Zhen Yuanzi went out to visit friends, leaving Red Cloud alone at Wuzhuang Temple. The Primordial Immortals heard the news and focused their attention on Wuzhuang Temple, secretly plotting to seize the strand of Primordial Purple Qi in Red Cloud's possession. Among them were Ye Chuanze and Nüwa, who quietly arrived outside Wuzhuang Temple without Fuxi's knowledge.
In the clouds, Nüwa gazed at Wuzhuang Temple in the Lower Realm and frowned, saying, "If Red Cloud does not leave Wuzhuang Temple, how can we take action?"
Ye Chuanze smiled and replied, "Don't worry, someone will help us draw him out soon."
Upon hearing this, Nüwa glanced at him, her eyes shifting as she understood his meaning.
Meanwhile, inside Wuzhuang Temple, with Zhen Yuanzi away, Red Cloud remained alone within the observation area. At first, he was patient and stayed put in Wuzhuang Temple. However, as time passed, he grew increasingly bored. He began to contemplate whether he should go out for a stroll. This thought flashed through his mind but was quickly suppressed. Zhen Yuanzi had repeatedly instructed him not to leave Wuzhuang Temple, and he had promised to comply. Remembering this, he restrained his restless thoughts and continued to sit quietly in the courtyard drinking wine.
He was not an ungrateful person; he understood Zhen Yuanzi's good intentions and care for him. He also knew that many immortals coveted the Primordial Purple Qi in his possession, so it was best for him not to venture out carelessly at this time. He was aware of all this but had confidence in himself; he was not weak or incompetent. If someone were to come after him to snatch the Primordial Purple Qi from him, he would be ready to fight back. Even if he couldn't win, he could escape quickly. Red Cloud had never been one to shy away from trouble. If he lost his original intention due to possessing a precious treasure and lived in fear like a snake or a rat hiding away, then it would be better for him not to have that treasure at all!
Red Cloud sat alone under the Ginseng Fruit Tree. The tall Ginseng Fruit Tree was lush and leafy, blocking out the blue sky above and casting a cool shade below. He downed a cup of wine and looked up at the towering tree, feeling a sense of peace within him. His friend Zhen Yuanzi was originally a Ginseng Fruit Tree that had attained immortality; with a nature akin to plants, he was gentle and sincere towards others.
Several hours passed without any movement from Wuzhuang Temple in the Lower Realm. Ye Chuanze and Nüwa remained patient outside. They were not the only ones feeling anxious; it was now a test of patience to see who would crack first and take action.
Another hour went by when suddenly a strong wave of spiritual energy emanated from a mountain peak directly east of Wuzhuang Temple.
Ye Chuanze and Nüwa noticed this surge of spiritual energy and looked up towards the mountain peak. Ye Chuanze smirked slightly, revealing a meaningful smile. "This surge of spiritual energy must indicate that a Spiritual Treasure has emerged."
Nüwa understood his implication and smiled back, saying, "The timing for this Spiritual Treasure's emergence is just right."
Ye Chuanze merely smiled without speaking further; both he and Nüwa understood that there must be something unusual about this surge of spiritual energy, but it wasn't their primary concern. As long as they could achieve their goal in the end, they didn't mind these minor details.
Back inside Wuzhuang Temple, Red Cloud, who was idly drinking wine out of boredom, also sensed the wave of spiritual energy. Such powerful spiritual energy surely indicated that a rare Spiritual Treasure had appeared. Feeling stirred within, Red Cloud could no longer sit still. After hesitating for a moment, he thought that since the location of this Spiritual Treasure was on a mountain not far from Wuzhuang Temple, he could go take a look and return quickly without any issues.
When Ye Chuanze and Nüwa saw Red Cloud leave Wuzhuang Temple from above the clouds, they both smiled. They were worried that this fellow might hide away; now that he had come out, if he didn't hand over what they wanted, there would be no way for him to return!
Many immortals coveted the strand of Primordial Purple Qi in Red Cloud's possession but had yet to make a move due to their concerns about Zhen Yuanzi. It wasn't that they feared being unable to defeat Zhen Yuanzi or Red Cloud; just considering Di Jun and Taiyi together against them would give them significant odds of winning. Zhen Yuanzi's cultivation level was comparable to Di Jun's; thus their chances were even. However, Red Cloud would certainly not be able to match Taiyi's strength; he would only hinder his ally. This meant that Di Jun and Taiyi's combination would have an increased chance of victory over Zhen Yuanzi and Red Cloud.
This was theoretically based on combat power values; however, in reality, Zhen Yuanzi possessed the Earth Book. The Earth Book provided solid defense that was difficult to break through. Once combat truly commenced, as long as Zhen Yuanzi summoned the Earth Book and took shelter behind its defenses, the battle would reach a stalemate. In such circumstances, it would be difficult for anyone to gain an advantage over Zhen Yuanzi or Red Cloud.
Moreover, there was only one opportunity for action; once everyone made their move to seize the Primordial Purple Qi from Red Cloud and tore their faces apart with him, it would become an irreconcilable situation. If they failed on their first attempt and allowed him to escape, finding another opportunity would be challenging. Thus, the Primordial Immortals had been waiting patiently for the perfect moment to strike without alarming their target.
When Red Cloud left Wuzhuang Temple, Nuwa wanted to follow, but Ye Chuanze held her back and said, "There's no rush, let's wait a bit longer."
