Zhong Kui's Diary
Seeing my colleagues around me with excited expressions, I couldn't help but shake my head and sigh. You fools, who knows how many of you will make it back alive? I don't understand what you're so excited about.
At the same time, I felt a sense of vigilance rising within me. When Tang Seng introduced this plan, he only mentioned activating the magic circle and then left it at that. The details about retreat were summed up in just a few words: return the same way. If we really get discovered, how could we possibly return the same way? He might not even intend for any of us to come back.
If I weren't already considering making a run for it halfway through, I would definitely question him about the detailed steps for retreat. But now, whatever happens, I won't be going in.
By the way, should I talk to Sima Sanguang? After all, we've been through life and death together. Turning to look, I saw Sima Sanguang also showing hints of excitement and anticipation on his face. I hesitated for a moment and tentatively asked, "Second Junior Brother, you seem quite happy?"
"Of course! I've long had a grudge against those Americans and Japanese. Now that there's a chance to take them down, I'm obviously thrilled! If I'd known there was such a villa, I'd have broken my head to get in!" Sima Sanguang replied with a laugh.
Forget it; I won't talk to him. I'll just find an opportunity to slip away on my own.
After roll call, Tang Seng led us in an oath, and everyone shouted along with him, "Rain of Swords, dominate the world!" The slogan nearly lifted the roof off the cafeteria.
A group of us marched out of the cafeteria, made our way to the ground level, opened the big door out of the Inner Hall, and walked all the way to the edge of the Basin. At the bottom of the steep cliff, dozens of Black-Clad Masked Figures were waiting for us.
Black-Clad Masked Figures?
Have these people watched too many martial arts films? Do they think wearing masks is cool? If they dress like this and go outside, they'll be treated as terrorists and arrested.
The five of us were walking together when Sha Monk whispered, "These black-clad folks are from the 'Head West' department. Their department head must be an idiot; all the men in their department are named Wang Jing, and all the women are named Si."
I've seen the movie "Head West." Wang Jing is the main character West's best buddy—he's quite cool—and Si is that female massage therapist West calls upon; she's very well-endowed.
"How can this department have twenty or thirty people?" I nodded toward them. "How do they distinguish their names? Wang Jing One, Wang Jing Two? Si Three?"
"Almost there, but we're using the Chinese-style numbering: A, B, C, D, and so on," Sha Monk said with a smile. "Wang Jing A, Wang Jingyi, Si Jia, Sid Ding are arranged like this."
"So what is their supervisor called?"
"West!"
...
After our group met up with the men in black, amidst a series of rustling sounds, a portal appeared on the cliff, revealing a passage. We wound our way up the passage for more than ten minutes before finally climbing up a vertical iron ladder. When we emerged, we found ourselves at the junction of branches of a large tree in the dense forest, about ten meters off the ground. I couldn't help but admire the clever design of the exit.
Once everyone was out, one of the men in black closed the exit. The group formed a line and began to move towards the outskirts of the forest. Seizing an opportunity, I asked Tang Seng, "Are Kong Xuan and his group still in the forest?"
Tang Seng smiled slightly. "I don't think much of that group. However, if there were to be any conflict resulting in casualties, it would attract attention from above, and that would be counterproductive. So, the villa sent experts to lead them away. Don't worry; no one will trouble you now."
In fact, I asked this question to gauge from his demeanor whether Kong Xuan was affiliated with the villa or not. But Tang Seng wore an innocent smile that made it impossible to guess his true thoughts.
"I mean, how could such a large base be hidden in this vast forest without the country knowing?" I casually asked.
"This falls under SSS Level Confidential. I shouldn't really tell you this, but since you're my trusted confidant, I'll let you in on it. The villa is actually a secret research base for the country—one that isn't monitored by certain intelligence agencies and directly reports to Number One," Tang Seng said mysteriously.
"How is that possible? Does Number One even agree to this plan?" I was greatly surprised.
"Of course not. Number One has so many matters to handle; how could he possibly pay attention to us? We just need to report some high-tech achievements every now and then," Tang Seng chuckled. "So, that should clear your doubts."
I thought to myself: how could the country tolerate such a base?
Just as I was about to take a few steps forward to catch up with Sima Sanguang, Tang Seng cheerfully placed a hand on my shoulder.
I asked in surprise, "What are you doing?"
"From now on, you'll stay by my side," Tang Seng replied with a bright smile, though a cold glint flashed in his eyes. "You carry a magic array with you, and I don't want you disappearing halfway!"
Damn, this beast Tang Seng actually guessed that I was thinking of slipping away.
