Su Jin'er looked at Ruan Hongmei in confusion, unable to understand why the mention of demons would provoke such a strong reaction from her. 0

Realizing her own awkwardness, she lowered her head and quietly muttered an apology before rushing out of the dormitory. Su Jin'er quickly followed, but by the time she reached the stairs, Ruan Hongmei had already disappeared around the corner. She grabbed her textbooks, locked her dorm room door, and when she ran out of the building, Ruan Hongmei was nowhere to be seen. 0

Perhaps she had already gone to class. 0

Thinking this, she slowly made her way to the classroom. It had been a long time since she had gone to class alone; she used to always have Linyuan by her side. However, Linyuan was gone, and then Ruan Hongmei had suddenly appeared, making her feel as though she was not alone. But now, walking alone to class, she realized that she was indeed lonely. No one could accompany her to the end; the only person who could walk with her to the finish line was herself. 0

She walked slowly, occasionally looking up at the newly sprouted trees. If it weren't for those dirty and terrifying events, this world would be beautiful. 0

But now, she found the world cruel because she had witnessed many deaths—not normal deaths, but murders. 0

Murder—a painfully glaring term. Why does such a word exist? If only there were no hatred or greed in human nature, only love and forgiveness. 0

She lost herself in thought, fully aware that such a thing was impossible yet still fantasizing about living in a world filled with love. The current world filled her with fear. 0

"Hi!" 0

A voice interrupted her thoughts. She looked up at the person who had broken her train of thought. 0

Standing before her was a handsome boy dressed in black sportswear. His skin was pale as if he had never seen sunlight, his eyes a rare light blue, his nose high-bridged, and his lips thin. He smiled at Su Jin'er. 0

"Who are you?" she asked with a frown, unable to recall ever meeting him. 0

"My name is Zhuang Lingtian. Nice to meet you! I'm sorry for interrupting your thoughts." 0

Zhuang Lingtian! 0

Su Jin'er silently repeated his name in her mind, certain that she did not know this person standing before her. 0

"Is there something you need?" she asked warily, always cautious around strangers. 0

"Do I look like a bad person?" Zhuang Lingtian asked with a smile. 0

"Uh! Not really, but your face doesn't say you're a good person." She took a step back, creating distance between them. 0

"Heh, do you always guard yourself like this against those who like you?" 0

Su Jin'er stared at him in shock, completely unprepared for his directness. 0

"Heh, don't be surprised. I actually wouldn't have appeared before you if I hadn't recently heard that Chu Feifan seems to have done something wrong to you, which is why I'm here." Zhuang Lingtian wore an innocent smile. 0

"Thank you for showing up, but it's not necessary." With that, she turned to leave. 0

"Don't you want to know the real cause of Zhuo Xiaoman's death?" 0

His words made Su Jin'er pause for a moment, but it was just that—a moment. She didn't stop completely and continued walking forward. 0

"Come on! Can you at least give me a chance?" Zhuang Lingtian said helplessly as he caught up with her, looking at the frowning Su Jin'er. 0

She remained silent, simply keeping her head down as she walked her own path. 0

"Is this how you treat everyone?" 0

"No, I just ignore boring people." 0

"Ah!" Zhuang Lingtian stopped in his tracks, realizing that he was seen as a boring person in her eyes. However, he didn't give up and continued to pursue her: "Is it really that hard to be friends with you?" 0

"It's not difficult; my friend needs to be sincere." 0

"I am sincere! I like you, so I told you right away when we met. Isn't that sincerity?" Zhuang Lingtian said innocently. 0

Su Jin'er stopped and said, "You are indeed sincere in this regard, but I think your intentions go beyond just telling me this!" 0

Su Jin'er looked into his eyes; his light blue irises resembled an unfathomable sea, making it impossible for her to see the bottom. She reminded herself that this man was dangerous. 0

Zhuang Lingtian did not shy away from her gaze but met it directly. Her eyes were deep, and he too could not see the bottom. 0

"If there's nothing else, I'll be on my way," Su Jin'er said as she walked around him toward the classroom. 0

"Su Jin'er, I like you!" Zhuang Lingtian shouted loudly, watching her retreating figure. 0

This bold confession immediately attracted the attention of other classmates. They curiously looked over; some had disdain in their eyes, others were filled with envy, while a few merely glanced before continuing on their way. 0

"Are you crazy?" Su Jin'er said angrily, though she felt touched inside. Every girl has a desire to be loved; if someone likes her, regardless of whether she accepts it or not, it brings happiness and even pride. 0

"Yes, I'm crazy—love-sick!" Zhuang Lingtian continued to shout, seemingly afraid that others wouldn't hear him. 0

Su Jin'er shot him a glare and turned to leave; she didn't want to indulge his madness. 0

