Zhong Kui's Diary
What is life?
Qingcheng sees life as a collection of various scenes; Guo'er views life as an accumulation of different emotions; Fatty considers life as a series of Health Treatment experiences... Although their perspectives differ, one thing is certain: life is a chaotic mix of various elements. The emotions you experience are a blend of sweetness, bitterness, sourness, and spiciness; the events you go through are often twisted and bizarre. Of course, there are also various insights from the heart and sensations from the body, all of which count as experiences of life. Many times, your experiences will resonate with others who have had similar feelings or encounters.
However, the sensations in my body right now are something no one has ever experienced.
The moment the golden sphere was struck by eight powerful forces and collided with my abdomen, a turbulent and violent current surged into my body. This current did not follow the meridians within me but crashed around wildly, like a rampaging wild horse running unchecked in the wilderness.
What left me even more bewildered was that this current faintly carried the sound of thunder. This situation felt familiar because the thunder clearly resembled effects from the Thunder Realm. Could it be that the Thunder God, originally inside the golden sphere, has entered my body? The words from Ice Stick echoed in my ears—could this be the Collective Will Method? Just now, eight Grandmaster-level Experts had simultaneously struck the Mysterious Realm Golden Sphere, right?
The biggest problem arose: after Ice Stick's eight masters hit the Mystical Realm, everything should have fallen into place. But from what I could see now, it seemed otherwise. The Thunder God was like a runaway stallion, tirelessly galloping within me.
Damn it, how do I communicate with him? I closed my eyes and tried to silently chant "Thunder God" in my mind, but the current inside me seemed completely oblivious and continued to rampage.
Just when I was at a loss for what to do, another current suddenly surged from my body's meridians. This current merged with my Devouring Soul Energy, surrounded by two other thin strands of energy—one warm and one cool—representing my Yin-Yang Energy, which shares its origin and essence with the Yin-Yang Ancient Coin and the Book of Life and Death.
As the Thunder God rampaged without restraint, the energy within me suddenly pounced forward like a fishing net, directly ensnaring this wild horse.
The Thunder God immediately became furious and began to struggle desperately, jumping up and down and charging left and right. Yet, the energy net tightly wrapped around him, refusing to loosen no matter how wildly he thrashed inside.
Moreover, this energy net gradually tightened. I could feel the force of the Thunder God's struggles becoming increasingly frantic. After a while, his strength began to wane. Finally, as the energy net tightened one last time, the violent current merged with the energy itself. I felt an unprecedented sense of Shu Chang, almost as if I were being reborn.
Without needing Ice Stick to tell me, I knew that I had now integrated the Thunder Realm into my body.
I opened my eyes to find eight people around me looking at me with strange expressions. I smiled and picked up the golden sphere from the ground. Focusing my senses on it, I discovered that it no longer emitted any aura. It seemed that the magical array from the Mystical Realm had indeed transferred into my body; this golden sphere was now just an ordinary golden sphere.
"What happened?" Ancient Gu Yi looked at me suspiciously. "Why do you seem a bit different?"
"A bit different? You really underestimate me! Let me put it this way: there were originally only twelve Grandmaster-level Experts. After Flower Attacker and others died, there were only nine left." I grinned widely and shouted hoarsely: "Now I declare that I, Zhong Zhengnan, am the tenth Grandmaster-level Expert!"
Everyone stared at me in astonishment for a moment before breaking into teasing smiles and stepping back.
"Is this kid going to be driven insane?" John's sarcasm was thick.
"Hearing that insanity can be contagious is quite scary," Jiang Ziyu feigned surprise.
"Is he a Grandmaster-level Expert? It seems like Grandmaster-level Experts are as common as cabbages on the street; you can buy a bunch for just a few bucks," John mocked even more.
"…"
I snorted and pointed at John, "Then who, don't you believe it?"
John was taken aback, pointing at his own nose, "Are you asking me?"
"That's right!"
"Hahahahaha!" John laughed as if he had heard the funniest joke in the world, doubling over with laughter. "You actually asked me if I believe it? Hahahaha, of course I don't believe it! If I did, I'd be an idiot."
