Zhong Kui's Diary
I was a bit skeptical: "Isn't it enough to just smash it with one punch? Why go through all this trouble?"
The Mountain Demon looked at me disdainfully: "Smash it with one punch? Please, we are the ultimate bosses of this world, how could we be like those monsters? If you don't follow my plan, the Lion Knight Guardian will rapidly recover its health..."
Linzi had somehow walked up to my side and said softly, "If this Reincarnation is also set by the Ten Directions Monk, based on my understanding of Reincarnation, the Mountain Demon is right. They can indeed recover health quickly; you must follow its lead to defeat the Lion Knight Guardian."
I nodded. I was still somewhat doubtful about the Mountain Demon, but since Linzi said so, it seemed like that was the case.
At that moment, the Lion Knight Guardian stood up and coldly said to the Mountain Demon: " Mountain Demon, stop talking nonsense. If you have the guts, let's perish together!"
The Mountain Demon laughed heartily: "You know very well that we both recover health quickly when we're about to die; even if we wanted to perish together, it's impossible."
Then, the Mountain Demon raised its Big Iron Pickaxe, drawing an arc in the air as it swung towards the Lion Knight Guardian's head. The Lion Knight Guardian also raised two battle axes in retaliation, and for a moment, the two monsters fought fiercely, darkening the sky.
Watching them clash, I was somewhat confused about the situation. Frustrated, I pulled out a pack of Spicy Strips to calm myself down and lit a cigarette, occasionally blowing smoke rings to express my bewilderment.
The skills of a boss-level expert were impressive; when the Mountain Demon struck down with its pickaxe, the Lion Knight Guardian lost a hundred million health points. In return, a single swing of the battle axe from the Lion Knight Guardian could take away a hundred million health points from the Mountain Demon. I could only see the golden Lion Knight Guardian and silver Mountain Demon rolling and tumbling around until they were both left with only a few million health points.
At this point, the Mountain Demon swiftly retreated to the side and sneered: "Zhong Zhengnan, hurry up!"
I tossed aside my cigarette butt, took a running start, and used my toes to push off from the Lion Knight Guardian, flipping onto its back before leaping onto the back of the Minotaur. I grabbed one of its horns with each hand and activated my Devouring Energy, forcefully sending it into the horns.
As I did this, the health bar above the Lion Knight Guardian began to drop rapidly; its millions of health points quickly dwindled. Just when I thought it was about to explode, suddenly, the health bar of the Lion Knight Guardian vanished without a trace. At that moment, an immense suction force emerged from those two horns, continuously drawing in my Devouring Energy.
A sense of foreboding rose within me. I tried to loosen my grip and retreat but found that the suction from the horns was incredibly strong; I couldn't escape their pull. At the same time, my internal Devouring Energy surged forth like a flood breaking through a dam.
The violent energy leakage left me feeling weak all over. Under these circumstances, not only could I not attack the Lion Knight Guardian, but even maintaining my balance felt like an achievement.
Damn, what is going on? Turning to look at the Mountain Demon, I found it had vanished without a trace. Meanwhile, beneath me, the body of the Lion Knight Guardian suddenly began to shrink. As it shrank, I slowly descended along with it. When my feet touched the ground, what stood before me was no longer a towering figure but a Minotaur roughly my height; its lion mount below its waist had disappeared, replaced by two legs.
My hands were still stuck to the two horns of the Minotaur, unable to move. The Devouring Energy was continuously being transmitted from the horns, and their capacity seemed endless.
Linzi shouted beside me, "Zheng Nan, what's going on?"
I forced a smile and replied, "I don't know what's happening either, but it feels off. By the way, did you see that Mountain Demon with the iron pickaxe just now?"
Linzi said, "It turned into a white light and drilled into this Lion Knight Guardian's body."
"It drilled into the Lion Knight Guardian?" I was puzzled.
After thinking for a moment, I asked Linzi to summon two giants to grab my legs and pull me back to see if they could tear me away. But no matter how hard the giants tried, my hands remained firmly attached to the horns and wouldn't budge. In frustration, I told Linzi to stop pulling; if she didn't, I would be torn in half.
"How about you control the giants to hit Minotaur on the head a couple of times?" I gasped for breath.
Linzi agreed and was about to command the giants to attack Minotaur when a sinister voice came from Minotaur: "Yurou Lin, be good and go play over there for a while. Don't bother grandpa."
The tone was extremely gentle, as if a kind old man were coaxing his granddaughter with a lollipop. What left us even more dumbfounded was that upon hearing Minotaur's words, Linzi's eyes went blank, and she obediently walked aside, staring ahead in silence.
"Hey! Linzi! Linzi! What's wrong with you?" I panicked and shouted loudly.
Linzi seemed not to hear me, staring vacantly into the distance.
