Zhong Kui's Diary
At this moment, the night in Star City is dazzling, with various neon lights shooting up into the sky. Even though the Sky Building stands 88 stories tall, one can vaguely see things without a flashlight from above.
"Wow, there are four round platforms?" Qingcheng smiled upon seeing the four Cooling Towers.
"What? What round platforms?" I asked, somewhat surprised.
"This one here. What do you call these four round things?" Qingcheng pointed at the four Cooling Towers and asked.
"We just call them Cooling Towers," I replied with a smile.
"In my grandmother's house, we call this a round platform," Qingcheng chuckled lightly.
"Isn't your Xiao Family from Beijing? Do people in Beijing really use that term?"
"My grandmother doesn't live in Beijing," Qingcheng rolled her eyes at me.
As we spoke, I led Qingcheng to the spot where Fatty went missing. Qingcheng closed her eyes and sensed for a while before opening them and shaking her head. "There’s no residual aura of any formation."
Hearing this made me feel a bit deflated. If things were truly as Qingcheng said and this was not related to any spell, then what could have happened?
If it wasn't a spell, how could we explain the disappearance of Kong Xuan and Fatty?
Standing at the spot where Fatty vanished, I stroked my chin in deep thought while Qingcheng walked around observing the situation.
After thinking for a while without coming up with any answers, I shook my head, set aside those chaotic thoughts, and looked towards the Spearhead. If I couldn't figure it out now, I might as well see what mysteries this Spearhead holds.
The entire Spearhead took on a spindle shape, with the thickest part having a diameter of about ten meters and a height exceeding fifty meters. The bottom of the Spearhead was three meters above the rooftop, and yes, the Spearhead was suspended, supported by a steel frame made up of several steel bars as thick as arms. Therefore, if I wanted to investigate the secrets of the Spearhead, I would have to climb up.
Just as I was preparing to ascend, Qingcheng suddenly exclaimed in surprise and confusion. I quickly looked over and asked, "Qingcheng, what did you find?"
At that moment, Qingcheng was at the spot where Kong Xuan had disappeared, more than three meters away from me. Due to the lighting, I couldn't see her expression clearly, but I heard her voice: "Due south, I know how this happened!"
My scalp tingled, and without a second thought, I leaped towards Qingcheng.
Just like earlier when Fatty was with Kong Xuan, Qingcheng slowly turned her head to look at me. Seeing me flying towards her, she seemed to understand something and opened her mouth to shout. Just then, Qingcheng's body flickered like a slide show, flashing in and out. At the moment my hand was about to grasp Qingcheng, she bizarrely vanished before my eyes, leaving only the last word she had shouted lingering in the air.
"Cloud—"
"Qingcheng!" I shouted hoarsely and rushed to where she had been standing, desperately trying to grab at nothing. However, all my efforts were in vain; no matter how much I reached out, there was nothing but emptiness before me. It felt as if I were the only one here.
"Come out! Damn it, Fortune God, get out here!" I yelled in desperation.
After calling out several times with no response, my anger flared up. I took a running leap and climbed onto the steel frame, standing at the bottom of the Spearhead. From my Mustard Seed Pendant, I pulled out a Hammer and struck at the outer shell of the Spearhead.
Since this was on the 88th floor rooftop, the Spearhead couldn't possibly be solid. Considering wind resistance due to its height, the materials used for the Spearhead were actually several sheets of iron welded together with steel pipes supporting the outer iron skin.
With a loud clang, my hammer struck down hard, causing a significant dent in the Spearhead's outer shell.
Another strike... two strikes... on the third strike, I managed to create a large gap in the outer shell of the Spearhead.
Grabbing hold of the torn iron skin, I yanked it forcefully. A large piece came off immediately, revealing a dark Big Hole inside. At that moment, due to my frantic state of mind, my palm was cut by the sharp edge of the iron skin and blood gushed out in pain. Ignoring it for now, I took out my flashlight and shone it into the interior of the Spearhead.
As I hammered away at the Spearhead, I wondered what kind of situation awaited me inside; I even imagined seeing Fatty and the others hanging upside down within.
I didn't expect that when the flashlight shone in, there was nothing inside except for the haphazard steel frames. This left me even more bewildered. The intense pain in my palm gradually calmed me down. I took out a medical kit from the Mustard Seed Pendant and bandaged my wound. After a moment of contemplation, I crawled through the gap and began searching upward along the steel frames.
Inside, it was just steel frames. I climbed all the way to the top of the Spearhead without discovering anything unusual. Cursing under my breath, I slowly crawled back down, this time even more cautiously, examining every piece of metal and every steel pipe closely.
Still, I found nothing; there was nothing inside the Spearhead.
I crawled out through the gap and dropped down, landing on my backside on the ground. My mind felt like a tangled mess, but when I focused on untangling it, I found nothing but emptiness—no clues at all.
