The silver moon hung high, with stars twinkling.
Ye Chuanze changed into a white robe, preparing to rest. At his level of cultivation, sleep was no longer a physiological necessity but merely a mental respite for relaxation. After all, even immortals need to unwind and take breaks from their training. Stretching out comfortably on a soft couch was a good way to rest. Although many immortals preferred to meditate for relaxation, Ye Chuanze favored lying down on the bed.
Just as he was about to rest, a young attendant came to report.
"Daoist Fuxi has come to visit," said Qingshan Boy.
Ye Chuanze paused slightly; why would he come at such a late hour?
"Please let him in," Ye Chuanze replied.
Dressed only in his white robe, Ye Chuanze sat at a stone table in the courtyard, waiting for Fuxi. The silver moonlight draped over him like a thin veil, softening his features under its glow, yet his expression remained cool and stern.
After a moment, Fuxi approached, carrying two jars of wine. Walking in the moonlight, Fuxi's white attire made him appear even more gentle and elegant, with dark hair and striking looks.
"What brings you here?" Ye Chuanze asked as he looked up at him.
Fuxi smiled warmly and raised one of the jars he was holding. "As we agreed back then, once you transformed, I would bring out this brewed fruit wine to celebrate."
Ye Chuanze took the jar from him and said, "You still remember?"
"How could I forget?"
"Ah... your memory is quite good."
Ye Chuanze uncorked the jar and tilted it back to drink deeply. With several gulps, strong liquor flowed into his stomach, some spilling from the corners of his lips and dripping onto his robe. Before long, a patch on his chest was soaked. The damp fabric clung to his skin, revealing a large area of flesh without concealment.
Fuxi glanced at Ye Chuanze's bold drinking style without any disdain. He casually sat beside him, mimicking his actions and raised the jar to drink as well. After swallowing a large mouthful of wine, Fuxi asked, "Do you harbor any resentment in your heart?"
"Why do you say that?"
After a pause, Fuxi said, "Do you resent Hongjun Daoist for being unfair?"
It turned out this was about the current situation. Ye Chuanze chuckled lightly and replied nonchalantly, "What is there to resent? The position of Sage has long been predetermined, and I simply do not fall within that fate. The Saint Position has never been destined for me; why should I force it?"
This statement was about himself and served as a reminder to others.
Ye Chuanze tilted his head back and took a swig of wine, calling out, "Fuxi, do you desire that Saint Position?"
After a moment of silent contemplation, Fuxi's voice gently broke the quiet, "The supreme position of Sage is surely irresistible to anyone. But as you said, everything has its own fate; there is no need to force it."
Ye Chuanze looked at him with some surprise, chuckling softly as he said, "It's good that you can think this way."
The Sage Position had once been within reach for Di Jun, Kunpeng, and Fuxi, yet they all ultimately missed it. Di Jun was unwilling to accept this and would likely stir up trouble in the future. Kunpeng felt similarly. As for Fuxi, Ye Chuanze did not want him to get involved in this murky water. The Sage Position was ultimately destined by heaven. The Primordial Purple Qi in Red Cloud's hands was merely a lure to attract the attention of the immortals.
Fuxi took several more sips of wine and sighed deeply, saying, "Being able to drink with you like this is one of life's great pleasures. When there is wine, we should drink; why cling bitterly to that elusive and unknown Sage Position?"
"Exactly! Whoever wants to be Sage can go ahead; we’ll just drink!"
Time passed without them noticing, and both were slightly tipsy when Fuxi softly said, "If I could keep drinking with you like this, that would be wonderful."
"Heh..." With a light laugh, Ye Chuanze reclined against the stone table and replied, "What's so difficult about that? Whenever you want to drink in the future, just come find me; I will never leave."
Although Fuxi did not speak further, Ye Chuanze understood his meaning. Nüwa had obtained the opportunity to become a saint and would inevitably drift further away from him. Fuxi felt a deep sense of melancholy. Not to mention anything else, just returning from Purple Cloud Palace, Nüwa immediately entered seclusion to comprehend the path to sainthood. Although it was better to become a saint as soon as possible to avoid complications—Fuxi understood this—he still found it hard to let go.
"Nüwa... owes me a jar of wine; I will remember this and make sure to collect it from her later!" Ye Chuanze declared.
Fuxi remained silent in response, simply continuing to drink.
Ye Chuanze tilted his head slightly and glanced at Fuxi's expression, sighing inwardly. He raised the wine jar and took another sip while gazing up at the bright moonlight, feeling a sense of clarity within his heart.
During Hongjun's last sermon, the Dao Laws he spoke of were too profound and esoteric. Many of these Dao Laws surpassed the current cultivation levels of the Primordial Immortals, leaving them unable to comprehend much. As a result, this time, Ye Chuanze and Fuxi spent only a short time in seclusion, as there was nothing for them to ponder. Fuxi emerged from his retreat early, frequently seeking out Ye Chuanze to discuss Dao and drink, living quite comfortably. Meanwhile, Nuwa remained in seclusion, desperately searching for the path to sainthood but to no avail.
One day, Nuwa emerged from her retreat.
Seeing her frustrated and displeased expression, Ye Chuanze realized that she had not gained anything during her seclusion, which was expected; attaining the Sage position is not something that can be easily achieved through mere years of isolation.
Fuxi spoke up to comfort her: "Did not Hongjun Daoist say that becoming a saint relies on opportunity? It seems your opportunity has yet to arrive. Do not rush; when the time comes, you will naturally succeed."
Nuwa glanced at Fuxi upon hearing this. Although her expression remained troubled, she nodded and said, "What brother says is true; I am not in a hurry."
