Zhong Kui's Diary
"How did you find it so quickly?" I ran towards Kong Xuan, who was standing against the wall on one side of the tunnel.
"With your IQ, it's hard to explain!" Kong Xuan grinned at me, making faces while pointing at the wall.
Suddenly, I remembered that he was a genuine Spell master, unlike my half-baked Grandmaster skills. Earlier, in the room where Ray Yu was held, he had demonstrated a quick method to locate hidden cameras using his Spell.
"Where's the switch?" I knocked on the wall a few times, but it didn't produce an empty sound. It seemed that the entrance to this secret passage wasn't just a thin layer. If we couldn't find the switch, even if Lu Yao and Mali fired their Submachine Guns at the wall, they probably wouldn't be able to blast through it—unless they had a Rocket Launcher...
"Who knows? I'm looking for it too!" Kong Xuan frowned as he felt along the wall.
Hearing Kong Xuan, Lu Yao and Mali also began searching nearby.
After a while, it was Kong Xuan who finally found the entrance switch. He pulled out a large square tile from the wall, revealing a keypad with nine buttons numbered 1-9 arranged in three rows and three columns. Above the buttons was a Liquid Crystal Display showing "____" with four underscores.
Clearly, this was a password switch, and it required a four-digit code to activate the passage.
"Damn! Who knows what the password is?" Kong Xuan cursed loudly.
It's just four digits; how hard could that be?
Since human fingers secrete oils, these four frequently pressed buttons would retain fingerprints. As long as I found some powdery substance to sprinkle on the keypad and then blew gently on it, the four pressed keys would reveal themselves.
I had used this trick before in the secret room of Golden Blade Advertising Company. Moreover, I had some leftover powder in my Mustard Seed Pendant from last time.
Feigning a search on my body, I took out a small box and sprinkled the powder on the keypad. After gently blowing on it, four keys with fingerprints emerged.
1... 4!
With these four digits arranged, there were only four possible combinations. This was simple enough; I took out my phone and began writing down various combinations in my notes to keep track of which ones I had tried and which ones I hadn't.
"14, 4, 4, 44..."
"Press 14!" Kong Xuan shouted from the side.
"Are you stupid? Do you think Mr. Qian would use such a dumb password?" I scoffed.
However, Kong Xuan disregarded my words and pressed 14 on the keypad. Just as I was about to mock him, a series of clanking sounds came from the wall.
Damn it, the password really was 14.
Looking at the suddenly revealed U-shaped secret passage that was two meters wide and three meters high, all four of us gasped in surprise. There really was such a large secret passage on the side wall of this tunnel.
The passage was made of large Azure Bricks, and a Light Bulb hung on the right wall, emitting a faint light. The Power Cord extended along with the bulb, and we had no idea how deep this secret passage was.
The four of us exchanged glances. I cleared my throat and took the lead into the passage, my hand ready with the Nine Divine Thunder Spell. Hearing Road Distance and Horse Power behind me gasp lightly, I turned around to see Kong Xuan forming a bright red sphere of light in his palm, startling both Road Distance and Horse Power.
After walking more than two hundred meters, the passage turned left. We walked another fifty meters before it turned right again. After about sixty more meters, a square space the size of a classroom appeared before us. On the front wall hung a sign with three large characters: Treasure Vault, elegantly inscribed with iron hooks and silver strokes. Aside from that, there were only four large metal boxes placed against the wall.
Treasure Vault?
Could it be that we found Mr. Qian's place for storing gold?
Could these few large boxes really hold five tons of gold?
Putting aside my doubts, Kong Xuan frowned and said, "Gold is very heavy; one ton of gold is about the size of a computer case. These four metal boxes can hold at most one ton of gold each. Even if we fill all four boxes, that's only four tons of gold. Where did the remaining ton go?"
"Could it be that Mr. Qian split his stash into two parts? He hid one-third and sent the remaining two-thirds elsewhere by vehicle?" I frowned.
Mali cleared her throat beside us and said, "Mr. Zhong, Mr. Kong, why don't you open the boxes and take a look?"
Yeah, I haven't opened the box yet, and I'm just here shaking my head and pretending to be Detective Conan. What if there's a brick inside or something?
If there really is a brick inside, should we kill Mali to silence him?
To cover up my embarrassment, I pretended to cough and stepped forward to grab one of the boxes. With a strong lift, just as the lid popped open, my scalp suddenly tingled, and I stood frozen as if I had been hit by a Paralysis Charm.
Inside the box, there was no gold or brick; instead, there was a huge Timed Bomb. The moment I opened the lid, this Timed Bomb started operating, and the time displayed on the Liquid Crystal Display jumped from 00:00:0 to 00:00:0.
Damn!
