The ward fell into a heavy silence, and everyone felt the weight of the situation. Su Jin'er knew that Captain Xing was under immense pressure as the leader, yet he seemed helpless regarding this case. It was a painful experience for anyone involved. The Killer always committed crimes in the small grove, leaving no footprints and no murder weapon, which was truly frustrating.
Zuo Yi glanced at the clock and said, "It's almost eight o'clock; I bet no one has eaten yet! I'll go get some food for everyone!"
The atmosphere was so heavy that it was suffocating. Zuo Yi mentioned that he could hardly stand the smell of disinfectant in the ward. He didn't particularly like hospitals, yet he had chosen to study medicine—something no one would believe if he told them.
Although Su Jin'er had no appetite, she knew she had to eat, especially with many tasks awaiting her. If her health deteriorated, she wouldn't be able to accomplish anything.
Thinking of this, she smiled and said, "I want some soy milk."
Hearing Su Jin'er take the initiative to ask for food, Chu Feifan happily expressed what he wanted to eat, and then Zuo Yi and Jiang Jie went out to buy meals.
After they left, Su Jin'er looked at the still-silent Captain Xing and suddenly asked, "Captain Xing, about Ruan Hongmei's body..."
Captain Xing paused for a moment before understanding her question and sighed. "Her parents are still unable to accept their daughter's sudden death, so they haven't allowed the dissection. However, their attitude has improved recently; they should agree soon." After a brief pause, he continued, "But I remember you mentioned that Zuo Yi and Ruan Hongmei were engaged as children. I asked her parents about it, and they said there was no engagement. What's going on?"
"Does this matter relate to the case?"
"I'm not sure; I think it might be connected because I've always felt that Ruan Hongmei's intentions in getting close to you weren't pure. Even if she came with good intentions initially, don't you find it strange how nice she was to you from the start?"
Su Jin'er tilted her head and smiled at Captain Xing. "How do you know all this?"
Captain Xing shrugged. "Isn't it obvious? Someone is quite concerned about Ruan Hongmei's motives for approaching you. At first, it seemed like she treated you well without crossing any lines; it appeared genuine. So someone relaxed their guard around her. But even though on the surface she's treated as a friend, there's always been caution in their heart!"
Su Jin'er glanced at Chu Feifan, who was looking down thoughtfully, then after a moment said, "She has indeed been very kind to me since she came to our dormitory. When I had a fever, she even braved the rain to buy me medicine and breakfast. How many people would do that for someone they just met?"
"So you were touched and let your guard down around her, right?"
Su Jin'er nodded.
"So, you're hiding something from us, right? Because you don't want to suspect her at all?"
Su Jin'er widened her eyes in surprise. After a moment, she sighed and said, "Alright! I do have something to hide, but I feel like it doesn't really matter! Maybe it's just her prank!"
"You once said that you frequently heard knocking on your dorm room door, and when you opened it, no one was there. Then you would see a girl in white. Have you considered the connection between these events? I think you already know who is responsible for the knocking, but you refuse to link the two incidents together or even mention it. This will only hinder the investigation."
Captain Xing's tone carried a hint of reproach. Su Jin'er lowered her head and said, "Yes, I... I just don't want to believe that her intentions for approaching me are impure."
"You are too trusting of others. If I hadn't thought to check your dorm room, I would never have discovered any of this, including your concealment regarding the dormitory manager."
Su Jin'er looked at Captain Xing in shock. "You found out?"
"Yes, although you got rid of those clothes, there's always a flaw in perfection. You're just too kind-hearted."
"I..." She took a deep breath and said, "Alright! I'll tell you everything I know."
"I don't know when the dormitory manager started taking my underwear, but I thought it was just her personal perverse hobby. Plus, if I spoke out about it, it would damage my reputation, so I kept silent and just disposed of the clothes she took. However, regarding Ruan Hongmei's situation, I simply hadn't figured it out yet, and there was too little evidence to say anything. After all, casually suspecting my classmates is not a good thing."

Captain Xing smiled as she spoke.
At that moment, Zuo Yi and Jiang Jie returned with food.
"What are you guys talking about? Why does the atmosphere seem so heavy?"
Jiang Jie asked as he placed the prepared dishes on the table.
"Let's discuss the case!" Su Jin'er replied with a smile, feeling a bit hungry.
"Alright, let's put that damn case aside for now and eat!" Chu Feifan moved his somewhat stiff body, wincing in pain; even a slight movement hurt.
"Just stay still and eat slowly," Jiang Jie said as he set up the dining table beside his bed.
"By the way, Zuo Yi, did you call your family to confirm if they ever arranged a marriage for you?" Su Jin'er asked while sipping her soy milk.
Now she had to set aside her personal feelings; otherwise, this case would never be resolved.
"I did. They did arrange one, but my father said it was just a joke. Besides, our families haven't been in contact for nearly ten years, so we don't know what's happening on either side. My dad also said that if the Ruan Family comes asking for marriage, he won't agree."
"Oh..."
Everyone gasped in surprise; so that's how it was!
"But Ruan Hongmei mentioned she had seen your photo! And doesn't your family have that picture?"
"I don't know about that. My dad said they have never been to our house."

"Maybe I should meet her parents."
"No way! You'd better not go. Her parents are quite upset; someone must have told them you might be their daughter's killer. They're looking for you right now!"

Captain Xing looked helpless.
The ward suddenly fell silent, with no one speaking, just quietly eating.
"The patient Chu Feifan needs to take his medicine!" The nurse's voice was like thunder, startling them so much that they almost spat out their food.
"Hey! There are so many people in your ward, why is it so quiet?" The nurse asked as she placed the medication down and took Chu Feifan's temperature.
Chu Feifan awkwardly let the nurse take his temperature. He felt embarrassed because this nurse had always taken care of him and often seemed to take advantage of him, constantly staring at his face.
This time, while taking his temperature, the nurse unexpectedly pressed her hand directly on his chest, causing his face to turn bright red.
"Fortunately, no fever. Let me see how your wound is healing."
Then she smiled and said, "Being healthy makes a difference; your wound is healing well. Alright, you can rest now! And if you all have nothing else to do, you can leave! The patient needs peace."
After saying that, she gave a meaningful glance at Su Jin'er.
"What kind of nurse is this?" Zuo Yi said with a pout. "Taking advantage of the patient; I want to file a complaint against her."
Chu Feifan helplessly replied, "A complaint? That's ridiculous; she's a nurse! If you want to complain, who would still want to be a doctor?"
In reality, it was all just a joke; no one took it seriously.
However, Su Jin'er had not relaxed in her heart. She was still thinking about Ruan Hongmei. If the two families really hadn't been in contact for nearly ten years, how did Ruan Hongmei know about her marriage with Zuo Yi? Moreover, since coming here, she had never shown much interest in Zuo Yi but had been very nice to herself. This puzzled her—could it be that she was a lesbian?
As soon as the thought crossed her mind, she immediately dismissed it, mocking herself for thinking inappropriately.
"By the way, where is Gaya?"

He must be exhausted. However, what impressed her even more than Gaya Ze was the school leadership. But why were Ruan Hongmei's parents causing a scene at the police station instead of at the school?
