The next day, the Three Pure Ones indeed arrived early at the Buzhou Mountain Cloud Marsh Cave to seek out Ye Chuanze. Upon seeing the Three Pure Ones standing in the main hall, Ye Chuanze sighed helplessly and had no choice but to accompany them to the Purple Cloud Palace.
Hongjun sat on the Lotus Platform in the Meditation Room, glanced at Ye Chuanze, and then turned his gaze to the Three Pure Ones, speaking in a calm tone, "What brings you here?"
Primordial observed Hongjun's expression closely. Seeing his calm demeanor and indifferent face, it seemed there was no change compared to before. After pondering for a moment, he said, "I have come today to seek guidance from my master. Where can we find the opportunity to become saints?"
Upon hearing this, Hongjun's expression remained neutral as he replied without raising his eyelids, "When the time comes, the opportunity will arrive."
"Please guide us, Master," Primordial said again, lowering his head.
Since obtaining the Primordial Purple Qi, the Three Pure Ones had been in seclusion for cultivation. Their skills had greatly improved as they severed their Good and Evil Three Corpses. Now they had reached the peak strength of Quasi-Saint but were unable to advance further and thus could not attain sainthood. Remaining unsanctified meant being like ants, possessing precious treasures yet being coveted and envied by others. Without strong power to back them up, Red Cloud served as a cautionary tale. Therefore, the Three Pure Ones came to the Purple Cloud Palace seeking Hongjun's guidance.
Primordial was usually aloof and rarely showed such persistence. Hongjun couldn't help but glance at him and said, "Opportunities rely on oneself; others cannot assist."
Hearing this, Primordial fell silent as Hongjun implied he would not reveal anything regarding becoming a saint.
Sky-Connecting couldn't hold back any longer and spoke up, "I naturally understand this principle. However, I am currently at a loss regarding opportunities for becoming a saint and feel helpless. I only seek my master's guidance to clear the fog in my heart."
Hongjun looked at him without responding.
Sky-Connecting secretly signaled Ye Chuanze with a glance and subtly tugged at his sleeve, indicating him to speak up.
At first, Ye Chuanze was taken aback by Sky-Connecting's gestures and didn't react until Sky-Connecting discreetly pulled at his sleeve. He then realized what was meant. Considering that the Three Pure Ones had treated him well, he thought it would be easy enough to help them out since it was just a small effort. Thus, he looked at Hongjun and said, "I believe what Brother Sky-Connecting said is quite reasonable. Master, don’t you often say that being a teacher means imparting knowledge and resolving doubts? When disciples are confused and do not understand something, they should come to you for answers? Now that my three brothers have encountered confusion on their path to sainthood and have come seeking your guidance, they are merely following your teachings."
Upon hearing this, Hongjun glanced at him before turning back to the Three Pure Ones and coldly stated, "The opportunity for becoming a saint is not yet upon you. Your opportunities do not lie within the demon race, nor with the Witch Clan, nor within yourselves."
The Three Pure Ones were momentarily taken aback by Hongjun's words. What did he mean by that?
After a brief pause, the Three Pure Ones quickly regained their composure and said to Hongjun, "Disciple thanks Master for the guidance."
After a long while, as they exited the Purple Cloud Palace, Sky-Connecting said to Ye Chuanze, "Thanks to you just now."
"No need for that. I didn't really help much; Master is quite tight-lipped!" Ye Chuanze replied.
Nearby, Primordial turned his head to look at him, his expression cold and his voice consistently icy as he said, "That alone is enough. Thank you for today." Although Hongjun's words seemed to say nothing, they actually conveyed a lot, depending on one's understanding.
Even Laozi, who usually had a very low presence, spoke up, saying, "Brother Ye need not be modest. If it weren't for you today, Master likely wouldn't have revealed a single word."
Well... Ye Chuanze touched his nose upon hearing this and accepted their gratitude.
Standing outside the Purple Cloud Palace, Sky-Connecting said to Ye Chuanze, "We will return to Kunlun Mountain now. If you have time in the future, feel free to come to Kunlun Mountain for drinks and discussions."
"Since you say so, I won't be polite. You must have quite a stash of good wine!" Ye Chuanze laughed.
"If you come, I will definitely treat you with fine wines," Sky-Connecting replied.
"Then it's settled!" Ye Chuanze said in agreement.
"Farewell!"
Ye Chuanze stood still watching the figures of the Three Pure Ones depart. After a moment of hesitation, he also planned to leave. Just as he was about to do so, Haotian rushed over breathlessly and shouted loudly, "Brother Ye! I'm glad you haven't left; the Lord sent me to call you to see him."
Ye Chuanze paused in his steps and asked, "What does he want with me?"
"Master did not say, you should hurry and go meet him! Don't keep the Master waiting," Haotian said.
"Okay," Ye Chuanze nodded and followed him back into the Purple Cloud Palace.
Haotian led the way, with Ye Chuanze following him. As they passed through the side halls and corridors, Ye Chuanze felt increasingly uneasy and asked, "Where are you taking me?"
"Don't worry, we will be there soon," Haotian replied without answering his question.
After a long while, Ye Chuanze stood outside Han Baiyu's palace, twitching his mouth. He turned to Haotian and asked, "Is my Master inside?"
