Zhong Kui's Diary
Seeing the Blood Characters on the wall, we were at a loss for words. Chen Fei'er had collapsed in the elevator, and Du Weidong and the others did nothing to help her. This led to Chen Fei'er harboring resentment, and even after her death, she transformed into a Vengeful Spirit to take revenge on them, killing them one by one.
Kang Qin looked at us with suspicion. I no longer hid the truth and told him everything that had happened. After hearing it, Kang Qin gasped in shock, momentarily speechless.
Now that Chen Fei'er had avenged herself, the matter was settled. Kang Qin would handle the aftermath while Kong Xuan and I found a place to eat.
It had been a while since we had a proper meal, and I found today's food particularly delicious.
After eating, I called Qingfeng Daozhang to inform him that Chen Fei'er's issue was resolved and asked how many rituals he still had left. Qingfeng Daozhang mentioned he had three more, so we agreed to meet up after those to return to Star City together.
The three of us relaxed and found a bar where we drank freely until it was dark and gloomy outside. With just a sliver of rationality left, we returned to the hotel to sleep. When I woke up the next afternoon, Kong Xuan was sprawled out on the bed while Fatty and I were sleeping on the floor.
Naturally, we needed some relaxation. Although we weren't familiar with the area and it wasn't appropriate to ask Gu Shuchang for help, we knew Ma Zhenkai. I called Ma Zhenkai looking for a place to unwind. He understood my intent immediately and gave us an address and phone number. As long as we mentioned his name, we would definitely have a great time.
We took a taxi directly to Pearl of the Sea, one of the most famous clubs in Moon City.
Pearl of the Sea isn't actually by the sea. The taxi driver explained with a smile that it was named after the owner Yuan Canghai and his wife Yue Mingzhu.
Of course, this was just a light-hearted joke from the taxi driver; who would really delve into its true meaning? Besides, Pearl of the Sea is a nice name—elegant and with good connotations.
After getting out of the car, I looked up to see a large sign with silver background and black letters: Pearl of the Sea. Since it wasn't evening yet, there were no neon lights, which took away some of the flashy feel but also added an air of nobility. The lobby had at least ten-meter-high ceilings, exuding an impressive atmosphere typical of high-end clubs.
I made a phone call, and soon after, a stylish lady with light makeup rushed towards us from inside. With a smile in her eyes and her lips slightly parted like cherry blossoms, she said softly, "Are you Mr. Zhong? I'm Zhang Mei. If you don't mind, just call me Sister Mei."
I greeted with a smile, secretly thinking that even in this international Capital City, my mother had such good manners.
Sister Mei led us into the hall, winding through until we reached a lounge. She invited us to sit down, took out a pack of soft China from her Handbag, handed each of us one, and helped us light them. Then she smiled and said, "Since you three are guests of President Ma, I assume you often go out for fun. I won't take up too much of your time; I'll call someone in for you to choose from. If you find someone you like, just let me know, okay?"
We nodded in agreement. Sister Mei gracefully walked out, and soon returned with eight women dressed in professional suits. It seemed today's theme was office ladies.
As my gaze swept over their faces, when I reached the sixth woman, I couldn't help but exclaim and laugh, "I want her!"
This woman was actually the one we encountered when we came out of the Jewelry Company at Baisheng Building. At that time, she almost stepped on my foot and not only didn't apologize but also shot me a glare.
Tsk tsk, a gentleman's revenge is never too late.
The woman seemed to recognize me as well; her expression changed, and with a startled cry, she turned and ran out.
I looked at Sister Mei with a smile: "What's going on here, Sister Mei?"
Sister Mei's face looked somewhat unnatural: "This girl... she's gone rogue. You all take a look at the others first; I'll be right back."
With that, Sister Mei left with a dark expression. It was no wonder; the guest had specifically chosen a woman, yet she suddenly wanted to resist. Wasn't that slapping the guest in the face? Although I held no grudge, Sister Mei likely thought otherwise. On one hand, she might feel embarrassed; on the other hand, she feared we might complain to Ma Zhenkai. If President Ma got upset, she would really be in trouble.
Fatty and Kong Xuan giggled as they each picked two women. The remaining three women exchanged glances, unsure whether to stay or leave. Just as I was about to suggest they leave first, footsteps approached from outside. Sister Mei entered with the woman who had run away earlier, followed by a man in a short-sleeved shirt.
Sister Mei cheerfully said, "Ting, quickly apologize to Boss Zhong."
However, Ting hesitated and glanced at the man behind her: "Brother Li, can you help me?"
The man was taken aback when he saw me, exclaiming in surprise. Upon recognizing him, I immediately stood up and shouted, "So it's you!"
Sister Mei and the others were startled, unsure why I reacted that way.
