"Who are you listening to?" A Li glared at me sideways. 0

"The last person who entered the Hall of Life and Death, Jin Manyuan!" I replied in a low voice. 0

"Your Liu Wangcai, right?" A Li snorted coldly. 0

"Liu Wangcai?" I was somewhat taken aback, not understanding what A Li meant. 0

"Liu Wangcai is the person who activated the Summon array last time. Your Jin Manyuan is just his current name; in the Book of Life and Death, his name is Liu Wangcai!" A Li sneered. 0

I couldn't help but admire that name for its traditional cultural significance. I then curiously asked, "Do you know him?" 0

"Are you kidding? I'm responsible for guiding everyone who activates the Life and Death Treasure Mirror Array. Do we know each other or not?" A Li rolled her eyes at me. "Liu Wangcai's Yin-Yang Energy was relatively weak, so I didn't let him go through this step and took him directly to the Hall of Life and Death!" 0

"You can skip this step?" 0

"Of course!" 0

"That's not fair! Since Jin Manyuan... since Liu Wangcai can skip this step, why can't I?" I shouted immediately. 0

"Why? Because I'm the one leading the way! Everything is up to me! If you keep whining, do you believe I'll make you perform Self-Castration with your sword before you can enter?" A Li threatened me fiercely. 0

"Fine! You're the boss, you decide!" I quickly changed my tone. Damn it, she mentioned Self-Castration; I didn't dare to be mischievous anymore. 0

Seeing me like this, A Li couldn't help but chuckle softly before covering her mouth. The amusement on her face was hard to conceal. After a while, she cleared her throat and tried to maintain a serious expression: "Alright, enough nonsense. You should absorb this page of The Scroll of the Greedy Wolf first." 0

A Li extended her right hand in front of her, palm facing up, and slowly raised it. 0

With a faint buzzing sound, a black Metal Hemisphere slowly floated into view in front of me. Upon closer inspection, I realized that this black Metal Hemisphere was buried beneath the Greedy Wolf Platform Array. 0

It seemed that A Li's magical power was quite impressive; with just a casual wave of her hand, she summoned the buried Greedy Wolf Platform Array. 0

A Li wanted me to retrieve the Book of Life and Death, but it didn't seem like a difficult task. I estimated that soon the array would make a popping sound and spit out the Greedy Wolf Scroll, at which point I could just pick it up... 0

After waiting for a while without any movement, I couldn't help but look at A Li, only to find her staring back at me with a frustrated expression. Scratching my head, I curiously asked, "A Li, why hasn't The Scroll of the Greedy Wolf come out yet?" 0

A Li seemed a bit exasperated: "Do I have to teach you everything? You activated it in the beginning, so just absorb it the same way now! By the way, let me remind you that the Book of Life and Death will enter your body in the form of energy. You have to wait until all its energy has entered your body before you can withdraw your hand." 0

"How will I know when I've absorbed all its energy?" I frowned. 0

"When the array returns to its original color, it means all the energy has entered your body!" 0

So that's how it works. 0

I placed my palm directly above the Metal Hemisphere, aligning it with the position of The Scroll of the Greedy Wolf. After silently reciting the incantation, there was no response from the array. I was taken aback and tried reciting the incantation again, but still no reaction from the array. 0

I withdrew my hand and turned to A Li: "Why is there no response?" 0

A Li was equally astonished: "How is that possible?" She then furrowed her brows and looked at me: "Did you recite the incantation backwards?" 0

"What do you mean? Why would I recite it backwards?" I was completely baffled. 0

"Oh, ah!" A Li held her forehead with her hand, looking utterly distressed and unable to bear the sight of me. It seemed that if she looked at me for one more moment, she would break down. After a while, she forced a smile and said, "The spell you originally cast needs to be reversed now that you want to absorb it; you have to recite the spell backward!" 0

Damn, why didn't you say so earlier! I frustratedly placed my palm back on the magic circle and recited the spell in reverse. Suddenly, a stream of Yin-Yang Energy began to flow gently into me from the magic circle. This Yin-Yang Energy, though soft, was abundant and endless. 0

This surprised me a bit. When I first activated the magic circle, my The Scroll of the Greedy Wolf was sent out with a whoosh. Now that I'm drawing it back, how come there's so much energy? 0

Turning to look at A Li, she had already returned to the driver's seat of the Tractor and pulled out a phone. Soon, sounds from a movie began playing from the device. 0

Yo Xue, it's the latest blockbuster Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. 0

That's fine; you watch your movie while I absorb my energy—let's not interfere with each other. 0

I don't know how much time passed; it felt like an entire night before all the Yin-Yang Energy finally entered my body. The magic circle in front of me returned to its original blood-red color, and hundreds of silver-white lights began swirling around it again. 0

Raising my hand, I found that The Scroll of the Greedy Wolf on top of the Metal Hemisphere had completely vanished. In its place, the card-sized groove for placing the Greedy Wolf Scroll reappeared. 0

Feeling the Yin-Yang Energy within me, I realized it was as vast as an ocean—deep and unfathomable. 0

