Zhong Kui's Diary
My scalp suddenly tingled. Damn, at this depth of nearly five thousand meters, there was actually such a large shadow passing by. Either I was seeing things, or there was a giant monster lurking around.
While silently reciting a spell, I lifted the spotlight and shone it in the direction of the shadow I had just seen.
However, in the place where the shadow had flashed by, there was nothing but boundless darkness.
Could it be that I was just imagining things?
As my body continued to sink, the spotlight in my hand swung around aimlessly.
There was nothing in front, nothing behind, nothing to the left, and nothing to the right.
I swung it downwards, and there was nothing below either.
I couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief; it seemed that I had indeed been imagining things.
Uh, something felt off. It seemed like there was still one direction I hadn't shone the light on.
I had checked in front, behind, to the sides, and below, but I hadn't looked up yet.
Just then, a rush of water surged from above, as if something was rapidly approaching me. I quickly pointed the spotlight upwards and froze in shock.
Above my head was a gigantic mouth, baring its teeth and rushing towards me.
Yes, all I could see was this enormous mouth because this creature was diving towards me upside down. I couldn't see any other part of it; all I saw was its mouth.
This mouth was at least as big as the front of a truck, with four sharp fangs at the front, each about a meter long, glinting with a cold white light under the spotlight. Inside its open maw were three tongues swaying side to side like alien appendages.
What in the world is this monster?
Without having time to think too much, I raised my hand and unleashed a Thunderous Strike, countless bolts of lightning striking directly at the monster.
A strange sound came from above; the noise in the deep sea was indescribable. It felt as if a hundred Muscular Men were dragging fifty farmers into a cornfield, with muffled sounds of "uhh" and "ahh" everywhere, creating a similar effect.
Then, I saw the monster convulsing all over, starting to roll around above. At that moment, I finally caught a glimpse of its full form.
It was a fish, a Monster Fish I had never seen before. Its entire shape resembled a mushroom, measuring about twenty-five to twenty-six meters long, with just its head being around eleven to twelve meters. On top of the mushroom head, besides the enormous mouth, there was a row of basin-sized eyes right in the center of its forehead; I counted about six or seven of them. On the body of the mushroom, there were densely packed tentacles, each two to three meters long. Strangely enough, its entire body was covered in fish scales, with fins on its back and a tail behind it. That’s why I considered it a fish.
After rolling over ten times, the Mushroom Head Monster Fish finally came to a stop, its seven fierce eyes glaring at me.
Wow, did my Thunderous Strike not kill you? Are you tougher than a Sperm Whale?
I raised my hand again and sent another Thunderous Strike flying. Tens of thousands of bolts of lightning once again enveloped the Mushroom Head Monster Fish. To my astonishment, while the previous Thunderous Strike had caused it to convulse and roll over ten times, this time it only twitched and rolled twice before stopping.
This beast seemed to be slowly adapting to the lightning. Is this even reasonable? Is there no law? Its adaptability is just too strong!
I refused to be discouraged!
Gritting my teeth, I unleashed two more Thunderous Strikes. This time, the Mushroom Head Monster Fish merely Trembled twice and then quietly remained still in the water, its fierce gaze fixed on me. Although the bolts of lightning still danced across its body’s surface, they no longer inflicted any harm whatsoever.
Damn it, this is my ultimate weapon for home travel and silencing people! How can it seem like child's play in front of this Mushroom Head Monster Fish? I even saw provocation in its eyes: come on, keep going; I'll tire you out...
Do you even want to live anymore?
Seeing that I no longer released Thunderous Strikes, there seemed to be a flash of mockery in the Mushroom Head Monster Fish's eyes. I swear it really showed that expression—first provocation, then mockery. This creature must be a high-level being; it might even possess human-like thinking.
Before I could dwell on my thoughts, the Mushroom Head Monster Fish swayed left and right, opened its massive mouth wide, and charged at me headfirst.
Suddenly alarmed, if even Thunderous Strike couldn't do anything to it, what could I do? After all, that was a Grandmaster Level Spell! Should I use the Mysterious Realm Golden Sphere to smash it? Just thinking about the Mysterious Realm Golden Sphere sent a shiver down my spine. In an instant of thought, I entered the Frozen Boundless Realm.
"Ice pops! Ice pops!" I shouted loudly.
"Master, Master, what's wrong?" Ice Cream replied playfully, "You're so excited, did you see a mermaid?"
"Mermaid my ass!" I cursed. This wasn't just random swearing; that big-headed monster that looked like a mushroom did resemble something—like that!
I briefed Ice Cream on the situation outside and asked, "If this guy isn't afraid of Thunderous Strike, what other options do we have?"
Ice Cream thought for a moment and said, "How about trying Fire Elemental Spells?"
"But isn't water supposed to counter fire? If I cast Fire Elemental Spells in water, even if I have the incantation to release it, the power of Fire Elemental Spells would definitely decrease a lot, right? It might not even be as powerful as Thunderous Strike," I expressed my doubts.
