Abel saw Chen Haoxuan staring intently at a laptop, and she wondered what he could be working on so late. However, she knew this was the perfect opportunity to kill him. Holding a silenced pistol, she slowly aimed at Chen Haoxuan. "Chen Haoxuan, take your talent to hell!" Abel thought to herself.
Chen Haoxuan's fingers were flying over the laptop keyboard when he suddenly felt an ominous premonition. This feeling caused the inspiration he had just thought of to vanish, forcing him to stop.
Suddenly, Chen Haoxuan noticed two glowing objects outside the door crack: "It's someone's eyes, not good." Without hesitation, he flipped over the tea table in front of him, but it was too late; he realized he was under attack.
With a whoosh, Chen Haoxuan was hit in the head, but it wasn't a fatal shot. The bullet grazed his scalp, leaving a significant wound.
"Damn it, how did he find me?" Abel cursed inwardly.
Bang! Bang! The sound of bullets piercing through the windows and doors of Chen Haoxuan's residence echoed suddenly. Puffs of blood erupted from his body—one on his back and another on his abdomen.
"Damn it, I must be surrounded," Chen Haoxuan thought angrily. He was using the sofa and the wooden tea set as cover from the front and back, but there was nothing on his sides to shield him from bullets. His only option now was to escape.
Chen Haoxuan rolled over and sprinted toward his room as fast as he could. As he ran, the sound of gunfire followed him relentlessly; clearly, his assailant was skilled with a gun. Despite his speed, he was hit several times in the back.
Drawing on his immense willpower, Chen Haoxuan made it into his room. There were no windows on any side of the room except for one on the ceiling, so for now, he didn't have to worry about bullets coming from all directions—just that one window above. He moved along the wall to a wardrobe and pulled out a dagger. Biting down on the dagger with his mouth, he leaped onto his bed—a strong spring mattress.
As soon as his feet hit the bed, he pushed off quickly, launching himself into the air with a loud crash as he broke through the glass ceiling. He feared someone might be on the roof, so he used this swift and forceful method to catch his enemy off guard.
After flying out through the window onto the roof, Chen Haoxuan spread his legs and stood firmly on either side of the window frame. He looked around and saw that there was no one on the roof; finally, he breathed a sigh of relief.
Abel saw Chen Haoxuan run inside and fired several shots until he ducked into his room before stopping her barrage. She and her team were equipped with wireless earpieces; she had initially planned for her subordinates to position themselves around the house and fire from all four corners simultaneously to increase their chances of killing Chen Haoxuan. They had observed his residence upon arrival; all the windows were barred with iron grates, making entry impossible. With their first plan failing, Abel instructed her team to regroup at the front door and prepare to storm inside.
When Abel's subordinates gathered at the entrance, she suddenly heard the sound of glass shattering. She knew Chen Haoxuan was trying to escape through the window, so she instructed her subordinates, "Quickly go inside, we cannot let Chen Haoxuan get away."
Abel found it strange; she clearly saw Chen Haoxuan get shot multiple times, yet he seemed unharmed and was able to run into a room.
When Abel and her team reached the room where Chen Haoxuan had just entered, they found it empty. There was broken glass on the floor and bed, and when they looked up, they realized, "Not good, Chen Haoxuan escaped through the window on the roof."
"You two climb up to the roof and see if Chen Haoxuan is still there. The rest of you go outside and search for him. We must find Chen Haoxuan; if we can capture him alive, that would be best. If not... dead will do," Abel said sweetly to her subordinates.
Abel quickly ran outside with two of her subordinates to search for Chen Haoxuan. Under an eave, she discovered bloodstains, clearly belonging to Chen Haoxuan. She followed the trail of blood in pursuit of him.
Chen Haoxuan had long anticipated that his enemies would follow his blood trail to hunt him down, so he ran toward the bustling city. Along the way, he stole some clothes, tearing them into strips to bandage his wounds, preventing blood from leaking out. Without bloodstains, it would be impossible for his enemies to find him.
Chen Haoxuan continued to zigzag through the city at top speed. He had been shot multiple times, and the prolonged running left him weak and dizzy. If he didn't find a place to treat his wounds soon, he might die.
He could no longer distinguish directions; he staggered forward aimlessly. Since it was late at night, there were hardly any pedestrians on the street. When he passed by a villa, he stopped because the lights inside attracted him. With no strength left to leave, he climbed over the iron gate and used the most polite method possible—he rang the doorbell.
Yeh Hsiao-Nuo had just returned from karaoke and was preparing to take a hot shower when the doorbell rang. "Hmm, who could that be at this hour? I don't know many people in New City. Could it be those bastards Old Wang told my brother about my arrival in New City? Or did Old Wang come looking for me for something important?" Yeh Hsiao-Nuo muttered to herself.
She put on the clothes she had just taken off again and walked to the door. There she saw a bloodied man swaying unsteadily as if he might collapse at any moment.
Chen Haoxuan hazily noticed someone had come and slowly spoke up, "I’m being chased; please save me, and I’ll give you a large sum of money."
If Chen Haoxuan hadn't said anything or simply begged Yeh Hsiao-Nuo for help, she definitely wouldn't have saved him because she was a Gangster Boss Lady who had seen plenty of violence. However, when Chen Haoxuan mentioned saving him for money, that changed everything; after all, those in their line of work were in it for money. They would do anything for it.
Yeh Hsiao-Nuo was not worried that Chen Haoxuan would harm her, as she was very confident in her skills. She opened the iron door and said to Chen Haoxuan, "Come in!"
"I have no strength left. Please help me inside! Remember to clean up the bloodstains at the entrance, or it will bring you trouble," Chen Haoxuan replied.
