Zhong Kui's Diary
"That's right, Demon! There were only two Demon on that planet! However, those two Demon were much stronger than the Demon you see now. The technology of the First Generation Humans was quite impressive, wasn't it? Even with such technology, they were no match for those two Demon. A conflict arose over the planet, and those two Demon stormed into the spaceship, killing all the humans on board. Then they took control of the ship and returned to Earth, unleashing their Supreme Power, completely erasing all traces of humanity from the planet." Fortune God sighed deeply, his voice filled with anger and regret.
I couldn't believe it! Erasing humanity from Earth? I stared at Fortune God, completely shocked by what he had said.
A faint bitterness appeared at the corner of Fortune God's mouth: "Of course, human technology was not insignificant either. Although those two Demon wiped out humanity, the humans' desperate counterattack severely injured them. Thus, for a long time afterward, the Demon began to slumber on Earth..."
"What about the humans on Earth? Did they just allow the Demon to sleep?" I asked hoarsely.
"I just told you, the Demon completely erased humanity from Earth," Fortune God replied with a bitter smile.
"You must be joking! According to what you're saying, where do we come from?" I retorted angrily.
"Are you even listening to me? Initially, humanity sent out two spaceships; one encountered the Demon..." At this point, Fortune God glanced at me with a half-smile.
"You? What about the other spaceship?" I stared intently at Fortune God.
"That's right. The other spaceship learned about the tragedy on Earth through communication devices and realized they could not resist the Demon. They made a quick decision to flee and focus on developing their technology. After tens of thousands of years of development, their technology reached an unprecedented height, and then they returned for revenge." Fortune God looked at me with a hint of pity in his eyes.
What kind of expression is that? I felt a sudden chill and already had an inkling of the outcome. Sure enough, Fortune God continued: "Unfortunately, they missed the best timing. If they had returned immediately when the Demon was injured, they could have definitely defeated them. But alas, they missed their chance. Although they gave themselves tens of thousands of years to develop, the Demon also recuperated for tens of thousands of years. By the time they emerged for revenge, the Demon was nearly fully recovered as well. In that battle, both sides suffered heavy losses again; the Demon fell back into slumber while humanity faced total annihilation once more."
After a moment of silence, I said hoarsely: "Surely there were other bases for the humans on that spaceship?"
Fortune God shook his head: "No, that spaceship was the last base of the First Generation Humans. Do you think it's easy to find a habitable planet in this vast universe? The composition of air and various minerals in water—any slight deviation in these essentials could lead humanity to disaster. Well, that's meaningless anyway; in short, after this battle, humanity was completely wiped out!"
"It’s impossible, how could this be? Then how did we come here?" I asked the question again in a stern voice.
"The First Generation Humans came with a do-or-die mentality to seek revenge, but they also had a plan. When the spaceship arrived on Earth, to counter the large-scale killing spell cast by the Demon specifically targeting humans, and to ensure the continuation of human civilization, they spread a large number of single-celled organisms containing Super Genes as soon as they landed on Earth..."
"Single-celled? What does that mean? Why not just create a few humans directly?" I asked in confusion.
"You must understand that when the Demon’s spell is cast, all life will be cleansed by them. Only these single-celled organisms, which are close to inorganic matter, can avoid being affected by the spell," Fortune God shook his head with a wry smile.
I cursed under my breath and stopped dwelling on the issue.
Fortune God cleared his throat and continued, "These single-celled organisms can evolve along the path of human evolution again, but it greatly shortens the time required for evolution. For example, it might take ten million years for marine life to evolve into amphibians, but with Super Genes, it might only take tens of thousands of years for marine life to come ashore. Previously, it might have taken sixty-five million years for early humans to learn how to create fire and make pottery; with Super Genes, it could take just a few thousand years to reach that level. So, originally it took two billion years for humans to appear; the second evolution only requires one billion years."
"And then, the Second Generation Humans appeared?" I asked uncertainly.
"That's right. The Second Generation Humans are a transitional generation. Because their bodies contain Super Genes, mutations occasionally occur in humans," Fortune God explained.
"What does mutation mean?" I asked.
Fortune God pondered for a moment as if organizing his thoughts: "Let’s put it this way: every few years, an exceptional individual will emerge among humans whose thoughts and ideas far exceed those of their contemporaries. They can even lead scientific breakthroughs; such individuals are considered genetic mutations."
"For example, Einstein and Edison?" I paused for a moment and mentioned two scientists with 'Ai' in their names.
