Zhong Kui's Diary
Behind the door is Changbai Mountain Pool.
I want to take advantage of the remaining light to deal with the magic circle in the water; otherwise, it will be a hassle at night.
I walked over and retracted the portal. Looking around, the entire pool is an irregular oval shape, with deep blue water that seems bottomless. It is said that the pool is a volcanic crater that has accumulated water, claimed to be the highest and deepest lake in China, with a depth of nearly 400 meters.
Surrounding it are sixteen peaks standing tall like guardians of the pool. Among them, nine belong to China, while the other seven belong to North Korea. Changbai Mountain Pool serves as the boundary lake between China and North Korea.
Here, my phone still has no signal. I recalled that Jin Manyuan had given me this hint: "The Giant Gate Platform is located at the bottom of the pool, right in the center of a round deep pit."
Damn, I was planning to complete this magic circle while there was still some light, but I forgot that this magic circle is located underwater, nearly 400 meters deep. Is there any distinction on the outside?
Looking at the blue waters of the pool before me, I moved my limbs a bit. I can't expect Shen Sipan to help with this Giant Gate Platform; it has to be me who goes down personally. I don't even know if my current magical power can withstand nearly forty atmospheres of pressure.
After warming up, I took out a box of mineral water and a few packs of cookies and chocolate and placed them on the ground. After thinking for a moment, I took out a dagger and handed it to Shen Sipan: "I'm going down for a bit; you wait for me here."
Shen Sipan responded with an "Oh," and without much thought, sat down on the ground with the dagger, opened a pack of cookies, and started munching away.
Just as I was about to enter the water, Shen Sipan suddenly called out from behind: "Boss Zhong, can I have a cigarette?"
"Sure!" I laughed and tossed three packs over.
Shen Sipan caught the cigarettes and quickly opened one of the packs: "Boss Zhong, I heard there are Water Monsters in Changbai Mountain Pool. You won't run into any Water Monsters down there, will you?"
"Shut your crow's mouth!" I snapped angrily.
Actually, my anger wasn't because I was mad but because I was scared. Damn it, my magical power hasn't recovered yet; if a Water Monster were to pop out... Ugh, ugh, ugh! Kids say silly things; kids say silly things!
"Ha ha, when the time comes, can you just punch it to death?" Shen Sipan laughed heartily.
Hearing Shen Sipan say this, I suddenly remembered the manual I found inside the jade pendant belonging to Yun Zhihan—Kill You Divine Skill. The Divine Skill is divided into four moves: I Punch You to Death, I Kick You to Death, I Bite You to Death, and I Sit on You and Kill You.
If there is a Water Monster, punching it to death is indeed a good idea. However, I couldn't help but smile wryly; even if this Kill You Divine Skill isn't nonsense, executing that move requires five different types of energy. Right now, my magical power is weak; even if it were full, I only have Yin-Yang Energy, Devouring Energy, and Thunderfire as my four types of energy. I can't gather enough for five.
Back to the point, the Spell of Kill You Divine Skill is actually quite simple; the difficulty lies in gathering the corresponding energy. I Punch You to Death requires five different types of energy, I Kick You to Death requires six different types of energy, I Bite You to Death requires seven different types of energy, while I Sit on You and Kill You requires eight different types of energy.
If only I could fuse another Mysterious Realm Golden Sphere, then I could try out whether this 'I Punch You to Death' is real or fake and see if it's as powerful as described in the manual.
Shaking my head to dispel those chaotic thoughts, I walked over to the edge of the pool and looked around. I pulled out a golden sphere and wrapped it around my abdomen with a net bag. Last time underwater, I felt like holding the golden sphere was a bit cumbersome. Later, Qingcheng made me a net bag that I could wrap around my waist; this way, I could enter and exit the Mystical Realm at any time while freeing up my hands and feet.
Next, I took out a flashlight and wrapped it in a bubble for protection. Although my magical power isn't very strong, this pool is less than 400 meters deep; it should be able to withstand that pressure.
Whatever, I'll just dive in first; if it doesn't work out, I'll think of another way when I'm back up.
I reached into the water and exclaimed, "Yo Xue, the water temperature is quite warm!"
Shen Sipan laughed behind me, "It's warm now, but it'll be cold underwater. One hot and one cold, one yin and one yang—two completely different energies; you'll catch a cold."
Ignoring his rambling, I dove straight into the water.
The spot where I went down was very steep; just one meter from the shore, I sank nearly ten meters before reaching the bottom. Looking ahead, it was pitch black and bottomless.
Cursing under my breath, I turned on the flashlight and continued diving deeper while occasionally checking my watch to see how deep I'd gone.
Meters...
100 meters...
1 meter...
00 meters...
