Zhong Kui's Diary
Earlier, Fatty twisted his ankle downstairs, but he seemed to have forgotten about it. When he charged at me, he stumbled and fell sideways, right next to Gong Ping'an.
Fatty weighed nearly two hundred pounds and immediately knocked Gong Ping'an off balance. He staggered back a few steps, barely stopping just half a foot away from the floating Book of Life and Death. Just as Gong Ping'an, pale-faced, was about to breathe a sigh of relief, he suddenly swayed again, seemingly pushed hard from the side, and crashed into the Book of Life and Death.
Before I could think further, there was a hissing sound, like a red-hot iron block being suddenly thrown into cold water. In an instant, Gong Ping'an was enveloped in a large cloud of white mist. When the mist dissipated, Gong Ping'an had astonishingly turned into an ice sculpture.
I was stunned, and Fatty was also dumbfounded as we both stared at the frozen Gong Ping'an.
Fatty made a few choking sounds in his throat, seemingly unable to believe that this was real. After a moment, he limped over to the ice sculpture and touched it with his right hand.
With a clang, the ice sculpture shattered instantly, scattering pieces all over the ground. Among the shards lay a Sun Wukong Mask. In addition, a page of the Book of Life and Death rose slowly and intact, glowing with deep blue and dark red light alongside another page of the Book of Life and Death hovering nearby. It seemed that this page was the Kaiyang Scroll that Gong Ping'an had snatched from Yang Zhou.
The scattered ice chunks varied greatly in size; some larger pieces acted like mirrors reflecting Fatty's increasingly ferocious face.
While Fatty approached the ice sculpture, I had already moved next to Kong Xuan and lightly kicked his temple with my toes.
Kong Xuan grunted twice, propping himself up with his hands while looking at me in confusion. His lips were smeared with blood, as if he still hadn't understood the situation. I quickly squatted down to help him up and shouted, "Wake up! Fatty has been possessed by Devouring Soul!"
I could clearly feel Kong Xuan's body stiffen; then he shook his head vigorously, his eyes suddenly brightening.
At this moment, Fatty also turned around to look at us with flickering eyes. Suddenly, his gaze intensified with golden light, dazzling like the sun and nearly blinding me. I could only lower my gaze to look at Fatty's stomach to avoid direct eye contact.
"It’s not my fault; you were the one who knocked it over," I argued desperately while elbowing Kong Xuan to signal him to unleash his ultimate move quickly.
"Something feels off! I can't muster any strength," Kong Xuan mumbled. Curious, I glanced at him and noticed that both of his front teeth were missing, causing his speech to be somewhat slurred.
"Stop struggling. When I grabbed your neck earlier, I already devoured all your abilities. You won't recover your energy for a month," Fatty sneered. "Do you think the name 'Devour' is just for show?"
Kong Xuan looked as if he had been punched in the chest, taking a step back with his face turning red. He began to frantically search his pockets, pulling out various small items.
Cigarettes, a lighter, a wallet, keys, coins... and surprisingly, even a Durex.
"Can you find something useful? What about the Primordial Ruler? The Cosmic Cloth?" I exclaimed anxiously. Were you planning to burn him with the lighter or stab him with the keys?
"All my magical items are in the Spatial Bag. I don't even have the strength to open it right now!" Kong Xuan said with a frown.
What the hell is a Spatial Bag? There was no time to think about that. I urgently asked, "Do you have any other tricks?"
Kong Xuan shook his head with a bitter smile. "Zheng Nan, there's nothing we can do. Our only hope now is that you can Transform Illusions into Reality and deal with this Fatty!"
I moved my limbs a bit. "Transforming Illusions into Reality is something you taught me. Why aren't you using it? If we work together, our chances would be much greater!"
"Do you not have ears? He just absorbed all my abilities! Right now, I can only produce urine; do you want some?" Kong Xuan said, somewhat irritated.
"Aren't you still holding onto a Hundred Flowers Dissolution Pill? Just take it and you'll be fine!" I felt we were being a bit foolish, bickering while facing such a great enemy. Meanwhile, Fatty just watched us coldly, his eyes flickering, and I couldn't understand what he was plotting.
"All my magical items are in my Spatial Bag; I can't take them out! Talking to you is so exhausting!" Kong Xuan suddenly lowered his voice. "Fatty seems off."
I noticed it too. After all this time of banter between Kong Xuan and me, Fatty had merely observed us coldly without making any move or even taunting us—this was not typical of him. To put it in trendy terms, this was unscientific.
Could it be that Fatty was experiencing some kind of issue? He looked calm on the surface but might be internally struggling? With that thought in mind, I looked at Fatty and felt something unnatural in his gaze.
