The sudden arrival of the Crimson Lotus was completely unexpected for the Three-Eyed Stone Elder within the stone hall. Bound by the limitations of his seal, he rarely had moments of clarity, and each awakening consumed a significant amount of his spiritual consciousness. During his previous awakening, he had thoroughly explored the Water Moon Cave and was aware of the presence of Bu and Eve, which led him to carefully devise a plan.
However, he never anticipated that just as his prey was about to be ensnared and the Heart Seal was about to be imprinted, someone would suddenly appear to disrupt his scheme. This newcomer was extremely cautious; although they appeared furious, they did not recklessly step into the stone hall. As a result, even with his Mind Imprint Technique, he could not extend his consciousness beyond the seal to trigger the Heart Seal.
The furious roar echoed for a long time, resonating within the hall like the tolling of a bell. Bu, who had already reached into Eve's pink wrap, felt as if he had been struck by lightning. His mind buzzed as if jolted awake from a stupor, and the rationality that had been burned away by desire revived once more.
His movements froze as he sensed warnings from the Avatar's consciousness and felt Eve in his arms becoming increasingly disoriented. To his shock, his hand had already slipped into her embrace, touching that soft area which should never have happened under normal circumstances.
"This stone hall—no, that Stone Carving!" Bu suddenly broke free from Eve's entangling arms. His pupils constricted as he gazed ahead at the Three-Eyed Elder Statue, which had opened its Third Eye and was also looking back at him.
At that moment of eye contact, Bu Xin felt a tremendous shock. A chill ran from his tailbone up through his spine; he felt a tingling sensation on his scalp and nearly gasped in terror.
Within the other’s non-human Golden Iris, he saw countless Vengeful Spirits swirling about. Each face was filled with resentment and an attachment to life. Behind these faces were countless threads intertwined together, forming a strange mark deeply imprinted within the pupil of the Three-Eyed Elder Statue. This mark ensured that even in death, their souls would not find release but would be enslaved for eternity until they were utterly dissipated.
Bu inhaled sharply and instinctively took several steps back as a terrifying suspicion made him break out in cold sweat. Although the figure merely stared at him coldly, from its bizarre existence and the Third Eye binding countless Vengeful Spirits, he realized that he had just walked through the gates of hell.
A fragrant breeze wafted over him; soft and warm, Eve clung to him with disheveled clothing, her body glistening with sweat as she breathed heavily against him. Her eyes were hazy, her cheeks flushed, and her ruby lips parted slightly as her tongue playfully licked Bu's cheek—she looked utterly devoid of any rationality.
Although Bu began to grasp the truth of the situation and felt deeply stirred by Eve's advances, he dared not let down his guard when it came to his own life. He swiftly executed a knife-hand strike to Eve's neck, knocking her unconscious.
Just then, an eerie laugh echoed ominously around him as if it emanated from all directions without a clear source. Bu's muscles tensed up instantly; without hesitation, he picked up the unconscious Eve and prepared to dash toward the exit of the stone hall.
"Before you step out of Myriad Law Palace, not only will you die but your friends will die too. Of course, that red-haired boy outside might get lucky and escape."
Before he could take more than a few steps, those threatening words followed closely behind the chilling laughter. Bu froze in place and slowly turned to face the Three-Eyed Elder Statue seated upon the Black Giant Lotus. Suppressing his unease, he cautiously said, "Senior laughs; it is our fault for intruding on your meditation. But with your esteemed status, why must you trouble us? If you have any requests, please feel free to ask; I will do my utmost to fulfill them as an expression of my apology."
The words spoken were filled with an unparalleled humility, as if he had lowered himself to the ground. Under the gaze of the strange, eerie eyes of the Three-Eyed Elder Statue, he felt as if he were completely exposed, a sense of being seen through to his very core made him extremely anxious, causing sweat to bead on his palms and soles.
He was uncertain about the true strength of the Three-Eyed Elder Statue. Although it had not moved an inch and had only opened one eye, this only deepened the mystery surrounding it. The ability to silently influence his consciousness left him feeling like a bull in heat, devoid of reason. This method was both terrifying and awe-inspiring.
"If I die before stepping out of the hall, then one thing is certain: within this stone hall, it has the means to kill me. Regardless of whether this statement is credible or not, I cannot take risks or act impulsively until the very last moment. Moreover, since it did not attack me immediately when I fled, it proves that I hold some value for it. Alternatively, its threat is meant to instill fear in me, compelling me to comply with its wishes. As long as I do not run away, it will not strike."
