Ye Chuanze left the Purple Cloud Palace, his mood still fluctuating. Facing Hongjun, he seemed to realize something; a strange emotion that he had never felt before began to grow in his heart, yet it also felt like nothing at all—everything was just his illusion. He soared through the clouds, the refreshing autumn breeze brushing past his ears, dispersing the heat on his face, and the redness at the tips of his ears gradually faded.
Upon returning to Buzhou Mountain, Ye Chuanze descended from the clouds and walked towards the entrance of Yunze Cave. Qingshan was on guard outside and hurriedly approached him upon seeing his return. Ye Chuanze asked, "Has anyone come to visit today?"
"None," Qingshan replied.
Ye Chuanze nodded, asked a few more questions, and then entered the cave.
Ye Chuanze wore only a single garment, having thrown his outer robe to Hongjun. He frowned for a moment, instructing the attendant to prepare new clothes by the White Jade Pool in the side hall, as he planned to bathe and change. A thin layer of sweat covered him, and he felt uncomfortable inside.
The door to the side hall was tightly closed. The attendant placed the clothes by the White Jade Pool as instructed. Ye Chuanze removed his clothing, revealing his tall and strong physique, then stepped into the pool, submerging himself completely in the water. Perhaps due to his essence being that of the Twelfth-Grade Annihilation Black Lotus, Ye Chuanze particularly loved water and preferred cool running water. Regardless of spring, summer, autumn, or winter, he bathed in cool water daily without fail. He referred to this as the nature of plants; otherwise, what reason could explain why he loved water so much?
Ye Chuanze's name contained "water," which perfectly aligned with his current identity. Water is the source of all things, and all waters in the world converge into rivers. Names carry meaning; what is lacking at birth can be compensated for by names. Ye Chuanze's name compensated for his shortcomings at birth, allowing heaven's way to tolerate his existence; his future would also unfold as indicated by his name.
Water benefits all things and blesses the nine provinces; this is Ye Chuanze.
Only by doing good can one dispel malice and forge an unparalleled Merit body.
Ye Chuanze closed his eyes and soaked in the cold water while white lotuses bloomed around him. At first glance, these white lotuses seemed real; upon closer inspection, they appeared false. Ye Chuanze summoned his accompanying treasure—a Twelfth Grade Black Lotus—born alongside him during his tribulation transformation and connected to him spiritually. He placed the Black Lotus into the water, causing the surrounding white lotuses to bloom even more profusely; those that were once budding instantly opened up, filling the air with a faint scent of lotus.
Watching this scene of white lotuses blooming around the enchanting black lotus made Ye Chuanze's lips curl slightly upward. He recalled long ago when he was still a black lotus himself, soaking in the White Jade Pool outside Hongjun's sleeping quarters in Purple Cloud Palace. At that time, he had no physical form and grew in the White Jade Pool day and night. Hongjun seemed quite free and often came to see him, talking with him occasionally; more often than not, he would sit silently by the stone table at the pool's edge without saying a word. Even so, Ye Chuanze felt content; having someone nearby meant he was not alone.
What once felt like mundane times now evoked nostalgia in him. Only at such moments could Ye Chuanze slowly appreciate Hongjun's thoughtful care at times. The White Jade Pool outside Hongjun's sleeping quarters had now been transformed into a pavilion; Ye Chuanze couldn't help but feel melancholy—time cruelly passed by, never to return to the past.
"What are you thinking about?" A sudden deep voice interrupted his thoughts. Startled, Ye Chuanze quickly turned around to see a handsome man dressed in a black robe embroidered with golden cloud patterns standing before him—it was none other than Mara Lord Rahu.
Rahu's unexpected visit put Ye Chuanze on guard; instantly he tensed up and looked at him with a cold expression, saying sternly, "After going to the demon realm, have you forgotten even basic etiquette? You barged into someone else's cave without notice—Rahu, have you truly regressed? Is this place meant for people like you from the demon realm?"
Rahu seemed taken aback by Ye Chuanze's strong reaction; he raised an eyebrow in surprise and replied, "Do I need to announce my arrival when I come here?"
"What are you talking about?" Ye Chuanze frowned.
"Your people are mine. Do I need to report to you when I come here?" Rahul said with an air of certainty.
"Rahul!" Ye Chuanze was furious and said, "When did I become your person?"
Seeing his furious expression, Rahul smirked and said, "A long time ago, weren't you mine? Back then, we were quite close. I was with you every day, taking you wherever I went, never apart."
"..." Ye Chuanze.
Rahul's words only fueled the fire of Ye Chuanze's anger. With a splash, he stood up, emerging from the water. The water flowed down his strong and toned chest, revealing a fair and muscular torso with smooth, firm abs that made one want to reach out and touch him. Ye Chuanze's physique was flawless, drawing all eyes.