Ye Chuanze sighed inwardly as he watched. Nuwa's opportunity for sainthood lies in creating life. To achieve sainthood through Merit requires immense Merit; without it, even if she sat in her Cave for ages, she would not become a Sage. Ye Chuanze understood the key to Nuwa's attainment but was reluctant to tell her. He still harbored some fear of the Heavenly Dao and did not dare speak too freely, worried that he might disturb the heavenly secrets and be marked by the Dao. Regardless of whether he spoke or remained silent, Nuwa would eventually create life; it was merely a matter of time.
After some thought, Ye Chuanze subtly hinted to Nuwa, "My master once said that Nuwa is a person of great Merit; it seems that achieving sainthood is ultimately related to this Merit."
Upon hearing this, Nuwa's eyes brightened but quickly dimmed again. "Achieving sainthood through Merit is ultimately not the best approach."
Among the three methods of attaining sainthood, achieving it through Merit is considered the least favorable; Sages who attain their status through Merit also possess the weakest abilities. Thus, Nuwa expressed her reluctance to achieve the Saint Position through Merit. Not just her; the Three Pure Ones, Jieyin, and Zhun Ti felt similarly. No one wished to be the weakest among them.
Ye Chuanze secretly scoffed at this remark, thinking it was unavoidable. No matter how much she despised it in her heart, she would ultimately have to rely on Merit for sainthood. "As long as one can become a saint, that is good enough; why bother worrying about so much?" Ye Chuanze could only say this.
Nuwa looked up at him thoughtfully and finally sighed, "Let me think about it some more." Unless she reached a point of desperation, she remained unwilling to rely on Merit for sainthood.
Seeing her response, Ye Chuanze chose not to say more; after all, he had said what he needed to say and had done his part. The rest was up to her.
Suddenly, a powerful surge of spiritual energy erupted from beneath Buzhou Mountain.
Ye Chuanze, Fuxi, and Nuwa all sensed this strong burst of spiritual energy. Ye Chuanze frowned and said, "Such strong spiritual energy must indicate that some treasure has emerged; let us go take a look."
Fuxi and Nuwa nodded in agreement upon hearing this, and the three headed toward the source of the spiritual energy.
When they arrived at the location where the spiritual energy was emanating from at the foot of Buzhou Mountain, they found that they were not alone; the Three Pure Ones, Di Jun, and Taiyi had also arrived one after another. Upon seeing them, Ye Chuanze couldn't help but twitch his face—why did these people always appear no matter when? Ye Chuanze silently shouted in his heart that their presence was already strong enough without needing to assert themselves further!
No matter what he thought in his heart, he remained expressionless on the surface, revealing not a hint of his inner emotions. He called out to the Three Pure Ones, "It's been a while, brothers. How have you been lately?"
"Good," Laozi replied succinctly, unwilling to say more than a word.
"Very good," said Primordial, adding one more word than Laozi.
"How have you been lately, Brother Ye?" Sky-Connecting looked at Ye Chuanze and said with a smile.
Indeed, Sky-Connecting was the more likable brother. Ye Chuanze silently gave Sky-Connecting a thumbs up in his heart and then added Laozi and Primordial to his blacklist. Having the previous examples of Laozi and Primordial as negative cases, Ye Chuanze's attitude towards Sky-Connecting was quite amiable, and he spoke in a friendly tone, "Thank you for your concern, Brother Sky-Connecting. I'm doing well."
On the side, Di Jun, who had been neglected for a long time, became dissatisfied. He began to assert his presence and said, " Mr. Ye, don't just focus on the Three Pure Ones and ignore us."
Hearing this, Ye Chuanze looked up and saw him. With a smile, he said, "Oh, it's you, Di Jun. What brings you here? I thought at this time you would be with Xi He, inseparable."
"…"
Di Jun, who had always been met with Xi He's cold and distant attitude, felt a pang in his knee. He started to lose interest in talking to Ye Chuanze.
" Mr. Ye is joking," Taiyi interjected. He wore a gentle smile that made people feel as if they were basking in spring sunshine; however, Ye Chuanze felt that the spring breeze was rather chilly.
"My brother has always been free-spirited; even Xi He cannot change his nature," Taiyi said gently.
This statement carried deep meaning and was hard to decipher. Ye Chuanze pondered for a long time before finally understanding what Taiyi meant: Di Jun was unrestrained and that a mere Xi He could not satisfy his ambitions for seeking wildflowers elsewhere. Well... that was about the gist of it.
" Mr. Ye, judging by your expression, it seems you're thinking of something unpleasant," Taiyi observed as he squinted at him.
Ye Chuanze immediately composed himself and secretly erased any impure thoughts from his mind; he must not let Di Jun or Taiyi know about these ideas, or it would lead to a major conflict. He straightened his face and said with righteous indignation, "Taiyi, it seems you've misunderstood something; I haven't thought of anything at all."
Upon hearing this, Taiyi maintained eye contact with him, his expression still calm and gentle.
Just then, a voice suddenly came from afar, "Why are you all gathered here today?"
Hearing the sound, everyone turned around and looked. After seeing clearly who the person was, Ye Chuanze only had one thought left in his mind, damn! How could it be him! Hongyun Daoist in a crimson robe approached everyone with a smile on his face and said: "Long time no see! Fellow Taoists." Ye Chuanze was expressionless when he heard this, he could no longer look directly at Red Cloud, I have never seen someone so eager to seek death! At this time, shouldn't he be hiding in the Cave? Did he think he couldn't die quickly enough? "RedCloudfellow Taoist, long time no see!" The speaker was Di Jun, and he could be seen staring at RedCloud with an obscure expression on his face.
