"Let's go."
Sean Sterling cast a calm glance at Bu, and that look transformed into a warm feeling deep within Bu's heart.
The reason this journey could proceed so smoothly, even making someone as strong-willed as Warren Earl bow his head repeatedly, was entirely due to Sean Sterling's unwavering support. Despite such strong assistance, Bu never uttered a word of thanks, nor did Sean show the slightest impatience, as if the words "thank you" were too heavy for their relationship.
The Aldra Family's residence was vast, with winding paths leading to secluded areas. Bu had lived here for a while and knew well that if he walked at the pace of a common person to find Wendy in the inner courtyard, it would take at least ten minutes.
Just as he pondered this, someone hurriedly approached from the corridor ahead. It was the Yellow-Clad Guardian Elder who had gone to look for Wendy earlier. Bu's eyes lit up, and he quickly glanced behind the elder but saw no sign of the lively figure he often thought about.
"Where is Wendy?" Bu Mei frowned and stepped forward to ask coldly.
"Hmph." The Elder in Yellow snorted at Bu's aggressive questioning and brushed past him to stand before Warren Earl, shaking his head helplessly. "Sister refuses to come. I have tried every means to persuade her, but she will not defy your wishes. She will wait for you to find her."
The Elder in Yellow turned to look at Bu with a complex expression that contained some resentment and continued, "If you cannot reach her or find her, then it will be fate unfulfilled. She will obey Earl Warren Edra and remain in the family but will never marry anyone; if she does marry, it will be a dead man."
"If she marries, it will be a dead man." Hearing this, Bu Xin felt an inexplicable pain in his heart.
He could imagine how much courage it took for Wendy, with her sweet and gentle nature, to say such resolute words. That courage was heavy with a girl's tenderness and fierceness, filled with love and expectation for Bu, leaving him both moved and with an indescribable bitterness.
With a wife like this, what more could a husband ask for?
At that moment, Bu desperately wanted to see Wendy; he urgently wished to see that unforgettable blue hair that lingered deep within his soul—a blue that represented his entire azure sky.
"Take me to her, now! Immediately! Not a second longer!"
Bu nearly roared each word as he grabbed the Elder in Yellow by the arm, his eyes sharp and fierce, as if daring this old man to utter a "no," which would provoke him to violence.
The Elder in Yellow's expression changed dramatically; he couldn't hide his shock as he felt Bu's grip on his arm was so tight it seemed like it could shatter bones. The energy within him felt suppressed at that moment.
"Don't hurt him; he will take you there," Warren Earl said with a sigh as he noticed Bu's agitation. He glanced at Sean Sterling, who remained calm beside him, feeling somewhat helpless.
"Let go of me, I'll take you to find her." As soon as Warren Earl intervened, Elder in Yellow let out a sigh of relief and hurriedly shouted at Bu, fearing that if he continued to be held by the arm, it would be completely ruined.
"You son of a bitch," Bu suddenly released his grip on Elder in Yellow's arm and kicked him hard, nearly breaking his nose.
Hearing the constant reference to "sister" in this world was already uncomfortable, and now someone was shouting about taking him to find her. Wasn't that tarnishing Wendy's pure and kind image? Such people were just asking for trouble.
"You bastard," Elder in Yellow felt a mix of resentment and hatred as he shot a glance at Bu. Not daring to say more, he quickly used his skills to dash forward, willingly playing the subordinate role and leading the way for this difficult master.
Bu was anxious and didn’t even bother to greet Sean Sterling as he activated his skills to keep up.
They took a winding path; Elder in Yellow was eager to show off his speed, running energetically. However, no matter how fast he went, Bu could easily keep up. Whenever Elder in Yellow showed any sign of slowing down, he would feel Bu's foot against his backside. As a result, Elder in Yellow became completely deflated, obediently running with all his might.
"I wonder what kind of freak this kid is; his strength has grown so rapidly. At his age, I wouldn't have stood a chance against even a hundred of him."
Elder in Yellow felt a deep sense of sorrow as his pace gradually slowed. Bu Mei frowned and was about to kick the old man again when he suddenly stopped, sensing something and looking ahead.
Not far ahead, willows swayed gently in the breeze, the wind rustling through them like waves on the sea. A courtyard could be seen quietly nestled among the greenery.
"Uh, she’s right there in that courtyard. The Third Lady has already gone over to accompany her," Elder in Yellow reminded him. Perhaps because he had just been inexplicably scolded by Bu, he was now quite wary of mentioning "sister."
The wind blew softly, carrying the fresh scent of willow branches. In that moment, Bu's anxious heart suddenly calmed down.
