With a loud bang and the sound of thunder, Chen Yina's heart suddenly felt as if it had been pricked by a needle, and an uneasy feeling arose within her, as if warning her that disaster was about to strike.
Everyone was worried about Chen Haoxuan's safety. At that moment, Chen Haoxuan was stuck in a large tree by the river, having been swept up there by the rushing water. He remained hanging there, unconscious. After what seemed like an eternity, Chen Haoxuan slowly began to regain consciousness.
"Where am I? Why is it so dark?" His weak voice echoed in the pitch-black night.
Due to the darkness, Chen Haoxuan couldn't see his surroundings. He felt extremely uncomfortable and turned over, only to fall back into the water with a splash. Fortunately, the wind had died down; otherwise, he would have been swept away again.
During his time of unconsciousness, Chen Haoxuan regained some strength. After falling into the water, he quickly swam to shore. "Where am I? Why is it so dark? I can't see anything," he muttered to himself. He was far from the city, where there were no bright lights—of course it was dark!
Now, Chen Haoxuan had nothing on him except for a pair of underwear. He felt cold and longed for clothes and a fire, but without a lighter and with it raining, where could he find dry wood?
He groped around on the ground and found a stick. Using it to feel his way, he slowly walked forward. Surrounded by trees and weeds with hills nearby and no light, Chen Haoxuan was certain he was in the countryside.
After searching for over an hour, Chen Haoxuan finally found a place to rest at the foot of a mountain. The base of this tall mountain had a dip that provided shelter from the wind and rain. To his luck, he discovered a pile of dry wood inside and even found a box of matches nearby. Chen Haoxuan suspected this was left by villagers who often came here so they wouldn't have to search for firewood each time.
Not caring about anything else, Chen Haoxuan piled up some dry wood and struck a match to light it. The fire quickly caught. "Wow—this feels so warm and comfortable," he exclaimed happily as he basked in the warmth.
With the fire going, Chen Haoxuan looked around and noticed that aside from the small pile of firewood, there was nothing else around.
Exhausted from his day’s ordeal, he unknowingly fell asleep beside the fire. That night, he slept soundly and even dreamed that he had become a billionaire, feasting on delicacies from around the world with countless beautiful women by his side.
As dawn broke slowly, an old man wearing a raincoat and sporting a beard arrived at Chen Haoxuan's location. Others called him Zhang the Old Man; he was a hunter who came to check on the traps he had set in the mountains. When he saw someone lying there naked at the foot of the mountain where he often visited, it startled him; he thought it might be a ghost!
Zhang the Old Man slowly walked over to Chen Haoxuan's side and quietly called out, "Hey, hey, wake up! How did you end up sleeping here?"
Hearing the voice, Chen Haoxuan gradually woke up. He turned over, lying on the ground while looking at Zhang the Old Man, and sleepily asked, "Who are you?"
"My name is Zhang the Old Man. I'm a hunter. Young man, how did you end up in this deep mountain forest? It's not very safe here; wild beasts often appear. I advise you to leave quickly!" Zhang the Old Man said kindly.
Chen Haoxuan stood up, but as soon as he did, he swayed unsteadily. He felt weak in his limbs and his body was still warm. Seeing that Chen Haoxuan seemed about to lose his balance, Zhang the Old Man quickly supported him and asked with concern, "Are you alright?"
"I'm fine; I might just have a cold. It's nothing serious," Chen Haoxuan replied.
"You can't stay in the deep mountains in your current condition; it would be very dangerous. Come with me and let's get out of here!" Zhang the Old Man urged.
"Thank you, Grandpa Zhang. Actually, I didn't come here for fun; I was swept away by the river in New City and ended up here by the riverside. Last night, I just wandered until I reached the foot of this mountain. Luckily, I met you; otherwise, I wouldn't know what to do," Chen Haoxuan said with a smile, feeling grateful for his luck that he hadn't died after being swept away by the river.
"Surviving a great disaster brings future blessings; you will surely become an extraordinary person," Zhang the Old Man smiled at Chen Haoxuan and added while supporting him, "Let's go! I'll help you."
With Zhang the Old Man's assistance, Chen Haoxuan walked for two hours until they finally emerged from the deep mountains and arrived at a small village. According to Zhang the Old Man, this village was called Dongshan Village and had about a hundred households.
Zhang the Old Man took Chen Haoxuan to his home and tidied up a room that had not been lived in for a long time before helping Chen Haoxuan lie down on the bed.
Worried about Chen Yina and the others who might be concerned about him, Chen Haoxuan said to Zhang the Old Man, "Grandpa Zhang, could I borrow your phone to make a call? I want to let my friends know I'm safe."
"Of course! I don't have a mobile phone, but I do have a landline. Just wait a moment; I'll get it for you," Zhang the Old Man replied with a smile.
Zhang the Old Man quickly brought over a landline phone and placed it next to Chen Haoxuan. After dialing Huang Weicheng's mobile phone, Chen Haoxuan explained the situation briefly and asked Huang Weicheng to inform Chen Yina that he was currently in Dongwen Village and would return in a few days. He also requested Huang Weicheng to let Zhou Kexin and the others know that he was alive.
After hanging up, Huang Weicheng rushed to Chen Haoxuan's residence since both Chen Yina and Chen Haoxuan did not have mobile phones. When Huang Weicheng told Chen Yina about Chen Haoxuan's situation, she immediately packed her bags to prepare for a trip to Dongwen Village. Although Chen Haoxuan was now safe, Chen Yina still cried.
Next, Huang Weicheng visited Zhou Kexin's home to inform her family about Chen Haoxuan's condition. Upon learning that Chen Haoxuan was alive, Zhou Kexin sat up in bed, overwhelmed with joy, tears streaming down her cheeks while her lips curled into a smile. In that moment, she resembled a blooming azalea, drenched in the joy of rebirth.
Hua Lingwei was even more exuberant; she jumped up in excitement, exclaiming, "This is wonderful! I knew Chen Haoxuan wouldn't just die like that! Hee hee hee... la la la... I'm so happy; I've never been this happy before."
"Zhou Kexin, you stay home and rest well. I'm going to Dongshan Village to see Chen Haoxuan," Zhou Xiang said kindly to his daughter. Since Chen Haoxuan had saved his precious daughter, he felt it was necessary to visit and personally thank him for saving her life.