Thoughts surged through his mind like a tidal wave. In that brief moment, he had already figured out many things. His heart calmed slightly, and the tension in his muscles began to ease.
"You are very clever and perceptive," a cold laugh echoed again. The Third Eye of the Three-Eyed Elder Statue spun around, and the countless Vengeful Spirits imprisoned within its gaze suddenly vanished into the depths of its golden pupils. It stared at Bu and Hong Lian for a while before shifting its gaze towards Hong Lian at the Outer Gate, where she stood on high alert, confusion flickering in its eyes.
After scrutinizing Bu and Hong Lian a few more times, the Three-Eyed Elder Statue's confusion deepened. It could not help but fixate on Bu and asked, "Child, tell me, who is that red-haired Fellow?"
Bu Shuang's heart skipped a beat; he felt an inexplicable tension rise within him. He had already sensed that this elder's gaze was incredibly sharp, as if it could see through one's heart. Now that it posed such a question, he felt something was amiss.
"This old monster suddenly asking this means it must have discovered something," he thought. "Lange once mentioned that given my current connection with Hong Lian, while her status as an External Avatar can be concealed from High-Level Giants, it cannot escape the perception of a transcendent ruler. Could this Old Guy actually be a transcendent ruler?"
As these thoughts raced through his mind, Bu couldn't help but feel paranoid. However, maintaining an expressionless facade, he bowed respectfully and replied.
"Respected elder, the person outside the hall is my twin brother."
His mind worked quickly; in the eyes of the Three-Eyed Elder Statue, it appeared as though he hesitated for a moment after being asked before obediently providing an answer. Although this response felt somewhat off to him, with only a sliver of consciousness remaining clear, he could not delve too deeply into it.
"So it's still about twin brothers... It's normal for their auras to be somewhat similar." This thought flashed through his mind as the Three-Eyed Elder Statue quickly shifted its focus to what would come next without overthinking this matter.
"Child, both you and your companion have been afflicted by my Heart Seal. Although it has not fully taken effect yet, as long as I do not lift it for you, every so often the Heart Seal will erupt, causing you to lose all rationality and engage in beastly acts until the Heart Seal is completely embedded within you and you become my Heart Slave."
Seeing the Three-Eyed Elder Statue and not pursuing the matter of Hong Lian's identity any further, Bu Shang let out a sigh of relief. However, he did not expect the following words from the other party to be so malicious, striking his mind like a thunderclap and leaving him completely stunned.
Noticing Bu's dazed expression, the Three-Eyed Elder Statue seemed quite pleased and immediately seized the opportunity to say, "However, I am in a good mood today. If you are clever enough to cooperate with me and do some tasks for me, I can lift the Heart Seal for you. What do you think?"
"What do you mean?" Bu finally snapped back to reality. His brows furrowed deeply as his thoughts became chaotic. He forced himself to calm down and carefully analyzed the information revealed in the other party's words.
"Not only is my life in this old monster's hands, but it seems I am also about to lose my freedom as a Heart Slave. The Heart Seal enslaves the heart. Were those Vengeful Spirits part of the Heart Slaves? If I agree to this old monster's request, he might lift the Heart Seal afterward, but there is a greater possibility that I would be killed or threatened again."
Bu fell into deep thought, various thoughts swirling in his mind. "If I don't agree to this old monster's request, I might die on the spot. Agreeing doesn't seem right either; if I agree, I might buy myself some time and perhaps find a way to lift the Heart Seal. But since he can confidently let me do tasks, he must have already made preparations."
Or he is certain that no one can lift the Heart Seal for me.
But if I refuse, I could be killed immediately, leaving no chance at all.
After pondering for a long time, Bu's changing expressions fell into the eyes of the Three-Eyed Elder Statue. The latter appeared calm and unconcerned about whether Bu would disagree; in his view, this young man was merely fish on a chopping board—no matter how he lay there, he would eventually receive a knife.
"Alright, what do you want me to do?" Bu exhaled heavily, feeling extremely frustrated. This feeling of fate being out of his control and being coerced into submission made his heart tremble and his blood boil with rage. Yet he could only choose to suppress it—for survival and for the chance to become stronger!
