I was shocked at that moment. I was actually looked down upon by a hideously ugly mermaid, and the reason for the disdain was that I was ugly? 0

Initially filled with surprise, doubt, fear, and panic, I felt both astonished and amused after seeing the mermaid write this passage in the gravel. 0

What surprised me was that this mermaid clearly possessed human intelligence and understood human language; otherwise, it wouldn't have been able to write such a passage in the gravel. I even suspected that if it were not underwater, it could speak as well, since aside from an extra fin and a fish tail, it looked completely human. 0

Additionally, what I found amusing was that despite its own ugliness, it still called me ugly? 0

Even if I had a basin of sulfuric acid thrown on my face, I wouldn't be uglier than you! 0

I bent down and wrote in the gravel: Who are you? 0

The mermaid glanced at me, seemingly pondering something. After a while, its lips moved slightly, and then I saw it blow out a bubble from its mouth. It was like blowing up a balloon; the bubble grew larger and larger until it reached about three meters in diameter. The mermaid stopped blowing and gently pushed the bubble, which then wobbled and floated between me and the mermaid. 0

This must be a spell! 0

I immediately made that judgment. Otherwise, under the pressure of over a thousand atmospheres underwater, an ordinary bubble would instantly be compressed to an extremely small size or even turned into liquid or solid. For example, methane ice is a great example; it is a mixture of gas and water compressed into ice-like crystals. 0

Moreover, this bubble was almost identical to the ones I had created using spells before, so I became even more certain that this was indeed magic. Wow, who would have thought this mermaid could cast spells? Unfortunately, I couldn't determine what level it had reached—whether it was Master-Level or Grandmaster Level—I had no way of knowing. By the way, could this creature be from the Dragon Palace? After all, only those from the Dragon Palace would understand spells and speak human language. 0

The mermaid's lips continued to tremble as if reciting some kind of incantation. After finishing, it extended its right hand and pointed at the bubble before making a gesture inviting me to approach. 0

I pointed at my own nose in surprise, then at the bubble, shrugged my shoulders with open hands to indicate that I didn't understand its meaning. 0

The mermaid furrowed her brows and stepped into the bubble. Inside, her mouth kept opening and closing, but I couldn't hear what she was saying because the bubble completely isolated her voice. However, I guessed her intention was for me to come in and communicate with her. 0

I felt a bit frustrated. There was your saliva on this bubble, and you actually wanted me to step inside? What if you had some contagious disease? Do your parents know how unhygienic you are? After hesitating for a moment and seeing the mermaid frowning and waving at me from inside, I had no choice but to brace myself and walk in. 0

As soon as I entered, the mermaid asked, "Which department are you from? I've never seen you before. Also, how can you be so ugly and still dare to wander near the Dragon Palace? Aren't you afraid that the Comprehensive Management Committee will catch you?" 0

Upon hearing this from the mermaid, I immediately confirmed two things in my mind: first, this mermaid was from the Dragon Palace; second, she mistakenly thought I was also from the Dragon Palace. With a quick thought, I cleared my throat and proudly declared, "I am a trusted aide of the Dragon King." 0

Who knows what departments they have in the Dragon Palace? I decided to give the most impressive answer first. 0

"Trusted aide?" The mermaid suddenly showed an extremely surprised expression. After thinking for a moment, her astonishment turned into flattery, and her voice became unusually friendly. "My esteemed aide, have you eaten yet?" 0

"Uh, I've eaten!" I replied casually, unsure of what she was up to. 0

"Damn! Who are you really? Why are you impersonating someone from our Dragon Palace?" To my surprise, the mermaid immediately turned hostile. With a swift motion, she pulled out a one-foot-long stick from behind her backside—neither gold nor silver, faintly glowing. 0

I wasn't particularly interested in what material the stick was made of; what intrigued me was where she had just hidden it. Did she really conceal it in that blooming place? 0

Seeing that I had no response, the mermaid shouted sternly, "Hurry up! Otherwise, I'll knock you dead!" 0

"On what grounds? I'm clearly a trusted aide of the Dragon King!" I laughed. 0

"Pfft! I just gave you the secret signal, and you didn't respond!" The mermaid spat. 0

"What code?" I asked, somewhat taken aback. 0

"I asked if you have eaten. That's the code. If you are one of us from the Dragon Palace, you should respond with 'I just woke up and haven't had a chance to eat.' That is the correct answer," the mermaid said with a cold smile, shaking the stick in her hand at me. 0

"I'm a new confidant and don't know the code yet!" I stubbornly argued. 0

"A new confidant? What kind of joke is that? Is there a distinction between new and original confidants? Fine, even if you are new, who can prove it?" the mermaid snorted. 0

"Zhuo Wei!" I immediately replied. "Zhuo Wei can prove it." 0

"Are you Captain Zhuo?" The mermaid paused for a moment. 0

Captain Zhuo? Right, when I first met Zhuo Wei, didn't he give me a business card? He was the Director of the development department and also served as the security captain. I nodded pretentiously and said nothing. 0

