Xue Fu felt an overwhelming sense of joy after turning the tables, and she rushed over to the Empress to ingratiate herself.
In the Imperial Garden, a maid hurried over with tea, but accidentally spoke out of turn, causing the tea to spill on the ground at the Empress's feet.
"Miss Xue, I wonder how well you slept last night?" the Empress suddenly asked, her tone stern.
Xue Fu was momentarily at a loss for words.
The Emperor stepped out from behind, his face filled with fury. "You, Xue Fu, have committed treason! Do you know this could lead to the annihilation of your entire family?"
Confused, Xue Fu immediately knelt down and begged for mercy.
The maid explained from the side, "Your Majesty, it is my fault. I had already told Miss Xue to reveal the truth, but she refused to listen."
Xue Fu was bewildered and shouted angrily, "You wretched little servant, what nonsense are you spouting?"
"Your Majesty, I only heard her say 'kill' while she was sound asleep, but I truly do not know who she meant to kill!" The maid looked innocent, while Xue Fu remained perplexed.
"Enough! Go investigate!" The Emperor was furious.
"I remember there was a maid named Zhen'er nearby who heard Miss Xue say she killed the True Princess; her falsehood has become truth!" The maid added, pulling out a knife for the Empress to see.
"At that time, Miss Xue was waving this knife around in her sleep; I was too scared to approach."
"How dare you slander me!" Xue Fu slapped the maid across the face.
In an instant, she was taken away by a eunuch.
She cried out in despair, claiming her innocence, but the Emperor didn’t even glance at her as she was immediately thrown into a water dungeon.
When Xue Fu was brought in, I waved at her with a slight smile. "Miss Xue, I fear these days in prison will be too much for your delicate constitution."
"Someone help!" she screamed hoarsely. "I am being framed by that wretched girl; she is the real murderer!"
"Help!"
Her cries echoed through the water dungeon, but no one came to rescue her.
I heard that General Xue, in order to avoid suspicion and protect his title, personally requested the Emperor to execute his own daughter.
I was pardoned, and as I stepped out, the Empress tightly embraced me.
"I'm sorry, Bi'er," my father and mother said, "You've suffered so much. It's all because there are too many treacherous people in this palace. We will definitely avenge you!"
After dealing with the maidservant, the Emperor turned to look at me. I covered my shoulders, trembling.
He gazed at me with a complicated expression. "Are you... are you alright?"
Seeing his demeanor, I felt this was a rare opportunity, so I pretended to be pitiful and said, "Father, I'm... I'm scared..."
I recalled how Miss Xue had scalded me with boiling water and stepped on me; I truly was terrified.
"I... I'd rather be dead..."
With that, I broke free from the maidservant and leaped into the lake.
The water was icy cold, but I feigned struggling for a moment as if I were truly drowning.
The Emperor was furious at the sight of me: "You can't even keep an eye on one person! Someone! Lock them all up!"
The maidservants were so frightened that their faces turned pale; they cried out for mercy and blamed everything on Xue Fu to save themselves.
The Emperor ordered that she be confined until she was to marry the prince of the Northern Desert.
Hearing this news made my heart bloom with joy, but I still put on a pitiful facade to garner the Emperor's sympathy.
Seeing me like this made the Emperor feel even more distressed; he quickly had someone pull me out of the water.
Lying in the Emperor's arms, I feigned weakness and said, "Father... am I going to die..."
Upon hearing this, the Emperor became even more anxious: "Nonsense! How could you die? Imperial Physician! Quickly summon the Imperial Physician!"
Seeing the Emperor so worried made me want to laugh with delight.
In the water prison, I held a knife and slowly approached Xue Fu. She sat on the ground, her eyes wide with terror as she kept scooting backward.
"What... what are you going to do? I'm Princess Chang Le! If you dare touch me, Father won't let you go!"
I let out a sneer, crouching down to lift her chin with the tip of my knife. "Princess? You think you deserve to be called a princess?"
With that, I thrust the blade toward her chest. She screamed, her eyes widening in disbelief as she looked at me.
"I forgot to tell you, your brother Xue Chang should also be exiled to Ningguta because he conspired with you to attempt to murder the princess!"
"You... you really are the princess?!" she gasped weakly.
"Impossible! That letter clearly states that the true owner is the True Princess, and your handwriting is completely different from hers!"
I let out a cold laugh, saying nothing more as I forcefully pulled the knife out. Blood gushed forth, staining her magnificent attire.
She clutched her wound, groaning in agony. I grabbed her hair and slammed her head against the stone pillar.
"The True Princess died ten years ago!"
"I'll make sure you understand your fate," I smirked. "In fact, the letters you received were all given to you by me. By taking my letters, you fell right into my trap. Murdering royalty is a grave sin; no matter how powerful your father is, he cannot protect you! Now, to save himself, he has handed you and your brother over."
I laughed coldly. "I want the Xue Family to experience the feeling of having their family torn apart and their lives shattered!"
Her eyes widened in terror and regret.
"You... you..." Her hands trembled as her eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets.
Finally, she collapsed to the ground, lifeless.
I stood there, looking at her corpse. The hatred and entanglements of so many years were finally released at this moment.
From now on, there would be no more False Princess; only I would remain as the True Princess.
I returned to the palace, receiving my father's favor and the support of my subjects.
With my strength and wisdom, I protected this nation, allowing the people to live in peace and prosperity.
I lifted my head to gaze at the bright moon in the sky, silently praying for my adoptive parents.
May they rest in peace in the afterlife.
The hatred has dissipated; life continues on.
And I will move forward as the True Princess until eternity.