My mind raced, and I immediately wore an expression of righteous indignation. "It's everyone's responsibility to take down America; it's a duty for the present and a benefit for generations to come. Someone once described me like this—he's either working against America or on the way to do so! With my level of awareness, how could I possibly disappear halfway?"
Tang Seng looked at me with a half-smile, "Is that so? Then I need to protect you even more. Stay close to me and don't wander off, or else..."
"Or else what?"
"Or else I'll kill you! Hmm... I know you have a cellphone. Although there's no signal in the villa, there will be once we go outside. Please hand over your phone."
"Do we really have to do this?" I took out my phone.
"It’s necessary!" Tang Seng nodded with a smile.
...
Damn, it seems this beast has set his sights on me; even my phone has been confiscated, making the difficulty of escaping halfway shoot up dramatically.
Feeling disgruntled, I followed the group forward. After walking for about four or five minutes, we finally reached the edge of the forest. Four camouflage-painted military trucks were parked on the road, all covered with camouflaged tarps. Among them, three trucks had their rear tarps opened, revealing empty cargo spaces inside.
The back cover of another Truck was tightly covered, as if it concealed something unspeakable. While I was puzzled, Tang Seng climbed onto the Truck and lifted the curtain, inviting us to get on.
Once inside, I noticed there was another curtain dividing the cabin into two sections. The back section had two long benches on either side, while the front section was unclear. After we settled in, Tang Seng lowered the back cover, and before long, the Truck roared to life and moved forward.
After about ten minutes, Tang Seng lightly coughed, stood up, and pulled aside the middle curtain. Inside sat seven Black-Clad Masked Figures. Upon seeing Tang Seng, five of them stood up and began to remove their black robes. When they unveiled their masks, I was momentarily stunned.
The five individuals before me were none other than our group of five: Tang Seng, Sima Sanguang, Sha Monk, White Dragon Horse, and myself.
Everyone had seen their own reflection in a mirror, but seeing a living version of oneself in front of you was an entirely different experience; it felt exceptionally strange.
Sima Sanguang also exclaimed, "What is going on here?"
"It's simple; these are our doubles. When we get close to the base, these five will appear before them as us. If such an important plan doesn't show our main five members, it would be strange if others didn't become suspicious. With suspicion arises doubt among them, and we do not wish to see that outcome," Tang Seng explained calmly.
Hearing this from Tang Seng, I turned to look at Sha Monk and saw his face filled with pride. It seemed that the disguises for these five were his handiwork; he truly was talented. I wondered who the mastermind behind this plan was—could it be Tang Seng? If so, his meticulousness was quite frightening.
The five doubles moved to the back of the cabin while we took our seats at the front. After lowering the curtain, I noticed there were still two Black-Clad Masked Figures sitting in front. I couldn't help but ask, "What about these two?"
One of the figures giggled and pulled down her mask, revealing a radiant smile—it was Guo'er... or rather Hua Wuqiu?
This was Hua Wuqiu; who could the other one be? It couldn't possibly be Flower Attacker—no way! Flower Attacker had lost all his powers; it shouldn't be him.
Hua Wuqiu stood up and affectionately leaned against me as she sat down. This action surprised everyone in the cabin; Sima Sanguang secretly gave me a thumbs up while Sha Monk and White Dragon Horse stared in shock—presumably because they had never met Guo'er before.
Tang Seng snorted but said nothing; he seemed quite displeased with Hua Wuqiu's actions but didn't dare reprimand her out of respect for Deputy Master.
Hua Wuqiu didn't care what they thought, just chattering and laughing. This was good; the atmosphere in the carriage became much livelier. Eventually, everyone was infected by this mood, taking turns sharing strange tales, amusing anecdotes, and so on, making the time pass easily.
The truck swayed along the road, occasionally stopping for inspections. I had no idea how the 'Head West' department operated; anyway, it was all green lights, and no one even came to check the carriage.
When we reached a gas station, the driver in front told us to get off to use the restroom. Just as I was about to stand up, Hua Wuqiu pulled me back down. I exclaimed in surprise, "What? I need to go to the restroom!"
"Are you stupid? If those outside see two Sun Wukongs, it would be chaos!" Hua Wuqiu rolled his eyes at me.
I hadn’t thought of that. Tang Seng looked at me disdainfully and said, "With your intelligence, you probably graduated through the back door."
I wasn’t annoyed; I chuckled lightly and replied, "Alright, if you're so smart, then tell me what I should do since I need to pee."
Tang Seng pulled out a mineral water bottle from under his seat and handed it to me.
I was taken aback. "Don't you think the opening of this bottle is a bit small?"
Tang Seng smiled and then pulled out a Nutritional Express bottle for me. "Is this one good enough?"
