Lo An Lord listened to their conversation and couldn't help but nod inwardly, murmuring, "I see. This Little One may be young, but she understands quite a lot! It seems the people of Ling Mountain truly live up to their reputation." As he thought of Ling Mountain, his mind immediately drifted to the Snow Spirit Fox that had been resting on Little One's shoulder last night. He then wondered why Beloved Daughter and her Nursemaid had appeared so late in the back mountains outside the city.
He couldn't help but ask, "Bing Bing, why were you and Nursemaid out in the Purple Bamboo Forest so late last night?"
Luo Bingbing lazily glanced at him and replied sarcastically, "Isn't it because of your dear princess and her Peacock Daughter? They injured Nursemaid's tendons and left her barely breathing. If I hadn't sensed something was wrong and rushed back, Nursemaid would have been done for." As she spoke, she shot a fierce glare at her so-called Lord Father.
After a brief pause, Luo Bingbing continued, "This Prince Luo's Residence is not safe. If I stayed here to treat Nursemaid, not only would her life be in danger, but mine would be at risk too. Besides, how easy is it to treat a severed tendon? I practice every night in the Purple Bamboo Forest outside the city, so I'm familiar with the area. That's why I took Nursemaid there for treatment."
Once Luo Bingbing finished speaking, she casually rolled her eyes at them. Lo An Lord was closest to her and received her eye roll first; however, he paid no mind to Beloved Daughter's gesture and quickly adopted a fatherly demeanor, asking, "You weren't at the residence then? Where did you go?"
"I just went out for a stroll and took care of some matters," Luo Bingbing replied nonchalantly.
"What matters?"
"Well, I can't tell you that just yet. When the time comes, I'll naturally let you know."
Though Luo Bingbing spoke lightly, her words struck like thunder in the ears of her so-called Lord Father and Strategist Gongsun Ming, violently resonating in their hearts.
Lo An Lord thought: Poor child! With such a small frame, how much strength must she have used to carry Nursemaid into that bamboo forest? No wonder she was so angry with her mother and her clueless sister.
As a father, his first concern was for his Beloved Daughter; however, that scale seemed a bit off!
Strategist Gongsun Ming was equally shocked by her words. First, he was astonished that Nursemaid's tendons were severed yet she could help Nursemaid recover so quickly. Secondly, he marveled at how such a small girl could manage to carry someone as large as Nursemaid into the Purple Bamboo Forest. He sighed inwardly; impressive indeed! The people of Ling Mountain truly lived up to their reputation. But where was that Snow Spirit Fox?
He couldn't help but ask aloud, "Little Princess, where is your Snow Spirit Fox? Why isn't it with you?"
"It's sleeping in the courtyard."
Hearing their conversation, Lo An Lord looked at the Little One in his arms and slowly asked, "Bing Bing, is your master the Snow Spirit Elder?"
Luo Bingbing glanced up at him, knowing he was making assumptions. She decided not to explain and simply gave him a vague answer. "Don't you already have the answer?"
Upon hearing her response, both Lo An Lord and the strategist became even more convinced that Luo Bingbing was indeed the disciple of the Snow Spirit Elder from Ling Mountain. They thought to themselves, no wonder she was so arrogant; at such a young age, she possessed such high martial skills and had the mysterious Ling Mountain as her backing. It would be strange if she weren't arrogant!
Seeing that both of them were lost in thought, Luo Bingbing frowned slightly and said, "You can take your time to think and digest this. I'm going back to my room for a nap." With that, she quickly jumped out of Lo An Lord's embrace without looking back and headed towards the study.
It wasn't until the door slammed shut with a loud bang that Lo An Lord and the strategist returned to their senses. They exchanged glances and fell silent.
After a while, Lo An Lord slowly said, "Gongsun, immediately arrange for people in the army to secretly investigate according to what Bing Bing just mentioned. Find out who the traitor is. Also, arrange for someone to look into what has happened in the Wangfu during this time, especially concerning the Little Princess. Block all news from within the residence immediately, especially from the palace. It's time to clean up this Wangfu."
"Yes, I will follow your orders right away, my lord." Gongsun replied before turning to leave, leaving Lo An Lord alone in deep thought in the study.
Meanwhile, after Consort Luo and Madam Xiang returned to Consort Luo's Azure Water Pavilion, these individuals who harbored deep-seated hatred for Luo Bingbing immediately began discussing which assassins to hire to eliminate her. The consort suggested going to Thousand Gold Gate for assassins, reasoning that since they required a thousand taels of gold to act, their skills must be exceptionally high.
Madam Xiang proposed contacting Night Gate instead, saying that people from there were reliable. A distant relative of hers was familiar with someone there, and their prices were not too steep; most importantly, it was safer.
After considering both Consort Luo's and Madam Xiang's suggestions and discussing further, they decided to first approach the trustworthy Night Gate for assistance. If that didn't work out, they would then turn to Thousand Gold Gate.
Each of them left Consort Luo's room with smiles on their faces, seemingly convinced that Luo Bingbing's days were numbered. They all silently mocked her ignorance, arrogance, and foolishness.
They still believed that Prince Luo's Residence was under their control and that they were still in charge. Little did they know that from the moment Luo Bingbing arrived, things had already begun to change quietly. Their foolishness kept them trapped in their daydreams.
As soon as Luo Bingbing exited Lo An Lord's courtyard, she spotted Nursemaid waiting for her at the gate. She couldn't help but frown and quickened her pace slightly.
From a distance, Nursemaid saw her Little Princess and hurried over. "Little Princess, have you finished talking with the prince?"
Luo Bingbing nodded lightly in response.
"Shall I carry you back now?" the Nursemaid asked again.
Luo Bingbing glanced at the Nursemaid and slowly replied, "Did I not tell you to go rest? Why are you still here waiting for me?"
The Nursemaid smiled shyly and said, "Little Princess, I am not tired and cannot sit still. I also worry that you might not recognize the way, so I waited here for you."
"Alright, let's go back!"
Days passed as the sun and moon exchanged places, and the stars shifted in the sky.
On the surface, Prince Luo's Residence appeared calm and harmonious, but Luo Bingbing knew it was merely a prelude to an impending storm. However, she did not dwell on it; she continued her daily life as usual, doing what she needed to do and seeming quite leisurely.
In fact, this was her most relaxed time at Prince Luo's Residence. The Princess and Madam Xiang were busy plotting their schemes, while Lord Lo An focused on rooting out internal traitors and investigating recent events in the residence. Thus, the entire Prince Luo's Residence was relatively peaceful during this period, even the Peacock Princess, Luo Cai Feng, had become much more subdued.
In the courtyard, the sun shone brightly, flowers bloomed in abundance, and a gentle breeze swept through, causing the flowers to sway and dance as if welcoming distant guests.
Luo Bingbing and the Nursemaid lay under the shade of a tree, claiming to "enjoy a sunbath." Now, Prince Luo's Residence was under her command; she was in charge. The Nursemaid no longer had to work so hard because Luo Bingbing assigned tasks to others. Therefore, she could leisurely accompany Luo Bingbing in basking in the sun. Occasionally, the Snow Spirit Fox would join them for some sunlight as well.