After cursing a few times, I pulled out a cigarette and lit it.
Fatty was missing here, Kong Xuan was missing here, and now Qingcheng was missing too. What secrets lay hidden here? Who had abducted the three of them, and why was I completely unscathed?
Just before the incident, Qingcheng seemed to know what was going on. What exactly did she know?
Suddenly, a word flashed in my mind—the last word Qingcheng had said—"cloud."
At that moment, she must have realized her situation was dire. Despite that, she wanted to warn me. Thinking of this made my heart ache. I took a deep drag from my cigarette and continued to ponder—what did "cloud" mean?
Cloud Cover? Previously, Kong Xuan had mentioned a Spell that could show an unreal situation.
Or perhaps she meant something like light clouds or clearing clouds?
I filtered through all the words related to "cloud" that I could think of but felt none of them fit well.
Could it be that Qingcheng was referring to a place? Was she trying to tell me about a location in Star City?
In Star City, there were only two places that started with "cloud": Yunnan Road and Yunmen Village. Yunnan Road is a street, while Yunmen Village is an urban village. If that's the case, then the scope is too broad.
Wait a minute, could Qingcheng be someone with the surname Yun? A thought suddenly popped into my mind, and a name flashed before me: Yun Zhihan, one of the Top Masters in the world, the Ice Sovereign—Yun Zhihan.
Thinking of this, my brain started racing. Yun Zhihan, a Grandmaster-level Expert, could easily abduct someone without anyone noticing. Whether it was Kong Xuan or Qingcheng, they were merely Master-Level experts; in front of a Grandmaster-level Expert, they would have no chance to resist.
As for why Yun Zhihan would do this, I suspected it had to do with the Yin-Yang Ancient Coin. People like Ji Wuyuan and Yazhi weren't particularly interested in controlling the power of the Sun God; they just wanted to keep themselves busy and seek some form of solace.
However, Yun Zhihan, Gugu, and that Qu Wubing seemed very interested in the Yin-Yang Ancient Coin. I dared to say that if it weren't for the presence of people like Ji Wuyuan, Yun Zhihan would likely attempt to seize it. I didn't know why I had this thought; it was purely a feeling.
Now that Yun Zhihan had set this trap, he was just waiting for me to make a request. He would definitely propose a condition to exchange for the Yin-Yang Ancient Coin. Damn, whatever about the Fortune God or the Cursed God, it was all just a ruse set by Yun Zhihan.
With that in mind, I took out my phone and called Yun Zhihan.
The phone rang seven or eight times before Yun Zhihan answered lazily, saying, “Zheng Nan, what’s up? I’m playing a game with Zhu Qi. Do you want to say a few words to her?”
Then I heard a woman's giggle from the other end, followed by a flirtatious tone that sounded like Zhu Qi.
I suppressed my anger and said calmly, “Yun Zhihan, don’t you want the Yin-Yang Ancient Coin in my possession?”
“Of course!” Yun Zhihan chuckled. I couldn't tell what was happening on his side, but then I heard loud gasping sounds from Zhu Qi.
“I can give you the Yin-Yang Ancient Coin.” At this point, I paused.
There was a brief silence on Yun Zhihan's end, followed by some rustling sounds. Then I heard Zhu Qi complain, “Hey, if you just walk away like this, what am I supposed to do?”
With a bang, I heard a door slam shut. After a moment, Yun Zhihan's voice came through again: “Alright, now what do you need me to exchange for it?”
Hearing this from Yun Zhihan, I felt somewhat uncertain. For a Grandmaster Level expert, making exchanges was quite common. For example, last time, Jiang Ziyu exchanged a page from the Book of Life and Death for a Yin-Yang Ancient Coin. If Yun Zhihan was indeed the mastermind behind all this, he wouldn't need to ask; he could simply take what he wanted.
I cleared my throat and said, "Actually, the Yin Yang Ancient Coin is not important to me; I care more about the safety of my friends."
Yun Zhihan responded with a puzzled tone, "What do you mean? Do you want me to be a bodyguard for your friends?"
I was even more confused, so I decided to be straightforward: "Three of my friends are currently missing. Wasn't this your doing?"
Yun Zhihan paused for a moment before laughing, "Zheng Nan, do you think I kidnapped your friends?"
"Of course! Otherwise, why would I be calling you?" I replied, somewhat irritated.
"While I do want your ancient coins, I'm not desperate enough to resort to such tactics. Besides, we're both Grandmaster-level Experts. If I were to cast a Spell next to you, you would sense it," Yun Zhihan laughed heartily. Just then, there was a sound of a door opening, as if Zhu Qi had come out.
"Then what did Xiao Qingcheng mean by saying 'cloud' before the incident? Was she referring to you?" I could only argue this way.
"Hahaha," Yun Zhihan laughed again. "You think one word 'cloud' means anything? Zheng Nan, your imagination is quite rich."
