Zhong Kui's Diary
Ghost Zombie listened to Ji Wuyuan and smiled slightly, "Can you guarantee that you won't just run off with the Yin Yang Ancient Coin?"
Ji Wuyuan was immediately furious, "Do I look like that kind of person?"
"Yes!" A cold voice came from the side. Looking over, it was the expressionless Qu Wubing.
Ji Wuyuan raised an eyebrow and glared at Qu Wubing, "We haven't fought in decades; are you itching for a fight?"
Qu Wubing ignored Ji Wuyuan's threat, standing impassively to the side, as if the previous comment had nothing to do with him.
Yun Zhihan, however, scoffed, "The matter of the Yin-Yang Ancient Coin is significant. We can't be too careful. Ji Wuyuan, if I go in alone with Zhong Zhengnan to get the Yin Yang Ancient Coin, would you feel safe?"
Ji Wuyuan was taken aback, then turned his anger into a smile, "Of course not!"
"Exactly," Yun Zhihan rolled his eyes.
"What’s there to argue about? We can all just go in together," Gugu chimed in with a playful laugh.
"Damn it, you talk too much. Wouldn't it be better to just have a fight first?" I shot a fierce glare at Gu Yi. Gugu seemed to sense something and turned back to meet my gaze, her face beaming with a smile, "What’s with that expression, Zheng Nan?"
"You're absolutely right. What if the Yin-Yang Ancient Coin in that room is fake? Then wouldn't you all be arguing for nothing?" I chuckled and took the lead toward the finance room.
Ji Wuyuan and the others followed closely behind me.
As I opened the door, Yun Zhihan muttered beside me, "Are you sure the Yin Yang Ancient Coin is in the finance room?"
"If you think Zheng Nan is lying to you, then you don't have to go in," Jiang Ziyu, who had been silent, said with a smile.
"The problem is, I've been in this finance room many times before. I've checked the safe countless times and never found the Yin Yang Ancient Coin," Yun Zhihan shrugged.
"That's because you're looking in the wrong places." With that, I unlocked the door and pushed it open.
"This valuable item, where else would it be stored if not in a safe?" Yun Zhihan exclaimed in surprise.
I chuckled lightly, stretched my arms, spat into my palm, rubbed my hands together, and pulled out a Great Hammer from the Mustard Seed Pendant. I swung it a few times and rested it on my shoulder. "Now, it's time to witness a miracle. Please make way; those who can fly should take to the air, and those who can't should stand on the table."
With that, everyone hovered in mid-air. I shouted and swung the Hammer down onto the floor. With a series of crashes, the tiles shattered beneath me.
When the golden bricks beneath the tiles were revealed, gasps of astonishment echoed from above; they clearly hadn't expected such a surprise beneath the floor.
After smashing about ten tiles, I took out a shovel. Both the Hammer and the shovel were items I had specifically bought this morning for several dozen dollars; I wondered if I could claim them as office supplies when I asked Tang Zian for reimbursement.
After moving the office desk a few times and clearing all the tiles from the floor, I uncovered several Gold Bricks underneath. Using the shovel, I poked at each Gold Brick until I found one that was loose. I pried it open, revealing a box underneath.
The box was an ordinary mooncake tin, square-shaped, with an illustration of Chang'e Flying to the Moon on its surface. There were also some words: "Prosperity and Wealth," "Reunion of the Family." It seemed like there was a typo in '合'; shouldn't it be '闔'?
Seeing this box made everyone's breaths quicken in anticipation.
I chuckled to myself and opened the box. Inside was lined with velvet, holding dozens of pigeon egg-sized red and blue gemstones along with several jade pendants. Additionally, there were about ten diamonds, each as large as a finger... Wow, diamonds that big! Each one must be over ten carats.
In one corner of the box was an exquisitely crafted smaller box. I picked it up and opened it to find a Yin-Yang Ancient Coin lying quietly inside.
Smiling, I held up the Yin-Yang Ancient Coin and stood up. "Ahem, here is the Yin-Yang Ancient Coin. Who should I give it to?"
Everyone fell silent, but their gazes on my hand holding the Yin-Yang Ancient Coin were intense and eager.
Why isn't anyone making a move? I found it strange; this calm atmosphere wasn't what I had hoped for. Shouldn't I toss the Yin-Yang Ancient Coin into the air? They could fight over it while I just watched from a distance. Yes, I should stand back; if I foolishly stood in the middle and they started fighting, I'd likely get caught in the crossfire.
Just as I was about to toss the Yin-Yang Ancient Coin into the air, Ghostly Zombie Old Man spoke up: "We all know each other well enough; if we start fighting over this Yin-Yang Ancient Coin, it'll just give Zheng Nan something to laugh about. I suggest we let Zheng Nan decide who gets this Yin-Yang Ancient Coin; whoever he wants to give it to will receive it!"
Damn, that old man is quite cunning; he immediately shifted everyone's focus onto me.
The other six looked at me thoughtfully. The foreigner John chimed in with an odd tone: "Old man, you already have two coins; why don't you sit this one out?"
Ghost Zombie chuckled softly: "The choice is in Zheng Nan's hands; if he insists on giving it to me, how could I refuse?"
"Hmph, if I really had to choose, I wouldn't give it to you. You think I'm just going to hand it over? Dream on."
