Chen Haoxuan suddenly turned the steering wheel sharply, causing the rear of his car to swing like a pen drawing a semicircle. With a screech, the tires squealed against the pavement. As soon as the car stopped, Chen Haoxuan didn't even waste time opening the door; he simply climbed out through the window. He landed on his feet and pushed himself up with a cool move.
Chen Haoxuan had anticipated that a thief would pass by this spot, so he had parked his car here, ready to intercept the thief.
Just as Chen Haoxuan got out of the car, within less than a minute, the thief appeared. Chen Haoxuan pretended to be a bystander and, as the thief was about to brush past him, he maliciously stuck out his right foot.
"Ouch! Oh my gosh!" The thief exclaimed humorously as he fell, crashing to the ground and sliding over a meter forward. It seemed that he had been running quite fast just before.
The thief was a 15-year-old boy. Despite his youth, Chen Haoxuan showed no mercy. He stepped on the thief's back and coldly said, "Hand over what you stole."
"Bro? Brother, we're all just trying to get by here. Let me go this time, and I promise I'll come back to thank you later," the thief pleaded in slang.
"Not a chance. Hand over what you stole, or I will give you a serious beating and then take you to the police station," Chen Haoxuan replied coldly. He never took petty criminals seriously, whether in the present or future. He only respected those who operated in both legal and illegal realms; people like this thief were beneath him.
At that moment, a blonde girl ran over, panting. When she saw the thief being held down by a boy, her beautiful face lit up with joy. Upon recognizing Chen Haoxuan standing over the thief, her smile grew sweeter. "Chen Haoxuan!" she exclaimed happily.
Hearing someone call his name, Chen Haoxuan turned around in surprise. "Leah? What are you doing here?"
"Chen Haoxuan, he stole my handbag! It has my passport and many precious things inside! Can you help me get it back?" Leah said with a pitiful expression.
Chen Haoxuan lifted his foot and stomped down hard—silently—because he had stepped on the thief's hand. "Ah?! My hand! Get your foot off me!" the thief screamed in agony.
Chen Haoxuan maintained a calm expression and replied, "I know."
"You know and still step on me? Get your foot off quickly! Otherwise, when my friends arrive, you'll regret it," the thief said angrily.
"You still have partners? Then I should call the police first, just to be safe," Chen Haoxuan said as he took out his phone.
At that moment, two young men in their twenties stepped out from the crowd. They arrogantly addressed Chen Haoxuan, saying, "You won't have the chance to call the police now. Let my brother go! If you release him, we can pretend nothing happened."
Seeing that there were only two of the thief's companions, Chen Haoxuan sneered and put his phone back in his pocket. He said to the two young men who had just emerged from the crowd, "You two dare to threaten me? You've got some guts!"
One of the young men whispered to his companion, "He seems to be Chen Haoxuan. I saw him on the news yesterday."
"That's even better. Didn't the boss say that whoever takes out Chen Haoxuan can become the second-in-command of the Black Heart Gang?"
The two young men exchanged glances, their eyes communicating a shared understanding. They both wanted to take down Chen Haoxuan so they could claim the position of second-in-command in the Black Heart Gang.
However, their thoughts differed from Chen Haoxuan's. He believed these two young men were acting strangely, as their eyes reflected an odd delight.
Both young men simultaneously pulled out spring knives from their pockets, which were their tools for committing crimes. They used blades when stealing and resorted to threatening with spring knives when trouble arose.
"Oh wow! You even brought weapons!" Chen Haoxuan mocked as he faced the two young men approaching him.
"Die!" One of the young men lunged first, closing his eyes as he charged at Chen Haoxuan with the spring knife aimed at him. It was clear he had no fighting experience; who closes their eyes while fighting?
Seeing a young man charging at him with closed eyes and a spring knife, Chen Haoxuan sneered. He lifted his foot and stepped on the thief's foot. The thief was confused as to why Chen Haoxuan suddenly released him and quickly stood up. Just as he did, he felt a sharp pain in his back. "Ah?" The thief cried out in despair.
"I stabbed Chen Haoxuan! I stabbed Chen Haoxuan!" The young man heard the scream and mistakenly thought he had hit Chen Haoxuan. Joy surged within him; the position of second-in-command in the Black Heart Gang was now within his grasp.
"Poor thing, even your own companions want to kill you. Sigh?? If I were you, I would rather die together with him than let him have it easy." The voice of Chen Haoxuan echoed in the young man's ears.
The young man suddenly opened his eyes. When he saw that he had not stabbed Chen Haoxuan but his companion instead, he stammered in surprise, "I?? Didn't I just stab Chen Haoxuan? How did it turn into Poisonous Kid?"
Chen Haoxuan did not explain. He raised his fist and punched the young man in the face. The young man's face twisted to the side with a muffled thud, and blood began to flow from his nose. He felt intense pain in his nose and pinched it with his hand, nearly fainting from shock; Chen Haoxuan had broken his nose. While a broken nose could be fixed, he certainly didn't have the money for surgery!
"My nose, my nose..." the young man cried continuously.
"Come on! Why aren't you coming over?" Chen Haoxuan beckoned to another young man with a gentle smile.
To others, Chen Haoxuan's smile seemed charming and sunny, but to the young man, it was the smile of a devil.
Having never seen such a scene before, when the young man saw Chen Haoxuan beckoning him, he was so frightened that he turned and ran away.
The thief stood next to Chen Haoxuan, frozen in place. He was afraid of pain; if he moved now, he would feel intense pain in his back. He didn't want anything else; he just wanted to be taken to the hospital for treatment as soon as possible.
Chen Haoxuan turned around and coldly said to the thief, "Hand over the handbag."
