Chief Liu brought them back to Southern Mansion, where Nangong Mansion Master and Chief Liu went to settle Huo Feng. Meanwhile, Nangong Yu and Xuanran took Xuan Yuan Young Master to Xuanyuan Manor.
Upon arriving at the entrance of Xuanyuan Manor, the two guards recognized Xuan Yuan Young Master from a distance. They hurried over and, seeing that Xuan Yuan Young Master was unharmed, greeted him with smiles, saying, "Young Master, you have finally returned safely. Master and Madam have been worried sick."
"Yes! I apologize for making everyone worry. I will go see my father and mother now." He then turned respectfully to Nangong Yu and Xuanran, saying, "Please come in with me."
Xuanran extended his hand politely, indicating for Xuan Yuan Young Master to go ahead. "Xuan Yuan Young Master, please."
Xuan Yuan Young Master smiled and replied, "Thank you, my benefactors."
After they entered, one of the guards exclaimed in surprise, "Could it be that those two young men saved the Young Master? They look like they are only in their teens."
"Did you not hear the Young Master just call them benefactors? How could you not recognize them? That girl is Nangong Yu, who was specifically requested by Pure Hall Master. As for the one with fiery red hair, I don't know where he is from, but I know he has a good relationship with Southern Mansion," another guard said, looking puzzled that the first guard didn't recognize Nangong Yu.
"Even if they are young, they are still at the Eighth Level of Human Pulse Realm. The Shadow Demon Lord is at the first stage of Earth Vein Realm; how could they possibly save him?" The first guard couldn't understand.
The other guard added, "Yes, I'm quite curious about that too."
While the guards were conversing, Nangong Yu and the others had already arrived in the hall. The servants who were busy there suddenly stopped their work in excitement upon seeing them and gathered around, saying, "Ah! Young Master, you are back!"
"Yes! I have returned safely; I apologize for worrying everyone." He then looked at one of the maids and said, "Die, please go inform my father and mother that I am back."
"Yes! I will go right away." The maid ran out immediately.
Xuan Yuan Young Master turned to Nangong Yu and the others and said, "Please take a seat; my father will be here shortly." He then turned to an older man and said, "Uncle Fu, please bring us some good tea."
As Xuan Yuan Young Master sat down himself, Xuanran spoke up: "Xuan Yuan Young Master, I'm curious why the Shadow Demon Lord wanted to capture you."
"Actually, it's not much. Since you have helped me, I'll tell you the truth. After we left without a trace, our Lan Pavilion was going to hold a grand auction. The Shadow Demon Lord captured me for the finale treasure; I will invite you all to attend. I'm just worried about whether that unconscious brother will wake up in time," Xuan Yuan Young Master said with a look of regret.
"In that case, we must thank Xuan Yuan Young Master in advance," Xuanran said excitedly upon hearing this.
"What does that matter? Compared to your risking your lives to save mine, it's nothing at all. Alas! It's a pity so many people died before; among them were quite a few good ones," Xuan Yuan Young Master reminisced about the scenes in Shadow Cave as his expression gradually turned somber.
"I will send someone to investigate those matters. For those who have families among the deceased, I will provide compensation."
At that moment, a deep voice came from the entrance, and the Xuan Yuan Young Master immediately recovered from his gloom, joyfully calling out, "Father, I'm back."
"My son has finally returned safely; I was so worried. Look at your mother, she has a few more gray hairs," the Xuanyuan Patriarch's voice became much gentler.
The Xuan Yuan Young Master looked at his mother standing beside his father. She was quietly gazing at him, her eyes red and her mouth slightly open but unable to say a word.
"I'm sorry, Mother, for making you worry," the Xuan Yuan Young Master said as he stepped forward to grasp his mother's hands, feeling both resolute and guilty.
At that moment, his mother finally spoke with a trembling voice, "It's fine as long as you're safe."
"We can talk later; it's enough that my son is safe. My son, who are these two?" The Xuanyuan Patriarch asked as he looked at Nangong Yu and Xuanran.
The Xuan Yuan Young Master then remembered that he had brought people back with him. Turning around with an apologetic expression, he said, "I'm really sorry for leaving my two benefactors aside." He then turned to the Xuanyuan Patriarch and said, "Father, Mother, these two are the ones who rescued me. There were originally three of them, but one chose to stay behind to allow us to escape and is now lying unconscious in the Southern Mansion."
Upon hearing his son's words, the Xuanyuan Patriarch immediately bowed deeply to Nangong Yu and Xuanran. Seeing the Xuanyuan Patriarch suddenly perform such a grand gesture of respect, Nangong Yu and the others quickly returned the gesture and helped him up, saying, "Lord Mo, this is a bit embarrassing; we were also looking to gain some experience through this."
"Regardless of anything else, you have done so much for my son; this is a great honor. I will go get your reward right now," the Xuanyuan Patriarch said gratefully.
"Lord Mo, there's no need to rush; we plan to wait until our friend wakes up before coming back for it," Xuanran replied.
"I truly envy you young people—friendship, passion; being young is wonderful," the Xuanyuan Patriarch sighed.
"Lord Mo, since you have safely brought back the Xuan Yuan Young Master, we will take our leave now," Nangong Yu said, not wanting to disturb their reunion after such a long separation.
"Stay and have a meal with us," Xuan Yuan Young Master's mother said at that moment.
"No thank you; we want to return quickly to see if our friend has woken up," Xuanran replied.
Hearing this, the Xuanyuan Patriarch smiled and said, "In that case, we won't keep you. After I host a welcome for my son, I will personally visit your friend."
"Lord Mo is being too polite; we will take our leave now," Nangong Yu said.
Lord Mo nodded. The Xuan Yuan Young Master also clasped his hands together and said, "If you ever need anything in the future, please feel free to ask us; we will certainly do our best."
Nangong Yu and the others bowed slightly to the Xuanyuan Patriarch before leaving Xuanyuan Manor.
Soon, Nangong Yu and Xuanran arrived at the entrance of the Southern Mansion. At that moment, Xuanran curiously asked, "Why are the two guards not here?"
Nangong Yu also found it strange; those two men were very dedicated and should not have left their posts without reason. Furrowing her brows, she said, "This is not good; something must have happened."
With that, Nangong Yu quickly rushed towards the house, followed closely by a worried Xuanran.
As they burst inside, they saw the two guards standing in the hallway leading to the main hall, but their lower bodies were encased in ice, and they were shivering from the cold.
Seeing this scene made Nangong Yu even more anxious. What kind of expert could do this? She didn't have time for further thoughts and hurriedly approached the two men, asking, "Uncles, what happened? Why are you frozen?"
"Big sister, a powerful magical beast came to the mansion... it's very strong," one of them managed to say with difficulty.
"Brother Xuanran, your Origin Force is special and has a fire attribute. Help them melt the ice here; I will go inside to take a look," Nangong Yu said as she flew towards the main hall.
Upon entering the hall, Nangong Yu was met with chaos. The floor was littered with broken tables, chairs, and teacups; water was everywhere, and there were places where ice was still melting. However, the place was empty, which made Nangong Yu even more worried. She quickly headed towards the inner hall.
Just as she moved, she heard faint voices coming from the garden. "Lord Mo, what should we do? This magical beast is too powerful. I thought it had left but didn't expect it to follow us home."
