it again!” Lou Wei said with a smile as he walked toward me.
“Wait, wait!” I gasped, wiping the blood from my mouth with one hand while extending the other with my fingers spread wide. It was an instinctive gesture, much like a pedestrian trying to stop a vehicle while crossing the street.
“What’s wrong? Do you need something?” Lou Wei stopped about a meter away from me. At this distance, he could easily kick my head in.
I had no real issue; I just wanted to catch my breath. After taking a moment to breathe, I picked up my phone and said randomly, “If you kill me now, all the evidence against your families will be published on Website tomorrow! I mean all of them!”
Lou Wei raised an eyebrow and stepped forward, grabbing my collar and lifting me up. He said sharply, “What did you say?”
Even though Lou Wei was holding me like a chicken, I felt a surge of joy inside.
There’s a chance! This motherfucker definitely has a chance!
Originally, I just wanted to buy some time to recover my strength, but I didn’t expect that my careless words would throw someone as formidable as Lou Wei off balance. This meant I had hit the nail on the head—Lou Wei was afraid of this.
With that thought in mind, my mind became active again as I pretended to roll my eyes dramatically. “Go ahead and kill me! If you have the guts, do it now! Tomorrow there will be all kinds of information about various families on several Websites. By the way, you have quite a powerful backing; I wonder if your influence can shut down all those Websites? Also, I've heard that many foreign forces are lurking on major Websites right now. Who knows if they’ll repost it immediately? It’s possible that even if you delete it before they see it, they might still get it. Let’s take a gamble; your odds are pretty high!”
The more I spoke like this, the tighter Lou Wei's grip on my collar became. I could even feel his hand trembling from exertion—perhaps out of fear.
Lou Wei took a deep breath. “Do you think just because you say this that I'll believe you?”
I switched my phone to the photo album and pulled up some pictures of the Ling Family. “Well, here’s evidence against the Ling Family. You should be familiar with the material of this page, right? Sorry for not getting the angle right when taking the picture; it doesn’t look very good.”
Lou Wei glared at me and took several deep breaths before releasing me and pushing me to the ground. After pondering for a moment, he looked up at Cui Gu Yi and said, “I’ve heard you’re good with computers; is there any possibility for this guy?”
I chuckled inwardly; asking Cui Gu Yi about this kind of thing—was Lou Wei really that clueless?
Cui Gu Yi answered honestly, "Many websites and forums have enabled scheduled uploads, and Zheng Nan's definitely can achieve that."
Lou Wei scratched his head, turned in circles several times in the middle of the hall, sighed deeply, and said to me, "What do you want?"
"I don't want to die, and I don't want Yang Guo'er to die. I don't want any of the people here to die!" I thought for a moment and made this request.
"Sure," Lou Wei readily agreed.
This guy agreed so readily; he must be thinking about silencing me after I cancel the scheduled upload. With that thought in mind, I continued, "I want to join your Dragon Group. No, we all want to join your Dragon Group!"
Lou Wei smiled, seemingly aware of my intentions: "I, Lou Wei, am not fickle. Good things will never be regretted. You can join the Dragon Group, but for them, I still need to see if they qualify."
Looking at Lou Wei's smile, I felt a bit uneasy. Even if he turns against me later, what can I do? Can I really ask him for a written agreement with a fingerprint?
Frowning in thought, I suddenly remembered something. I stood up, brushed off the dust from my clothes, and said with a smile, "Lou Wei, I know many organizations have certain thresholds for joining. In the martial world, this is called a Blood Oath. I wonder if the Dragon Group requires one?"
As soon as I said this, Cui Gu Yi and the others' expressions changed dramatically. In their minds, a Blood Oath meant that they would be killed and offered as sacrifices.
Lou Wei thought the same way and his smile deepened: "Oh? You want to offer their heads as a greeting gift?"
"Can we talk privately?" I suddenly created a suspenseful moment. Lou Wei didn't mind and followed me to a secluded area outside the warehouse.
I took out the Book of Life and Death and recounted its origins before quietly watching him. I knew very well that this item held value far beyond these families for certain individuals. Clearly, Lou Wei also recognized its worth; his eyes sparkled with unusual light as his hands trembled slightly while pointing at the wooden box in my hand: "Is yours real?"
I was prepared for such skepticism and opened the box like presenting a treasure. The Greedy Wolf Scroll floated in mid-air, half dark red and half deep blue, with symbols on the pages appearing to float on the surface.
"I have one scroll on hand; I've already found out where the other two are. As long as we gather seven scrolls... heh heh! You know what that means. By the way, only I can perform the fusion ritual for this treasure; you should be grateful that you didn't kill me earlier!" I laughed and nudged Lou Wei with my elbow as if we were old friends.
Lou Wei completely disregarded my gesture; his eyes sparkled with excitement. He opened his mouth several times but didn't say anything.
I placed the Greedy Wolf Scroll back into the box, closed it, and handed it to Lou Wei: "If you don't believe me, you can take this back to study it. Don't say I didn't warn you; this thing reacts to human bodies, and that reaction can be deadly."
Lou Wei took the box and carefully placed it in his pocket. At that moment, I knew my life was saved, as well as Guo'er, Lingfeng, and Fatty's lives. In fact, everyone from the Ling Family, Yang Family, and Xiao Family was safe. I wondered how they would express their gratitude towards me. Would Guo'er offer herself to me?
Lou Wei's attitude towards me changed dramatically; he was all smiles, completely different from before, which surprised me. Lou Wei said, "Damn it, I was just pretending earlier. It felt terrible to act all serious. Now that I have this Book of Life and Death, who cares about pretending? As long as I report this matter up the chain, I can do whatever I want! Damn it, I've long wanted to quit being the leader of the Dragon Group. It's like living in the shadows. Do you know what my dream is? I just want to be a carpenter!"
As we walked into the warehouse with our arms around each other, everyone stared in shock. Lou Wei waved his hand and said, "Misunderstanding! Misunderstanding! This matter is settled! Long Qi, take the stuff and let's go!"
Long Qi was the man I had fought with in the abandoned building. He came over and picked up my coat, which contained evidence against various families. Surprisingly, he smiled at me and said, "Your Kung Fu is pretty good!"
"Not bad!" I replied with a smile.
After Lou Wei and his group left, Fatty immediately surrounded me and said, "Ghost Brother, did you sell your looks? This change is too much for me to handle!"
I kicked Fatty away and walked up to Guo'er, hugging her tightly.