As I sank to 18 meters, the bottom became flat, seemingly all level ground ahead. Feeling the surrounding water temperature had dropped significantly, I shivered. In a moment of thought, I entered the Mysterious Realm Golden Sphere, cooked a pack of instant noodles, ate two pieces of chocolate, and drank a bottle of Erguotou. I also chatted with the Wind Rooster in the Mystical Realm about life aspirations. Only then did I feel warm all over and returned to the water. Checking my watch, I noticed an electronic compass on it, confirmed my direction, and continued forward.
After about ten minutes, I encountered a cliff ahead, dark and bottomless. I estimated that the Round deep pit was just below this cliff. Holding my flashlight, I was about to look down when I vaguely sensed ripples in the water ahead. Startled, I waved my flashlight around and saw a dark Ball slowly rising from below the cliff.
This Ball was oval-shaped, roughly the size of a car, about ten meters away from me. It was densely wrapped in vine-like things that looked somewhat like... like an egg of a prehistoric beast from a Western fantasy movie.
What was even stranger was that this Ball stopped rising right in front of me, seemingly attracted by the light from my flashlight, only slowly bobbing up and down in the water.
Could this be some kind of life form? I shone my flashlight up and down.
Suddenly, my scalp tingled because under the beam of my flashlight, I saw an eye.
Right in the center of this Ball, at some unknown time, an eye as large as a Sea Bowl appeared, staring at me unblinkingly. Then, the vine-like objects below this eye slowly parted, revealing a Big Hole filled with Serrated teeth.
Damn, it's a Water Monster!
The creature before me continued to change slowly; those vine-like objects on its body gradually spread apart as if filled with blood, standing upright like sharp spikes. Once it fully extended its spikes, a Giant Hedgehog appeared before me.
Unlike a hedgehog, it had only one eye and one mouth. Besides its spikes, it had about ten limbs resembling tentacles or fish fins that swayed slowly in the water as if to maintain balance.
Once the Giant Porcupine Water Monster extended all its spikes, its limbs suddenly whipped around, propelling its entire body toward me with its mouth wide open. In the beam of my flashlight, its Serrated teeth gleamed ominously white.
Crap, this thing is going to eat me!
Not expecting to dodge its attack, my speed in the water felt like slow motion from a movie. Compared to this underwater monster's speed, it was like comparing a songbird from a salon on Yunyang Street to a technician from Emperor Club regarding Health Treatment skills—there was simply no comparison.
With both hands raised, two Blazing Lanterns shot towards the Hedgehog Water Monster. I initially thought these two Fire Element spells would inflict some damage on the Water Monster, but to my horror, due to insufficient mana, the two Blazing Lanterns were extinguished by the lake water before they could even complete two rotations.
What the hell, is this expired finger-licking chicken? Do I even have a chance to survive?
At this moment, the Giant Porcupine Water Monster was still five meters away from me.
In a moment of desperation, I swung my hands again, and two lightning bolts as thick as cucumbers struck the Water Monster's body.
The Water Monster merely shuddered slightly, as if it had been lightly bumped while playing basketball. Although it was startled, it was only startled and did not sustain any damage.
The truth of the matter was cruel; the Water Monster opened its massive jaws and continued to charge towards me.
Now, the Giant Porcupine Water Monster was less than three meters away from me.
What should I do?
It's all Shen Sipan's fault for being such a jinx, insisting that there was a Water Monster in the water. Damn it, now I'm really in trouble; there is indeed a Water Monster lurking beneath.
What can I do in this situation?
Should I just follow Shen Sipan's suggestion and punch it to death?
That’s unrealistic! Even if I risk everything and exhaust myself, I can only muster four sources of energy; there's no way to gather five. Devouring Energy, Lightning Magic, Fire Elemental Magic, Yin-Yang Energy—counting them up, there are only four…
Wait… hold on.
Before I entered the water, Shen Sipan's words suddenly surfaced in my mind—"It’s warm now, but it will be cold underwater. One hot and one cold, one yin and one yang—two completely different energies..."
Could it be possible that this Yin-Yang Energy can be used as two types of energy?
At this moment, there was no time to think, because the Giant Porcupine Pufferfish was less than a meter away from me, and its tongue was almost licking my face.
With a slight thought, I returned to the Mysterious Realm Golden Sphere.
I couldn't bother chatting with the Wind Rooster; I searched through the Mustard Seed Pendant and finally found the manual for Kill You Divine Skill, reciting the mental formula for "I'll knock you out with one punch."
I planned to test it out in the Mystical Realm first to see if it was possible to master "I'll knock you out with one punch."
I directed the energy within me swiftly toward my right palm. When this energy reached my wrist, I focused intently and sent Devouring Energy to my Thumb, Lightning Magic to my Index Finger, and Fire Elemental Magic to my Middle Finger. As for Yin-Yang Energy, I wasn't confident in separating them because since I first encountered this energy, they had been intertwined and had never separated.
Separate!
I separate!
I separate again!
No matter how hard I tried, this Yin-Yang Energy remained coiled at my wrist, one yin and one yang, one cold and one hot, tightly entwined with no signs of separation.
