Less than a month later, Di Jun came to the Buzhou Mountain Cloud Marsh Cave again.
Ye Chuanze sat on a soft couch, holding a Wine Jug with a smile as he poured a cup of wine for Di Jun and said, "Did you come today because of some happy news?"
"How did you know?" Di Jun picked up the wine cup to cover his mouth and replied.
"Just look at the smile in your eyes and the rosy glow on your face; it's obvious," Ye Chuanze teased.
Di Jun straightened his expression, trying to appear calm and indifferent, but he couldn't hide the smile at the corners of his lips. With a spring-like demeanor and proud eyes, it was clear that he was in an exceptionally good mood due to some joyful event.
"To be honest, I do have some good news," Di Jun said.
"Oh? What is it?" Ye Chuanze asked.
Di Jun paused for a moment, his face slightly flushed, and said, "I proposed to Xi He, and we are engaged!"
"Congratulations! May your wishes come true," Ye Chuanze said without any surprise. When he saw Di Jun visiting him with such joy, he had already guessed that it was likely related to Xi He.
Di Jun's joy was evident as he smiled and said, "It's all thanks to you." After a moment's hesitation, he added, "There is one thing I still need your help with."
"What is it? Just tell me."
Di Jun hesitated for a while before saying, "I proposed to Xi He, but she neither accepted nor rejected; she just said she needed a few days to think about it."
"Then let her think for a few days and wait for her response," Ye Chuanze raised an eyebrow and said.
"That's true, but I can't just do nothing. What if Xi He changes her mind?" Di Jun replied.
"What do you want then?" Ye Chuanze asked.
Di Jun glanced at him and said, "Xi He has a good relationship with the Queen Mother of the West from Kunlun Mountain and Nuwa; they are close friends. I would like to ask Nuwa to speak on my behalf to Xi He, persuading her to accept my proposal, and on the day of the wedding, I would like Nuwa to be the officiant for me and Xi He."
"Then you should go find Nuwa, not me," Ye Chuanze replied, looking at him.
Di Jun's expression turned awkward as he said, "It's because you have a good relationship with Nuwa that I asked you to talk to her; this way, she is more likely to agree."
Ye Chuanze thought for a moment and nodded, saying, "That's true." Nuwa had always been wary of Di Jun; if Di Jun went directly to propose, regardless of whether she agreed or not, she would definitely mock him. It's no wonder Di Jun sought Ye Chuanze's help.
"Alright, I'll speak to her for you," Ye Chuanze said.
Di Jun sighed in relief upon hearing his agreement and said, "Thank you for your help."
After Di Jun left, Ye Chuanze went to find Nuwa and conveyed Di Jun's request. As expected, Nuwa laughed twice and sarcastically remarked, "He has finally come to this. Why doesn't he come to me himself?"
Ye Chuanze silently wiped his sweat, thinking that Nuwa truly had a regal aura; it was no wonder Di Jun was reluctant to face her. After a moment of thought, he said, "Di Jun probably feels embarrassed to come directly and ask for your help with the proposal, so he sent me instead."
Nuwa scoffed lightly and said, "If he lacks even this bit of courage, how can he dare propose to Xi He?"
"..." Ye Chuanze.
Nuwa glanced at him and asked, "What's wrong? Do you disagree with what I said?"
"No..." Ye Chuanze replied with difficulty. "Di Jun and Xi He have mutual feelings; if you lend him a hand, it would fulfill their destiny as a couple and create a beautiful story."
Hearing this, Nuwa looked at him sideways and said, "Since when did you become so close with Di Jun? Why are you speaking up for him?"
Ye Chuanze looked at her and simply replied, "We are both men..." Men understand the struggles of pursuing women; why should he make it difficult for him? They are comrades, brothers in arms.
When Nuwa heard this, she immediately laughed and said, "Alright, alright! I will help him this time."
Ye Chuanze breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this. The sisters of the Primordial were too fierce; Di Jun was truly great, sacrificing himself to feed the tiger! Ye Chuanze silently lit a candle for the soon-to-be-married Di Jun, and his resolve to never seek a sister grew stronger. Instead of inviting a queen to serve him at home, he would rather find a man to love and cherish.
A month later, news spread from the Heavenly Palace that Demon Emperor Di Jun was marrying Sun Goddess Xihe, inviting all the celestial beings to attend the wedding banquet at the Heavenly Palace.
As the ruler of the Heavenly Palace and the emperor of the demon clan, Di Jun's wedding could not be taken lightly. Eastern Emperor Taiyi personally oversaw the banquet, with Yao Master Kunpeng assisting him. Everyone in the demon clan was busy preparing for Di Jun's wedding, and the Heavenly Palace was filled with joyous festivities.
From Di Jun's wedding alone, it was evident that he held great prestige among the demon clan, quickly winning people's hearts in a short time. This demonstrated Di Jun's remarkable skills and his excellent ability to win over others.
Ye Chuanze went to the Heavenly Palace with Fuxi. Nuwa had arrived early; she was the officiant for Di Jun and Xi He’s wedding and came to the Heavenly Palace before anyone else. Upon arriving, Ye Chuanze noticed that the Heavenly Palace was adorned in vibrant red and purple colors, filling the air with a festive atmosphere. Red symbolizes joy, while purple signifies nobility in Taoism; these colors perfectly matched today's celebratory mood.
