"No, we didn't mean that. If you are unwilling, we will not force you. As long as you don't do anything harmful to the country, you can always seek our help," Shen Ruyan said sincerely.
"That's what I like to hear. However, I want to ask, if I don't accept your invitation, will you still continue to protect me?" Chen Haoxuan replied with a mischievous smile.
"Yes, we will always protect you from the shadows," Shen Ruyan assured confidently.
"Will it still be you protecting me?" Chen Haoxuan asked with a lewd grin.
Seeing Chen Haoxuan's wicked smile, Shen Ruyan's cheeks involuntarily flushed with two shades of red. She said coyly, "That’s not certain."
Chen Haoxuan stood up and leaned down to speak to Shen Ruyan. Accidentally, he caught sight of her collar, which made him forget what he wanted to say in an instant. A thought flashed through his mind: "So white!"
Shen Ruyan noticed Chen Haoxuan's gaze and curiously looked down, realizing she could see her own chest from the collar. She quickly covered her chest with her hand, biting her lip, and scolded Chen Haoxuan, "Pervert."
Chen Haoxuan pretended he saw nothing and heard nothing. He scratched the back of his head and walked toward the teaching building while saying, "Ah! The weather today is really nice; the sun is shining!"
"Pervert! I saw you sneak a peek at my chest and you're still playing dumb," Shen Ruyan muttered softly as she watched Chen Haoxuan's retreating figure. She didn't understand why she wasn't angry about him looking at her chest; instead, she felt a little pleased and nervous.
Not far away, Chen Haoxuan was surrounded by three people whose faces were filled with anger. "Chen Haoxuan, how dare you go back on your word and mess with us three? You’re quite bold," Ye Hongfei shouted angrily at Chen Haoxuan.
"Chen Haoxuan, you'll pay a heavy price for your actions. I will use my intelligence to make sure you regret it until the end," Gong Sun Xuan said coldly to Chen Haoxuan.
"Uh... can I tell you that I really don’t understand what you're saying?" Chen Haoxuan replied with a puzzled expression. The only connection he had with Wang Fuyou and the others was Shen Ruyan; hadn’t he explained that he didn’t like her? What other reason could there be for their hatred towards him?
"Still pretending? Look at this," Wang Fuyou said as he held up an All-Purpose Phone in front of Chen Haoxuan.
"Whose photo is this?" Chen Haoxuan exclaimed in surprise. He saw that the photo on the phone indeed featured him and Shen Ruyan; she was holding his hand and looking up into his eyes while he was turned slightly to the side talking to her. Even Chen Haoxuan thought it looked quite couple-like.
"What? Got nothing to say now?" Ye Hongfei asked angrily.
"I do have something to say. Shen Ruyan is still at the basketball court. If you have any questions, you can go ask her instead of coming to me because the one you want to marry isn’t me; it’s Shen Ruyan," Chen Haoxuan said helplessly.
"As long as you don't get close to Shen Ruyan, even if she likes you, she won't have a chance," Gong Sun Xuan said.
"If I say that Shen Ruyan and I have nothing going on, would you believe me?" Chen Haoxuan asked.
"I don't believe it," Wang Fuyou and the others replied in unison.
"Fine! Let's go, I'll take you to find Shen Ruyan and let her explain it to you herself. But if you still bother me after she explains, I won't let you off easily," Chen Haoxuan said seriously to Wang Fuyou and the others.
"Okay," Gong Sun Xuan replied.
Chen Haoxuan led Wang Fuyou and the others back to the basketball court, where Shen Ruyan was sitting nearby, lost in thought, seemingly pondering something.
As they approached Shen Ruyan, Chen Haoxuan called out, "Shen Ruyan."
Shen Ruyan didn't respond, so Chen Haoxuan simply pushed her. The moment he did, Shen Ruyan snapped back to reality and quickly turned around. Perhaps she turned too fast for Chen Haoxuan to retract his hand in time, resulting in his hand accidentally touching her chest.
Both Chen Haoxuan and Shen Ruyan froze in shock, as if they had been paralyzed. Their current position made Wang Fuyou and the others furious. They saw Chen Haoxuan's hand resting on Shen Ruyan's ample chest while she looked at him without resistance or protest. If it were them touching Shen Ruyan, she would definitely slap them a few times and might even retaliate more severely.
"Chen Haoxuan..." Ye Hongfei shouted angrily.
"Ah, what? Are you calling me?" Chen Haoxuan exclaimed upon hearing Ye Hongfei's voice. He quickly retracted his hand from Shen Ruyan's chest at lightning speed, so fast that Wang Fuyou and the others barely noticed.
"What do you mean by this? You actually did something so vulgar in front of us! I... I'm going to send someone to take care of you," Ye Hongfei yelled at Chen Haoxuan.
"Why?" Chen Haoxuan questioned, clearly pretending to be clueless.
Wang Fuyou jumped in, pointing at Chen Haoxuan's face and scolding him, "Just because your right hand touched Shen Ruyan's chest, I'm going to hire a hitman to chop off your right hand."
"I didn't do it on purpose! I pushed her and didn't expect her to turn around so quickly. I couldn't retract my hand in time!" Chen Haoxuan protested.
Shen Ruyan felt her cheeks flush. She was just about to stand up to defend Chen Haoxuan, but upon hearing his next words, she found herself not wanting to defend him, but rather wanting to kill him. Chen Haoxuan actually said to Wang Fuyou and the others, "If you’re jealous of me, you can touch it too!"
Hearing Chen Haoxuan's words, Wang Fuyou and the other two turned their gazes towards Shen Ruyan's chest, and their expressions suggested they really had that thought.
Seeing Wang Fuyou and the others staring at her chest with lewd looks, Shen Ruyan scolded them, "What are you looking at? If you keep staring, I’ll dig out your eyes."
When Wang Fuyou and the others saw that Shen Ruyan was angry, they immediately shifted their gaze. Seeing them back down, Chen Haoxuan couldn't help but laugh.
Suddenly, Chen Haoxuan felt a sharp pain in his ear as he heard Shen Ruyan's scolding voice beside him: "Why did you bring them here?"
Seeing Shen Ruyan pinching Chen Haoxuan's ear, Wang Fuyou and the others felt a pang of sadness. They thought to themselves, if they weren't a couple, why would they act so intimately?
"Hey, don’t do that! If you keep this up, Wang Fuyou and the others will misunderstand," Chen Haoxuan pleaded with Shen Ruyan.
"Misunderstand what?" Shen Ruyan asked, a bit confused.
"Don’t you realize that pinching my ear like this makes it look like a wife is pinching her husband's ear and asking him: 'Tell me, do you have another woman outside?'" Chen Haoxuan joked.