What is going on? Has she fallen under some soul-binding spell? How did she end up like this? Helplessly, I kept calling out Linzi's name loudly, hoping to wake her from this nightmare-like state.
"Stop shouting; even if you scream your throat raw, it won't help," Minotaur sneered.
This time, his voice changed slightly, carrying a familiar tone. Suddenly, I realized: "Damn it, you're Ten Directions! So it's you, Stupid Donkey."
"Hahahaha, yes, it's me..." Ten Directions laughed heartily before cursing loudly: "Damn it, you're the Stupid Donkey! Your whole family is full of Stupid Donkeys! If you keep calling me Stupid Donkey, I'll kill you!"
“Stupid Donkey! Specially—bald, fish—donkey, Stupid Donkey. Friends, remember, the rhyme after 'donkey' is 'fish', not 'woo', it's fish donkey, not 'le wu lu'.” I wasn't afraid of him killing me at all and mocked loudly.
I wasn't stupid; I realized that Lion Knight Guardian was transformed by him, and naturally understood that he was behind all this, aiming to absorb my Devouring Energy. Therefore, he wouldn't let me die until all the Devouring Energy within me was drained.
“Yo Xue, quite clever, huh? You know I won't kill you.” Ten Directions suddenly transformed into an old monk, but his horns turned into his two arms, palms facing mine. The Devouring Energy within me continuously flowed into his body through our palms.
“Stupid Donkey! Thieving bald!” I cursed in a flurry.
“Do you think I can't deal with you? Hehe, do you believe I want Yurou Lin to commit suicide?” Ten Directions sneered.
“Damn, you’re ruthless!” I immediately felt deflated; Ten Directions had hit my weak spot with that remark.
Ten Directions Monk laughed heartily, feeling quite pleased with himself. After a while, he said, “Don't you have anything to ask me?”
“What else is there to ask?” I replied gloomily. “It's obvious that all the settings in this Reincarnation were arranged by you. First, you tricked me into thinking that defeating Lion Knight Guardian would lead me to the next stage. Then you used Reverse Asura to elevate my Devouring Energy to the maximum before deceiving me into willingly sending my Devouring Energy into your body.”
“Hahaha, that's right; the latter part of the story is roughly like that. But you definitely don't understand the first half very well.” Ten Directions Monk said smugly.
“The first half? What could there possibly be? Isn't it because I accidentally cracked Linzi's Reincarnation, and then you discovered my Devouring Energy, which sparked your desire to seize it?” I exclaimed in surprise.
“What Reincarnation or not Reincarnation, there's no such thing at all.” Ten Directions Monk laughed heartily: “You fool, have you watched too many time-travel dramas? Do you really think you can travel back and forth through different timelines?”
“What do you mean?” I asked in astonishment.
“The so-called Reincarnation and time travel are all fake! Right now, you're actually in Black Wind Village, in Yurou Lin's room. What you're seeing now is just an illusion; simply put, you're currently within the ' Thirty-Three Caves ' formation.” Ten Directions Monk chuckled.
“What?” I exclaimed and then shouted loudly: “How is that possible? There are no more people with magical powers in this world; how can you cast a formation? Damn it, are you the Dark Overlord?”
“Dark Overlord is nothing!” Ten Directions spat fiercely: “When I was dominating back then, they didn’t even know where to suckle!”
"Then who are you, and how do you possess magical power?"
"The question of who I am is too profound for us to discuss right now. As for how I possess magical power, I can reveal a little."
"What is it?"
"Taking medicine, haha, such a simple thing and you couldn't figure it out." The Ten Directions Monk laughed heartily again. "Although I've lost my magical power, I have pills that replenish it. Taking one can match the strength of a Grandmaster Level expert."
I suddenly remembered that the Ten Directions Monk had taken a pill right in front of me earlier and even supplemented his calcium. It turned out to be to replenish his magical power. Then I thought of something: "Since your Reincarnation doesn't exist, then what about Linzi's experience with Reincarnation?"
"Yurou Lin is the most important part of my plan. After formulating the plan, the first thing I needed to do was find a local resident with some knowledge of Black Magic at Daihei Mountain. Coincidentally, I encountered her and captured her, placing her into the 'Thirty-Three Caves.' Inside the magic circle, I set up a main storyline, making her believe she was the protagonist of the story. Once she was completely convinced of this, I began executing the other steps of my plan to bring her closer to you," the Ten Directions Monk said with a strange smile.
"I'm still a bit confused."
"A long time ago, I knew you possessed Devouring Energy. However, forcibly taking it from you wouldn't work. First, your Devouring Energy is too weak; if I took it, it would be useless. Second, simply using force won't help in taking your Devouring Energy; you must actively infuse it into me." The Ten Directions Monk squinted his eyes and smiled. "So, not only do I need to enhance your Devouring Energy, but I also need to make you willingly infuse that energy into me."
"Ah, it seems I'm starting to understand."