The crowd began to whisper among themselves, all agreeing.
I clicked my tongue twice and scratched my head, saying, "They're all familiar faces; I can't just give it to anyone without offending someone. How about this? I'll let Ghost Zombie decide. Ghost Zombie, who do you want me to give it to, other than yourself?"
"That doesn't count!" Ji Wuyuan coldly snorted.
"How could he be the one to decide!" This was Yun Zhihan's voice.
"That's unfair!" Gugu pouted.
"Why don't you just give it to me!" said Jiang Ziyu.
...
The room erupted into chaos, and my head felt like it was swelling. Suddenly, I slammed the table and declared, "I know who to give it to."
Everyone immediately quieted down, looking at me with anticipation.
"First, I need to confirm something with you all: if you gamble, you must accept the outcome. After I announce the owner of this Yin Yang Ancient Coin, those who do not receive it cannot seek revenge on me. Also, Sha Zhiyuan, this is where it ends for you; no one is allowed to trouble him anymore." I cleared my throat and began laying out the conditions.
"Of course," everyone replied with smiles.
"Secondly... uh, there is no secondly." I grinned as I opened a computer and casually pulled up Baidu. "You will compete for this Yin Yang Ancient Coin based on your abilities—absolutely fair and just. The Yin Yang Ancient Coin Cup knowledge competition begins now."
"What?" The crowd's jaws dropped in shock.
"Of course, you can choose to forfeit," I said with a smile. "Is there anyone who wants to forfeit?"
No one spoke up.
"Since there are no forfeits, the competition starts now. It will be divided into two parts: the first part is mandatory questions, and the second part is a buzzer round..." I explained the rules of the competition without caring whether they were willing or not, and began searching for various quiz questions online to ask them.
"Well, since you all aren't fighting among yourselves and want me to choose, I'll just play a little creatively. As long as it's a competition, there will inevitably be some tension. When the time comes, I'll stir things up; I don't believe you won't end up fighting.
To be honest, none of the Demons present have any hostility towards me, especially Ji Wuyuan, who can almost be considered a half-friend. But at this moment, I still have to treat them as enemies, not because of any human-demon divide, but because once they acquire the energy of the Sun God, they will slaughter humanity.
'The first contestant is Yun Zhihan. Please listen carefully to the question: Who is the emperor with the longest reign in China? a) Li Ka-shing b) Qin Shi Huang c) Kangxi d) Cao Dama Zi.'
'I choose,' Yun Zhihan said with a smile.
'Correct answer! Ten points. Next up is Ji Wuyuan. Please listen carefully: In a company, which aspect should a Secretary most demonstrate to the Boss? a) Drinking b) Business c) Socializing.'
'What was b again?' Ji Wuyuan asked with a frown.
'Correct answer!' I said with a laugh. 'Next is Ghost Zombie...'
One by one, I continued asking questions. After seventy questions, surprisingly, it was the wooden-headed Qu Wubing who scored a perfect 70 points, while the others scored around 0 to 40 points, with Gugu scoring the lowest at 0.
'Can we change to another method? I don't usually go online, and I've never heard of these questions,' Gugu said gloomily.
'You can either continue or forfeit,' I replied with a smile.
'Hmph!' Gugu glared at me angrily and fell silent.
'Next is the buzzer round. You all have phones, right? Please place your phones on the table. After I finish reading the question, you can call my number. My number is 18--. The first one to get through will answer; ten points for a correct answer and minus ten for an incorrect one.' I announced the rules and moved a table to the center of the room for them to place their phones on.
This was also my way of provoking them; rushing to dial would inevitably lead to collisions and could spark physical conflicts... Hehe, I realized I'm quite clever.
'If there are no objections, let's begin. The first question: Who is the author of Zhong Kui's Diary? a) Cao Dama Zi b) Cao Da c) Beard d) Cao/Da/Nai/Zi. Start!'
The scene I imagined of everyone scrambling didn't happen; instead, their phones flew back into their hands, and soon they began dialing away. Before long, Gugu's number got through.
Damn it, I didn't expect you all to have this skill too! I cursed inwardly as I pressed the speakerphone button. Gugu said with a smile: 'I choose a) Cao Dama Zi.'
After answering, everyone's phones flew back onto the table again, and I felt like cursing. Helplessly, I randomly asked dozens of questions and finally weakly announced: 'After both mandatory and buzzer rounds, Qu Wubing leads with a total score of 160 points. I declare that this Yin-Yang Ancient Coin goes to Qu Wubing!'"
Everyone in the room was silent, which surprised me. Hey, do you all understand? This is a treasure that can absorb the energy of the Sun God! Aren't you even a little tempted?
Even if you aren't tempted, just looking at the greedy expressions on everyone's faces as they stared at the Yin Yang Ancient Coin showed how reluctant they were. But why weren't they making a move to snatch it?
Seeing that no one spoke, I cleared my throat and said, "Then I'll just give it to Qu Wubing?"
Still, no one responded. This felt a bit off. After thinking for a moment, I tossed the Yin Yang Ancient Coin toward Qu Wubing. Of course, I played a trick; as I threw it, I pretended to stumble, and the Yin Yang Ancient Coin flew toward Ji Wuyuan, who was next to Qu Wubing.
"Oops, my hand slipped!" I exclaimed.