Damn, this is just one The Scroll of the Greedy Wolf, and there's already this much Yin-Yang Energy. If I gather all Seven Pages of Life and Death Manual, wouldn't I have... seven times this amount of energy inside me? 0

While I was lost in thought, I noticed ripples forming around the blood-red Greedy Wolf Platform before it gradually disappeared into thin air. Turning my head, I saw that A Li had put away her phone at some point and was now holding her hand up in front of her with her palm facing down, slowly rising and falling. Once the Greedy Wolf Platform completely vanished, A Li withdrew her hand and said to me, "Next, we are going to the second magic circle to absorb the Xuan Ju Men Scroll from Changbai Mountain Pool." 0

I climbed onto the Tractor and couldn't help but remind her, "A Li, according to the order in which I activated them earlier, the second one should be located at Jade Balance and Integrity Scroll in Taklamakan Desert." 0

A Li remained silent as she started up the Tractor and turned it into Starlit Passage. She then raised an eyebrow at me and said, "Don't you think you're more professional than I am in this regard?" 0

"Of course not, you're the best!" I chuckled. 0

"Then stop rambling!" A Li huffed. 0

I responded with an "oh" and fell silent, gazing at the monotonous and dull starry sky, feeling a bit bored. After thinking for a moment, I simply took out my phone to look at it. According to Cao Dama Zi's "Zhong Kui's Diary," it had already exceeded one and a half million words; I could dive right in. 0

Seeing that I was no longer speaking, A Li instead said, "The Book of Life and Death has a specific order, just like the Big Dipper Seven Stars. The first is the Hub Star, followed by Xuanxing, Jixing, Authority Star, Jade Balance Star, Kaiyang Star, and Yao Guang Star. The order of the Seven Pages of Life and Death Manual corresponds to this. Previously, you activated the formation without needing to follow the order, but now if you want to absorb the energy from the Book of Life and Death, you must do so in sequence." 0

So that's how it is, I thought with an "oh," continuing to read while murmuring to myself, "Wow, Zhong Kui's Diary is so good." 0

"Hey! I'm talking to you!" A Li exclaimed angrily when she saw I was ignoring her. 0

"You, you... I'm listening!" I flipped a page. "Wow! Cao Dama Zi is so shameless!" 0

A Li sneered, "It seems I should revise the conditions for entering the Hall of Life and Death; for example, self-castration with a sword would be quite fitting." 0

"Don't! Don't!" Faced with her threat, I quickly put away my phone and smiled as I changed the topic. "By the way, have you been living alone all these eight hundred years?" 0

A Li shot me a cold glance. "What do you think?" 0

"Don't lie to me. Just look at you; you have a phone, a tractor, and SpongeBob's underwear. Oh right, that movie you were watching earlier—wasn't it the recently released Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? These things can't just appear out of thin air with a spell." I raised my eyebrows and smiled proudly. "What does this mean? It means you've always been connected to the outside world." 0

"Haven't you heard of express delivery?" A Li replied coldly. "I buy things online, and they deliver them to my door. Isn't that how those homebodies among humans live?" 0

"Come on, which express delivery company is so amazing that they can deliver right into your hands?" I scoffed. "Do you think everyone is like you, owning such a flashy tractor?" 0

"Idiot, just throw it in the designated place. Can't I go get it myself?" A Li looked at me with disdain. "There are so many people flipping houses now, creating so many haunted houses that no one lives in. Just find any house as a pickup location; who would notice?" 0

"Then why don't you just go buy it outside? You can't even meet people." 0

"I want to, and what’s it to you?" 0

... 0

The two of us bickered almost the entire way, but we were also busy collecting items. We extracted the Xuan Ju Men Scroll at Changbai Mountain Pool, the Jade Record Volume at Shennongjia, the Authority Text Scroll at Emei Golden Summit, the Jade Balance and Integrity Scroll at Taklamakan Desert, the Kaiyang Wuqin Scroll at Shaolin Temple, and the Yao Guang Breaking Army Scroll at Kunlun Mountain Death Valley. 0

At each location, A Li casually waved her hand to summon a magic circle. It seemed to be unaffected by distance; whether at the shore of Changbai Mountain Pool, on a deserted peak of Emei Golden Summit, or outside an oasis in Taklamakan Desert... as long as A Li waved her hand, the magic circle would appear before me. 0

I curiously asked her, "If distance doesn't matter, why do we have to run around?" 0

A Li laughed at me. "You wouldn't understand something profound like this. Just think of it as having a control range. If we exceed that range, I can't summon these magic circles!" 0

I felt extremely frustrated; she was really underestimating me. What does she mean by something profound that I wouldn't understand? With all my magical power, I'm quite unmatched in this world. 0

Originally, I wanted to show off Ji Wuyuan's Spatial Portal. This broken tractor takes several minutes to reach its destination while my Spatial Portal only requires me to step through. However, I realized that although the portal is fast, it has a cooldown time of half an hour. Compared to that, there wasn't much to brag about, so I decided not to bring it up. 0