"If you continue to ignore me, I will soon let everyone in the school know that I like you." 0

Su Jin'er paused but did not turn back. She quietly waited for him to catch up. Seeing her stop, Zhuang Lingtian chuckled and hurried over. 0

"I hate shameless people the most, so you'd better not be shameless in front of me." Her mind was a mess; both the murder case and Chu Feifan's betrayal made her feel overwhelmed. 0

What has happened to this world? 0

There was no sign of Ruan Hongmei in the classroom, yet Zhuang Lingtian walked in as if nothing was wrong, his hands stuffed in his pockets, following her. His arrival sparked a commotion among the girls, who were eagerly discussing who he was. 0

In the corner, Chu Feifan sat quietly, watching the two who had entered together. His fists were tightly clenched, but he merely held them that way. 0

"Hey! Can we sit over there?" Zhuang Lingtian pulled Su Jin'er by the hand without waiting for her consent and led her to a seat by the window, where they could see the trees outside. 0

Once seated, she said nothing more. She quickly scanned the classroom but still did not see Ruan Hongmei. However, she caught a glimpse of Chu Feifan and Qin Yu sitting in the corner. In that fleeting moment, she noticed his haggard face. 0

In just two days, their relationship had transformed from lovers to strangers—no, not even strangers. 0

Her heart ached slightly, but at that moment, she was more concerned about Ruan Hongmei, who had suddenly run off. Where could she have gone? 0

The classroom was chaotic, and her mind was equally disordered. 0

Then she heard someone singing. Singing wasn’t unusual, but what was strange was the song—it was "Alone at the Western Tower," the same song she had heard over the past two nights. 0

The singer was none other than Zhuang Lingtian, sitting beside her with his legs crossed, appearing completely nonchalant. It was her first time hearing a boy sing this song, and it carried a unique charm. 0

"Why do you like this song?" she asked. 0

"Because it's beautiful! Plus, there's something peculiar about this song that I find hard to describe. Do you like it too?" 0

Su Jin'er shook her head; she wasn't sure if she should tell him about hearing someone sing this song late at night. 0

"You seem to have a lot on your mind?" 0

"Ha ha!" She laughed awkwardly, then stood up and said, "You go ahead with your class! I have something to take care of." 0

After saying that, she picked up her textbook and was about to leave when Zhuang Lingtian grabbed her. 0

"Sit down. I know what you want to do, but trust me, you'll find the person you're looking for soon." 0

She looked into his eyes again and felt as if her thoughts were being slowly drawn away by him. His eyes seemed to see into the depths of her soul, and she hurriedly averted her gaze. 0

"Ha ha, trust me!" 0

He forcefully pressed her back into the chair. 0

Su Jin'er didn't speak. His eyes had told her that he was trustworthy, and she actually believed him. 0

The instructor was lecturing on stage while Su Jin'er absentmindedly flipped through the textbook in front of her. Her mind wasn't here at all; she was still worried about Ruan Hongmei's safety. 0

While she was lost in thought, Zhuang Lingtian suddenly tugged at her. She looked up at him, but his gaze was focused intently on the window. Following his gaze, she looked outside. 0

Downstairs, Ruan Hongmei suddenly appeared in the woods. She walked slowly and then sat down on a bench, lowering her head and fiddling with her fingers. 0

Su Jin'er knew that when Ruan Hongmei fiddled with her fingers, it meant she was very anxious. But why was she in the woods? She looked more like she was waiting for someone. 0

Who was she waiting for? 0

"How did you know she would appear?" Su Jin'er asked softly, her eyes fixed on the scene below. 0

"Have you never doubted Ruan Hongmei's appearance?" 0

His words were like a bucket of cold water, instantly chilling her to the bone. She had never dared to think about it; she couldn't imagine that the girl who had been so kind to her from the very beginning had any ulterior motives for approaching her. 0

"You really are naively adorable. Haven't you ever doubted? How could she appear right after Linyuan's death to fill the sudden void left by his loss? And why does she insist that you believe in the Demon? Don't you find that strange?" 0

Su Jin'er sat there in a daze. It wasn't that she didn't have doubts; she simply couldn't bear to think about it. If she didn't even have a trustworthy friend by her side, what was the point of living in this cold world? 0

"I know you don't want to believe it, but you need to see clearly." 0

Then, she saw a figure in black clothing appear next to Ruan Hongmei, who immediately sprang up like a spring and stood respectfully to one side, bowing to the newcomer. 0

Another person in black? 0

"Who is this person?" 0

From the back, it appeared to be a man, and he was quite thin, his entire body wrapped in black clothing making him seem even more frail. Wouldn't such a person appearing at school during the day attract attention? 0