The mermaid pondered for a moment, then suddenly inserted the stick behind her and pulled out two purple stones from behind her, each about the size of a fist, perfectly round and crystal clear, looking quite beautiful. 0

I became increasingly curious about what these two stones were for. Also, where had she hidden such large stones just now? 0

After glancing at me, the mermaid walked outside the bubble with the two stones and began to strike them in varying rhythms—sometimes fast, sometimes slow, light and heavy... Suddenly, I understood; this was a communication tool similar to our human walkie-talkies. 0

After a while of tapping, the mermaid stopped to listen intently for a moment before continuing to tap and listen again. After more than a minute of this back-and-forth, she finally put away the stones and returned to the bubble, cupping her hands towards me. "Captain Zhuo wants me to take you back!" 0

I waved my hand pretentiously, signaling her to lead the way. 0

The mermaid removed the bubbles and drew a Circle in the sand, then added some strange symbols above the Circle. As the symbols increased, the Circle began to shimmer with rainbow colors, until the last symbol was drawn. Upon closer inspection, the entire Circle looked like a neon light laid out on the sand, flashing in various colors. 0

The mermaid tilted her chin at me and stepped into the center of the Circle. I paused for a moment before following her inside the Circle. 0

Without any visible action from the mermaid, suddenly a silver hemispherical Light Screen enveloped us. Before I could react, the Light Screen abruptly vanished, and I found myself and the mermaid in an extremely grand hall. 0

There was no seawater in the hall; it felt as if we were on land. White mist surrounded us, obscuring any boundaries. The floor was covered with pristine white square tiles, each measuring two meters on each side. Several white pillars stood in the middle; I couldn't tell what material they were made of, but they were completely transparent and emitted a soft white glow. The entire hall was illuminated brightly by these pillars. Each pillar had a diameter of over three meters and extended straight into the clouds. It wasn't just my imagination; the upper part of the hall was also shrouded in white mist, with massive pillars piercing through it, disappearing from sight. 0

From what I could see, the area was as large as a football field and had a height equivalent to ten stories. This was merely the portion visible above the mist; I couldn't imagine how long, wide, or high it extended within. 0

The mermaid smiled at me slightly and said, "Let's go!" 0

She led the way forward. 0

I put away my flashlight and golden ball as we continued onward. The surrounding white mist seemed to follow us; after walking about fifty meters, a row of pillars would appear ahead from within the mist while those behind us simultaneously vanished. After passing through more than thirty rows of pillars, the scenery finally changed; it was no longer just monotonous floors and pillars but a vast living room. 0

This was a living room filled with a Chinese-Style Atmosphere, strictly speaking, it exuded an Ancient Chinese Imperial Palace Atmosphere. The intricate carvings adorned every surface—red pillars with yellow silk drapes, corridors, window frames, table legs, and chair backs were all embellished with various dragons, majestic and elegant, rich yet generous. 0

My first impression was that this place might be the Upper Realm... uh, perhaps it was the Imperial Palace? The legendary Celestial Palace of the Jade Emperor. 0

In the center of the living room sat a middle-aged man who was handsome and refined. Behind him stood a young man—none other than Zhuo Wei. 0

"Hey! It really is you!" Zhuo Wei exclaimed loudly upon seeing me, completely disregarding his status as just a servant. The Refined Middle-Aged Man sitting in front of him must surely be the one in charge here—the Dragon King. 0

"I finally found you." I laughed heartily and then cupped my hands towards the refined middle-aged man. "You must be the Dragon King, right? I've heard so much about you!" 0

The refined middle-aged man's expression was not very pleasant. "I am called the Dragon King, not Dragon King Eight." 0

My smile instantly froze, thinking to myself, isn't that nitpicking? Just as I was pondering, the refined middle-aged man stood up and laughed heartily. "Just kidding. You are Zhong Zhengnan, right? I heard from Zhuo Wei that you have put in quite a bit of effort to help me find the Dragon Palace Descendant. Thank you very much!" 0

As he spoke, Zhuo Wei waved at the Fishman, who immediately understood and stepped out. 0

The refined middle-aged man invited me to sit down. "Dragon King is just a title; my surname is Wen, as in 'warm.' I am Wen Jianru. Does that sound a bit effeminate? Sigh, names are given by parents. When they named me, I was still in my mother's womb, so I really had no say in the matter." 0

I laughed heartily. "That's true!" 0

After exchanging a few pleasantries, Wen Jianru asked me, "Mr. Zhong, you are the first outsider to arrive at the Dragon Palace. I'm not bragging; our Dragon Palace is located deep underwater. Forget about the water pressure; just dealing with those fierce Deep-Sea Creatures is already a formidable barrier. Even a Grandmaster-level Expert would find it quite challenging to reach the bottom of the sea, let alone find the Dragon Palace. I'm curious why you've gone to such lengths to come here." 0

"I'm here to find the Ruyi Jingu Bang," I said directly without hiding my intentions. 0

"The Ruyi Jingu Bang? What Ruyi Jingu Bang?" Wen Jianru looked somewhat astonished and then turned his gaze towards Zhuo Wei, who also wore an incredulous expression. 0