He could hear his own heartbeat slowly syncing with that of the person waiting for him in the distance. This connection felt intoxicating, as if it were destined; they were meant to be together.
Bu closed his eyes and smiled slightly.
Just seven days had passed for him, but it felt like seven years in a daze. He wouldn’t think about what would happen if Peak Showdown failed or if he didn’t win Sean Sterling’s favor. He wouldn’t ponder whether he could return here again or if Anran would take Wendy away. He wouldn’t think about these things because in his heart, there was already an answer—a firm answer that was heavier than any promise.
Following that inexplicable guidance within him, Bu stepped forward to find the blue-haired woman who awaited him like a dream.
Elder in Yellow quietly stood still watching and chose not to follow. At this moment, Bu had proven much by reaching this point; at least Warren Earl acknowledged him—whether that acknowledgment was forced or voluntary didn’t matter. The Aldra Family had compromised this time, albeit reluctantly.
In the courtyard, as Bu walked to this spot, he unexpectedly encountered a person with blue hair, exuding beauty mixed with a touch of maturity. Her gaze towards him was filled with complexity.
“Third Lady,” Bu paused and respectfully placed his hand on his chest in greeting.
The Aldra Family, aside from a few individuals, did not evoke any ill feelings in Bu, especially not this Enchanting Woman before him, who was Wendy's mother. Unlike Warren Earl, who was ruthless and calculating in every matter, this woman had never made things difficult for him. If she had ever done so, it was only for Wendy, for her own daughter.
Hearing Bu call her Third Lady, the Enchanting Woman's eyes reflected even more complexity. With a soft sigh, she spoke, “I didn’t expect you to truly reach this point, to attain a level that even Warren must bow to. My words of caution back then were perhaps in vain; I just wanted to see Wendy find her own happiness. That is also my happiness as a mother. I hope you will treat her well in the future and remember to bring her back to visit often.”
Bu Chenmo paused for a moment and solemnly nodded. “I will.”
These simple three words were spoken with sincerity because he had already made a promise to Wendy in his heart.
“From now on, you don’t need to call me Third Lady anymore.”
Looking at Bu’s serious expression, the Enchanting Woman suddenly shook her head and smiled lightly.
Bu was taken aback for a moment before realizing it and quickly mustered the courage to say, “Auntie.”
This heartfelt address was different from the polite formality he used when addressing Warren Earl.
“Alright, go on. Wendy is inside.”
The Enchanting Woman nodded with a smile and waved her hand, signaling that Bu could pass.
“Then I shall…”
“Go on, go on.”
Bu smiled gently and suddenly felt that this mother-in-law he had never had the chance to interact with was much more endearing than Warren Earl's cheap father-in-law.
As he looked ahead, he unexpectedly spotted a pair of shy yet expectant eyes peeking out from behind the curtains of the window. It seemed that upon noticing Bu’s smiling gaze, the owner of those eyes let out a soft cry and quickly pulled down the curtain to hide from his stare.
"Ha ha." Brent chuckled, unable to contain his longing any longer, and hurried toward the room.
With a creak, just as Brent reached out to push open the door, he found it had already been pulled open. Wendy stood behind the door, her blue eyes shimmering with a bright luster as she gazed at Brent with an infatuated look.
"Brent."
Her voice was distant, like a dream, carrying a sense of tranquility. Wendy's eyes unconsciously reddened as she softly murmured and suddenly threw herself into Brent's arms, holding him tightly.
"You should be smiling when you see me, Girl. I've only been gone for seven days, and you look like this. How can I ever feel at ease leaving you behind?" Brent's heart stirred as he inhaled the faint fragrance of Wendy's hair, gently patting her back.
"I was so scared, scared that you wouldn't come back. My father told me I could never see you again. I was so afraid. Until today, when my father suddenly ordered me not to step out of the room, I realized you must have returned. But I was still so scared that my father's forever would truly become forever."
Wendy's words carried a hint of helplessness, and the tears that had gathered in her eyes could no longer be held back as they streamed down her cheeks. She tightened her grip around Brent, as if fearing that if she didn't hold on tightly enough, he would disappear in the next moment and everything would turn out to be just a beautiful dream from which she would awaken.
"Silly Girl, look at me. I'm standing right here in front of you, aren't I? I'll take you away; I promise I'll come back."
Seeing Wendy's frail and helpless state made Brent's heart ache suddenly. He felt a surge of self-loathing for having been so weak before, weak enough to be trampled by Warren Earl and leave Wendy in constant fear.
Fortunately, he had come back in time, preventing Wendy from worrying any longer, stopping Warren Earl's forever from becoming a reality, and avoiding death at Hawk's hands after the Peak Showdown. Instead, he returned triumphantly with honor.