"Something like that! Anyway, those who are called geniuses can be included in this category," Fortune God smiled slightly. "However, among the Fifth Generation Humans, there are no Einsteins within the Second Generation Humans."
"So how do the Second Generation Humans face the Demon?"
"First Generation Humans" likely did not know how far they could contend with the "Demon." Therefore, in their plans, the technology of the "Second Generation Humans" had to surpass that of the "First Generation." As a result, they left the matter of the "Demon" for last. Only when human technology reached a certain level would those genes mutate, and suddenly they would understand the "Demon" situation; this is what enlightenment is all about. At this point, the "Fortune God" sighed and shook his head: "Because of this, when the 'Demon' awakened, the 'Second Generation Humans' were almost at a loss. Fortunately, the 'Demon' did not fully recover. After a great battle, humanity was once again annihilated, and the 'Demon' fell back into slumber."
"Damn, we humans were wiped out again?" I exclaimed angrily.
"That is indeed the case," replied the "Fortune God" calmly.
"What happened next?" I cursed a few times before asking.
"The 'Third Generation Humans' can actually be considered an extension of the 'First Generation Humans,' but this time, those 'Super Genes' mutated much earlier. This time, humanity evolved from single-celled organisms to a civilized era in just five hundred million years. Their technological civilization surpassed that of the 'First Generation Humans,' and they were also aware of the 'Demon,' preparing for war against it while leaving several escape routes just in case." The "Fortune God" shook his head: "Unfortunately, when the 'Demon' awakened this time, its abilities had also improved. In another battle, humanity was once again slaughtered cleanly, and the 'Demon' fell back into slumber."
"Damn it, why is it that humanity gets wiped out while they just have to take a nap?" I fumed.
The "Fortune God" did not answer my question and continued: "Another five hundred million years later, about sixty-five million years ago, the 'Fourth Generation Humans' rose strongly. This time they focused on developing weapon technology and even created various large helpers, such as dinosaurs..."
"Dinosaur?" I couldn't help but exclaim.
"That's right. Since humans have poor resistance to attacks, raising some large and powerful animals is also a viable strategy," nodded the "Fortune God." "The technology of the 'Fourth Generation Humans' reached a peak era of technological advancement, especially in weaponry, which had reached an astonishing level. For example, this batch of robots we have was developed to combat the 'Demon'; we are all combat-type robots."
"And then?"
"This battle was no different from before; humanity was still slaughtered cleanly. However, this time one of the two 'Demons,' known as the 'Bearded Deity,' was killed on the spot, while the other one, called the 'Scarred Demon,' was severely injured and even lost its memory..."
"'Bearded Deity'? 'Scarred Demon'?" I quickly interrupted the "Fortune God." "Why do those names sound so awkward?"
"I don't know what they're actually called; I just made them up. As long as you understand," he replied.
"Wait, what do you mean they lost their memory?"
"He doesn't remember the grudges with humans," Fortune God said with a half-smile, looking at me.
"Uh!" Hearing this from Fortune God, I scratched my head. "So, does that mean there won't be any issues in the future?"
"How could that be?" Fortune God gave me a disdainful glance. "Although Cao Da Ma Zi doesn't remember the grudges, his subconscious still thinks about slaughtering humans. He knows it's difficult for him to survive, so he directly divided the remaining energy in his body into four consciousnesses. You should be familiar with three of them: Judgment of Life and Death, Sun God, and Moon Demon. After the division, that Prehistoric Demon exploded and perished."
Upon hearing this, I cursed, "No wonder Sun God and Moon Demon are always thinking about slaughtering humans. Damn it, so that's how it is."
Fortune God said seriously, "That's not all; the problem is that these consciousnesses are all energy decomposed by Scarred Demon before his death."
"What does that mean?" I asked, confused. "Cao Da Ma Zi is already severely injured; could it be that the energy he decomposed is stronger than his original form?"
"Not exactly. This kind of separated energy is like going into battle lightly equipped... Wait, let me give you an example. Imagine a factory where all the Print Shops have stopped production and are relying on dozens of storefronts to collect rent to support everyone. Now there's a reform, and those storefronts are independently established as a company while the other Print Shops are left to die." Fortune God chuckled. "Now you should understand what I mean?"
I nodded. "Understood. So it means these four consciousnesses have become independent and no longer need to remain dormant. By the way, your Judgment of Life and Death, Sun God, and Moon Demon only have three consciousnesses; who is the remaining one?"
