Star Dragon God
Huo Feng knew that he might be staying at Xiaoyao Fortress for quite some time, so he took the opportunity to inquire about it from Duan Ya.
"Um! Duan Ya, I would like to ask you about the layout of Xiaoyao Fortress. It's so big here that I can't tell where anything is. If it's convenient for you, could you explain it to me?" Huo Feng smiled as he looked at Duan Ya.
"You... aren't you planning to stay here for a long time? I heard..." Duan Ya stopped in his tracks, looking at Huo Feng in surprise, then laughed it off, saying, "Actually, it's nothing. You don't need to think too much about it."
With that, Duan Ya paused and didn't continue.
Huo Feng looked at Duan Ya in confusion. Did he already get into trouble just by arriving at Xiaoyao Fortress? So he curiously asked, "What did you hear? I only arrived here yesterday and haven't done anything yet."
Duan Ya, as if realizing he had misspoken, chuckled lightly and changed the subject: "It's nothing, nothing. Weren't you just asking me about the layout of Xiaoyao Fortress? Let me tell you about it now."
"Xiaoyao Fortress is essentially this entire mountain; it's built around the mountain. This mountain is divided into eleven levels. The very bottom level is the defensive fortifications of Xiaoyao Fortress, which you'll gradually learn about later. The second, third, and fourth levels are where the outer disciples practice and where the medical center is located. The reason for placing the medical center alongside the training area is to facilitate defense and rescue efforts, minimizing unnecessary casualties. It's actually just a continuation of the old model; who would dare provoke us at Xiaoyao Fortress now?"
"And the fifth level is the Training Arena, specifically for sparring and competitions. This is a required course for every disciple of Xiaoyao Fortress. The sixth and seventh levels are where inner disciples practice; they enjoy different treatment there. I think you'll be training there in the future. The eighth level is the beast taming area, which houses various powerful or uniquely skilled magical beasts. Most of them have already been tamed, while those that haven't are forcibly suppressed inside because they are prepared as Contract Beasts for the disciples of Xiaoyao Fortress."
Huo Feng was astonished by the strength of Xiaoyao Fortress. Thinking that Huo Feng was captivated by what he was saying, Duan Ya, being a native disciple of Xiaoyao Fortress, felt quite pleased and continued: "The ninth level is home to the Treasure Pavilion and the Battle Technique Repository. The entire floor is filled with precious Combat Techniques accumulated by our ancestors and collected over recent years, along with various top-tier treasures. As for the tenth level, that's where the big shots of Xiaoyao Fortress reside. And you've already been to the eleventh level; that's a forbidden area, and we have no chance to know what it's like inside."
As they chatted unknowingly, they had already walked up a long staircase to reach the fifth level. At this moment, Huo Feng suddenly asked, "This entire floor is where the Training Arena is located; how do we find out which specific arena we should go to?"
Duan Ya casually replied, "Who challenged you? If someone else initiated the challenge, they would register at this registration hall. We can go there to find out."
So Huo Feng followed Duan Ya toward an entrance on the left side of this level. Before long, they saw a place marked "Registration Hall," and they walked in.
Upon entering, they found many people inside; several registration windows had long lines waiting. When Huo Feng saw this, he frowned—he would definitely have to wait a long time before it was his turn. Seeing Huo Feng's expression, Duan Ya smiled and asked, "I forgot to ask you—who challenged you? Normally, no one would dare offend you."
"Duan Yi," replied Huo Feng lightly.
"What?" Duan Ya, seemingly not understanding at first, looked at Huo Feng in surprise before seeming to grasp it and said, "No wonder..."
Earlier, when discussing rumors about himself, Huo Feng noticed that while Duan Ya had been quiet about it before, now he seemed hesitant again and didn't feel inclined to ask further.
At this moment, Duan Ya, somewhat puzzled, said: "Why did you accept a challenge from Duan Yi? I can tell your realm is actually one level lower than his."
Huo Feng smiled and said, "Sometimes battles are unavoidable, and the outcome is not always determined by a small difference in strength. Well, thank you for bringing me here. I'll wait in line by myself; you can go do your own thing now. I've already taken up enough of your time."
"It's fine, I don't have anything else to do anyway. I'm also curious about your abilities, so I'll just follow you to take a look. But there's no need to wait in line because I'm from the Duan Family, and the one challenging you is also from the Duan Family—Duan Yi, to be exact. That makes things easier; just leave it to me," Duan Ya said as he headed towards a side door of one of the windows.
After a while, Duan Ya came running out excitedly and said to Huo Feng, "Alright, it's all set. Follow me."
