Buying so many medicines made the pharmacist suspicious that Chen Haoxuan was up to no good. He had to explain for a long time about their uses before the pharmacist finally sold him the medicines. As Chen Haoxuan was leaving, the pharmacist even gave him a business card and said if he really created a product that could treat acne, he should give him a call.
"Move aside, get out of the way!" A boy dressed in colorful clothes ran quickly, occasionally shoving aside pedestrians blocking his path.
Behind him was a group of similarly dressed individuals chasing after him, wielding weapons like iron rods and machetes. "Yang Lin, you bastard! If you're capable, don't run!"
"Damn it! Do you think I'm an idiot? With so many of you, even gods would be killed by you!" Yang Lin cursed without looking back. He regretted not bringing his friends along; otherwise, things wouldn't have turned out this badly.
Vroom—The sound of motorcycles echoed as three motorcycles sped by. Screech—The sound of brakes followed as the three motorcycles blocked Yang Lin's path. One bald-headed rider shouted angrily at Yang Lin, "Why aren't you running? Let's see if you can run faster than my motorcycle!"
"Hey, bald guy, we're all in the same line of work here, can't you give me some face?" Yang Lin said with a bitter expression.
"Give you face? Who do you think you are? When I started out, you were still playing in the mud! You've ruined my mood today, so I'm going to break your arms and legs," the bald man sneered at Yang Lin.
Chen Haoxuan stood at the entrance of the pharmacy with two bags in hand, watching the commotion. He had never seen such a 21st-century thug showdown before! He wondered if it would turn into a bloodbath.
Yang Lin regretted trying to be a hero. He had provoked the bald man because he saw him harassing a waitress at the bar. In his youthful enthusiasm, he stepped in, and before he knew it, they were fighting. He thought the bald man was alone, but didn't realize that his other lackeys were dancing nearby. When the bald man shouted, over ten thugs charged at him, and it was no surprise that he ran.
Yang Lin looked around desperately for a way to escape. Suddenly, he spotted Chen Haoxuan at the pharmacy entrance. As a student from New City University, Chen Haoxuan was well-known, and Yang Lin recognized him immediately. He shouted, "Chen Haoxuan! Call the police! Someone's trying to kill me!"
Chen Haoxuan was taken aback, thinking, does this guy know me? Could he be an old friend of mine? Regardless, if he recognized me, I should help him. Pretending not to hear Yang Lin's plea, Chen Haoxuan walked into One Plus Supermarket with his two bags. He left his items at the counter and then bought a bag of flour before heading back outside. By then, he saw Yang Lin already engaged in a fight with those thugs.
Yang Lin was holding his own; Chen Haoxuan could tell he had trained in karate. Chen Haoxuan squeezed into the crowd. It was well-known that Chinese people loved to watch excitement; with so many people gathered around, no one stepped in to help. People really had to rely on themselves.
Holding a small bag of flour, Chen Haoxuan made a hole in the bottom of it and then charged towards Yang Lin. Once he reached Yang Lin's side, he pulled him behind him with his left hand and swung the bag with his right hand. Flour exploded into the air, momentarily blinding the thugs who dared not open their eyes for fear it was lime dust.
As the flour settled, Yang Lin had already vanished from sight. "Where did Yang Lin go? Go find him! If you can't find him, don't ever come back!" The bald man roared angrily upon realizing Yang Lin had disappeared.
Chen Haoxuan and Yang Lin escaped from the crowd and hopped onto a bus. Onboard, Yang Lin boasted to Chen Haoxuan, "You saved me today; from now on, you're my brother! If anyone bullies you, just tell me and I'll take care of them." His way of showing gratitude seemed rather unconventional.
"Ah—so we're not really close after all!" Chen Haoxuan exclaimed in surprise; he thought they were familiar with each other! It turned out that Yang Lin only knew his name.
"Hehe... brother, don't say that! We may not have been close before, but now we’re like sworn brothers after drinking chicken blood," Yang Lin said with a grin.
"How do you know my name?" Chen Haoxuan asked curiously.
"I'm also a student at New City University. I'm a junior majoring in journalism. You're quite the celebrity at our school; I can say that no one doesn't know your name. If you weren't a bit unusual, I believe you would become a prominent figure at New City University," Yang Lin explained.
"I see. Well, I have to go; my things are still at the supermarket!" Chen Haoxuan said as he stood up.
"Hey, don't go! Those thugs might still be around. How about I call someone to help you get your stuff?" Yang Lin said worriedly.
"No need, they're just a few small-time thugs. I haven't even started yet!" Chen Haoxuan replied lightly.
"Driver, stop the car," Chen Haoxuan shouted loudly.
After getting out of the car, Chen Haoxuan took the bus back. When he arrived at the place where Yang Lin and those thugs had their gunfight, he found that the thugs had already left. Chen Haoxuan entered the supermarket and bought some delicious Lollipops, which were Chen Yina's favorite, so he specifically bought them for her. After that, Chen Haoxuan retrieved his belongings before heading home.