Guests filled the hall. Ye Chuanze scanned his surroundings and saw that Three Pure Ones, Zhen Yuanzi, Jieyin, Zhun Ti, and Minghe Old Ancestor were all present. It seemed that Di Jun had quite a reputation; more than half of the Primordial immortals had come!
Ye Chuanze and Fuxi sat among the guests. After waiting for a while, they saw Nuwa standing on a high platform at the front. Di Jun and Xi He both approached her in their elaborate ceremonial attire.
This was Ye Chuanze's first time seeing Xi He. He carefully observed her: her brows resembled distant mountains, her black hair flowed elegantly, her face resembled peach blossoms, and her figure was slender—indeed a striking beauty.
Nuwa stood on the high platform looking at Di Jun and Xi He before her. She took out the Red Embroidery Ball from her sleeve and tossed it into the air, saying, "Today I officiate for Demon Emperor Di Jun and Sun Goddess Xihe; their union is destined by heaven. They are now married as husband and wife."
As soon as she finished speaking, heaven responded by bestowing Merit.
A layer of Merit descended upon Nuwa's Red Embroidery Ball as it governed all unions in the world. Nuwa had pondered over it for many years but did not fully understand its mysteries until that day when Ye Chuanze sought her out to officiate for Di Jun and Xi He. A flash of insight struck her mind; she suddenly comprehended the profound nature of the Red Embroidery Ball. Her agreement to officiate for Di Jun and Xi He was to fulfill this first marriage in heaven and earth.
Since this was indeed the first marriage in heaven and earth, its impact would be far-reaching; it was no surprise that heaven would bestow Merit upon them. The layer of Merit absorbed by the Red Embroidery Ball transformed it from an acquired Spiritual Treasure into an extraordinary treasure. As Nuwa received the falling Red Embroidery Ball, a smile flickered at the corner of her lips—her treasure had manifested!
Another layer of Merit descended upon Nuwa herself; as the officiant, she rightfully received this layer of Merit.
A layer of Merit also fell upon Ye Chuanze among the guests. The golden Merit entered his body, causing him to show a hint of surprise before returning to his usual demeanor. Noticing that many celestial beings were looking at him, he calmly smiled faintly.
The assembled immortals collectively thought, "What the hell? It's this guy again!" Last time when the Heavenly Palace was established, he received a layer of Merit. This time, at Di Jun's wedding, he again received a layer of Merit. Why does all the good fortune go to him?
The emotions of the immortals were quite complex, and some began to ponder privately whether Ye Chuanze's repeated acquisition of Merit was coincidence or fate.
Di Jun glanced at Ye Chuanze in the guest seats, raising an eyebrow in surprise. He couldn't help but marvel at his good luck for having benefited from his Merit twice. However, Di Jun did not mind; this was all well-deserved by Ye Chuanze. It was he who had asked Ye Chuanze for help, and since Ye Chuanze assisted him successfully, sharing a bit of Merit was only reasonable. He wouldn't hold a grudge over such trivial matters. As an emperor, one must possess the capacity to accommodate others.
Eastern Emperor Taiyi received a layer of Merit, Kunpeng and the demon clan received a layer of Merit, and ultimately all five layers of Merit fell to Di Jun and Xi He.
The first marriage between heaven and earth was completed under the officiation of Nüwa, with Di Jun and Xi He becoming husband and wife.
After the marriage was concluded, the banquet commenced.
Amidst the sounds of silk and bamboo instruments, with spirits high from the wine, all the immortals wore smiles on their faces, seemingly very happy for Di Jun. What they truly thought remained unknown to Di Jun; at least on the surface, they congratulated him. Looking at these immortals who were either genuinely or feigning joy while toasting him, Di Jun smiled broadly and said, "Come on, let’s drink! Today you all have honored me by attending my wedding banquet; that is already a favor to me. Let’s drink freely! No one leaves until we’re drunk."
From a distance, Zhun Ti Dao Ren watched as Di Jun was surrounded by a group of immortals pouring drinks for him. He smiled wryly and said, "Seeing the unstoppable rise of the demon clan over just one marriage, even Heaven's Way bestows great Merit."
Ye Chuanze heard this and glanced at him, saying, "This is not just any marriage; this is the first marriage between heaven and earth." He smirked slightly at Zhun Ti and continued, "If you have the ability, go get married too... Ah... but even if you got married now, it would be too late; this first marriage has been claimed by Di Jun along with its Merit."
Zhun Ti was momentarily speechless from his words, glaring at him with resentment.
Ye Chuanze ignored his hateful gaze and continued drinking calmly. Looking at the proud expression on Di Jun's face and then glancing at Xi He sitting quietly on her Heavenly Queen throne—she wore a serene smile while her gaze followed Di Jun among the guests— Ye Chuanze felt an inexplicable melancholy arise within him.
Before the banquet ended, Ye Chuanze left early. He walked straight towards Purple Cloud Palace. Haotian was dozing at the palace gate; upon noticing someone approaching, he quickly opened his eyes. Seeing it was Ye Chuanze, he sighed in relief and complained slightly, "Oh, it's you, Senior Brother!"
Ye Chuanze disregarded his startled reaction and asked, "Is Master inside?"
"Yes," Haotian replied.
"Then I’ll go in to find him."
"No need for me..." Before Haotian finished speaking, he saw Ye Chuanze walking directly towards the palace gate, seeming to be walking in a hurry. Haotian looked at it for a while, then finished the sentence with a somewhat depressed expression, "Don't you need me to lead the way?" After a long time, Haotian muttered: "Senior brother, something seems wrong today? What happened?"
