Inside the Public Security Bureau, Wang Guodong was leisurely reading the day's newspapers at his desk. He had maintained the habit of reading the Youth Daily, Urban Report, and Youth Daily every day, and his secretary would place the current newspapers on his desk every morning.

Wang Guodong put down the newspaper, a shadow crossing his face. He picked up the black telephone on his desk and said, "Zhou, come to my office." Almost immediately after he hung up, there was a knock at the door. Wang Guodong said, "Come in!"
The door opened, and a man in his thirties, wearing gold-rimmed glasses, a blue shirt, and black trousers entered respectfully and said, "Director, you called for me?"
"Yes." The director nodded and pointed to the chair that Liu Xiaolong had moved earlier. "Sit down."
The young man with gold-rimmed glasses sat down; he was Zhou Guanghai, Wang Guodong's secretary. When Wang Guodong served as Director at the local level, Zhou Guanghai was his capable assistant; their cooperation was quite seamless. "Understood," Zhou Guanghai replied with a bow. Having followed Wang Guodong for many years and weathered numerous storms together, he quickly grasped Wang Guodong's intent and immediately stood up to take his leave.
"Ah! That Comrade Feng is quite useful; he still has a strong sense of party loyalty!" Wang Guodong suddenly remarked. "What happened? It's so early in the morning," came a sleepy voice from the other end.

Wang Guodong hesitated for a moment and replied, "No, I have something to take care of."
The tone on the other end turned cold: "That's just an excuse. You're going to see that vixen again, aren't you?"

After finishing the call with his wife Wang Hui, Wang Guodong dialed another number. "Hello, darling!" came a sweet voice from the other end.

"Of course. You left in such a hurry this morning. Is everything okay?"
Wang Guodong felt warmth in his heart and replied, "It's fine, everything is good."
"Then will you come tonight?" Wen asked tentatively.
"Of course, make sure to clean up and wait for me. Your husband is quite tired and needs to relax," Wang Guodong laughed heartily. Wen was someone Wang Guodong met after being injured during a mission. At that time, Wen had just graduated from nursing school and was working at the hospital, where she was assigned to take care of Wang Guodong. After his injury, Wang Guodong was restricted and had a fiery temper, causing many nurses to shy away from him.
