Star Dragon God
As Zhou Xing began to control the remnants of Xiao Yuan, Huo Feng recalled the words of the Seven Heart Spirit Body. He approached Xiao Yuan's corpse, where the Thousand Illusion Divine Monkey had already detached from Xiao Yuan's body and was lying weakly beside him.
With Xiao Yuan dead, the Thousand Illusion Divine Monkey was doomed as well; it had completely lost its Origin Force. Seeing Huo Feng looking at it, it glared back fiercely, but could do nothing. Suddenly, two points of light fused with Star Spirit Fragment at Huo Feng's forehead and chest began to glow brightly, shooting out two beams of Silver Radiance directly into the chest of the Thousand Illusion Divine Monkey, causing it to scream in pain.
Moments later, a silvery light appeared on the monkey's chest, gradually revealing a silver orb that Huo Feng slowly extracted. He reached out to grab the orb, feeling its powerful aura and becoming extremely excited.
At this moment, members of the Wanmu Family looked at Huo Feng in astonishment. Zhou Xing quickly approached him, excitedly saying, "Yes, this is indeed the soul of the Soul of the Tree Heart. Brother Huo Feng, how did you manage to do this?"
Seeing Zhou Xing's excited expression, Huo Feng felt a headache coming on, wondering how to explain this to them. Naturally, he intended to absorb the Star Spirit Fragment for himself.
After some thought, Huo Feng said, "Chief Zhou, actually my cultivation method requires this item. You should have sensed that I have something similar at my forehead and chest. I am not coveting your treasures from Treeheart City, but this is indeed part of a legacy I received..."
Huo Feng paused, unsure how to continue. After all, this was something that had always been regarded as their treasure by Zhou Xing and his people. He looked at Zhou Xing with conflicting emotions.
Upon hearing this from Huo Feng, Zhou Xing lost his earlier excitement and instead looked at him with a strange expression. He then turned away, pacing back and forth with his head down.
At that moment, the atmosphere felt as if it had come to a standstill; only Zhou Xing was pacing while everyone else remained still, watching him in silence and anticipation for his decision. Some even cast hostile glances at Huo Feng.
This state lasted for a full fifteen minutes before Zhou Xing, as if having made a significant decision, approached Huo Feng. He took one last reluctant look at the Star Spirit Fragment in his hand before turning his gaze back to him and said, "I believe what you say is true. However, we are indeed reluctant to part with it since it concerns the future survival and status of our Treeheart City. But without you, our Wanmu Family might not survive here. So you can take it; consider it my first step in repaying your kindness."
When he heard this, Huo Feng felt somewhat nervous at first. Although he wasn't afraid of them, he didn't want to resort to killing for this item; after all, he didn't want to become a devil who kills indiscriminately for his goals. So when Zhou Xing finished speaking, he let out a sigh of relief and smiled, saying, "Thank you for your trust. Once I return with you to Treeheart City, I will give you a great gift. While it may not compare to this one, it will definitely be of great help."
"Hahaha... that would be wonderful! Then I'll head back now; after all, I've just taken over and have many matters to attend to," said Zhou Xing, who was straightforward by nature. Since he had made a decision, there was no need for lingering sadness.
...
Following along with the group led by Zhou Xing, Huo Feng arrived at Treeheart City. Upon reaching there, he was completely astonished; the entire city was formed from a massive tree that dwarfed even the largest trees in the Pocket Tribe. Its branches were lush and hung down to the ground, resembling a towering green mountain forest from afar.
Initially thinking it was a mountain, Huo Feng soon realized something was strange as he got closer; he could only see green leaves everywhere—nothing else was visible. There were no paths or signs of human presence.
At that moment, some individuals who had just sided with Zhou Xing stepped forward and bowed slightly, saying, "City Lord, let me clear a path for you."
"No, I will clear the path myself," replied Zhou Xing, his tone tinged with some sadness.
At this moment, Zhou Xing closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and then Origin Force appeared in his hands as he silently chanted something. Suddenly, Zhou Xing extended his index fingers, and the Origin Force flowed out along them. He then traced a strange symbol in front of him with his finger, and as soon as the symbol appeared, it quickly shot towards the green leaves above.
A large door-shaped light, three meters high and two meters wide, illuminated the leaves, with the symbol at its center. At this moment, two finger-sized dots could be seen above the symbol. Zhou Xing extended his two index fingers towards those dots and gently turned them. Instantly, the green door magically opened.
