Facing the woman before him, Reynold's gaze flickered as he smiled and nodded in greeting. When his eyes turned to Hong Lian, they carried a hint of inquiry.
"Regarding this woman, we can discuss it later when we have time. I still have matters to attend to here in Black Abyss Ravine. You and Elena should take Wendy and the others back," Hong Lian said, glancing at Elena and patting Wendy on the shoulder. "As for this incident, I will bear all consequences alone. Senior Sister, I will remember your kindness in assisting me today."
Elena furrowed her brows slightly, gazing deeply at Hong Lian, the shadow of worry still lingering on her face. She spoke softly, "This matter is not your fault, but since you have killed Kathy, you must be prepared to face Kaibo's furious retaliation. Kaibo not only possesses High-Level strength but is also a Golden Mystic Student of the academy and the leader of one of the four Major Forces, Day.
You have killed his brother; he will not let you off easily. I cannot assist you in this matter. When Sean Sterling returns to the academy, please do not mention this to him. Given our identities and abilities, we can only help you conceal this incident but cannot intervene."
"Sister Elena," Wendy exclaimed, taken aback by the severity of the situation. She was about to speak further when Hong Lian interrupted her.
"Rest assured, Senior Sean has treated me well. He has suffered punishment from Judgment Hall because of me and has yet to return. If I were to involve him in this matter again, that would truly be heartless." Hong Lian's expression was serious as she looked at Wendy, stopping her from continuing.
Elena's expression softened slightly after a moment of contemplation. She suddenly remarked, "I don't know what strange secret technique you have employed, but it gives me a sense of danger. Sean Sterling certainly did not misjudge you; however, with your current strength, you are still no match for Kaibo. You only have one opportunity now: to pass the trial of the Path of Holy Light and become one of the three candidates. Only then will the academy take you seriously, and Kaibo will think twice before trying to kill you."
Although Hong Lian resembled Bu in appearance, their temperaments were vastly different. The disparity in strength allowed even a powerful Quasi-Advanced like Elena to sense a hint of threat.
This hint of threat would not be surprising if it came from someone at the peak of Intermediate Level 5; however, if it emanated from Bu, it was quite extraordinary.
Had Elena not been able to clearly sense the life aura belonging to Bu on Hong Lian, she might have thought that Bu had been possessed by some powerful predecessor. But because of the shared life aura, Elena did not harbor any doubts and could only attribute it to some secret technique. Her regard for Bu increased a few notches as she began to admire Sean Sterling's keen eye.
"Senior Sister, don't worry. I will give my all for the Path of Holy Light," Hong Lian said calmly. Though her words were simple and plain, an unmistakable confidence lay beneath them.
Not to mention her current Crimson Lotus Incarnation; even her true self possessed extraordinary combat power and was qualified to compete for one of the three candidate positions. If both her true self and Avatar were present together, seizing the Sun Crystal from Lava King would not be impossible. At that time, reaching the pinnacle of power and standing proudly in the light would mean that even if Kaibo were arrogant and domineering, he would not dare to act against her openly.
Elena lifted her chin slightly and offered a charming smile as her gaze swept over Daisy; a sharp glint flashed briefly in her eyes.
"Brent, there are still more than twenty days until the trial of the Path of Holy Light. For now, you should practice here in Black Abyss Ravine. The dense fog here makes for an excellent hiding place; even if Kaibo learns about Kathy's death, finding you here will be like searching for a needle in a haystack. Moreover, it will be difficult for him to track your movements."
Elena spoke slowly with an assessing look directed at Daisy, causing her face to turn pale instantly under the pressure from a Quasi-Advanced powerhouse. Even without fully unleashing her power, just being under such scrutiny felt like a mountain pressing down on Daisy's spirit.
Reynold's gaze flickered, and upon hearing Elena's words, he looked at Daisy with a hint of something different in his eyes, lost in thought.
"During my time away from the academy, I hope you can take good care of Wendy and the others, Senior Sister Elena." He had originally planned to return to Black Abyss Ravine to explore the strange forest, but now Hong Lian nodded and respectfully bowed to Elena.
"Rest assured, if Kaibo were to vent his personal grievances on them, I would not stand idly by. Just because I cannot intervene directly does not mean that I am easy to bully. I can ensure the safety of those around you," Elena said with a gentle smile, accepting Hong Lian's bow graciously and making a promise.
