Zhong Kui's Diary
With my and Fatty's occasional cheers, the battle in the arena was nearing its end. Lin Lin was beaten to a pulp by Lou Wei, her once beautiful face now resembling a terrifying demon. In the end, she transformed into a monster with a human face and a bird's body, with a green snake hanging from each ear and another two at her feet, shrieking fiercely as she fought Lou Wei.
I initially thought that Yujang would become much more aggressive after transforming, but to my surprise, Lou Wei deftly used his brush to strike four times, causing the four green snakes to vanish into smoke. Yujang panicked; first, Lou Wei hit her wing with the brush, preventing it from flapping. Then he drew a talisman on her head, which made her emit an exceptionally piercing scream. With a series of cracking sounds, Yujang was rapidly frozen in mid-air. Lou Wei flipped the brush and struck the ice block forcefully, shattering it into pieces that evaporated before they could even touch the ground.
Fatty and I, smoking cigarettes, cautiously approached Lou Wei. We waved our hands in the air aimlessly and flicked away our cigarette butts. I asked suspiciously, "Is that it?"
"What did you expect?" Lou Wei put away his brush and glanced at me sideways. "Did you want me to fight him until both sides were severely injured for your enjoyment?"
"Do we look like that kind of people?" Fatty exclaimed indignantly.
"Yes!"
"Conscience! Why are we still in the same boat? What benefit do we get if you die?" Fatty shouted in protest.
Lou Wei snorted coldly. "Do you think I don't understand your human thoughts? I'm just too lazy to argue with you."
I chuckled lightly and changed the subject. "Lou Wei, weren't you supposed to be possessing Li Haifeng? How did you end up as Yujang?"
Lou Wei's expression turned thoughtful. "Initially, the aura I sensed was undoubtedly from Kui. I'm just as puzzled as to why it became Yujang."
Fatty muttered, "We've already checked everyone under Li Haifeng, even those servants from the Li Family. We brought you along to verify everything; there shouldn't be any mistakes."
Lou Wei's face darkened. "I still stand by my judgment; that Kui must have possessed someone under Li Haifeng—Zheng Nan. Given the circumstances, there's no other way. I'm prepared to kill these thousands of people; it's better to kill wrongly than to let anyone escape!"
Is this really the only way? Although I knew that thousands of lives were trivial compared to billions, I couldn't bring myself to agree to killing those thousands; I hesitated for a moment.
"Mercy is a woman's weakness!" Lou Wei looked at me disdainfully.
I sighed bitterly; he wasn't wrong about that. When it came to decisiveness in killing, I was even outdone by some women, like Grandma Song, who could effortlessly use Vedic Formation without any concern.
Thinking of Grandma Song led me to think of the Song Family. Suddenly, an idea flashed through my mind: "Wait, I got it!"
Fatty and Lou Wei looked at me in surprise.
"Diao Qi! There's another Diao Qi!” I exclaimed loudly. “He was captured and taken to the dungeon from the very beginning, so we never checked for him. It must be him! He must be Dark Demon King Kui!”
Lou Wei and Fatty both nodded in agreement. The three of us jumped into the car and sped towards the outskirts of Star City. The Song Family has a villa here, and Diao Qi was locked up inside.
At that moment, the Song Family members had already returned to their main base; this place was just one of their many properties, used for leisure and relaxation. Inside the villa, there were only a few servants, and A Li, who was sleepily looking at us. “Zheng Nan, are you three here to play Mahjong with me?”
“Forget about that! Where is Diao Qi? Where is Diao Qi locked up?” I asked urgently.
“Forget about my sister? Did Mengmeng offend you? Unfortunately, she left earlier; Star City isn’t fun,” A Li yawned widely and laughed.
“Come on, I’m not joking. Diao Qi is Dark Demon King Kui!” Fatty shouted from the side.
“Diao Qi is Dark Demon King Kui?” A Li’s expression changed immediately, and he hurriedly led us to a bedroom. He pressed a switch, and a wardrobe silently moved aside, revealing a dark passage. After pressing another switch in the passage, it lit up brightly.
Just as he was about to take us inside, Lou Wei stopped A Li: “This Kui has a special move called Dark and Gloomy. Even if he hasn’t successfully broken through, its power is still formidable. So someone like you would just be a burden.”
Upon hearing this, A Li didn’t get angry; instead, he smiled at Lou Wei: “Inside there’s a password lock. The code on the iron gate is haduhuzi, and the code on the cage above is adaazihashuai.”
Fatty and I stood there laughing, waving goodbye to Lou Wei, reminding him to fight bravely and that we would treat him to hot pot later.
Lou Wei raised an eyebrow at me: “Zheng Nan, you have to come with me.”
“Why?” I asked in surprise. “I don’t have any magical powers.”
“Don’t think I don’t know you have Devouring Energy,” Lou Wei squinted his eyes, a cold glint flashing in them.
“I do have it, but I'm not very familiar with it,” I scratched my head in frustration. How did he know I had Devouring Energy? But then I realized—he is a Dark Overlord, so it makes sense that he has some ability to sense it.
