Zhong Kui's Diary
By the way, what did Yangli Daxian mean by Tang Tang Tang right before he died? Was he referring to someone with the surname Tang? Or was it about soup? And that person outside the window, am I his disciple? How did I become his disciple? My master has switched careers and is now the chief instructor of 800,000 Massage therapists in Star City. Would he come to a place like this?
After thinking for a while, my mind was in chaos, so I simply sat on the sofa and smoked. After a bit, I gradually calmed down. Anyway, I would find out the answer in a few days. Instead of getting all worked up now, it would be better to take things one step at a time.
With that thought, I felt much more at ease. I turned off the TV and went to the bedroom to sleep.
I don't know how long I slept, but I was awakened by a knocking sound. Groggily opening my eyes, I realized it was already bright outside.
I shouted, "Who is it?"
"It's me!" A female voice came from outside the door; it sounded like Sang Xin.
I opened the door and indeed found Sang Xin there, holding a lunchbox and smiling at me. "Aren't you up yet? It's time for breakfast."
I was somewhat surprised by her attitude. This woman seemed like a mischievous spirit; you could never guess what she was thinking. The first time I met her, she left an impression of being cunning and overbearing. When I accidentally bumped into her chest, it felt quite unrestrained. After entering Dominion Villa, she had ignored me completely, and now she appeared like a friendly neighbor girl. It was truly baffling.
I yawned widely and invited her in. "Your benefits are pretty good; you even provide breakfast. What's in this lunchbox?"
"Char Siu Bao!" Sang Xin sat down on the sofa, looking at me with interest.
"Char Siu Bao?" I stepped forward to open the lunchbox. "It wouldn't be Human Flesh Bun, would it?"
Not long ago, I had watched an old thriller movie called Human Flesh Bun. Anthony Wong won the Best Actor award for this film; the plot and dialogue were quite captivating. Because of that, when Sang Xin mentioned Char Siu Bao, I naturally responded with that.
"Human flesh bun? Dream on! The only meat circulating in the market probably has additives except for human flesh. If there really were Human Flesh Buns, they wouldn't be for you; we have plenty of leaders around here." Sang Xin rolled her eyes at me.
"The taste is not bad." I tore open a bun and started eating it eagerly.
"Don't you brush your teeth?"
"I did!" I replied, my mouth full, mumbling.
"Liars, you clearly just got up when I came in!" Sang Xin looked at me disdainfully.
I quickly chewed a few times, stretched my neck, and with effort swallowed the bun, smiling as I said, "I brushed last night."
Sang Xin rolled her eyes, pulled out a phone from her pocket, and started playing a game.
After finishing breakfast, I sat down next to Sang Xin and sniffed the air. "Hey, this perfume smells very familiar. Is it from Six Deities?"
Sang Xin paused her game and asked curiously, "What brand is Six Deities? I've never heard of it. Is it a new series from some brand?"
"Six Deities, a brand under Shanghai Jahwa," I replied with a smile.
Sang Xin immediately laughed and scolded, "You’re the one using Six Deities!"
Upon mentioning Six Deities, I suddenly thought of the old monk from General Mountain's Thunder Sound Temple and couldn't help but ask, "Sang Xin, Scarred Boss and that Sixth Sense Monk must be from your Dominion Villa, right?"
Sang Xin nodded, exited the game, and looked at me with a half-smile. "Are you really curious about how all this works?"
"Of course I'm curious," I replied.
"I can tell you some things right now, otherwise you'll be at a loss during tonight's Welcome Dinner," Sang Xin said with a charming smile. "However, I can only share part of it; some things can only be revealed after a while."
Hearing this from Sang Xin, my eyes lit up, and I quickly asked, "Then hurry up and tell me."
"That's right, your Scarred Boss and Sixth Sense Monk are both from Dominion Villa, but they each have their own names within the villa."
"Oh? Scarred Boss isn't really called Tiger Force Immortal, is he?" I asked in surprise.
"That's correct, he is Tiger Force Immortal, and your Sixth Sense Monk is known as Dragon King's Third Prince in the villa," Sang Xin replied with a smile.
"Dragon King's Third Prince? Then that old man must be White Dragon Horse?" Something seemed to click in my mind, and I slapped my forehead. "Could it be that everyone here has names from Journey to the West?"
"Wrong!" Sang Xin shook her head. "There are nine independent departments in Dominion Villa, and Journey to the West is just the name of one of those departments. Yangli Daxian, Deer Power Immortal, Tiger Force Immortal, and White Dragon Horse all belong to the Journey to the West department."
Upon hearing this, I exclaimed, "Stop right there!"
Sang Xin looked at me in surprise and fell silent.
"I want to know the truth, not hear your stories. What does Journey to the West have to do with me? I've watched it every summer vacation and can recite it for you. Even if you're trying to fool me with a story, please choose a different one," I said in frustration.