"Don't worry, Brent. I will listen to Sister Elena and won't let you take risks for me anymore. After returning to the academy this time, I will start practicing magic so that I can help you as soon as possible," Wendy's clear and pleasant voice rang out. Although she showed a hint of reluctance, her words revealed her determination.
"Mm." Hong Lian smiled at the corner of her eyes, feeling gratified by the girl's sudden strength and understanding.
"Go ahead and practice well in Black Abyss Ravine. I've always seen you as my target to catch up with, so don't let me catch up too easily; otherwise, the position of leader will have to belong to me. As for what happens in the academy, I'll inform you through the Transmitter, so you don't need to worry," Reynold added at the end, glancing at Daisy to indicate that he knew what to do.
"By the way," Hong Lian suddenly remembered something and looked up at Elena. "Do you know about Ice Phosphorus Poison?"
"Ice Phosphorus Poison?" Before Elena could respond, Daisy looked at Hong Lian in surprise and gasped.
Hong Lian's gaze sharpened as she recalled that Daisy had an unclear relationship with the deceased second-in-command; it was unlikely that she would have the Antidote for Ice Phosphorus Poison.
"You should know what I want," Hong Lian said calmly, looking steadily at Daisy. Her simple words carried an inherent authority.
"I..." Daisy's eyes darted around as she opened her mouth, unable to resist trying to bargain for some tangible benefits for herself. However, just as she began to speak, she noticed a murderous intent flicker in Hong Lian's eyes. This sudden threat felt like a bucket of cold water poured over her head, instantly waking her up.
"Here." Without hesitation, Daisy took out a thumb-sized pill from a hidden pouch at her waist and handed it to Hong Lian. As she did so, a hint of grievance flashed in her eyes, but this was quickly ignored by Hong Lian.
"You don't seem to show any signs of being affected by Ice Phosphorus Poison; why do you need this Antidote? But I must remind you that when taking this Antidote for Ice Phosphorus Poison, you cannot use energy to refine its potency; it must be absorbed slowly by your body. Only after fully absorbing it can the poison be considered cured."
Elena scrutinized Hong Lian for a moment before huffing softly and ultimately offering a kind reminder.
"Mm, I understand. Thank you," Hong Lian nodded. After looking at everyone once more, she turned and headed into Black Abyss Ravine. Her voice echoed back to them softly, "I will return in twenty days."
"Brother Brent, I will also work hard on my cultivation. When you return, I will officially participate in the Outer Gate assessment." Looking at the figure of Red Lotus gradually disappearing into the mist, Amy's expression was determined as she waved her fist and shouted loudly.
In the Black Abyss Ravine, deep within the eerie forest, there was no wind or sound, only a dead silence. Thick fog enveloped the area, and the cold moonlight could not penetrate the long-accumulated mist to bring any light, leaving only a sense of oppression.
In this oppressive and silent place, a figure swiftly darted through the dense forest. The violent gusts of wind created by its movement caused the trees and branches to sway, producing rustling sounds that broke the silence and brought a hint of life to this forest that had been quiet for countless years.
Bu Mianrong sat quietly at the edge where the dense forest met the Tall Grass field, his eyes closed and his body blending into the mist and the dark night. There were no reflections of shadows, no strands of hair dancing in the wind; everything seemed so quiet, as if time had forgotten to pass through this place, leaving no ripples of age.
After a long while, when some faint rustling sounds came from a distance behind him, Bu Qing slowly opened his eyes. The opening of his eyes revealed a flash of brilliance; in this pitch-black world where one could not see their fingers, it was like the first beam of light breaking through darkness—so obvious and so dazzling.
"Can we begin?" He slowly stood up, a smile curling at the corners of his mouth as he turned to look back.
In his view, the darkness of the world seemed to favor him, as if it were daylight. His vampire nature endowed him with some peculiar abilities, such as being able to see clearly in this darkness. However, this ability was ineffective against the mist; it could not allow his vision to penetrate further.
Not long after, within his line of sight, amidst rolling fog, Red Lotus's figure appeared. With just a single step, she covered a distance of several dozen feet and arrived beside him.
Bu's expression remained calm as he recognized Red Lotus at a glance. His true self and Avatar shared a mental connection. Red Lotus closed her eyes, and her immense Mental Power suddenly extended forward, covering the seemingly endless Tall Grass field ahead.
