Huo Feng finally saw the full appearance of this beast. This creature was the largest he had ever encountered, with one of its legs being as long as Huo Feng. It had six tails, but at the front, instead of a head, it had an upper body resembling that of a human, though its hands were covered in hard-shelled claws.
It had a single massive green eye on its face, no nose, and its teeth were jagged like saw blades. Drool dripped from its mouth in large globs, and it occasionally secreted a thick green goo that emitted a foul odor.
Seeing such a creature, it was no wonder that Ruo Xi screamed in terror. This was the most terrifying giant poisonous beast in the Dark Poison Forest, the Cyclops Beast.
The Cyclops Beast kicked Huo Feng aside and turned its gaze toward Ruo Xi. With that one kick, Huo Feng spat out blood and was sent crashing against the wall of the cave before falling heavily to the ground.
As he watched the Cyclops Beast approach Ruo Xi step by step, Huo Feng hurriedly commanded his Ice Puppet to block it. However, the Cyclops Beast did not stop; with a casual swipe, it sent the Ice Puppet flying.
Huo Feng noticed fine cracks forming on the chest of the Ice Puppet. Despite this, the Ice Puppet continued to attack repeatedly. Huo Feng could only hope that it would be able to hold off the Cyclops Beast, but it was knocked back time and again, and now some small shards of ice had already fallen from its chest.
However, Huo Feng could no longer care about his injuries or the condition of the Ice Puppet. He saw that the Cyclops Beast had reached Ruo Xi, grabbing her and bringing her close to its enormous single eye for inspection before opening its massive mouth to swallow her whole.
At this moment, Ruo Xi felt utterly helpless. Unable to summon her Origin Force, she resigned herself to her fate and turned to Huo Feng, offering him a sorrowful smile.
"No, please don't..." Huo Feng shouted desperately, but it was of no use. At that moment, he was filled with rage—anger at himself for being powerless and for having gained abilities that seemed useless now; if he hadn't gained them, none of this would have happened.
He hated himself for being so weak, watching as Ruo Xi was about to be devoured while he could do nothing. What was the point of his training if he couldn't protect those he cared about? A wave of intense anger and frustration surged within him as he repeatedly questioned himself.
Suddenly, Huo Feng entered a strange state; his eyes turned blood-red, and a crimson mist enveloped him as his blood surged violently within. In that moment, he stood up defiantly and began to punch the walls of the cave with all his might.
This sudden change in Huo Feng caught the attention of the Cyclops Beast. Each punch became heavier than the last, causing the cave to tremble as if it might collapse. The beast did not understand why Huo Feng, who seemed poisoned, still possessed such strength. However, it did not dwell on it; despite being an Eighth Level Human Pulse Realm beast, its instincts remained primal and simple-minded as long as it had not reached Vein Realm.
However, it sensed a dangerous aura near Huo Feng, dropped Ruo Xi, and quickly raised its claws to strike at Huo Feng.
Meanwhile, Huo Feng was still punching the wall. Seeing this, Ruo Xi cried out, "Huo Feng, get away! Quickly!" Ruo Xi shouted desperately at Huo Feng, but he remained oblivious and continued to punch.
Just as the Cyclops Beast's claw was about to pierce Huo Feng's back, an astonishing transformation occurred on Huo Feng.
A golden light radiated from his body, and his clothes began to shred. This scene caused the Cyclops Beast to halt its impending attack and retreat rapidly.
As the light faded, Huo Feng's body quickly expanded, becoming much larger than before. Except for his head, countless golden scales grew all over him, and his hands transformed into golden claws that were long and sharp, seemingly stronger than the Cyclops Beast's claws. A long tail covered in golden scales emerged behind him. His eyes remained blood-red but exuded an overwhelming majesty.
Ruo Xi was stunned by this sight; she felt she had never seen anything like it before. Someone could transform into this beastly form, and at that moment, she sensed an ancient aura emanating from Huo Feng that felt strangely familiar. She was left speechless.
The Cyclops Beast trembled as if suppressed by something, fearfully gazing at the transformed Huo Feng and instinctively began to retreat into its cave.
At this moment, Huo Feng let out a long howl that shook the ground. Those participating in the assessment outside collapsed in fear, their legs giving way beneath them. On the mountaintop, Luo and Nangong Yu felt a chill run down their spines. Meanwhile, in the distant mountains, a strange beast seemed to sense something and rushed toward this direction.
After Huo Feng silenced his roar, he instantly vanished from his spot. He did not use any combat techniques but relied solely on his speed. In the next moment, he appeared before the Cyclops Beast. Although he was still not as tall as it was, his imposing presence made it seem smaller.
Huo Feng struck with a claw aimed at the Cyclops Beast's single eye. Although the Cyclops Beast was already panicking, it instinctively defended itself when its life was threatened. It quickly extended its own claws to block Huo Feng's attack while desperately trying to retreat.
