The sudden voice of Red Cloud surprised Ye Chuanze, and what puzzled him even more was that Hongjun had actually given the last piece of the Saintly foundation, the Primordial Purple Qi, to Red Cloud. This must have significant meaning; based on Ye Chuanze's understanding of Hongjun, he was likely plotting something. After thinking it over for a while, Ye Chuanze realized Hongjun's intention: he wanted Red Cloud to be the scapegoat, drawing the hatred of others.
The temptation of becoming a Saint was indeed too great, and it was not unlikely that some immortals would take risks and directly seize the Primordial Purple Qi from others, leading to a bloody storm. Throughout history, possessing treasures has often led to disaster. The Three Pure Ones, Jieyin, Zhun Ti, and Nuwa were all disciples of Hongjun; even if others wanted to snatch their Primordial Purple Qi, they would hesitate to act against them. However, Red Cloud was different; he was not a disciple of Hongjun and his strength was average among the immortals. Once he obtained that piece of Primordial Purple Qi, others would naturally choose to target him—after all, it is easier to pick soft persimmons.
Having figured out the intricacies, Ye Chuanze couldn't help but sigh. He didn't know whether Red Cloud's actions would bring fortune or misfortune. Obtaining a piece of Primordial Purple Qi was indeed the key to becoming a Saint. If he had the opportunity in the future to achieve the Supreme Saint Position, it would be a great fortune. However, he also faced the covetousness of other immortals and was in a perilous situation. Fortune and misfortune are intertwined; it all depended on one's own fate!
Ye Chuanze slightly tilted his head and saw Di Jun's inscrutable expression, with a hint of ruthlessness in his eyes. He shook his head inwardly; what a pity! If Di Jun had obtained that Primordial Purple Qi instead of Red Cloud, it was likely that there would be another Sage among the Primordials. Di Jun's temperament and strength far surpassed that of Red Cloud. Given Red Cloud's nature, Ye Chuanze felt that his ultimate fate would probably not end well.
Thinking of this, Ye Chuanze couldn't help but recall another person—Red Cloud's close friend, Zhen Yuanzi. Zhen Yuanzi shared a deep bond with Red Cloud; now that Red Cloud had attracted such a tremendous crisis, Zhen Yuanzi must be very worried and anxious. He looked up at Zhen Yuanzi sitting beside Red Cloud and saw him frowning deeply with an ugly expression on his face. In contrast, Red Cloud appeared overjoyed, seemingly immersed in the ecstasy of having obtained a strand of Primordial Purple Qi.
At this moment, Ye Chuanze found himself lacking even the strength to sigh. Red Cloud’s optimism seemed excessive—or perhaps he was simply oblivious; didn’t he see the predatory gazes from Di Jun and Kunpeng? If one were to rejoice, it should be after becoming a Saint! For now, preserving one's life should be the priority!
Hongjun sat at the top position and scanned all the immortals before retracting his gaze and speaking to Laozi: "The path to becoming a Saint is elusive; opportunities can be encountered but cannot be sought after. I bestow upon you a treasure—the Taiji Diagram. This treasure can suppress fate and stabilize earth fire wind water."
Laozi accepted the treasure and said, "Disciple thanks Master."
Hongjun then addressed Primordial: "I bestow upon you the Pangu Banner. This treasure can suppress fate; its power is so great that it can split heaven and earth."
Primordial received the treasure respectfully saying, "Disciple thanks Master."
Hongjun looked at Sky-Connecting; his gaze paused for a moment before saying: "You have a strong-willed and combative nature; thus I bestow upon you Exterminate Immortals, Trap Immortal, Slay Immortals, Four Swords of Absolute Extermination, and Zhu Xian Formation Diagram. The Four Swords of Extermination focus on killing; when combined with Zhu Xian Formation Diagram, they cannot be broken by four Saints."
As soon as Hongjun finished speaking, there was an uproar among the immortals.
The Exterminate Immortals formation—just hearing its name sent chills down their spines. Moreover, it could only be broken by four Saints. Among the Seven Saints of Xuanmen—excluding Hongjun—three were from the Three Pure Ones who accounted for half. The Three Pure Ones had always been closely bonded as brothers and would naturally not act against their own kin. Thus, how could there be four Saints to break the Exterminate Immortals formation? It seemed that in the future… Primordial would likely become someone whom the Three Pure Ones could not provoke. Each immortal had their own calculations in mind as they secretly speculated about Primordial's future trajectory.
Ye Chuanze was initially shocked by the power of the Four Swords of Extermination, but soon realized that it was only impressive in combat. His Taiji Diagram and the Primordial Pangu Banner were both powerful and could suppress fortune. However, the Sky-Connecting Four Swords of Extermination, as mentioned by Hongjun, did not have such a function, suggesting it could not suppress fortune.
Fortune is akin to Merit; it acts as an external boost. For instance, a person with good fortune might have treasures fall from the sky while walking, whereas someone with poor fortune would see their hard-earned treasures end up in someone else's hands. In short, fortune is a beneficial thing, a definite external advantage. The saying "when one's fortune is exhausted" refers to a person's impending death or a nation's downfall, highlighting the importance of fortune.
Both Laozi and the Primordial treasures possess the ability to suppress fortune, while the Sky-Connecting Four Swords of Extermination cannot. Although there are many Primordial Spiritual Treasures, only a few can suppress fortune, such as Taiyi's Eastern Emperor Bell.
Sky-Connecting happily accepted the Four Swords of Extermination and bowed to Hongjun, unable to hide his smile as he said, "Disciple thanks Master for bestowing this treasure!"