"Fine, I'll prove it to you!" As soon as I said that, I froze. Wait, how am I supposed to prove it to him? I've never been a Grandmaster-level Expert; how do these Grandmaster-level Experts cast spells? And how do I activate this Thunder Realm?
Damn it, there's not even a manual. How am I supposed to become an expert?
"Prove it! You better show me! Do you want to shout 'transform' first? Or maybe you should greet Ji Wuyuan and ask him to open a portal for you to go back and buy a magic wand?" John laughed even louder.
With John's words, I felt a mix of embarrassment and frustration. I wanted to unleash two Thunder Element moves but had no idea how to execute them. I remembered the names of those ultimate moves—like Nine Divine Thunder, Five Thunder Strikes, Thunderous Strike—but knowing the names didn't help. Thunder God, where are you?
Just then, a familiar voice echoed in my mind: "Master, are you looking for me?"
"Damn it, Thunder God, where have you been? Enough chit-chat; hurry up and teach me how to unleash my ultimate move." I communicated with Thunder God telepathically.
"It's very simple. I'll copy all my consciousness over to you shortly, and then I'll say goodbye," Thunder God replied with a laugh.
"What do you mean?" I asked in confusion.
"I finally escaped from Restriction, and now all my abilities have transferred to you. Naturally, I need to distance myself from this formation," Thunder God said casually.
"Well, I see. So without your powers, where do you plan to go?"
"I've grown tired of the days with powers. I'll just find a child to possess and live a simple life," Thunder God chuckled. "For us, a mundane life as an ordinary person is what we dream of."
There was a moment of silence, unsure of what to say.
Seeing that I was speechless, Thunder God smiled and suddenly, without knowing how, a mark appeared in my mind, filled with various Thunder Element spells. Those spells felt as familiar as if I had grown up with them.
"Now these are your memories. Go prove it to him. I'll stay here for a while, and when no one is around, I'll leave on my own. At that time, I won't say goodbye again," Thunder God coughed lightly.
"Then I wish you find a good family," I said with a bitter smile, offering a blessing.
Thunder God remained silent, lost in thought.
"Hey!" John was still chattering away. "Zheng Nan, prove it!"
"Nine!! Divine! Thunder!" I shouted coldly, bringing my palms together and forming a spell. A dark cloud appeared in midair, rolling continuously, with faint dark red light flickering in the center.
With a loud crack of thunder, the sound echoed.
The cloud rolled more violently as I pointed the spell at John. Suddenly, the cloud parted, and a bolt of lightning shot out from it. With a crackle, the thick lightning struck directly at John.
"Damn!" John's expression changed as he raised his hands. A golden Light Screen instantly appeared above his head. The lightning hit the Light Screen with a series of crackling sounds, shattering it into pieces. The lightning then shrank from being as thick as an arm to the size of a chopstick and continued to shoot towards John.
John let out a grunt and clamped his hands together, catching the lightning. With hissing sounds, the lightning resembled a red-hot iron rod thrown into cold water, producing large amounts of white mist before disappearing completely.
"Nine!! Divine! Thunder!" I summoned again, sending another bolt of lightning as thick as an arm toward John.
"Damn, here it comes again!" John quickly conjured two more golden Light Screens. Compared to his frantic response the first time, he was much calmer this time. My lightning shattered his first Light Screen but vanished before reaching the second one.
"Wow, you really are at Grandmaster Level," John said in astonishment as he looked at me. The others around us also wore expressions of shock.
"Did you take some kind of Grandmaster crash course? How did you go from an Entry Level novice to a Grandmaster-level expert so quickly?" Jiang Ziyu exclaimed in surprise, causing the pearls on the Imperial Crown to sway: "Zheng Nan, did you graduate from Blue Sky Technical School? That's impressive!"
"Now I can't prove I'm a Grandmaster-level Expert?" I grinned.
"Well, you could say that," Ji Wuyuan chuckled.
"Just barely? Do you want to take a couple of moves with me and see?" I immediately felt unconvinced.
