Hearing someone call out, Chen Haoxuan turned around and saw Shen Ruyan. He smiled and said, "Good morning!"
"Were you trying to do something to me yesterday? Otherwise, why did you carry me to bed without me knowing? Did you take advantage of me?" Shen Ruyan asked, her cheeks flushed.
"You were sleeping like a pig; I couldn't wake you up no matter how hard I tried. I didn't want to bother you, but I was worried you'd catch a cold, so I carried you to my girlfriend's room to sleep. Don't worry, I slept in my own room last night. As for your suspicion that I took advantage of you, you absolutely don't need to doubt that; it wasn't necessary," Chen Haoxuan replied.
"Why not?" Shen Ruyan couldn't understand. After all, she was a beauty! What guy wouldn't take advantage of her?
"Because you're not my type!" Chen Haoxuan said.
"Am I not good-looking?" Shen Ruyan retorted angrily.
"You are great, but your personality isn't my type. To put it in my words, you're just a pretty vase," Chen Haoxuan said while making breakfast.
"You... you actually called me a vase! I think you're more like a plant; you already have a girlfriend and are still hanging out with other women. Hmph!" Shen Ruyan pouted.
"So you know about that! It seems you're quite concerned about my private life! But unfortunately, I'm not going to accept you," Chen Haoxuan joked. He knew Shen Ruyan was from the Dragon Group and thought it was normal for her to know these secrets.
"I'm not pursuing you; why would I need your acceptance?" Shen Ruyan pouted.
"If you don't like me, why do you stick around me all the time?" Chen Haoxuan teased.
"You... you're driving me crazy! I'm going to pinch you," Shen Ruyan said as she reached out her delicate hand and pinched Chen Haoxuan's waist hard.
"Ouch! Are you crazy? You actually did that? I'd rather you hit me than do something so warm towards me," Chen Haoxuan complained.
"You said it yourself! If I hit you, you can't hit back," Shen Ruyan said expectantly.
Chen Haoxuan really didn't dodge; he just stood there cooking breakfast. Shen Ruyan raised her hand but suddenly realized she couldn't bring herself to hit him.
"What's wrong? Can't bear to hit me?" Chen Haoxuan asked while holding a bowl of noodles.
Seeing the noodles Chen Haoxuan was holding—pork, pig intestines, pig liver, eggs, and vegetables—Shen Ruyan couldn't help but say, "It smells so good."
"Do you want some?" Chen Haoxuan smiled.
"Mm-hmm," Shen Ruyan nodded eagerly.
"I'm sorry, I only cooked one bowl. If you want to eat, let's share it!" Chen Haoxuan said with a mischievous smile.
In a flash, Shen Ruyan quickly snatched the large bowl from Chen Haoxuan's hands and turned to run out of the kitchen, not forgetting to grab a pair of chopsticks on her way.
"Wow, how can you be so fast? I didn't even have time to react," Chen Haoxuan exclaimed in surprise.
Watching Shen Ruyan eat noodles in the living room, Chen Haoxuan couldn't bear to look. He suspected that Shen Ruyan hadn't eaten for days; otherwise, how could a daughter of an official eat noodles like that? It was quite unrefined.
Seeing Chen Haoxuan watching her eat, Shen Ruyan swallowed a mouthful of noodles and proudly said, "Don't worry, I'll save the soup for you."
"You can keep it! I can't drink soup that's been in your mouth," Chen Haoxuan replied.
Upon hearing Chen Haoxuan's words, Shen Ruyan felt embarrassed. Her earlier comment had implied that he should drink her saliva.
"You just said you only cooked one bowl, right? If I eat this bowl and you won't drink the leftover soup, what will you eat?" Shen Ruyan said angrily, complaining that Chen Haoxuan was rejecting her saliva.
"You didn't wash your face or brush your teeth. How can I drink it?" Chen Haoxuan joked.
"Ah! Right! I just got up and haven't brushed my teeth yet! Chen Haoxuan, why didn't you remind me that I forgot to brush my teeth?" Shen Ruyan stopped eating and said with embarrassment, realizing how unhygienic it was to eat without brushing her teeth.
"What does that have to do with me? I thought you had a habit of not brushing your teeth!" Chen Haoxuan laughed.
"Hmph." Shen Ruyan stood up and walked over to Chen Haoxuan, playfully demanding, "Get me a new toothbrush and a towel."
"There's a small cabinet in the bathroom; everything is inside. Go get it yourself!" Chen Haoxuan replied.
"Hmph, you have no gentlemanly manners at all. Bad man," Shen Ruyan scolded as she headed to find the bathroom.
Chen Haoxuan had actually cooked two bowls of noodles that morning. He turned around and took his bowl of noodles outside to eat.
After washing her face and brushing her teeth, Shen Ruyan returned to find Chen Haoxuan sitting at the table eating noodles. She was surprised; didn't he say he only made one bowl? So now he was eating the bowl she had just eaten? The thought of him eating from the same bowl made her feel conflicted.
Seeing Shen Ruyan come out, out of politeness, Chen Haoxuan waved at her and said, "Come over and eat some noodles?"
Gasp... Chen Haoxuan actually invited her to share a bowl of noodles with him. How shameless could he be! Shen Ruyan suddenly noticed another bowl next to Chen Haoxuan. She quickly walked over and realized that he wasn't eating her bowl after all. She let out a sigh of relief and said, "Good thing you didn't eat mine."
"Do you think I'm like you, stealing someone else's food? Come sit down and eat! We still have class later!" Chen Haoxuan rolled his eyes at Shen Ruyan.
Shen Ruyan sat next to Chen Haoxuan and asked, "Didn't you say you only made one bowl? How did you suddenly end up with two?"
"Oh, it's like this. I calculated my fortune yesterday for today and found out that something was destined to be taken from me. For my own safety, I made two servings while cooking breakfast, but I didn't expect that no one would actually take anything," Chen Haoxuan joked.
"You're so stingy! I'm not eating anymore, hmph," Shen Ruyan said angrily. She hadn't brushed her teeth after eating noodles earlier, and although she had eaten by herself, she still felt a bit dirty.
"I have some soup here; I don't know if you want to drink it?" Chen Haoxuan teased.
"Chen Haoxuan, I hate you!" Shen Ruyan turned away and ignored him.
"My dear sister! You're much older than me, so can you please stop being so childish?" Chen Haoxuan said very seriously to Shen Ruyan.
Girls generally dislike being told they are older, especially by those they care about. Shen Ruyan pouted, "Aren't girls like this? Unlike you boys who pretend to be adults at such a young age. I especially can't stand people like you."
"Then why are you sitting so close to me?" Chen Haoxuan laughed.
Shen Ruyan immediately moved to the other side. "Who likes sitting next to you? So full of yourself."