After a brief moment of hesitation, the man turned and ran. I quickly gave chase.
Fatty cursed behind me and followed suit, having also recognized the man.
This man was actually the driver who had dropped off Manager Zhang and President Wang; his name seemed to be Li. I had been troubled by this matter for a while, and now that I had suddenly encountered the driver related to the two female ghosts, I definitely needed to ask him some questions.
Although the driver was quick on his feet and quite agile, he couldn't outrun someone like me who had trained. I'm not boasting; if I were to run a hundred meters, I could definitely do it in under eleven seconds. That’s a time that would qualify as elite-level athleticism.
In just a few strides, I caught up to the driver and grabbed his collar. With a hard pull, the buttons of his shirt flew off. He was surprisingly nimble; he swung his arms back and forth and managed to slip out of his shirt, darting forward in an attempt to escape again.
Unfortunately for him, his luck was not great. After my pull caused him to lose his direction, he crashed straight into a wall with a loud bang. The impact sent him bouncing back to the ground, where he sat dazed, holding his forehead, likely stunned from the collision.
Fatty and Kong Xuan caught up with us. Fatty pointed at the driver and laughed at Kong Xuan, saying, "This guy is the one who drove those two female ghosts."
The three of us stood nearby, laughing and pointing for a while. Eventually, the driver groggily got back on his feet and stopped trying to flee, looking pale as he faced me.
"I'm not going to cause you any trouble. If you hit the wall again with the same force as before, I won't ask anything," I said with a smile. Yes, I wouldn't ask anything; however, if Fatty wanted to ask something, there was nothing I could do about it since he was also a victim.
Rubbing his forehead, the driver forced a smile and said, "I won't run anymore. What do you want to ask?"
At that moment, Sister Mei walked up behind me and asked in surprise, "Boss Zhong, is there some misunderstanding between you and Li?"
"No, there's no misunderstanding!" I pulled three hundred dollars from my wallet and handed it to Sister Mei. "Use this to buy some drinks. Please help us find a room. I need to discuss some private matters with this... Li, right?"
Sister Mei took the money, smiled lightly, and turned to lead us into a Mahjong room. After we entered, she turned around and closed the door behind her.
As soon as Sister Mei left, the driver wore a mournful expression and said, "Bosses, I'm just doing my job for the money!"
"Alright, just get to the point. Tell me everything that happened without hiding anything. I already know most of the truth." In reality, I didn't know much of the truth; I was just trying to bluff.
"You already know? Did Hui tell you or did Sister Rong? Uh, could it be that Sister Mei told you?" Li's head, which had been hanging low, suddenly lifted as he looked at us in shock.
"Just explain the situation first and see if it matches what I know."
The three of us sat smoking while Li stood in front of us. For a moment, I felt like a teacher interrogating a student.
Li didn't hold back and told us everything that had happened.
That morning, someone approached Mommy Sister Mei with a high offer to find two sisters to perform in a show, with me and Fatty as the leading roles. Sister Rong and Hui took on this job and transformed into the female leads. As for Li, he was merely a Dragon Stand-in actor; however, he did get some screen time, which is why I remembered him.
I stood up, and Li thought I was going to hit him, instinctively shrinking back. I laughed heartily and said, "I'm not going to hit you."
I walked to the door and opened it, glancing around. I noticed Sister Mei was talking to a girl in the distance and quickly waved her over.
Sister Mei seemed not to see me at first; it was the girl beside her who gestured towards me. Only then did Sister Mei look over, raise her hand, nod with a smile, and after saying something to the girl, she hurried over.
I asked her about the customer looking for someone to act in a show. Sister Mei was taken aback for a moment before covering her mouth with a smile. "So it turns out President Ma is trying to mess with both of you!"
"What? The one you paid to act is Ma Zhenkai?" I was surprised to hear this. What does Ma Zhenkai mean? Is it someone who specifically pays others to play tricks and scare us? This doesn't make sense. If it weren't for Kong Xuan arriving in time, we wouldn't even know if they were ghosts. Besides, didn't Kong Xuan's Azure Jade Leaf also indicate that they were ghosts?
I smiled and said to Sister Mei, "Then I'll choose Hui and Sister Rong tonight. Please call them over."
Sister Mei smiled slightly, "Actually, if you're not satisfied with the first batch of beauties, those two will appear in the second batch."
Back in the room, I patted Li's shoulder, "You're off the hook; you can leave now!"
Li looked at me skeptically, "Really nothing's wrong?"
Fatty laughed, "Are you saying you want to stay and play a few rounds of Mahjong with us?"
"I wouldn't dare!" Li quickly retreated.
Before long, Sister Mei walked in with two women. Upon closer inspection, it was indeed Manager Zhang and President Wang from that night.
