"Dad, are you crazy? I'm your son," Chen Haorong said in disbelief. Years had passed, yet his father still refused to forgive him.
"I don't have a son like you. You chose to leave, and you racked up a huge debt that almost got me and your mother killed by your employees. After you ran away from home, you never called or wrote a single letter. To you, this family doesn't exist. I guess you're back now to get a piece of the pie from Chen Family Village? Let me tell you, don't even think about it. Chen Haoxuan has long stopped considering us family. This time he brought the entire Chen Family Village to wealth, and we have no share in it, so just go back where you came from!" Chen Zhenghao said angrily. He wanted to hit his son with a hoe but couldn't bring himself to do it.
"That's impossible! You're lying to me. I've heard that those who had conflicts with Chen Haoxuan have reconciled with him. We should be able to do the same," Chen Haorong replied, not believing his father's words. He had seen in the newspaper that those who once tried to take advantage of Chen Haoxuan and even angered him into moving the Clothing Factory had already made amends with him; his family should also reconcile with Chen Haoxuan.
"You fool! Have you thought about how they treated Chen Haoxuan and how we treated him?" Chen Zhenghao retorted angrily.
Li Xin interjected, reminding Chen Haorong, "Haorong! You should understand that those who angered Chen Haoxuan into moving the Clothing Factory and those who spoke ill of him were just trying to gain some small benefits from him. And us? We've treated him poorly since childhood, then drove him out of the house. Now that he's wealthy, we want a share of his fortune and even thought about harming him. Do you understand now why Chen Haoxuan hasn't forgiven us?"
Chen Haorong was still unwilling to give up. He said, "Even if he doesn't forgive us, what can he do? We are still part of Chen Family Village. The rivers, mountains, and land belong to Chen Family Village; as members of this village, we have a stake in it. If he is using our land, he has to pay us."
Li Xin replied again, "You're wrong. He is leading the villagers to develop all of Chen Family Village; everyone shares in it except for our family."
Chen Zhenghao threw the hoe aside and cursed at Chen Haorong and his wife, "Is it clear now? If it's clear, then get out!"
Chen Haorong was in a foul mood; he threw his luggage on the ground and pointed at his father, shouting, "Why should I leave? This Small Villa is mine; if anyone should leave, it's you." He then turned to his wife and said, "Take the luggage into our room and let’s see what he can do about it."
The house indeed belonged to Chen Haorong. When he split from Chen Haoxuan's family, he inherited all of Chen Zhenghao's assets—essentially farmland and this piece of land—making him the head of the household. Therefore, both the land deed and house deed were in his name.
Chen Haorong's words made Chen Zhenghao's face turn purple with anger. He clutched his chest; judging by his pained expression, he might have been on the verge of a heart attack.
Seeing her husband suddenly clutching his chest and looking unwell, Li Xin rushed over anxiously and asked, "Zhenghao, what's wrong? Don't scare me!"
Chen Zhenghao said word by word, "Go get our luggage. We're leaving. I won't stay in his house even if it kills me."
Li Xin's face turned pale. Where would they go? Would they go to Chen Haoxuan's place? She urged her husband, "Zhenghao, we're leaving, but we have no place to stay. Let's just endure it for now! Once Haorong calms down, we can still get along like before!"
Chen Zhenghao felt angry every time he saw his son. If he continued to stay here, he might end up dying from anger caused by his son. He told his wife, "Let's go to your family's place. Don't they have many old houses? We can live in those old houses; it's better than staying here and seeing this ungrateful child."
Li Xin wanted to persuade Chen Zhenghao further, but he insisted on leaving and said that if she didn't want to go, he would leave alone. In the end, Li Xin decided to go with Chen Zhenghao.
The argument in the Chen family was loud enough for several villagers passing by their door to hear clearly. Gossip was the only entertainment in the countryside, and the villagers enjoyed it. Soon enough, news of the Chen family's quarrel spread, and half of Chen Family Village knew about it. In the past, the whole village would have known immediately, but things were different now; many villagers had jobs, so news didn't travel as fast as before.
Chen Haoxuan felt resentful when he heard that Chen Haorong had returned and kicked out his parents. He thought that Chen Haorong was being unreasonable. At the same time, he felt sorry for his parents; their beloved son had abandoned them years ago and now returned only to drive them out of their home. How tragic!
To be honest, Chen Haoxuan really disliked the Chen family and their home. Although he had once been part of it, his life there was worse than that of a dog. His parents called him a bastard; his brother bullied him daily because he was handsome; his sister-in-law was infatuated with him due to his looks and tried to seduce him. When he resisted, she insulted him every day and eventually turned her husband against him, leading to him being kicked out while still in school.
This family was the most twisted one Chen Haoxuan had ever seen; calling them insane wouldn't be an exaggeration. Even in the past, he had been abnormal due to being bullied by his family, timid as a mouse, unable to do anything but study. Even girls bullied him; if that wasn't a sign of mental issues, what was? If it weren't for Chen Haoxuan being reborn from the Future Century, this family would likely have been even worse.
From the villagers' conversations, Chen Haoxuan learned that Chen Haorong had returned intending to share money with the villagers. Upon hearing this news, he laughed at how foolish Chen Haorong was for rushing back without understanding the situation first. The villagers of Chen Family Village had invested their own money to earn profits; Chen Haorong hadn't invested a single cent yet dared to demand a share of the money without fear of being beaten up by them. The profits from Chen Agricultural Company belonged solely to those investors; no one would agree to share money with someone who contributed nothing.
Chen Haorong was somewhat shrewd; on the day he returned, he didn't seek out Chen Haoxuan for money but instead contacted a few old friends and spent hundreds on a meal for them to gather information about the current situation in Chen Family Village.