"No need to test that; either one of us is definitely stronger than you, no doubt about it. Right now, you're like a newly rich person who just won five million, while we are the second-generation wealthy with some depth that you can't compare to." Wuyuan frowned in thought for a moment, then nodded and smiled, "The Spell you just cast, Nine Divine Thunder, doesn't it integrate with the Thunder Realm in your hand? Hehe, give it another year and a half, and you'll truly grasp the Spell within the Mystical Realm. By that time, you'll be able to compete with us."
Huh, didn't the Thunder God copy everything for me? Why would it take another year and a half to fully comprehend? Wasn't the Thunder God being generous?
Just as I thought this, the voice of the Thunder God echoed in my mind: "Zheng Nan, don't judge a gentleman's heart by your own. I have certainly copied everything I know for you, but individual differences will lead to varying levels of comprehension. Ji Wuyuan is right; in another year and a half, you'll be able to fully master all Thunder Elemental Magic."
That was it; no matter how much I asked, the Thunder God remained silent.
Come on, I was just asking a couple of questions! No need to get angry.
"If you can integrate one more Mystical Realm, you'll be able to hold your own against us!" Ji Wuyuan pointed toward the three golden spheres that had fallen to the ground after being broken and looked at me with a smirk: "If you integrate two more, we won't be your match. If you can integrate three more, then you'll be able to take on all of us by yourself."
"Wow, that's amazing! Come on, while everyone is here, help me integrate three more!" I said excitedly.
Everyone looked at me as if I were crazy. Gugu sneered, "You want us to help you integrate them so you can come back and beat us?"
Well, under various coincidences, these eight experts had helped me reach Grandmaster Level. If they helped me again now, it would be foolish. I rubbed my nose and smiled while bargaining: "Isn't there still a gap between us? How about integrating one more? That way our strengths won't seem so disparate?"
Ji Wuyuan laughed: "Zheng Nan, we're only slightly stronger than you right now; there's not much difference. In other words, at our level, there's no need for life-and-death battles—except for those two idiots, Flower Attacker and Gao Youdi."
"So what do you mean?" I was uncertain about their attitude.
"What we mean is that this matter ends here; this Yin-Yang Ancient Coin is yours. Unless someone turns against you, no one will try to take it from you," Ghost Zombie said with a smile. "For example, I have two Yin-Yang Ancient Coins, Jiang Ziyu has one, Yun Zhihan has one, and Gugu also has one—no one will come to snatch them from you; rest assured."
"Uh, isn't that a bit unreasonable?" I stammered. "Isn't the Sun God's energy supposed to be incredibly powerful? After all, Yun Zhihan went so far as to harm Sha Zhiyuan's family for it."
Ji Wuyuan laughed: "To us, the Sun God is just an ethereal legend. We obtained this Yin-Yang Ancient Coin merely to prove our abilities. It's like how you collect ancient paintings; it's not so much about how much you like them but more about showing off your wealth."
"Is it worth harming Sha Zhiyuan's family just for this empty title?" I suddenly erupted in anger, pointing at Yun Zhihan and shouting sternly.
Ji Wuyuan smiled slightly again: "Zheng Nan, to put it bluntly, human lives are worthless in our eyes."
"What?" I glared at Ji Wuyuan: "So you regard human life as nothing?"
"This is all based on the foundation of great power. To put it another way, chickens, ducks, cattle, and sheep all have lives; what wrong have they committed? Why must you eat them?" Yun Zhihan sneered. "Just because you humans are stronger than chickens and ducks, you don't need to consider their feelings. What I am doing now is no different from what you humans do because I am stronger than you, so there is no need to consider your feelings."
Hearing Yun Zhihan, I found myself unable to refute. Can humans really be compared to chickens and ducks? I wanted to shout that out loud, but I knew that would only lead to an even more contemptuous rebuttal from Yun Zhihan: cattle and sheep have lives too; what's the difference?
Amidst the cold laughter, Yun Zhihan's figure gradually faded away until it disappeared into the air.
At the same time, Ji Wuyuan, Ghost Zombie, and others also began to leave. In the end, I was left alone on the vast grassland, standing there in solitude as the setting sun stretched my shadow long...
...
The end of "The Company."