However, it underestimated Huo Feng's power. When their claws collided, the Cyclops Beast's claw shattered and fell to the ground, while blood sprayed out without touching Huo Feng.
Now even more terrified, the Cyclops Beast let out a pitiful howl as if begging for mercy from Huo Feng.
But Huo Feng seemed indifferent to everything around him. He appeared once again before the Cyclops Beast and crushed its head with a single punch. Then with a flick of his tail, he separated the upper and lower halves of the Cyclops Beast's body; its lower half with six hooves remained standing there. At that moment, Huo Feng resembled a killing machine, untouched by any traces of the Cyclops Beast.
At that moment, he turned around and walked step by step towards Ruo Xi. Ruo Xi looked at him in astonishment, but when she saw Huo Feng's expressionless face, she exclaimed, "Huo Feng, wake up! It's me, Ruo Xi."
However, Huo Feng seemed not to hear her and continued to approach Ruo Xi. Suddenly, he paused for a moment; his eyes returned to normal, but in an instant, they turned blood red again as he continued to walk towards Ruo Xi.
When he reached Ruo Xi, Huo Feng raised his claw as if to grab her. Ruo Xi still looked at Huo Feng gently and said, "Huo Feng, don't you recognize me? I'm Ruo Xi."
Suddenly, the scales on Huo Feng's body began to disappear one by one, and his body returned to its previous form. When all the scales had vanished, Huo Feng stood before Ruo Xi with a blank expression. As the last trace of red faded from his eyes, he uttered three words: "Ruo Xi, you..." and then fainted.
At this moment, Ruo Xi disregarded any notions of propriety and hugged Huo Feng tightly. She then took out a cloak from her Narcissistic Ring and draped it over him. Next, she searched through her belongings for any medicine that could help her recover so she could check on Huo Feng's condition.
After searching everywhere without finding any antidote for the poison, she finally spotted a mysterious box. She took it out and opened it; a fragrant aroma wafted out, followed by a pink glow spreading around the cave.
At that moment, Ruo Xi felt she could channel Origin Force. Curious about what was inside the box, she began to examine Huo Feng's body.
As Ruo Xi examined Huo Feng, she suddenly sensed something strange: there were two types of energy in his blood—one was the energy inherent to humans, while the other was an ancient energy that Ruo Xi could feel.
These two types of blood flowed together rapidly without conflict; the ancient blood was converging towards the heart from all parts of his body. Ruo Xi was unsure what this phenomenon meant and dared not disturb him.
Once the ancient blood had gathered, Ruo Xi noticed that it formed a ball shape resting in the atrium but seemed not to affect Huo Feng's body.
However, Huo Feng remained unconscious. So Ruo Xi searched his body again and was even more astonished to find that ancient blood still lingered on his right hand. This blood flowed back and forth across his arm and palm as if communicating with Huo Feng's own blood before finally settling in his arm.
At this point, she discovered something incredible: Huo Feng had directly reached the Eighth Level of Human Pulse Realm. Ruo Xi couldn't comprehend any of this.
Just then, Huo Feng woke up. As soon as he opened his eyes and saw Ruo Xi holding him, he smiled and said, "I'm so glad to see you're okay." He stood up suddenly; at that moment, Ruo Xi gasped and covered her eyes with both hands. Huo Feng looked puzzled; feeling a chill on his body, he glanced down only to find himself completely unclothed with the cloak he had just slipped off at his feet. He quickly retrieved some clothes from his Narcissistic Ring and put them on.
After getting dressed, Huo Feng noticed that Ruo Xi was still covering her eyes, so he cleared his throat and said, "Alright, I've put on my clothes. What happened to me just now?"
"You were acting very strangely, and your condition has suddenly stabilized at Networking Stage Five. I wanted to ask you about it," Ruo Xi said as she peeked through her fingers and confirmed that he was indeed dressed before lowering her hands.
"I don't know what happened to me either. All I know is that I felt very angry and had a strong desire for power," Huo Feng replied, puzzled and unable to recall what had just occurred. However, he felt something unusual in his right hand.
"Don't think too much about it. The most important thing is that we're still alive," Ruo Xi said, deciding not to mention the strange situation since he didn't remember it.
Huo Feng was also confused about reaching Networking Stage Five. Suddenly, he felt something odd in his right hand. Without thinking, he focused his mind, and suddenly golden scales sprouted on his right arm, covering his hand with scales and claws. Huo Feng felt an overwhelming surge of power in his right hand.
Huo Feng was stunned; this sudden change was hard for him to accept. Ruo Xi, although aware of some things, did not expect it to manifest like this. She found Huo Feng's transformation very mysterious.
After a moment, Huo Feng asked, "Ruo Xi, what exactly happened before I fainted? Why does my arm look like this?"
Seeing Huo Feng's reaction, Ruo Xi had no choice but to tell him everything that had happened earlier. Huo Feng was extremely surprised and left speechless.
