Lin Yuan returned to the medical clinic, where the doctor examined him and found that his injuries were quite serious. There were external wounds on his arms, and after checking his pulse, it was clear that he had internal injuries as well. The doctor quickly wrote a prescription and instructed him to rest in bed, stating that he should not get out for at least three days.

The two sisters rushed back home.
Seeing his sisters return to support him, Wang Duo became even more dramatic, crying and lamenting that he couldn't afford to lose face. The family had been passing down the only child for generations, and it was only when their parents were in their forties that they had this precious little one. Spoiled beyond reason, they could only turn a blind eye to his antics. Now that the younger brother was nearly twenty, strong and burly, no one had even mentioned marriage.
When the sister returned home, Wang Duo burst into tears. "I like a girl, but some man is interfering. If you don't help me, I might as well not live!"
The sister dismissed him, saying, "How many girls have you liked? Which one is worth this? If someone is interfering, just find another!"
Wang Duo retorted angrily, "I'm telling you, I will marry no one but her!"
The two sisters were curious. "What kind of girl is she?"
After Wang Duo described Mei Shuang, the sisters were taken aback. "Are you talking about the Celestial Maiden? Is there such a person in Wang Guantun?"
"She doesn't look local," Wang Duo wiped his tears.
"From Yangzhou Prefecture?"
"Not quite."
"Call the steward; I want to ask him." Wang Yin, the concubine of the Yangzhou Prefect, instructed.
The steward entered with a look of distress on his face and reported on the situation. He concluded with, "Miss, I really don't know where those people came from. From their accents, they seem to be from the capital. They spoke so harshly to Zheng Yi's girls; it was quite something!"
"I asked about that girl," Wang Yin interrupted impatiently.
"Ah?!" The steward quickly replied, "I just inquired about her. She is also from out of town, with an unclear background. She is only temporarily staying in Wang Guantun and works as a teacher in Little Wang Village, which is less than ten miles from here..."
"A teacher?" Wang Yin frowned. "Is she that impressive?"
"I've heard she is not only beautiful but also kind-hearted. She lets all the village children attend school for free and even provides meals for poor children... Hehe, I think it's a blessing for the young master to have taken a liking to her..."
Wang Duo perked up immediately, asking, "Where is she?"
"Uh?" The butler patted his chest. "I just sent someone to clean up and go to her house. As soon as she returns, she won't be able to escape."
Wang Duo's initial grumbling turned into a comfortable hum, making his sister shoot him a glare. "Look at you, acting like a bear. You hum like a pig; it seems you'll spend your life herding pigs!"
Wang Yin, being well-informed and composed, instructed the butler, "When you go, don't startle her. Just say I want to invite her for tea."
She emphasized the word "invite," and the butler immediately understood, nodding eagerly. "Understood, Miss. Rest assured, we won't be rough..."

Mei Shuang returned home only to find her doorstep surrounded by many people, all parents of her students.
Seeing Mei Shuang back, they hurriedly approached her with questions.
Mei Shuang felt deeply moved and urged everyone to go back, saying she didn't want to involve them.
"What did Teacher Shen say? You treat the kids so well; how can you not care after this happened? Teacher Shen didn’t mind and even hid at my relative's house for a while..."

They could only split into two groups and chase after her.
Meanwhile, the young ladies from the capital visiting the Flower God were excitedly descending the mountain. They gathered at the clubhouse for dinner and prepared to enjoy the Flower God lanterns by the river.
Due to Li Chun's performance, the young ladies brought down a branch of apricot blossoms from the Flower God tree and discussed their plans for the evening.
The manager brought out some exquisite lanterns—some were umbrella-shaped, others hexagonal, adorned with intricate figures, flowers, and even rare birds and beasts. Each person selected their favorite lantern to hold tightly in their hands.
After dinner, the young ladies cheered as they boarded carriages to head to the riverside.
Although Li Chun couldn't forget about the injured Lin Yuan, she was compelled by the young ladies who insisted on taking her along for their noble endeavor.
After Li Chun left, Lin Yuan discreetly avoided everyone. A little servant sent to gather information returned with news that the place where the teacher worked had been turned upside down and was now empty.
Lin Yuan felt increasingly anxious; it seemed like he was about to be captured!
With pain and a headache, he was completely dazed.
Fortunately, that little rascal went out for a moment and returned to say that the beautiful teacher had actually run away long ago, but it was uncertain where she had gone or if she had been caught.

The inn became busy again.

Although she had heard Lin Yuan mention their local inn's reception area, she absolutely could not go there.
Riding at full speed, dusk began to fall. Looking back, she had no idea where she had arrived.
It was still one of those quaint little towns in Jiangnan, with ancient-style buildings, cobblestone paths, and the fragrance of flowers and birdsong that enchanted her. Smoke rose from every household, and Mei Shuang felt increasingly hungry.
The two buns she had for lunch did nothing to solve her hunger. She had given her silver notes to the villagers of Little Wang Village and only had a few coins left to buy some inedible lamb soup.
Alas, even a small amount of money can stump a hero; was she really going to have to beg?
Mei Shuang led the horse forward listlessly. Occasionally passing by small shops, the enthusiastic smiles and greetings from the waitstaff made her hesitant to look up. Sigh, the feeling of being broke really made her feel small.
The aroma of food wafted through the air, reminding her of the astronomical amount on the banknote Lin Yuan had given her. She swallowed hard, gazing helplessly at the sky. Damn it, who would have thought that she, who was now begging for food, should actually be a wealthy woman worth millions!
After awkwardly declining the waiter's enthusiastic invitation to dine inside once again, she plopped down on the steps in front of a restaurant, too exhausted to get up.
The waiter finished attending to other customers and suddenly noticed her, puzzled. "Miss, why aren't you coming inside?"
Mei Shuang shrugged. "I didn't bring any money when I left home; I'm waiting for my family to send some."
The waiter sized her up. Dressed in dark clothing, she didn't seem like someone from a noble family. However, seeing her lead a horse and noticing her delicate features and graceful demeanor, she didn't look like someone who would take advantage of others either. Besides, she was carrying a bundle on her back.
After thinking for a moment, he said readily, "Come inside; maybe your family will arrive after you've finished eating..."
Upon hearing this, Mei Shuang felt relieved and without hesitation handed the horse over to the waiter before entering to order food.
She was truly starving after this journey and devoured a large portion of food like a whirlwind before finally feeling somewhat revitalized. The next problem was how to settle the bill.