“It’s fine; as long as you have Devouring Energy, you can help me. This move of Kui’s, Dark and Gloomy, is extremely powerful. If it’s just me alone, I can handle him but will definitely get hurt, which would make dealing with the remaining few Dark Overlords troublesome,” explained Lou Wei.
I understood now. After giving a few instructions to Fatty, I followed Lou Wei into the passage.
We turned left and right until we reached a large iron gate at the end of the passage. Behind the gate were four cages; three of them were empty, while in the outermost cage on the right lay a pale middle-aged man—this man was none other than Diao Qi. Upon seeing us enter, a strange expression flickered across his face.
"Beast, show your true form quickly!" With Lou Wei, the already successful Dark Overlord by my side, I felt emboldened.
However, Diao Qi ignored my words, standing up and glaring fiercely at Lou Wei: "Qiongqi, what do you mean?"
"I mean nothing, just want to kill you," Lou Wei snorted coldly, pulling out a brush and inkstone. The inkstone was already filled with a brilliant golden liquid, indicating he was well-prepared.
"What does your grudge with the Queen Mother of the West have to do with me? How dare you obstruct my progress?" Diao Qi retorted angrily.
"Without your assistance in tyranny, could the Queen Mother of the West be so rampant?" Lou Wei sneered.
"So you intend to fight to the death?" Diao Qi's eyes began to swirl with purple energy.
Seeing this, Lou Wei wasted no time. He held the brush horizontally across his chest, and a golden light about a foot long flickered at the tip of the brush, dancing like flames ignited by a lighter. Then, Lou Wei swiftly drew a line in the air with the brush. The golden light shot out and struck the iron bars, creating a dazzling burst of gold light. A large hole appeared in the iron bars separating us from Diao Qi.
The edges of the hole glimmered with silver light and were incredibly sharp, as if cut by a machine.
Quickly crossing through the hole, Lou Wei dipped his brush into the inkstone again. The tip sparkled with golden light as he aimed it directly at Diao Qi's face.
But Diao Qi merely scoffed, crossing his arms over his chest. Instantly, a ring of translucent purple pillars appeared around him, towering two meters high and over a meter wide, enveloping Diao Qi within.
Lou Wei's brush struck the purple pillar directly, emitting flickering sparks accompanied by crackling sounds. The pillar glowed brightly in purple without sustaining any damage.
"Is this all the power you have after breaking through?" Diao Qi mocked.
With a cold shout, Lou Wei swiftly inscribed various runes on the pillar with his brush. Soon, golden runes covered the surface of the purple pillar until there was no space left to write. Only then did Lou Wei shout loudly, retracting his inkstone with his left hand and forming a spell with it, pointing at the purple pillar.
In an instant, golden light erupted as those runes seemed to come alive, swiftly moving across the surface of the purple pillar. As Lou Wei changed his left hand's spell gestures, the speed of the runes increased dramatically until they transformed into golden phantoms.
Inside the purple pillar, Diao Qi surprisingly closed his eyes as if he didn't care about Lou Wei's attack at all.
"Go!" Lou Wei shouted angrily. The golden phantoms suddenly vanished as if merging into the purple pillar. At that moment, the purple light surged intensely; the translucent purple pillar rippled like water waves, and the ripples grew larger and more violent.
With a loud pop, the purple pillar exploded into azure smoke. However, hidden within it, Diao Qi had a face full of purple energy and wore a mocking smile as he slowly opened his eyes. His eyes were entirely deep purple without any distinction between iris and sclera.
Looking at Lou Wei, Diao Qi's smirk became more pronounced. "Thank you for helping me break through."
What? Helping him break through? I, who had been watching from the sidelines, was suddenly shocked and turned to Lou Wei, only to see the same astonishment on his face.
"Damn, how did you manage to reverse the situation with the Queen Mother of the West? You actually used my power to succeed," Lou Wei shouted, his voice filled with disbelief.
"I have been in love with the Queen Mother of the West for many years. What's so strange about us learning some Kung Fu from each other?" Diao Qi scoffed. "There's a saying by a historical figure named Genghis Khan: if you want to do something, just do it. Aren't you looking for a life-and-death struggle? Then let's go for it!"
Lou Wei glanced at me and said sternly, "Zheng Nan, channel your Devouring Energy and get ready to help."
"Devouring Energy?" Diao Qi seemed surprised at this and looked me up and down with intense scrutiny before sneering, "With his pathetic state, he dares to have Devouring Energy?"
As he spoke, Diao Qi clapped his palms together in front of his chest, forming a Purple Energy Sphere the size of a ping pong ball in his hands. As he pulled his hands apart, the Purple Energy Sphere rapidly grew larger until it reached the size of a basketball.
Seeing this, Lou Wei turned pale with fear and waved his brush towards the glowing sphere while shouting, "Zheng Nan, quickly attack that sphere! Don't let him use Dark and Gloomy!"
