"Um, Senior Sister, do you know Van Lao?" After thinking for a moment, Bu decided to clarify which sect the strange old man belonged to first.
"Van Lao?" Candice paused her steps and turned her head to look down at Bu with a strange expression. "Why would you ask about Van Lao? You wouldn't..." Candice's expression became even more peculiar, and within that peculiarity was a kind of pity that Bu couldn't comprehend. "I see now; you must be the new recruit who was forced by Van Lao to join Primordial Hall yesterday."
"Uh." Raising his head slightly, Bu looked at Candice's expression and listened to her words, gradually feeling an ominous sense growing in his heart. He recalled what Sean Sterling had mentioned before: joining Primordial Hall, Van Lao wouldn't mistreat him, but a bit of torment was unavoidable.
"I am. It's because I agreed to Van Lao's request that I came to join Primordial Hall. Senior Sister, is there a problem?" Bu asked with wide eyes filled with confusion and innocence, his tone somewhat tentative.
"Ahahaha, no problem at all! It's just that after yesterday's events, due to some people's exaggerated remarks, even though you haven't officially joined our Primordial Hall yet, your reputation here is quite something. After all, it's rare for someone to be personally invited by Van Lao," Candice said with a forced smile, her red lips revealing her teeth. However, the corners of her eyes clearly lacked any trace of amusement as she spoke while avoiding Bu's probing gaze, as if hiding something or perhaps some things were not meant to be casually revealed even by someone as bold and generous as she was.
"Really?" Bu Shuang's eyes widened as he dragged out the word in disbelief.
"Cough cough, of course! Oh, junior brother, I just remembered I have something urgent to attend to. The Freshman Reception is just ahead; you should go on ahead by yourself. Ahahaha, sorry about that!" Candice awkwardly patted Bu on the shoulder twice. Her face was now tinged with two shades of red, and without another word, she turned and left.
"Hey, Senior Sister..." Bu raised his hand and opened his mouth.
"No need to see me off, junior brother. We'll catch up another day," Candice said as she quickened her pace without looking back.
"No, Senior Sister! I'm—"
"Junior brother, don't say those things out loud. I know that every man who meets me will deeply fall for me, but I could never accept you," Candice's voice echoed from a distance.
"Damn it! I mean, you still haven't told me which sect Van Lao belongs to!" Bu couldn't hold back any longer; veins bulged on his forehead as he shouted. But Candice's figure had long since disappeared.
"Sigh, I've been tricked. This Candice Senior Sister seems not as simple-minded as she appears; she's quite clever," Bu sighed deeply. Feeling frustrated yet somewhat melancholic, he turned toward the direction of the Freshman Reception.
The area belonging to Primordial Hall seemed oddly peculiar; walking through it felt like being inside a furnace. The oppressive heat was ever-present. Occasionally encountering a few students who hurried past him without acknowledging his greetings made him feel even more isolated; those who did respond often did so with disdainful snorts and an attitude that screamed "keep your distance."
Bu Yue grew increasingly frustrated; now he found himself reminiscing about Candice’s kindness—at least that tough girl could chat with him a bit. Compared to the students he encountered afterward, each one seemed so full of themselves that they might as well have "no unsolicited inquiries" tattooed on their foreheads!
"Ugh!" He spat on the ground in frustration; it quickly evaporated in the furnace-like heat. Wiping the sweat from his forehead, he felt stifled. "What kind of hellhole is this? The place is bizarre, and so are the people! Primordial Hall should just be named BBQ Restaurant; it's winter and I'm sweating like crazy! If I stay here too long, I'll turn into charcoal."
Zheng Si was pondering when a pyramid-like red building appeared ahead, and he could vaguely see some figures moving inside.
Bu Spirit quickened his pace towards the building, but after a moment, he paused, his gaze falling on his arm. At that moment, his skin was scorched by the high temperature, turning slightly red, and sweat seeped from his pores, evaporating quickly and leaving mottled sweat stains. This sweat was not the typical white salt from the human body but mixed with some grayish-black substance.
"This temperature is unusual; it's caused by the peculiarities of the Primordial Hall area."
