Zhong Kui's Diary
Ji Wuyuan smiled when he saw that I was silent and walked over to Rong Ge, extending his hand. "May I ask your name?"
Rong Ge cautiously shook hands with Ji Wuyuan. "Just call me A-Rong."
Ji Wuyuan chuckled, "Prosperity and glory, flourishing and thriving, eight honors and eight shames—what a good name!" He then withdrew his hand, as if it was just a casual courtesy.
"Ghost Brother, what's going on?" Rong Ge asked me in confusion, not understanding Ji Wuyuan's intentions.
"It's nothing, nothing at all. You can leave now," Ji Wuyuan waved his hand casually, answering on my behalf.
Rong Ge looked even more surprised, eyeing Ji Wuyuan with suspicion before finally turning to me, his gaze full of inquiry.
"Yes, it's fine now. You can go ahead and say hello to Sister An for me," I said with a smile, already understanding that Ji Wuyuan had confirmed that this Rong Ge had no connection to Gugu during their handshake.
Rong Ge scratched his head, not thinking much of it, and bid farewell with a cupped fist.
After Rong Ge walked away, I shared the incident of Gugu transforming into Rong Ge with them. The three of them frowned in silence for a while before Jiang Ziyu finally spoke up. "What does this Gugu mean? If she wanted to tell you something, why did she leave in such a hurry without leaving any contact information?"
"Among those present at the time, besides Zheng Nan, there was already deceased Xie Mengfei, and another one named... what was it? Li Tan, right? The deceased ones are irrelevant; could this Li Tan have some significance?" John analyzed.
"Li Zan, perhaps... As for whether Li Zan has any significance, you can just go check for yourselves." I gestured towards a nearby building. "It's that building over there, Room 60 on the 6th floor."
Ji Wuyuan furrowed his brow, glanced around, and then mysteriously vanished from sight.
After a while, Ji Wuyuan reappeared, frowning and shaking his head as soon as he came out. "This Li Zan shows no abnormalities, but that pendant hanging on his chest is quite something."
Pendant? I suddenly remembered that when I first saw Li Zan, he was wearing a shirt with a red gemstone pendant visible at the collar. I thought it looked quite valuable at the time.
"Uh, Brother Chicken, it's just a ruby. No matter how valuable it is, it's still just that. For you, things that can be bought with money aren't considered valuable, right?" I was a bit puzzled.
"You know nothing!" Ji Wuyuan looked at me disdainfully. "This ruby contains a magic circle, similar to your Mysterious Realm Golden Spheres. If a Demon or cultivator casts a spell within three meters of it, the magic circle will activate and directly imprison the caster inside. If the caster doesn't escape within an hour, the magic circle will kill them. To add, this magic circle is Master-Level; any Demon or Cultivator below Master-Level caught by it is very likely to be killed."
"So what? Gugu is a Grandmaster..." I started to say but stopped short. Gugu had lost her powers, so it made sense for her to be wary of this Ruby Pendant.
This could explain why Gugu hurriedly left back then, but why hasn't she come to find me again?
"It's possible that the killer who took down the Ghost Zombie has started paying attention to Gugu. Since she has lost her powers and has no other options, she can only hide in Tibet. Besides Zheng Nan, she doesn't even dare to contact other Grandmasters," John frowned and said.
"Exactly, it's possible that the killer is one of us. Gugu can't be sure who it is, so she doesn't dare to approach us!" Jiang Ziyu's expression was somewhat unusual.
Upon hearing Jiang Ziyu's words, Ji Wuyuan immediately cursed loudly: "Damn it! If you think like this, can we still have fun together in the future? Besides, the Ghost Zombie is so powerful; who could take him down in one go?"
"What if two people teamed up? Like Yun Zhihan and Qu Wubing!" Jiang Ziyu retorted defiantly.
"Damn it! Why not? Why don't you suspect me and John as the killers?" Ji Wuyuan exploded in anger. "If you think like this, everyone will be suspicious of each other. Besides yourself, everyone else looks like a killer, especially you few who have the Yin-Yang Ancient Coin; you'll be even more anxious."
"I'm not accusing you guys; I'm talking about Yun Zhihan and Qu Wubing." Jiang Ziyu seemed to realize he had misspoken and became flustered.
"Damn it! No one is right." Ji Wuyuan angrily cursed again. "If everyone is suspicious of each other at this time, we can't unite and will only fight individually. In that case, the killer will find it even easier to strike!"
Everyone fell silent for a moment, and then Jiang Ziyu suddenly called out to me, "Zheng Nan."
"What is it?" I replied with a smile.
Jiang Ziyu chuckled awkwardly, "Although what I said earlier might have affected everyone's relationship, this possibility does exist. I think you are the least suspicious here."
I was somewhat taken aback. "Thank you for your trust."