Rahul's gaze lingered on his chest, a deeper smile forming on his lips as he teasingly remarked, "Not bad."
"Thank you for the compliment; I think so too," Ye Chuanze replied coldly, his eyes fixed on Rahul. His face could not hide his anger, and the flames of rage within him grew stronger. Rahul's words were clearly distorting the truth!
Ye Chuanze had once been captured by Rahul and forced to become a tool for him. That was the most humiliating time for him, a past he could never let go of. What did it mean to be close? What did it mean to be together every day? It was all nonsense! Rahul had forced him to be his mount, riding him around to fight and kill. The outrageous things he had done now became evidence of their supposed good relationship!
Ye Chuanze's anger surged within him, but his expression calmed down. He knew that the more furious he became at this moment, the easier it would be for him to lose control and make mistakes that Rahul could exploit. He looked coldly at Rahul and said in a chilling voice, "I always thought it would have been better if you had died back then. Tell me, how did you manage to survive? Why don't you want to die, Rahul?"
Hearing this, the smile faded from Rahul's face, and his expression darkened. The look in his eyes became chilling; no one wanted to be reminded that someone wished for their death, especially not someone they cared about. Rahul actually had strong feelings for Ye Chuanze; he liked him very much, like a precious and rare treasure.
It was precisely because of this that he couldn't forget Ye Chuanze. As soon as he left the Demon Realm, he wanted to find him. If it weren't for Hongjun getting in the way, Rahul would have found Ye Chuanze during his first visit to Primordial. Even later on, despite Hongjun's obstruction, Rahul recklessly went to find Ye Chuanze under the pretense of adding a general to the Demon Realm.
In the end, he didn't manage to recruit anyone but ended up completely captivated by Ye Chuanze instead. He spent every day thinking about returning to Primordial to bring Ye Chuanze into the Demon Realm to serve.
Rahul felt that Ye Chuanze was just perfect for him—cold-hearted and ruthless with exceptional cunning and strength; he was destined to be a general in his Demon Realm. At that moment, he began to resent Hongjun for stealing away one of his generals—his Ye Chuanze. Long ago, Ye Chuanze had belonged to him; he was Rahul's Spiritual Treasure. Once someone harbored resentment in their heart, it was easy for them to lash out at others.
That's how Rahul felt about Hongjun; he thought Hongjun was too insidious for taking away the solitary Ye Chuanze while he wasn't around and repeatedly blocking him from finding Ye Chuanze. Now that Ye Chuanze refused to return with him due to Hongjun's influence, Rahul's anger boiled over. He had already been dissatisfied with Hongjun's actions; now it transformed directly into fury.
Coincidentally, Hongjun learned that Rahul had gone to meet Ye Chuanze while he wasn't paying attention and even tried to take him away—this was intolerable! Ye Chuanze was his disciple; did Rahul consider his face at all? This was unacceptable! How dare he try to take Hongjun's disciple!
Thus began a clash between two titans of Primordial: Dao Ancestor Hongjun and Mara Lord Rahu. Both sides suffered injuries; although they weren't severe, they were still significant enough. This led to the scene where Ye Chuanze treated Hongjun’s wounds at Purple Cloud Palace. Although Hongjun’s injuries weren’t serious and would heal on their own after some time without any major issues, it just so happened that this was when Ye Chuanze arrived at Purple Cloud Palace.
Hongjun looked at the indifferent and unaware Ye Chuanze and felt a surge of anger in his heart. As his disciple, Ye Chuanze should stay away from Rahul and not be swayed by him or waver in his resolve towards the Demon Realm. Seeing Ye Chuanze ’s calm demeanor infuriated Hongjun further; thus he found an excuse to keep him there, leading to subsequent events.
It must be said that Hongjun and Rahul are indeed rivals. Hongjun tried to find a way to keep someone around, subtly undermining Rahul, which caused Ye Chuanze's impression of Rahul to plummet. Meanwhile, Rahul immediately sought out Ye Chuanze. However, unlike Hongjun's strategic gain, Rahul only managed to create animosity for himself, relentlessly stabbing at Ye Chuanze's heart, building up a hatred that could lead to revenge.
"I didn't know you hated me so much," Rahul said, looking at him with cold eyes.
Ye Chuanze's gaze was icy, filled with anger, and he remained silent.
Rahul continued to observe him and said, "I have always been ruthless and merciless towards others, yet I have never wronged you or harmed you. Why do you hate me so?"
Ye Chuanze continued to stare at him coldly, remaining silent for a long time.
The two stood facing each other—one in the pool, his expression cold and furious, the other on the steps of the pool, frowning in displeasure. The atmosphere between them was tense and ready to explode.
After a long while, Ye Chuanze finally spoke in a cold tone devoid of warmth: "Sometimes, not harming someone does not equate to treating them well; dignity is more important than life."
