"Die!"
In the arena, Ivan's gaunt face twisted in rage as he shouted, his short sword gleaming with light as he crazily struck at the chest of the Jet Black Puppet, one blow after another, producing deafening roars.
The Energy Core of an Alchemical Puppet is typically located in the chest area. As long as the Energy Core is shattered, the Alchemical Puppet loses its source of power and becomes a pile of scrap metal. Ivan clearly understood this, so he seized the opportunity to attack the Jet Black Puppet's chest without hesitation. However, given the strength of his attacks, he was unable to inflict any real damage.
The Jet Black Puppet was made of an unknown material, resembling both metal and stone, and was incredibly hard throughout its body. The chest area housing the Energy Core was the most heavily fortified part of its entire structure. Even though Ivan's frenzied assault could tear through a steel plate, when it struck the Jet Black Puppet's chest, it only produced sparks without leaving a single dent, let alone shattering the Energy Core inside.
Ivan reacted quickly; despite being driven to madness, he did not lose his composure. Upon realizing that his attacks could not cause any substantial harm to the puppet, he shifted his focus and aimed his short sword at the gaps in the joints of the Jet Black Puppet's limbs.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
At that moment, the Jet Black Puppet, bound and lying on the ground, began to struggle violently. The massive blades in its hands suddenly swung toward itself and came crashing down with reckless abandon, willing to risk injuring itself just to attack Ivan.
Ivan's gaze sharpened as he prepared to dodge, but a flash of insight stopped him in his tracks. His expression hardened as he braced himself for a desperate fight.
Whoosh! The dark dual blades descended with an unstoppable momentum, their edges shimmering with light and exuding overwhelming energy. This strike possessed true Intermediate power; even a warrior of equal strength would sustain serious injuries upon contact.
"Ah!" Amy exclaimed in shock, unable to bear watching and covering her eyes.
"Is this guy crazy? If he doesn't get out of the way, he'll be cut in half."
"The elder won't just stand by; they'll definitely intervene at the last moment to save him. But this assessment will surely end in failure."
The crowd stirred restlessly, many seemingly foreseeing Ivan's impending defeat.
The light in Step's eyes flickered as he guessed Ivan's intentions. He was not in a hurry; instead, he quietly observed as the fierce dual blades descended rapidly. Just as they were about to make contact with Ivan, he suddenly crouched down, a layer of light membrane appearing around him. He rolled away just in time, narrowly avoiding this life-threatening strike.
Boom! Boom! Two explosive sounds echoed. One was from the dual blades of Jet Black Puppet crashing into its own chest due to a lack of control, while the other was the sound of Ivan's protective light membrane shattering. He staggered backward, coughing up blood, his body trembling violently, already severely injured.
"Wow, he actually escaped this disaster using such a method. How lucky."
"He's also quite reckless; otherwise, who would dare to gamble like that at such a critical moment? Did you see how the protective light membrane was only grazed by the dual blades before it shattered? If it had hit directly, he would have been seriously hurt."
"This must be his last resort. With only three minutes left, he probably won't last until the end."
Ivan's desperate actions astonished many. A smile gradually appeared on Step's face. With three minutes remaining and the energy ropes binding Alchemical Puppet and the giant python still intact, Ivan just needed to seize this moment to enter Stealth. Surviving the final three minutes shouldn't be too difficult.
Things were progressing smoothly, and Ivan did not disappoint Step. The chest of Jet Black Puppet was caved in, radiating strong energy fluctuations as it struggled to break free from its bindings. Before it could fully rise, Ivan seized this brief moment to enter Stealth, his body suddenly vanishing from sight, causing an uproar.
"He is a thief."
"Huh? How come this Fellow, who clearly possesses Quasi-Mid-Level strength, is so weak in combat? Turns out he's a thief—what a foolish thief to engage directly with an enemy."
The Outer Sect Elder was also somewhat surprised and couldn't help but glance twice at a certain spot within the battle circle. The effect of Ivan's Stealth was completely undetectable to him.
In the last three minutes, after Jet Black Puppet got back on its feet, only two minutes remained. Ivan, standing still in Stealth, had completely entered a state of invisibility.
The Alchemical Puppet, despite having energy, lacked any Mental Power sensing ability and could not accurately locate Ivan. However, with its strength reaching the level of Intermediate, and given the difference in their levels, as long as Ivan had not stepped into the Intermediate realm, he could not completely escape its tracking with Stealth, even if the target was somewhat vague.
Clang! Clang! Clang! The battle horn sounded once more. The Jet Black Puppet, full of momentum, showed no signs of weakness despite its caved-in chest. In contrast, Ivan, having exhausted all means and severely injured, could only rely on the effects of Stealth to hold on desperately.