Hongjun glanced at him before turning to Nuwa and said, "I bestow upon you the Red Embroidery Ball and the Mountain and River National Map; one is for offense and the other for defense, complementing each other."
With Sky-Connecting's Four Swords of Extermination in front, Nuwa's Red Embroidery Ball and Mountain and River National Map seemed less impressive. She calmly accepted the treasures and thanked Hongjun.
Hongjun then gave Jieyin and Zhun Ti the Twelve-Grade Merit Golden Lotus and Empowered Divine Staff, completing the distribution of treasures.
Ye Chuanze watched enviously from the side; all these were Innate Spiritual Treasures! Each one was valuable. Although he possessed many treasures—having inherited a treasury from Rahul during his three hundred years at Purple Cloud Palace with Hongjun—no one would ever complain about having too many treasures. His principle had always been that more is better. Watching Hongjun distribute treasures to the Three Pure Ones made him feel envious.
At that moment, Hongjun suddenly looked at him. Seeing Ye Chuanze's greedy expression made him chuckle inwardly as he said, " Ye Chuanze, you are also my direct disciple; today’s treasure distribution will not exclude you."
Ye Chuanze's expression brightened at these words, and he replied joyfully, "Disciple knew Master would not forget me!"
Hongjun couldn't help but smile slightly as he said, "You have just recently transformed and do not yet have a Cave; I will grant you one. The Cave contains hidden treasures and has strong defenses against external harm."
"Just one Cave?" Ye Chuanze's expression fell in disappointment. Why did the Three Pure Ones receive Innate Spiritual Treasures while he ended up with just a Cave?
Upon hearing this, Hongjun raised an eyebrow and asked, "What? You don't want it?"
Ye Chuanze quickly said, "Master, you have bestowed the Cave upon your disciple. I am delighted and couldn't possibly wish for more!" Having something is better than having nothing. Well then... now I can save the effort and materials needed to build a Cave.
Hongjun flipped his hand, and a delicate and compact pavilion appeared in his palm. He handed it to Ye Chuanze and said, "Don't say that I favor one over another; this Cave is also a fine treasure."
Ye Chuanze took the miniature Cave, holding it and looking around, completely unaware that those around him were gazing at him with pity.
At this moment, everyone realized that Hongjun's disciples were not just the Three Pure Ones, Jieyin, Zhun Ti, and Nüwa; there was also Ye Chuanze! Long ago, during the second sermon, Hongjun had acknowledged Ye Chuanze as his disciple, and a significant one at that. Now, among Hongjun's seven disciples, six had received the Primordial Purple Qi to attain the status of Sage, while only Ye Chuanze had not.
Moreover, Ye Chuanze was a direct disciple, while Nüwa, Jieyin, and Zhun Ti were merely registered disciples! If registered disciples could become Sages, how could a direct disciple fail? It seemed that being a direct disciple was less advantageous than being a registered one! If it were them in this situation, they would have surely left their master! This was simply too unfair! The other immortals who had previously harbored grievances about Hongjun's different treatment of Ye Chuanze instantly shifted to feeling sympathy for him.
The Primordial Immortals also looked down on Hongjun for giving Ye Chuanze a treasure. In their eyes, this was merely compensation for Ye Chuanze's inability to become a Sage. A mere treasure could not make up for the loss of the Sage position; they couldn't help but secretly scorn Hongjun for his immorality!
Ye Chuanze was oblivious to this; through an unexpected turn of events, he had gained the sympathy of the Primordial Immortals, reducing his hatred value by fifty percent.
Hongjun observed the expressions of the immortals and slightly lowered his gaze before speaking in a calm tone: "The Great Dao has fifty parts; Heaven has forty-nine. One must be relinquished. The Heavenly Dao is incomplete; I will merge with the Dao myself. From now on, I shall close the Purple Cloud Palace. Unless there is urgent business, do not disturb my tranquility."
Upon hearing this, the immortals were shocked; Hongjun intended to merge with the Dao!
Hongjun continued, "Outside the Purple Cloud Palace lies a Treasure Cliff with several treasures upon it. You may go take them as you wish!"
Hearing this, the immortals immediately sprang into action without regard for their earlier shock. They moved like lightning, leaving only fleeting shadows as they rushed toward the Treasure Cliff outside the Purple Cloud Palace. They were all eager to seize treasures—first come, first served!
Ye Chuanze's movements were slightly delayed because just as he stood up to leave, Hongjun transmitted a message to him: "After you have taken your treasures, return to the Purple Cloud Palace."
Red Cloud had originally intended to head to Treasure Cliff as well, but Zhen Yuanzi stopped him with a furrowed brow and said, "Return to Wuzhuang Temple."
"Let's go to Treasure Cliff to get the treasure before heading back," Red Cloud said.
However, Zhen Yuanzi ignored him and forcefully pulled him away, flying straight towards Wuzhuang Temple without looking back.
Red Cloud felt a bit annoyed and said with a hint of anger, "Let go of me! What are you trying to do?"
Zhen Yuanzi remained silent, only continuing to drag him towards Wuzhuang Temple.
Upon arriving at Wuzhuang Temple, Zhen Yuanzi pulled Red Cloud inside and then turned to him with a serious expression, saying in a deep voice, "From today onwards, you will stay at Wuzhuang Temple. You are not allowed to leave until you become a Saint!"
Hearing this, Red Cloud was instantly speechless. The words he had wanted to scold Zhen Yuanzi with were stuck in his throat. Zhen Yuanzi… Zhen Yuanzi had actually been pushed to this extent! The usually calm and composed Zhen Yuanzi, who rarely got angry, was now forced into such a state!
With a long sigh, Red Cloud said, "I understand. I will listen to you…"