Nuwa glanced at him and temporarily restrained her actions.
Not long after Red Cloud departed, several Daoist figures appeared near Wuzhuang Temple and followed him.
Nuwa's expression darkened as she said, "This situation doesn't look good; it seems we have more competitors."
"Expected," Ye Chuanze replied. "The immortals who listened to the teachings with us in Purple Cloud Palace, as long as their cultivation is strong enough, who wouldn't be thinking about the Primordial Purple Qi in the hands of the one in red?"
Nuwa looked at him with an ambiguous expression and asked, "What about you? Aren't you interested?"
Ye Chuanze chuckled lightly and said, "I truly am not interested. What is meant to be yours will come to you; what is not meant to be yours cannot be forced." His words seemed to carry a deeper meaning as he looked at her with a significant gaze.
Hearing this, Nuwa's expression darkened further as she replied, "How can you know it's not yours if you don't fight for it?"
Ye Chuanze shook his head with a smile and ceased his persuasion. At this moment, Nuwa still did not understand that fate can be difficult to contend with; she would come to realize that later. Fate is ultimately hard to contend with. He changed the subject and said, "Alright, it's about time; let's go after them."
By the time they arrived, a battle had already broken out.
Red Cloud was injured, blood at the corner of his mouth, his clothes torn, and his white jade crown knocked off his head, leaving his hair disheveled and cascading down. He looked extremely disheveled. Di Jun, Taiyi, Kunpeng, and Minghe Old Ancestor each wielded weapons and surrounded him. These individuals were not in much better shape; although they were not as disheveled as Red Cloud, they were also unstable in breath and had sustained injuries.
Red Cloud fought fiercely with all his might; even when outnumbered, he was still capable of putting up a fight. Although he couldn't take their lives, he was enough of a headache for them. Moreover, since the Primordial Purple Qi was still not in hand, everyone dared not strike too hard or go for the kill. With reservations in their hearts and holding back their strength, they found themselves at a stalemate with Red Cloud.
His face filled with anger as he suppressed his voice and said to the gathered immortals, "It's just a piece of Primordial Purple Qi! How can it bring you all together here to disregard your dignity and join forces against me? To bully the few with the many is not the act of a true man!"
"Red Cloud! If you hand over the Primordial Purple Qi today, I will spare your life," Di Jun said coldly.
"Hmph..." Red Cloud responded with a mocking laugh that turned icy. "Di Jun! How could you be so kind last time to give me that treasure? It turns out you had already plotted this! Today you're using that treasure to lure me out!"
Last time at the foot of Buzhou Mountain during the struggle for the Primordial Gourd, Di Jun had suddenly retreated to speak on behalf of Red Cloud, allowing him to obtain a Primordial Gourd. At that time, Ye Chuanze had mocked him for it. It turned out that Di Jun had been scheming from then on; today he set up a trap using the spiritual power of an Innate Spiritual Root disguised as signs of a Spiritual Treasure emerging to lure Red Cloud out of Wuzhuang Temple. This led to the current scene where all the immortals joined forces to besiege Red Cloud.
Di Jun coldly replied, "In the end, it's just your own greed that brought you here; otherwise, how would you have appeared in this place?"
"Ha ha!" Red Cloud laughed as if he had heard the greatest joke, saying, "You say I have greed in my heart, but aren't you the same? If you weren't coveting the Primordial Purple Qi in my hands, why would you set up this trap?"
"Stop talking nonsense! Hand over the Primordial Purple Qi," Di Jun said impatiently.
Red Cloud glanced at the people present and saw that Kunpeng and Minghe Old Ancestor both had cold expressions, standing silently beside him. Unlike Di Jun, who was aggressive and threatening, their weapons were sharp and their killing intent was no less than that of Di Jun. Red Cloud's heart gradually sank as he recalled the past when he had sat at the same table with these people, drinking and laughing together. Now they faced each other with weapons drawn, to the death!
Upon seeing Nüwa and Ye Chuanze, Red Cloud paused for a moment. He smiled at Ye Chuanze, though it was not a pleasant smile. He said, "Friend, you didn't come here today just for the Primordial Purple Qi in my hands, did you?"
Ye Chuanze looked at him expressionlessly and replied coldly, "The Primordial Purple Qi belongs to the capable. Red Cloud, you'd better be sensible and hand it over! As long as you give me the Primordial Purple Qi, I will ensure your safety."
Hearing this, Di Jun glanced at him.
Ye Chuanze had made a promise: if Red Cloud surrendered the Primordial Purple Qi, he would guarantee his life. However, everyone else present, except for him, intended to kill and seize treasures. They wanted the Primordial Purple Qi, and they also wanted Red Cloud's life! Because after this treasure snatching incident, Red Cloud had torn apart any pretense of friendship with them, creating an irreconcilable enmity. This hatred would not end until one side was dead; no one would let their enemy go free and risk future troubles.
Surprised by this statement, Red Cloud replied, "No need for that. Just because you think so doesn't mean others do." He then glanced at Di Jun and the others.
Di Jun coldly laughed and said, " Mr. Ye, you can see that your good intentions are not appreciated by anyone!"
It seemed that Ye Chuanze did not hear his words; he simply said to Red Cloud, "Have you thought it through? Is the Primordial Purple Qi more important than your life?"