Two minutes felt extremely long for Ivan, even though it was a short duration. Blood continuously spilled from the corners of his mouth as he endured the intense pain within him, maintaining silence while moving. The Jet Black Puppet relentlessly pursued him; although it could not accurately determine his position, its massive body and wildly sweeping dual blades nearly forced Ivan to reveal himself several times.
In the end, the Jet Black Puppet seemed to go berserk. The Energy Core surged with immense energy, and with each swing of its blades, countless sharp light blades were unleashed, covering the entire battlefield.
Under such dense attacks, Ivan could no longer evade. After blocking several light blades, his Stealth effect was broken, and his body reappeared.
Suddenly, Ivan's figure emerged in the arena. The Jet Black Puppet's frenzied assault paused momentarily as it locked onto its target and charged forward. Its dual blades were raised high and swung downwards, sending two half-meter-long light blades slicing through the ground directly towards Ivan.
Ivan grimaced in despair; he had exhausted all means at his disposal. Even his last life-saving skill, Stealth, had been broken. Now severely injured, he had no ability left to continue.
Clang! The two half-meter light blades were intercepted by Ivan's short sword. A tremendous force struck him, causing Ivan to spit blood again as his short sword flew out of his hand. His body was hurled backward and crashed heavily near the edge of the battlefield.
The Jet Black Puppet did not stop its advance; its massive black foot lifted high and stomped down towards Ivan. Boom! Debris flew as it struck the ground, cutting across Ivan's cheek and leaving him bleeding profusely.
Bu Mei furrowed her brow and glanced at the Outer Sect Elder nearby. He had been silently counting the time; now, ten minutes had passed, signaling the end of the assessment.
Boom! The ground trembled again as Ivan screamed in agony; one of his ribs was shattered by a flying rock. Seeing the massive black foot lift once more, his inherent cowardice replaced any fierce determination in his eyes with boundless fear.
"The assessment time is up. You have successfully passed this assessment," declared the Outer Sect Elder.
With that proclamation, the Jet Black Puppet halted its movements. Its massive foot descended, just three inches from Ivan's head. The rushing wind left Ivan pale as he gasped for breath.
"You passed." Bu smiled with relief and turned to Locke: "Go bring Ivan over; he's seriously injured."
Locke nodded and helped Ivan over. Bu tossed a box of Black Lotus Elixir to him so that Ivan could sit down and heal on the spot. Through Ivan's attribute interface, he understood how severe Ivan's injuries were; even with the Black Lotus Elixir for healing, it would take at least several days for him to recover.
After Ivan, Kalandor stepped into the arena, his strength was already impressive, and his combat experience was not lacking. Facing the Intermediate Alchemical Puppet, he did not engage in a direct confrontation but instead relied entirely on his exceptional speed to maneuver around it. Despite the Alchemical Puppet's frenzied pursuit for several minutes, it could not even touch the hem of Kalandor's clothing. The energy blades covering the arena were often shattered by Kalandor's punches, unable to inflict any damage on him.
Although this Alchemical Puppet was classified as Intermediate, its actual combat power was far inferior compared to a true Mid-Level Warrior. If it were a genuine Mid-Level Warrior, Kalandor would only be able to last about ten rounds at most, even if he used all his skills. After all, the gap between levels is quite significant; not everyone can fight above their level like Bu.
Kalandor passed through easily. His handsome appearance and extraordinary speed left a deep impression on many spectators, and several female disciples from the Outer Gate even threw flirtatious glances at him, making Kalandor feel quite pleased.
Following Kalandor, Locke stepped into the arena with a determined expression, not waiting for Bu's instructions.
This battle was brutal, even more perilous than Ivan's fight. There were several moments when Locke nearly lost his life, causing Outer Sect Elder Heart, who had been closely watching the battle, to be on high alert and ready to intervene.
Ten minutes later, Locke emerged from the arena covered in blood. Although his Excellence Level Amplification Gear remained intact, his viscera had been severely injured. Dragging himself out while leaving a trail of blood, he was supported by Amy, who had red-rimmed eyes.
Finally, Gordon took the stage. This dark-skinned boy who was accustomed to silence did not look impressive at first glance. However, the final outcome left everyone astonished, including the Outer Sect Elder. As they watched this boy deliver his ninth strike, transforming it into a massive Greatsword that cleaved through the air, he sent the enormous Jet Black Puppet flying out of the arena. This result caused the Outer Sect Elder's eyes to shine with brilliance and left Bu speechless.
Reynold smiled slightly as if he had anticipated this outcome all along. He watched Gordon walk back slowly; despite looking somewhat pale due to exhaustion, there was a hint of admiration in his gaze.
Thus, all four candidates successfully passed their assessments. However, due to their severe injuries, Ivan and Locke would need several days of recovery. Bu was extremely satisfied with this outcome; his two million Silver Kall had not been wasted at all, resulting in a happy conclusion for everyone involved.