There was definitely something strange about him. I let out a grunt and threw a punch at Fatty's face. I didn't think this punch would actually hit him; I had already thought of three or four follow-up moves, considering how he might dodge and how I should respond.
With a thud, unexpectedly, my fist landed solidly on Fatty's face. I could see the flesh on his face ripple, and given the force behind my punch, not just Fatty, but even two Fattys standing together would be sent flying by me. I believed in my strength.
Once again, things took an unexpected turn. After being hit, Fatty did indeed fly out, but only his lower body flew away, as if he had transferred all the power of my punch to his lower half. His face was pressed tightly against my fist, and he spun around like a giant windmill, rotating around my fist before returning to his original position. The only change was that the flesh on his face had spun into a 360-degree meat swirl.
A strange smile suddenly appeared on Fatty's face. "Do you know? Only when you hit my body with all your strength can I build an energy bridge with you."
"What energy bridge? What do you mean? Kong Xuan, come over here and help me." I pulled back my fist with all my might, but it remained unmoving as if it were welded to Fatty's face.
Kong Xuan came over and grabbed my arm to pull me, but it was completely limp and lacked any strength. He gave a wry smile. "Pulling is useless; all the energy in my body has been completely absorbed by this Fatty."
Fatty chuckled ominously. "Kong Xuan is now just a useless person. You should think about yourself!"
"Are you planning to absorb my energy too?" I once again tried to retract my fist with great force, but it still didn't budge.
"How could that be possible? Haha, that would be too wasteful. I just remembered that you have the Yin-Yang Physique; only you can touch the Book of Life and Death. I want to use your body to absorb the energy from the Book of Life and Death and see if I can break through the final barrier of fusion!" Fatty pointed at the Book of Life and Death floating in mid-air, indicating for me to go over.
So that's why I'm a bridge; it turns out it's meant to connect him with the Book of Life and Death.
Wait a minute, since he wants that, when the time comes, I'll just grab the Book of Life and Death and smash it onto him—wouldn't that solve the problem? No, that would freeze Fatty into ice shards or burn him into charcoal. How about this? I could threaten him with the treasure mirror and make him leave Fatty's body. Yes, that's it! I happily made this decision and couldn't help but give myself a pat on the back for thinking so quickly.
Feigning reluctance, I walked up to the Book of Life and Death while Fatty's face remained glued to my fist, urging me with a sideways glance to hurry up.
I grasped the Book of Life and Death with my left hand, ready to exert force, but an immense suction emanated from Fatty's face, as if his face were a gigantic vortex that instantly pulled all the energy from my body. Strangely, even though I lost all my strength, I could still stand rigidly in place like a stiff puppet.
I felt as if I were a sealed container; after the suction drew out the energy within me, my body formed a vacuum that began to draw energy from the Yin Yang Treasure Mirror in my left hand.
A faint stream of air slowly seeped through my hand. This airflow was difficult to describe; it was composed of two intertwined currents—one warm and the other cool. These two different streams twisted around each other, slowly and steadily penetrating deeper into my body through my left hand.
Fatty seemed to sense this situation. With a smirk, he intensified the suction, causing the strange airflow to accelerate. In no time, it reached my shoulders and was about to flow into my right hand and back to Fatty's face.
At that moment, a sharp pain suddenly shot through the wound on my head, as if the vacuum in my body caused this injury to collapse as well. As the pain intensified, the sensation of collapse grew stronger until it felt like someone had stabbed me with a knife at that wound. Then, a torrent of air surged wildly into me from above.
At this time, the energy from the Book of Life and Death was positioned right at the center of my collarbones. When it collided with the airflow descending from above, it was as if a world war had erupted; the two energies intertwined and entangled wildly before spinning furiously to form a massive vortex.
This vortex was so incredibly powerful; it generated an overwhelming suction far stronger than what came from Fatty's face. I could even hear a whoosh as pure energy was drawn from Fatty's face. It turned out that Fatty's attempt to absorb energy had backfired, resulting in him losing his own energy to this inexplicably appearing vortex.
Once this energy entered my body, it collided with the vortex, causing chaos within me. My internal organs felt disordered; I tasted blood in my throat and couldn't help but spit out a mouthful of fresh blood. The cold and hot currents within me quickly retreated back into the Book of Life and Death, while the airflow from above merged with the energy coming from Fatty, integrating into my body and evenly distributing throughout my meridians.
What is this? Unable to resist, I moved my limbs slightly. This movement pulled my hand away from Fatty's face, causing him to collapse to the ground like a deflated balloon. At the same time, a mask fell beside him from an unknown source; it was a Rogue Rabbit Mask.
