"Then take me out," Chen Haoxuan said to Shen Ruyan.
"I'm not taking you out. I want you to stay here with me for a few days, and then we'll go back to New City University together. Otherwise, I won't let you leave," Shen Ruyan replied proudly.
"Alright!" Chen Haoxuan said helplessly as he turned to wash his face and brush his teeth.
Shen Ruyan's body had not fully recovered, but she could walk without any issues. The speed of her recovery astonished all the doctors at the Military Hospital. They knew the reason behind it was Chen Haoxuan's blood. Chen Haoxuan was unaware that the syringe used for his blood transfusion had already been taken by the Director of the Military Hospital for testing.
Shen Ruyan was clearly familiar with the place. She sat in a wheelchair and had Chen Haoxuan push her around. Suddenly, Chen Haoxuan heard a series of gunshots. He looked down at Shen Ruyan and asked, "Are they practicing shooting?"
"Yes! Why? Do you want to give it a try?" Shen Ruyan responded, knowing that boys generally loved guns, but they could only play with them in their dreams since civilians were not allowed to use firearms.
"If possible, I would like to shoot a few rounds," Chen Haoxuan said excitedly.
"Okay, push me over there, and I'll let you shoot," Shen Ruyan replied happily. She wanted to have a good laugh at Chen Haoxuan later because she believed he wouldn't know how to handle a gun.
Chen Haoxuan pushed Shen Ruyan to where a group of soldiers were practicing shooting. Shen Ruyan called over someone who seemed to be a squad leader and asked him to let Chen Haoxuan join the training session.
Chen Haoxuan had no idea how soldiers were trained in the 21st century.
The squad leader handed Chen Haoxuan a handgun. He examined it and played with it for a moment before standing in the designated spot like the other soldiers to shoot at the targets. "Fire!" the squad leader shouted loudly.
Bang bang... Chen Haoxuan fired all the bullets from the handgun in one go while standing, unlike the other soldiers who knelt on one knee to shoot. By the time he finished all his shots, those soldiers had only fired one or two rounds each because they needed to re-aim after every shot, while Chen Haoxuan aimed once and fired all at once.
Chen Haoxuan hit all the targets in the red dot, which surprised Shen Ruyan! She really couldn't believe how amazing Chen Haoxuan's shooting skills were. Even if she shot continuously, she wouldn't achieve such results. She suspected that Chen Haoxuan must have practiced shooting before.
Later, Chen Haoxuan participated in other training sessions, and the results were astonishing! While others took half an hour to cover a distance, he finished it in just ten minutes. When others jumped two meters high, he directly challenged four meters. During a swimming competition, he was even more impressive; while on land, he quickly surged forward and then leaped into the water with his head held high. His control was excellent, and his body glided through the water like a speedboat. By the time others had swum five or six meters, he was already basking in the sun on the opposite bank.
Chen Haoxuan and Shen Ruyan spent the day playing at the military camp. In the evening, after having dinner at Shen Ruyan's place, Chen Haoxuan returned to his hospital room. Around one o'clock in the morning, Chen Haoxuan stealthily left the Military Hospital. He moved like a ghost, unnoticed by the guards on duty. Taking advantage of a group of soldiers going out on patrol, he managed to escape.
The next day, Shen Ruyan woke up early. She wanted to wear Chen Haoxuan's clothes but found them missing. On the bedside cabinet, there was a cup with a note underneath it. She picked it up and read: "I wore your clothes. I had something to take care of, bye! Oh, by the way, you sleep like a pig; I didn't even know when I entered your room." At the bottom of the note was a cute drawing of a pig's head.
Shen Ruyan couldn't believe that Chen Haoxuan could leave; after all, this was a military camp—stricter than a bank—making it impossible to get out. She asked the Military Doctor for a set of women's military uniform. After putting it on, she went around the camp looking for Chen Haoxuan but found no trace of him anywhere. It was then she admitted that Chen Haoxuan had indeed left.
With Chen Haoxuan gone from the military camp and her family being busy with their own lives, Shen Ruyan thought it would be better to return to New City University since her recovery was almost complete.
That afternoon, Shen Ruyan went back to New City University. When she returned, she couldn't find Chen Haoxuan or Wang Fuyou and his friends.
At that moment, Chen Haoxuan was at the hotel where he was staying! He was contemplating whether he should move to New City University since staying at the hotel was both expensive and inconvenient.
That night, Chen Haoxuan received a call from Abel. Abel informed him that they hadn't found anything to prove that Chen Haoxuan's residence wasn't demolished by them. Chen Haoxuan didn't do anything to them; he just told them to keep investigating. He could now be sure that it wasn't Abel who had demolished his place but someone else entirely. If it had been Abel's group, given that he had given them a week to investigate, they would have surely fabricated many false leads during that time. Even if they claimed to have found one or two clues, Chen Haoxuan would still have doubts; however, since they found nothing at all, there was no need for him to doubt anymore.
Wang Fuyou and his friends had sent someone to People's Hospital to inquire about Shen Ruyan after she was taken to Military Hospital on the night of her incident. The doctor at People's Hospital said that Shen Ruyan had ingested a highly toxic laxative and likely wouldn't survive. They realized they had been deceived and began searching for that mysterious man.
On April 13th, Chen Haoxuan moved into New City University. The place he stayed in used to belong to a teacher who probably made some money and bought a house elsewhere. Thus, Chen Haoxuan finally had a place to stay with rent set at five hundred yuan per month. The rent was paid to the principal; however, it remained unclear whether this money went into the principal's pocket or into the school's finance department.
This time, Chen Haoxuan's accommodation wasn't as luxurious; there was just one sofa and one spring bed while most of the furniture came from the previous teacher who lived there.
Yang Lin wanted to move in with Chen Haoxuan, but Chen Haoxuan dared not agree. His current situation was not safe, and he could be assassinated at any moment. Therefore, for Yang Lin's safety, Chen Haoxuan did not accept Yang Lin's request.
In a black sedan, a Dark-Skinned Beauty was conversing with a Sunglasses-Wearing Man. If Wang Fuyou and the others saw this Sunglasses-Wearing Man, they would definitely rush over and shout "fraud."
"You said your poison is incurable, right? Look at Chen Haoxuan; he was poisoned by you and is perfectly fine. Now look at Shen Ruyan; she was poisoned by you and recovered in just a few days. She's back and running around everywhere," the Dark-Skinned Beauty said angrily to the Sunglasses-Wearing Man.