"I'm not joking with you; your department is indeed called Journey to the West," Sang Xin said seriously.
"Our department? Are you saying that I'm also a member of the Journey to the West department? Haha, then may I ask which deity I am?" I laughed angrily; it seemed this girl intended to keep joking with me.
"You are Sun Wukong!" Sang Xin said emphatically.
"Hahaha, Sun Wukong? Then let me ask you, why am I Sun Wukong? Have you seen my skills with the Ruyi Jingu Bang?" The stick I referred to was, of course, that kind of suddenly large and suddenly small 'Ruyi Jingu Bang.' It's not that I enjoy being frivolous; it's just that she always jokes with me.
If you want a girl not to joke with you, you have to tell her some risqué jokes. Of course, this only applies to girls; married women are an exception.
However, it seemed that Sang Xin did not catch my implication. Instead, she nodded seriously and said, "That's right. The reason we chose you to be Sun Wukong is because you can control certain things that others cannot."
"So what exactly do you want me to do?" Seeing that Sang Xin didn't seem to be joking, I immediately dropped my sarcastic tone and asked in surprise.
"I can't tell you that right now. Anyway, your department is under a lot of pressure for this operation at the villa. Your supervisor, Tang Seng, has already complained to Master Lin several times," Sang Xin smiled and continued, "I know all about last night's incident. The person who killed Yangli Daxian was your master, Tang Seng."
My master, Tang Seng? What does that even mean?
So it turns out that before Yangli Daxian died, he was referring to Tang Seng.
"Are you saying that tonight's Welcome Dinner is to welcome me as... Sun Wukong into the team?" I felt a bit awkward.
"Yes, with your addition, your department will be considered fully staffed," Sang Xin said with a smile.
"Fully staffed? What about the deceased Tiger Force Immortal and Deer Power Immortal? And what about Yangli Daxian? That's three people short!"
"Those three are just peripheral figures; the real core consists of the four of you. Oh, and there's also a White Dragon Horse," Sang Xin covered her mouth and giggled. "Sorry, I never really considered the White Dragon Horse as one of us."
As if Sun Wukong and Zhu Bajie were just regular people. I couldn't say that out loud; otherwise, it would be like slapping myself in the face. I had to change the subject and asked, "By the way, you've been saying 'you' and 'your'—aren't you part of our department?"
"Not at all; I'm from the administrative department," Sang Xin replied with a smile.
"Why is your department's name so normal while ours sounds so fantastical?" I complained.
"Not really, there's another department called 'Head West,' and another one called 'Xue Rengui's Western Expedition.' Their names are just as strange as yours," Sang Xin said with a smile.
Journey to the West, Head West, Xue Rengui's Western Expedition—tch, does the boss of this company think the word 'West' is impressive? All of them have 'West' in their names. Uh... the company wouldn't be called 'Western Factory,' would it? Unable to hold back, I asked, "Excuse me for being presumptuous, but what is the full name of our company?"
"Dominion Villa!" Sang Xin seemed surprised that I asked this question. "I've told you many times already."
...
Sang Xin and I chatted casually. Around noon, Sang Xin took the initiative to go to the kitchen and prepared a feast. He took out two bottles of beer from the fridge, and after we finished eating and washing the dishes, he continued to chat with me.
"As someone born in the '80s, do you feel a lot of pressure?"
"..."
"How many times a week do you take a shower? Do you use soap or body wash?"
"..."
"How big is your house in Star City? Do you live with your parents?"
"..."
"Do you usually eat at the company during work? Is there any meal allowance? How much of your phone bill can be reimbursed each month? Does the company have any funded trips? Do you travel abroad? Is there health treatment available overseas? Would you ask them for receipts?"
“……”
Even with the television volume turned up to the maximum, Sang Xin still stubbornly leaned over and shouted in my ear. Is she really from the Human Resources Department? I can't help but feel she belongs to the After-Sales Service Department instead. With her incessant chatter, any customer calling in to complain would likely hang up immediately.
Around four-thirty, Sang Xin received a phone call and smiled at me, saying, “Let’s go, we’re heading to the Newcomer Welcome Dinner now.”
As we walked out of the room, I followed Sang Xin, glancing around. The paths formed by branches crisscrossed, and there were more people than I had seen last night. Occasionally, I encountered small groups of passersby, all looking quite relaxed and greeting Sang Xin casually.
After walking for a while, I surprisingly spotted a familiar face—Sima Sanguang. He was following a Golden Robed Woman on another branch path.
“Hey, are you going to the Welcome Dinner too?” Sima Sanguang called out loudly.
“Yeah, I am! Which department are you in?” I responded just as loudly. Sang Xin and the Golden Robed Woman ignored us as we shouted.
“I’m in Journey to the West!”
“No way, what a coincidence! I am too! Which character do you play?”
“Zhu Bajie!” Sima Sanguang exclaimed in frustration.