Bu's eyes flickered with both joy and confusion. Only now did he realize that the longer he stayed in this peculiar area of the Primordial Hall, the more he endured the high temperatures, which gradually refined his physical body. This refinement was akin to washing away impurities from skin to muscles to blood to bone marrow, slowly expelling toxins that were hard to eliminate through sweat, achieving a body refining effect.
"Indeed, this is the Primordial Hall. No wonder the students here are all physically robust. Being in such an environment constantly is equivalent to being in a state of continuous refinement. Surely, this peculiarity must be a result of some grand formation."
Bu slowly clenched his fists and took a deep breath. In just this short time, he felt his body had become somewhat stronger. Although it wasn't obvious, this vague feeling was gradually becoming clearer over time. However, under such high temperatures, like being scorched under the blazing sun, despite feeling an endless vitality in his body, he couldn't hide the mental fatigue. As a vampire, he found this environment particularly unbearable, but fortunately, it didn't cause any substantial harm.
"I should take care of things first." With that thought, Bu swiftly moved towards the pyramid-like red building.
"Hello, I am a new student at the academy and would like to join the Primordial Hall."
Inside the pyramid-shaped Freshman Reception area, Bu Mo stood silently in line among a crowd of people. In front of him was another newcomer who was currently handing over an Identity Token to a middle-aged man at the podium.
Upon entering this pyramid-shaped Freshman Reception area, Bu noticed many people gathered here, most of whom were new students looking to join the Primordial Hall. His arrival attracted some attention; however, upon realizing they did not know him, they quickly lost interest and no one approached him for conversation.
Competition exists everywhere in the world. Although it wasn't overtly apparent within Holy Light Academy, everyone was well aware of it. Thus, the indifference among students wasn't solely due to their personalities; rather, it stemmed from a subconscious competitive hostility. When they sensed someone else's strength far exceeded their own, many wise individuals chose to ingratiate themselves with those stronger than them.
For instance, Bu noticed two individuals who stood out: one male and one female. The male was handsome while the female had an ordinary appearance but exuded a unique noble aura that highlighted her exceptional qualities.
What drew attention was their immense strength. Whether intentional or not, the powerful energy waves emanating from their bodies caught many eyes. A discerning observer could tell they were top-tier experts with over thirty acupoints opened within them. They showed no restraint in displaying their strength, which attracted many who wished to befriend them.
"Brother Fader, with your strength joining the Primordial Hall, you will surely become one of its outstanding new students. Please take care of me in the future; if you ever need anything, I will go through fire and water for you."
"Yes! Brother Fader is so young yet possesses such formidable strength; I imagine you won't take long to reach Intermediate Level 4. I'm truly fortunate to meet someone as remarkable as you."
Amidst the crowd came some flattering remarks that made the handsome man appear pleased as he unconsciously glanced towards the ordinary-looking yet noble-spirited woman beside him as if provoking her.
The woman seemed unaware of Fader's gaze; however, some of those surrounding her couldn't hold back and began shouting provocatively.
"Even before officially joining the Primordial Hall, some people are already daydreaming. Not to mention our sister Catherine's strength, just her reputation alone is enough. Just yesterday, she defeated a senior from Greed Wolf Hall named Brent. Some people just can't compare."
"Hmph, that's right. Brent is someone even sister Catherine admires. Some people shouldn't be so arrogant and underestimate a hero."
"Hey, who do you think you are? Say that again."
"Alright, Fellow, daring to speak like that in front of Brother Fader, I think you're looking for trouble."
"Did I offend you? Am I pointing at your face? Who do you think you are? Do I know you?"
Bu Ku laughed, scratching his nose. He found these two groups quite amusing, especially the one with Catherine, who was shouting her name loudly while he was right there, yet no one recognized him. It seemed he had been too low-key.
"Enough noise, everyone shut up!"
The two groups glaring at each other showed signs of wanting to fight, but at that moment, the middle-aged man at the podium exploded with anger. A powerful aura surged from him, instantly silencing the argument. The overwhelming pressure from a Level 5 Intermediate powerhouse left everyone in shock.
"What incredible strength! This middle-aged man is probably a senior from the Primordial Hall, and his status must be significant. If he hadn't deliberately revealed his power, no one would have known how deep his strength really is." Bu's pupils constricted slightly as he unconsciously became more respectful. After the new student before him finished recording the information and retreated nervously, he quickly stepped forward.