"Well, you have the lowest ability, and you don't have any Grandmaster Level companions, so you aren't suspicious. As for the old man Xiao Jue, he is heavily injured and can't protect himself, so it's impossible for him to have killed the Ghost Zombie. Besides," Jiang Ziyu continued with a smile, "you have no interest in the Yin-Yang Ancient Coin at all. The two Yin-Yang Ancient Coins from the Ghostly Zombie Old Man and the one on me were given to us by you. Just from this point alone, you have no motive."
"Damn, are you praising me or insulting me?" I snorted and said nothing.
"So, I've decided to return the Yin-Yang Ancient Coin to you!" Jiang Ziyu pulled out a box from his belongings and opened it, revealing the Yin-Yang Ancient Coin floating in mid-air.
"Hey, are you trying to get me killed?" I glared at Jiang Ziyu. "If the murderer knows I have two Yin-Yang Ancient Coins, they'll definitely come after me first."
There was something I didn't say: I actually already had two Yin-Yang Ancient Coins, and with this one, that would make three.
"I'm not going to tell anyone," Jiang Ziyu said as he reached up to his head, seemingly wanting to adjust his crown. His hand stopped mid-air as he realized he wasn't wearing it today. He chuckled awkwardly and said, "Only by giving you the Yin-Yang Ancient Coin can we three brothers continue to enjoy our time together."
Ji Wuyuan and John both nodded with smiles after hearing Jiang Ziyu's words. Ji Wuyuan even laughed and said, "This is indeed a solution, but it puts some trouble on Zheng Nan."
I didn't have any aversion to the Yin-Yang Ancient Coin. After learning about its uses from Sha Zhiyuan, I secretly vowed never to let the Demon gather all seven Yin-Yang Ancient Coins. Now that they wanted to return the Yin-Yang Ancient Coin to me, I certainly wouldn't refuse. However, who doesn't like to put on an act? Let's see if I can gain some benefits.
So I pretended to be reluctant and said, "Do whatever you want; just don't give it to me. I don't even know who to give my Yin-Yang Ancient Coin to!"
John laughed, "Anyway, you have to give it to someone else, so you might as well give Jiang Ziyu to them too."
I just shook my head.
"How about this, consider it a favor I owe you. It's settled!" Jiang Ziyu exchanged glances with Ji Wuyuan and John, and in an instant, the three of them quickly vanished from the spot.
"Ah!" A sudden scream came from a distance. Looking over, I saw a girl around fifteen or sixteen years old covering her mouth in shock as she stared at me. Even from that far away, I could see the fear in her eyes.
These three fools are playing invisible in broad daylight; this is going to be a problem. How am I supposed to explain this to the girl?
I casually collected the floating Yin-Yang Ancient Coin and cleared my throat, pretending nothing was wrong as I walked toward the garden exit.
"Hey, mister! Mister!" The girl screamed as she chased after me. "Weren't there three people next to you just now?"
"Crazy!" I frowned and glanced at her. I'm not even fully grown yet; how do I look like an old man to you? Frustrated, I snapped back, "Are you feeling dizzy? Seeing double? There's a pharmacy if you turn right when you go out. They have Tai Chi Huoxiang Zhengqi... liquid. Want to give it a try?"
There couldn't possibly be any surveillance cameras in the garden, so whatever she tells others, there's no evidence.
Seeing me turn to leave, the girl shouted angrily, "You better stop right there, or I'll have someone take care of you."
I chuckled at her words and was about to ask how she planned to do that when my phone rang. I picked it up and saw that Lingfeng was calling, telling me to hurry to the police station because Li Jin had confessed.
I didn't have time to deal with this girl anymore and turned to leave. Behind me, I heard her scream, "I'll remember you! You old creep! I swear I won't let you off!"
Damn, calling me an old creep? If it weren't for your age being so young, I'd slap you silly!
I called a car and rushed to the police station. When I found Lingfeng, Kong Xuan had just arrived as well. Lingfeng didn't explain anything and led us to his SUV, starting the engine and driving out.
"Where are you taking us? Didn't Li Jin confess?" I asked, feeling puzzled.
"Exactly because Li Jin confessed, we're going to catch someone now," Lingfeng replied with a smile.
"Why do you need us for this? What are you police officers doing?" I was even more confused.
"The person Li Jin confessed about is someone we can't handle," Lingfeng skillfully turned the steering wheel as the SUV merged into the traffic outside.
"What do you mean?" Kong Xuan seemed equally baffled.
"Li Jin met someone a few days ago. That person treated him to dinner and drinks. Li Jin felt embarrassed and asked if he could help with anything. The guy is a rich second generation, bored with life, and wanted him to work as a security guard under him. Most importantly, this person has an interest in a girl from their area and wants to test if she is materialistic," Lingfeng said, focusing on the road as he spoke confidently.
"This idiot must have been watching too many dramas," I exchanged a glance with Kong Xuan, and we almost said it in unison.