Zhou Xing was the first to step inside, followed closely by Huo Feng and the others. Once inside, Huo Feng realized that they were indeed within a giant tree, with extremely thick branches. The houses here were built on this great tree, similar to those in Wanmuzhen, with only a doorway opening on the trunk.
However, as soon as they entered, many people rushed forward. One person stepped out and said to Xiao Yuan and those controlled by Zhou Xing, "You have such audacity to betray the city lord and bring our enemies here."
He then turned to the people behind him and commanded, "Everyone follow me to subdue them."
Just as he was about to turn around and charge into battle, three Origin Force wooden swords pierced through his body from behind. These three were the highest-ranking members of Xiao Yuan's previous faction. After killing this man, they addressed the others: "Xiao Yuan and the Four Elders are dead. The current city lord is Zhou Xing, the head of the Wanmu Family. I advise everyone to abandon darkness for light and kneel before our new city lord; otherwise, there will be no mercy."
The crowd immediately knelt down and shouted in unison, "We pay our respects to the new city lord."
This was a chorus of at least a thousand voices that instantly attracted everyone in Treeheart City. At that moment, young and old alike came out of their homes to kneel in reverence.
Zhou Xing raised his voice and said, "Thank you all for continuing to support my Wanmu Family. I hope everyone can work together in unity to strengthen Treeheart City."
"United we stand, strengthen Treeheart City."
"United we stand, strengthen Treeheart City."
Amidst this continuous chanting, Zhou Xing called out more than ten people to accompany him and Zhou Wu through the central doorway where the uncle was located; Huo Feng was also among them. At this moment, Huo Feng suddenly thought of a question and asked, "Lord Zhou—oh! No, I should now call you City Lord Zhou—may I ask you a question? Does entering Treeheart City require performing what you just did?"
Zhou Xing smiled as he walked and replied, "How could that be? That would be unnecessary; whether or not there is that door doesn't matter at all. In fact, that door is usually not closed; it only closes during emergencies or after several important missions have left the city."
"I see," Huo Feng nodded in understanding.
Soon they entered the interior of the giant tree; it was as bustling as the houses in Xiaoyao Fortress and had many levels. Huo Feng guessed that this place must belong to the Treeheart City Ruler and his important subordinates for living and discussing matters.
After entering, Zhou Xing skillfully made his way directly to the second floor. This second floor was a grand hall with an imposing Beast-shaped Throne carved from the wood inside the tree at its front. On either side of it were ten seats.
At this moment, Zhou Xing walked directly to the throne at the front and sat down. He reached out to touch it; tears unexpectedly fell from his eyes as he softly murmured, "Father, I never expected to achieve this in my lifetime. Could it be that Brother Huo Feng has come here just to assist us?"
After a moment of reflection, Zhou Xing's expression became serious as he said, "Zhou Zhouyun, you two take Wu Er to the third floor to rest. Zhou Xingfu and Cold Army, you two go and bring me the leaders of all the remaining Xiao Yuan factions in the city."
"Yes, City Lord."
The subordinates promptly took their orders to carry out Zhou Xing's instructions. At this moment, Zhou Xing stepped down from his position and approached Huo Feng, saying, "Brother Huo Feng, I wonder if you would be willing to join us at Treeheart City. You wouldn't have to take orders from anyone, not even me, but you could freely utilize the power of Treeheart City."
Huo Feng smiled slightly and replied, "Thank you for your kindness, City Lord Zhou. However, I am used to a leisurely life and am not suited for this kind of existence. Moreover, I have already joined the Free Alliance, and Zhao Alliance Leader from the Free Alliance is my mentor, so I must decline."
"Hahaha... No problem! It was my oversight. With your personality, you are indeed more suited for the Free Alliance. I won't insist," Zhou Xing laughed heartily.
At this moment, Huo Feng was eager to find a place to absorb the Star Spirit Fragment. He said, "City Lord Zhou, we are at a critical juncture now; you don't need to worry about me. I'm quite interested in the structure within Treeheart City, so I'll just go explore on my own."
Zhou Xing indeed couldn't spare time to look after Huo Feng. After hearing his words, he said to Huo Feng, "Alright, go ahead and explore. It will also help you gather information about your friend. Once I'm done with my tasks, I will do my best to assist you in finding out more."
With that, Huo Feng left the treehouse and flew directly towards the highest point of the area. He flew several thousand meters high until he reached a place shrouded in mist where no one lived and there were no buildings.
Huo Feng found a relatively stable branch to sit on and took out the Star Spirit Fragment from his Narcissistic Ring. He began to cultivate there while waiting for nightfall to start absorbing the Star Spirit Fragment.