This Mr. Qian actually put a Timed Bomb inside the box. As soon as I opened it, the Timed Bomb would activate, and he had set the timer for only three seconds. It seemed Mr. Qian had already planned that within these three seconds, no matter how we ran, we wouldn't be able to escape the blast radius.
Damn, am I really going to die here today?
“Mustard Seed Pendant!” I heard Kong Xuan's exceptionally shrill shout.
I instantly realized that we could throw this bomb into the Mustard Seed Pendant, and we would be safe. Just as 00:00:0 turned into 00:00:01, I lowered my head and brought the Mustard Seed Pendant close to the metal box. With a strong effort, I threw the metal box into the Mustard Seed Pendant.
The Mustard Seed Pendant trembled slightly; I focused and felt relieved that there was enough space inside, and the bomb didn't destroy my other belongings.
“Damn, that was close!” I wiped away a cold sweat.
“Zhong... Mr. Zhong.” Lu Yao pointed at the Mustard Seed Pendant around my neck and stammered, “Where did that bomb... go?”
“Some things are hard to explain to you; just consider it an illusion from earlier,” I shook my head and forced a smile.
Kong Xuan was also sweating profusely and cursed, “Damn, this Mr. Qian is truly a beast.”
After cursing for a while, Kong Xuan pointed at the remaining three metal boxes: “No need; there are bombs in those too. Zheng Nan, you should put them all away first. Standing next to several boxes of bombs feels unsafe.”
"You have a Spatial Bag too, don't you?" I said disdainfully.
"My space isn't as big as yours!" Kong Xuan rolled his eyes.
Lu Yao and Mali were left dumbfounded, and I was convinced that their worldview had been completely overturned.
After tossing the remaining three boxes into my Mustard Seed Pendant, I finally let out a sigh of relief. Kong Xuan was right; these three boxes definitely contained bombs. If they were filled with gold, what a joke! Could I even carry three tons of gold?
Seeing me throw the boxes into the Mustard Seed Pendant, Kong Xuan frowned and said, "There's something very strange."
"What is it?" I clapped my hands to shake off the dust.
"Why did this Mr. Qian set a three-second timer?" Kong Xuan rubbed his temples, as if this question had given him a headache.
"What kind of question is that?" I rolled my eyes. "Do you mean he should just make it explode the moment we open the box? Would that make you happy?"
"That's not what I mean. If this Mr. Qian wanted to kill us, he could have just set it to explode when we opened the box. Why did he need to set a three-second delay?" Kong Xuan seemed determined to get to the bottom of it.
"It’s possible he’s a psychopath. Setting a three-second timer means he wants us to feel fear and panic before we die. Even in death, he won’t let us go peacefully," I analyzed.
"Uh, can I interject for a moment?" Lu Yao suddenly spoke up.
"What do you want?" Both Kong Xuan and I looked at him.
"Although I only glanced quickly, I'm very familiar with this bomb. It was developed by a certain special organization as their latest bomb," Lu Yao nodded confidently.
"The latest bomb?" I was somewhat skeptical. "Isn't it just a bomb with an LCD screen timer attached? What kind of technology is that?"
"This type of bomb can be invisible," Lu Yao said slowly.
"Invisible?" I looked at Lu Yao with suspicion, hoping he could give me an explanation.
"That's right, invisible," Lu Yao nodded. "However, this kind of invisibility isn't true invisibility; it just won't be detected. Uh, I don't know how to describe it, but even if you carry it through security checks, it won't trigger any alarms." Lu Yao scratched his head.
"What do you mean?" I asked in surprise.
"It can instantly turn into a fake bomb and then instantly turn back into a real bomb," Lu Yao pondered for a moment and added, "By activating a certain switch, it becomes like a child's toy; no matter how you check it, it's just some plastic thing. Then by activating another switch, it turns back into a real bomb!"
"Damn!" I couldn't help but exclaim. This bomb was too impressive; no wonder Mr. Qian could carry a bomb around without fear of being detected. I initially thought he had special channels for this, but it turned out to be like this.
At the same time, I felt a chill in my heart. With such a bomb, what sense of security is left in this world? Who knows when an explosion might occur nearby, and then you'd see your hands and feet flying around...
Life like this is unbearable.
"This kind of bomb must be controlled by a timer because the key parts need time to switch. Therefore, the timer's minimum setting cannot be less than three seconds," Lu Yao continued. "It's not that Mr. Qian is being mysterious; it's just that the minimum setting for this bomb to explode can only be three seconds."
"How do you know this so clearly?" Kong Xuan suddenly stared intently at Lu Yao and asked in a deep voice.
Upon hearing Kong Xuan's question, a hint of panic flashed in Lu Yao's eyes.