"Yes, the power of Fire Elemental Spells would drop significantly. However, as you mentioned, water counters fire; these water monsters must be afraid of fire. Have you ever seen a fish that can't be cooked?" Ice Cream said matter-of-factly.
That made sense. Just as I nodded in agreement, Ice Cream added, "Besides, at Grandmaster Level spells, apart from Thunderous Strike, do you have any other options besides Wildfire?"
I chuckled, "I was originally planning to use your golden ball to hit it once; I don't know if it would work. Anyway, even if you get killed by it, I can still reactivate you."
"Damn, good thing you didn't try that. These guys are not just any Cultivators. If we were defeated by a Grandmaster-level Expert, we could still be reactivated. But if we're harmed by this Monster Fish, there would be no chance of reactivation," Ice Cream said in frustration.
"You mean this Mushroom Head Monster Fish is tougher than a Grandmaster-level Expert?" I couldn't help but shiver.
"Uh, that's not what I meant," Ice Cream said with a few clicks of its tongue. "Have you played Online Games before?"
"Yeah!"
"The damage from cultivators to us is like Magical Damage, while this Sea Monster deals Physical Damage. Magical Damage harms our mana, while Physical Damage harms our bodies." Ice Cream paused for a moment. "Of course, that's just an analogy; in reality, I don't have a body."
"Wasn't the Firebird able to kill that Sperm Whale before?" I countered with an example.
"That was just the Firebird getting lucky. What if it tried against this Monster Fish? It wouldn't stand a chance! This Monster Fish is at least ten times more ferocious than the Sperm Whale," Ice Cream chuckled. "In short, if I'm bitten to death by this Monster Fish, the Icebound Expanse's Mystical Realm will be completely finished. That would be a huge loss for you."
Pfft! If you're afraid of dying, just say so; no need to make it sound so grandiose—how shameless!
Taking a deep breath, I swiftly returned to the water and unleashed a Wildfire.
Even underwater, the power of Wildfire was still formidable. A flash of red light erupted above the sea, and a fireball the size of a Basin quickly hurled toward the Mushroom Head Monster Fish, followed by a second and a third... Soon, the entire water area was filled with dazzling fire rain.
The Mushroom Head Monster Fish seemed to fear these fireballs. Its body, which had been diving rapidly, suddenly came to a halt, frantically dodging left and right. However, the density of the fireballs was immense; no matter how agile this big-headed monster was in evading, it still got hit repeatedly.
With each fireball impact, the monster would convulse. Following the beam of light, I could see that each fireball left a Basin-sized burn mark on its body.
The Mushroom Head Monster Fish rolled and twitched; it seemed to be screaming. I could hear a series of muffled groans like those of a farmer struggling in a cornfield.
It appeared that these Fire Elemental Spells were indeed effective against it. Would it gradually adapt to this Spell? Fortunately, the convulsions of this Mushroom Head Monster Fish did not lessen; instead, as the fireballs continued to strike, its struggles became even more intense.
This is promising!
Seizing the opportunity, I knew exactly what to do next—another Wildfire.
The entire water area was filled with densely packed fireballs, crashing down on the Mushroom Head Monster Fish like shooting stars. Under the illumination of the fiery meteors, I saw that this Mushroom Head Monster Fish had stopped struggling. When the fireballs struck it, there were no more convulsions or twitches; it seemed to lose all sensation and slowly flipped onto its back.
Is it dead?
As my body continued to sink, the figure of the Mushroom Head Monster Fish gradually faded from my sight. Still feeling uneasy, I cast another Wildfire. I saw bright red light erupting above; the mushroom-shaped shadow in the middle remained motionless. It seemed that it was truly dead.
Just as the fireballs began to dwindle and the red light faded away, three mushroom-shaped shadows shot in from afar. Damn, these are three more Mushroom Head Monster Fish!
I watched as they swarmed toward the central Mushroom Head Monster Fish. The last thing I saw was one of them tearing off a large chunk of flesh from the central one...
Damn, this underwater world is too tragic. I need to get out of here quickly; hopefully these Mushroom Head Monster Fish will only swim in the upper waters and won't descend deeper into the ocean.
Looking at my watch, I noted that I was now at 59 meters.
6000 meters...
7000 meters...
8000 meters...
9000 meters...
10000 meters...
Until I reached the seabed, no monsters appeared around me. I looked at my watch; it read 1074 meters.
Under my feet was fine gravel, and besides the gravel, there were some black reefs. I had originally thought that these reefs at the bottom of the sea would be incredibly smooth due to the erosion from the ocean over a billion years, but I was mistaken. These black reefs were jagged, with some areas even sharp as blades, which surprised me greatly.
Occasionally, a few ping-pong ball-sized creatures swam past me. They had no heads or limbs, their bodies were purple and translucent, with a red tube running from the head to the tail. A saying suddenly popped into my mind: "A single intestine runs through to the end."
I scanned the area but found nothing unusual. However, where was this Dragon Palace? Where were the Sea Stabilizing Needle and Ruyi Jingu Bang?