Huo Feng followed Duan Ya out of another exit of the hall. Here, there was a neatly arranged row of buildings built against the mountains, with high platforms surrounding them. Below the platforms were the living quarters for outer disciples on four levels. Huo Feng noticed that every place he passed had signs reading "Training Hall No. 1," "Training Hall No. 2," and so on, continuing in this manner.
When they reached "Training Hall No. 10," Duan Ya stopped and said to Huo Feng, "This is it; let's go inside. The Training Arena registered by Duan Yi is in Training Hall No. 10."
Once they entered, Huo Feng found that the interior appeared much larger than the outside and was completely empty, resembling a massive pit dug underground. There was a circular staircase leading downwards, and below were ten separate Training Arenas, each divided into its own space. Some of the Training Arenas were already engaged in combat, with many people watching.
The stands in Arena No. 10 were already packed with spectators. Huo Feng shook his head helplessly; it seemed that Duan Yi had an inexplicable grudge against him and was eager for everyone to see him defeated. Huo Feng and Duan Ya walked directly towards Arena No. 10.
As soon as they entered the independent space of Arena No. 10, Duan Yi noticed their arrival. He pushed through the crowd surrounding him and approached Huo Feng with a smile that suggested he was certain of victory. With a forced grin, he looked at Huo Feng and said, "I thought you were too scared to show up."
Huo Feng glanced sideways at Duan Yi and coldly replied, "As the Young Lord of Xiaoyao Fortress, are you only capable of talking big? Just don't cry later."
Hearing this made Duan Yi's face twitch; he could only snort in response and say, "Hmph! Keep talking tough; just don't die in my hands later."
With that, Duan Yi leaped onto the Training Arena and shot a provocative glance at Huo Feng.
At this moment, Duan Ya quietly said to Huo Feng, "Good luck! I really can't stand Duan Yi's arrogance either. Although I think you might not have much hope, I still hope you don't lose too badly."
Huo Feng smiled at Duan Ya and said, "Just watch." Then he also flashed onto the Training Arena.
"How about it? Do you need some time to prepare and relax?" As soon as he got up there, Huo Feng took on a strong posture as if he were certain of victory over Duan Yi.
Duan Yi had never encountered anyone daring enough to talk back to him in Xiaoyao Fortress, so he was momentarily speechless in response to Huo Feng's words. His face turned red with anger as he clenched his fists tightly, making his joints crackle as he said in a deep voice, "Stop talking nonsense; let me help you shut that mouth of yours."
Suddenly, yellow Origin Force surged from Duan Yi's body. He brought his palms together in front of his chest as yellow Origin Force flowed into his hands and disappeared from view. However, Huo Feng could sense a terrifying power rapidly compressing and gathering within his palms.
Huo Feng did not dare to be careless; after all, this was his first battle against an opponent on equal footing since arriving in this realm. Thus, Huo Feng transformed into Azure Blue Flames, obscuring his appearance completely as he charged recklessly towards Duan Yi.
Duan Yi wore a satisfied smile at the corners of his mouth. He was afraid that Huo Feng would dodge or use other Combat Techniques to resist, but he did not expect Huo Feng to have such a lack of combat awareness, charging in with his body to prepare for close combat.
Just as Huo Feng rushed in to throw a punch at Duan Yi, Duan Yi's palms suddenly erupted with a powerful yellow Origin Force glow.
"Great Luo Divider!"
"Die!" Duan Yi shouted arrogantly.
Huo Feng initially thought that Duan Yi was using the Combat Technique "Great Luo Annihilation Palm" employed by Duan Huan, but it turned out not to be the case. Instead, a yellow Origin Force wave shot out from the seam formed by the combination of his palms, extending directly toward the center of Huo Feng's body.
Huo Feng's body was instantly split in two; however, the right half of his body continued to charge forward and threw a punch at Duan Yi's chest. Duan Yi did not expect that Huo Feng, despite being cut in half, would still maintain the momentum of his attack. Caught off guard, Duan Yi had no choice but to raise his hand to block the punch.
Duan Yi was immediately sent flying backward. Due to the lack of time to mobilize enough Origin Force for defense, blood appeared at the corner of his mouth. He touched his wrist, which felt somewhat numb from the impact, and looked incredulously at Huo Feng's body split in two.
However, he strangely noticed that although Huo Feng's body had been cleaved in half, both halves were still standing there, surrounded by Azure Blue Flames, obscuring their appearance. What puzzled him even more was that there was not a single drop of blood to be seen.
In an instant, Huo Feng's split blue body began to become ethereal, gradually transforming into countless silver-white star-like points of light drifting toward the back of Duan Yi.
