Chapter 21: Zhang Qiu's Plan (Part 2)
Zhang Qiu and Wang Jinghan stood in an empty corridor, quietly looking at each other. Wang Jinghan, with a guilty expression, said, "I'm sorry. It's all because of me that you got involved with him. I shouldn't have..."
"It's okay," Zhang Qiu interrupted her. "That person has a grudge against me."
"You have a grudge?" Wang Jinghan's eyes widened in surprise.
"Yes," Zhang Qiu confirmed with a nod. "Do you remember when I asked him if he knew Liu Xiaolong? He is his brother. Liu Xiaolong is the one who injured my father; our conflict has long been established."
Wang Jinghan was astonished. "I didn't expect it to be such a coincidence."
"Isn't it said that enemies are bound to meet? But it's fine; since we've crossed paths, we might as well resolve this together," Zhang Qiu said with a wry smile. It was indeed quite a coincidence that the brother had injured his father, and now the younger brother was trying to take away the girl he once liked, while their brother-in-law was suppressing his uncle.
"So, have you made up your mind?" Wang Jinghan asked.
Zhang Qiu nodded. "Now that things have come to this point, it's no longer about wanting to avoid conflict. To them, avoidance is seen as weakness. I don't want to be bullied in the future."
Wang Jinghan looked at the boy before her with complex emotions; he was no longer the naive boy he once was. Although she still saw him as somewhat immature, he possessed an ambition that many lacked. Looking at Zhang Qiu filled her with determination. After a moment, she said, "You can do it!"
"Yeah," Zhang Qiu replied firmly.
Wang Jinghan tugged at Zhang Qiu's sleeve and said, "Let's leave through the side door of the hospital to avoid running into them outside."
"Okay."
Wang Jinghan led the way while Zhang Qiu closely followed behind. As they approached the side door, Zhang Qiu suddenly wrapped her arms around Wang Jinghan from behind. Wang Jinghan was startled and struggled, shouting, "What are you doing!"
Zhang Qiu quickly released her grip and pointed to a few people standing outside the side door. "They are Liu Xiaolong's people."
Wang Jinghan suddenly realized she had misunderstood Zhang Qiu, her face flushed as she lowered her head and said, "I-I'm sorry."
Zhang Qiu shook her head. "No, I was too hasty; I should be the one apologizing." After that, Zhang Qiu looked back at the side door exit. "I think they came prepared. They chose to wait outside the main entrance to ambush me instead of entering the hall, which means they are planning something serious. I suspect they have someone at the side door as well."
"What should we do?" Wang Jinghan felt helpless.
Zhang Qiu fell into deep thought. She could call Yang Yu, but could a group of students handle thugs? If anyone got seriously hurt, she would feel guilty. But aside from contacting Yang Yu, what else could she do?
"How about we call the police?" Wang Jinghan suggested. She couldn't think of any other way to escape their current predicament; calling the police was the only solution they could come up with.
Suddenly, Zhang Qiu tightly grasped Wang Jinghan's shoulders, startling her. Zhang Qiu exclaimed excitedly, "I have an idea! Why didn't I think of this sooner? You really are my lucky star; I have a plan now."
"What plan?" Wang Jinghan couldn't help but feel curious.
"It's your idea—calling the police." Zhang Qiu tapped her head and murmured, "I was being rigid in my thinking; if something can be resolved through connections, there's no need to go through formal procedures. Actually, formal procedures can work quite well too." If Wang Jinghan hadn't mentioned calling the police, Zhang Qiu might have overlooked it.
"Then let's call the police," Wang Jinghan said as she took out her phone to make the call.
Zhang Qiu hurriedly stopped her, a smirk on his face as he said, "Don't rush, let's go through the proper channels. We still need to use some connections; we won't just call the police." A bold plan formed in his mind, but the biggest obstacle was his uncle, Deputy Director He.
Wang Jinghan didn't understand what Zhang Qiu meant and stared at him in confusion. Zhang Qiu smiled and said, "Just watch a great show and help me solve the problem of Liu Xiaofei always bothering you."
"Don't do anything reckless," Wang Jinghan quickly advised.
"Don't worry," Zhang Qiu replied. "I'll call my uncle." With that, he took out his phone, found his uncle's number, and dialed.
After a few rings, the call connected. "Nephew? What made you think of calling me? Aren't you supposed to be in class today?"
Zhang Qiu didn't answer He Jun's question and got straight to the point. "Uncle, I need to talk to you. Are there any outsiders around? If so, find a quiet place." After saying that, Zhang Qiu's heart raced. He rarely spoke with his uncle, who was quite an upright person; he wondered if his uncle would agree to his methods.
The line suddenly went silent, and all Zhang Qiu could hear was the sound of static and his own rapid breathing. After a moment, He Jun's authoritative voice came through. "Okay, what's going on? What do you need to tell me?"