"Yes, the Master is inside," Haotian nodded.
"He wants me to go in and find him?"
"Yes, brother, please go in quickly!"
Ye Chuanze raised his hand to his forehead, feeling helpless. What was his Master thinking? If he wanted to summon him, he could have done so directly in the Meditation Room or even in the Purple Cloud Palace. Why choose to summon him in his own sleeping quarters? This was rather inappropriate.
He stood outside Hongjun's sleeping quarters for a long time while Haotian urged him to go in quickly so that Hongjun wouldn't wait too long. Finally, Ye Chuanze managed to calm his emotions and walked into Hongjun's sleeping quarters.
This was not Ye Chuanze's first visit to Hongjun's sleeping quarters. He still remembered that when he had just undergone tribulation and transformed, he had collapsed on the ground, completely drained of strength. It was Hongjun who had picked him up and carried him into this sleeping quarters, placing him on the intricately carved bed. During the time he was unconscious from exhausting all his magical power and energy, he had slept on that one bed in this sleeping quarters.
At that time, he hadn't noticed these details. Now thinking back, he had occupied the only bed in Hongjun's sleeping quarters; where did Hongjun sleep? Although he knew that sleep was not necessary for Hongjun, the presence of a bed indicated that he would also lie down to rest. Could it be that during that time, Hongjun never rested at all but instead sat cross-legged on the Lotus Platform with his eyes closed?
Considering Hongjun's nature, Ye Chuanze thought this was quite possible. Hongjun was the kind of immortal who could sit quietly with his eyes closed on the Lotus Platform for hundreds of years. The flowers outside bloomed and withered repeatedly, year after year. The Primordial beings did not keep track of time; cultivating immortality meant no concept of years passing—one could close their eyes and open them again only to find a century had gone by.
Thinking of this made Ye Chuanze's heart heavy, and his expression turned somber.
He walked into Hongjun's chamber, passing through the screen, and saw Hongjun lying languidly on the intricately carved bed in a purple robe. His silver hair cascaded down like the Milky Way, the robe spread out elegantly around him. His brows and eyes were cold and clear, yet his demeanor was relaxed.
Ye Chuanze was momentarily stunned; he had never seen Hongjun like this. No matter when, Hongjun's expression was always cool and indifferent, his posture dignified and graceful. It seemed he was perpetually unflappable, maintaining an air of noble aloofness. The lazy and alluring demeanor he displayed now was something Ye Chuanze could hardly imagine.
Hongjun's brows and eyes remained cold, his face even icier than usual, but the languid posture he held while lying on the bed added an extra layer of temptation to his handsome features, making his entire presence more enchanting.
"You've come," Hongjun said upon seeing him, then coldly added, "You sure are slow."
"…I was chatting with the three senior brothers for a while." In truth, he had deliberately delayed his steps; he was indeed reluctant to see Hongjun, feeling that being called alone by him while avoiding the Three Pure Ones could only mean trouble. Sure enough, as Ye Chuanze looked at Hongjun on the bed, he thought to himself that he was truly startled today.
Hongjun frowned at his words and asked, "How did you end up coming with them today?"
"Because I missed Master. I heard that the three senior brothers were coming to Purple Cloud Palace to visit Master today, so I came along with them." Ye Chuanze spoke these lies without changing his expression or skipping a heartbeat. He had gradually begun to understand some of Hongjun's thoughts and tailored his words to what he liked to hear.
Sure enough, after hearing this, Hongjun's furrowed brows relaxed.
Ye Chuanze continued to observe his expression and noticed that Hongjun seemed to be in a slightly better mood now that his brows had eased. He quickly took the opportunity to ask, "May I ask why Master called for me?"
Hongjun glanced at him and replied in a cold tone, "Come up."
"Ah!?" Ye Chuanze felt a jolt in his heart at those words; his heartbeat suddenly quickened violently. A hint of redness appeared on his face, and his ears turned completely red.
Seeing him frozen in place without responding, Hongjun frowned again and called out, "Come up."
"This... this isn't appropriate, is it?" Ye Chuanze said awkwardly. "I wouldn't dare overstep!"
He tried hard to calm his racing heart and maintain a normal expression but couldn't stop the heat rising within him. He felt as if his face was burning and his ears were scorching hot, as if he were being tormented by flames.
"Since I have summoned you, you should come up." Hongjun's tone turned cold as he noticed that he was taking too long to respond, seemingly very reluctant.
"Since it is the master's command, I have no choice but to obey, so... I will overstep." After saying this, he climbed onto Hongjun's bed with a complex mix of emotions, feeling both excited and unable to articulate his feelings.
Ye Chuanze climbed onto the bed and sat on the inner side, glancing around nervously without daring to look at Hongjun. He sensed something was off about Hongjun today—very off! He wondered to himself what was wrong with Hongjun and what had happened.
While he was lost in thought, he saw Hongjun get up, sitting on the bed with his back to him, starting to undress.
Ye Chuanze was shocked; he felt completely unwell. What... what is happening!? Was he still dreaming?
Hongjun, with his back to Ye Chuanze, moved calmly and slowly undressed without noticing the stunned disciple behind him.
